While Valery spoke, his undivided attention was all on her. It was almost as if a concerned mother was speaking to their son in the hopes of wanting the best out of them. Silas may have not been her blood, but she had always regarded him as one of her own through the companionship they shared as master and padawan. Nothing would ever break the strong bond they had, It was something that would stand way beyond their time in this world and beyond.

When Valery stopped speaking Silas kept quiet, his expression tired yet lifted from the encouragement she offered. He looked to say something when his mouth opened, but after a few moments, Silas moved forward to pull Valery into a long hug. For the first time in a while, he forgot all the hateful things that were spiraling through his mind. Instead, there was a refreshing peace that was for now keeping all the hateful thoughts at bay.

Love was the key to all of that.

"I'm sorry..." was the first thing Silas said in their comforting embrace after a period of silