Why Can't The Past Just Die?

Before he noted the hand that Aika had moved to amplify the Force, Connor felt an unnatural tightening on his windpipe and for a second couldn't breath. He then was yanked forward, flailing forward onto the ivory floor below. His arms instinctively went out to absorb the fall, and it wasn't a very graceful landing.

As his palms went down and a cough escaped his lips, Connor looked down at the floor and felt a surge of heat through his body - embarrasement and anger.

The girl is unstable - don't be pushed around anymore. Take control...

The voice in his head spoke truth and he inhaled deeply, pushing himself up to his feet.

"You really are deluded. You should be locked up for your own good. If you do that again, I will make sure you regret it. Don't push me."

He wanted to show he wasn't going to settle for her high-and-mighty stance of the Force. She wasn't anything special.

"Don't. Don't... tell... me... what to do. Ever again. Or I'll..." she said in a very cold tone, but stopped suddenly with a big headache, her eyes burning with such anger. She could just feel that the anger was totally getting in control. She could feel that her hands were sweating, and her cheeks were redder from the anger. But... she had to stop it. She had to conceal the darkness growing in her aura.She took a big breath, trying to calm herself. She felt like she was going too far, insulting the Order in its own headquarters. "Just play along, Nima. You are outnumbered here and you have nothing right now." she thought, because she was just a Padawan and talking like this in front of a master could get her in trouble. She closed her eyes and continued to breathe, trying to look at the distance. She was even more confused that Master Heavenshield just watched the whole talk, not interfering. She looked at him, now a little calmer. "I..." As she tried to talk, she was interrupted by Master Kawakami, hearing her calm but a little cold voice. She met her in one of the lessons. And she was a strong Jedi. She respected her. As she listened her words carefully, an evil smile appeared on her face.

"See... I am honored to hear these from you, Master Kawakami." she said, with a loud and confident voice in front of everyone. "What I learned best from this journey, is to destroy every obstacle to achieve your goal. That's what I am talking about. Weakness is a failure. You shouldn't tolerate it. If you want Order to be strong, you need to eliminate the weakness. And sometimes doing what needs to be done isn't doing the right thing. That's why I said earlier, you needed to kill me. I was weak. I would become a burden for you, even get you in danger. But on the other side, you saved me, gave me a second chance. You gave me a chance to fight for the right once more. And my rights... may be a little different from you." she said, looking directly into the eyes of her which had a confident and calm look. "I don't want to teach you your job. As masters, I respect all of you. But... your methods are wrong. That's what makes you 'weak'. There, Master Kawakami. Your silence..." She said, with a nod.

Matsu continued to listen to them and her face remained blank just black orbs starring at the padawan until she was acknowledged by Connor and Aika. She remained there moving towards the glass and spoke. "We have been working on some items, mostly to help the Silver jedi but also to give those who need it something. One thing we developed from the bones of the Taung spirits and their old armor, there is power in some objects and...." She opened the case and revealed the hilts of the blades. The telescopic boles retracted and snapped it into place as the trigger appeared. "A bladeblaster is a simple tool and we have modified it to a permanent stun setting. Hopefully it will disrupt the spirit enough for Coci to wrestle control of it and we can try and draw it out to a tsil crystal."

She began to run. Her feet bare dug into the soft grass as she ran toward the jungle. The foliage thick and barred her way, but she pushed and pushed further into the jungle. The hot humidity would take it toil, her energy began to wane and her body wet with sweat. Coci drew on the light side of the force and pushed it around her body, filling it with strength and power to her limbs .... and she ran.

The evil that resides in her now, following as if like her shadow and getting closer. Coci is strong, strong of mind and body but even she has her limits and her resolve began to crack. Fear filled her heart, as it pounded as if to escape her body .. hitting her rib cage with a desire to leave. Thurion! .. she screamed in her mind. A voice full of fear .. and doubt.

Had he forsaken her? why is he not here, why can't she hear him?

Running, her legs burned with pain. Her body cut from the branches, blood staining her clothes .. and her mind faulted.

A laugh .. evil and threatening filled her mind, it is her own laugh yet not. Then she saw it, a small house in the middle of the jungle .. old and ruined, but there is a door and windows still in tact. I must get inside.

She would not hear the words of the Master, her mind closed down to outside forces, only her force bond to Thurion would be the only path to her mind.

Coci pushed open the door to the house and entered .. slamming the door shut and locking it. She backed away and stood in the middle of the room .. darkness surrounded her, all light had vanished and she left so alone. She sat on the dirty floor and gave in to her fears, tears rolling down her cheek unchecked and she wept with out control.

In the cell Coci's body moved forward and fell to the floor.

He was about to say something to end the bickering between those gathered, but then he heard the distressed calling of his name within his mind, followed by the thump of Coci's body hitting the floor in the next cell. Immediately he dropped everything and dashed back into the room to find her lay against the hard floor, still unmoving and non-responsive. At least physically.

Her mind was beginning to waver, unable to resist the darkness within her for much longer at the current rate. "Coci!" he cried out as he rushed to pick her body off the floor and into his arms, cradling her head against his chest. "I'm here. I'm here, now", he told her, knowing she would not answer.

Sat on the floor with her in his arms, leaning his back against the wall, he shut his eyes closed and entered her mind. Within he could see her diminishing restraint, with the Taung spirit relentlessly assaulting her. It would not be long before she was the trapped one, like Connor was before her. She was caught with no way of escaping. But he would not let her fight alone against the darkness.

A bright flash of light appeared, blinding to all but her. "Leave here, spirit! You shall not have what you come for!" came a commanding voice as a figure stepped out of the light to oppose the darkness. The figure held out his hand for her to grasp, and in an instant she was stood in his embrace, shielded by an aura of light.

On the outside the aid he provided Coci's mind would put a considerable strain on Thurion, but he would do what he could to help his beloved in her time of need.

A bolt of lightning hit the house. The walls quaked as the booming thunder echoed around the room. Coci quickly raised her hands to cover her ears as she body trembled with the fear. The Taung outside and little by little breaking down her resolve. Another and another, sending shards of wood flying through the air and soon she would be here.

The door to the house blew open. Upon the threshold a brilliant white light, at first Coci thought the Taung had finally entered, but no ..

Her eyes searched the light, only to see the frame of a figure walking toward her, a hand stretched out toward her. She stood as her hand rested within the that of the figures which embraced her. A voice commanding the spirit to leave and the warmth of a body she knows all to well. Thurion. She said the name as if the meaning of it meant love itself.

Gone is the fear she held in side, her purpose and strength reinstated however anger built up, angry at herself for allowing the Taung to turn her mind to fear and doubt. She used this anger to strengthen her mind, not for destruction, but for the purpose of defeating the darkness of the Taung. She drew upon the examples set by Thurion over the time she had spent with him, a far better Jedi then she could hope to be, and will use this to break free.

My strength will not last, what every they have planned to do they must do it now. Tell me what I need to do?

Matsu looked at Thurion and she set the case taking one out for herself. There was no real way to prepare for this. She felt the weight in her hand as the blade-blaster shifted into a gun and she took aim. "There was a saying that my master use to tell me. This is the day when all of ones work will come to a head, when it will pay off in one glorious moment or fall apart and all be for nothing... For everyone else it is a normal day." Hopefully that lightened the mood as she squeezed the trigged sending a purple stun shot at the raven haired master.

The thunder and lightning roar louder at his words. The floor of the house shook and splintered .. the rage of the Taung mounted to a hurricane and wiped against the small house. Coci clung to the figure of light that continued to hold her in his arms. Thurion stood tall and strong and unwavering against the onslaught protecting her with his force presence and love. Coci's resolved strengthened now he was here and she focused her mind on subduing the control of the Warrior.

In the cell Coci remains within the arms of Thurion on the floor. Her body limp, swallow breathing and lifeless. Matsu took charge and aimed the blaster, the purple bolt ripped through the air. With no choice and to not hit Master Heavenshield, Matsu aimed for Coci's rump. A direct hit. The purple charge fizzing over her skin as her body quivered with the effect.

The room went silent. For a moment, Coci remained hidden in his chest, before she lifted her head to look around. The black cloud gone and light of the blue skies streamed through the window. The wall of the house began to fold up like a pack of cards and vanished. Her mind began to clear and open ....

A sharp intake of breath and her eyes flashed open. She could not move however, numb from the charge which would ware off soon enough. "Thurion, where are we?", she asked as her eyes could not see into the room.

Her lips simply curled into a grin, hearing the words from Coci's lips.While this would not be the end of it, for the time being, Aika would let this go. This little ordeal had put a great strain on them both, and as anxious as she was to test how deep this hole within the girl now was, there would be a time and a place for such a thing. That time, however, was not now. Rather her eyes danced back to the young Twi'lek, simply watching her for a moment before before a small chuckle escaped her lips. Even now, the two continued to challenge her.

"My methods? No.. I would be weak, if I could not see, yet I can. It is my vision that lends to my strength. Until you can understand that, you will remain as you are. But, if you so choose to look past your narrow minded views, and see what lies beyond..." With a slow pivot, her back turns to the others, sauntering away. "I'm not hard to find.."

[Thurion Heavenshield]

A sigh of deep relief left him when the woman in his arms stirred from her unconscious state, her eyes opening wide and the sweet sound of her voice making his heart soar. All he could was smile down at her as he caressed her, and embraced her. "You're safe, my love. You're here, with me", he told her with joy and confidence in his voice. Taking a firm hold of her body, Thurion picked her up from the floor and got up on his feet to place her back in the soft bed. He sat down beside her and took her hand in his, then brought it to his lips to place a tender kiss upon it. His other hand gently caressed her cheek, and all the time he beamed like the midday sun.

"Thank you, Matsu", he said as he turned his head to look at her, gratitude clearly visible on his face. "We are in your debt. I am in your debt."

As Matsu moved towards Coci and Thurion, Connor looked past the others into the holding cell opposite him in the corridor and watched the events unfold. He nodded gently as it seemed that Master Sinopi had been saved from some uncertain fate; she would be one whom Connor owed a rather large apology to.

Aika was still talking – goading – she had no idea what Connor was capable of. He looked at her and smiled, shaking his head at her ego and confidence. Admirable, yet very narrow. As she turned to leave, Connor watched her go, flitting his eyes to Nima, and back to the cell opposite

There was much to do, much to repair and much to build in Connor’s mind.

All he could do was wait until his…observation…was over and he could leave from being a prisoner.

A prisoner in his own order.
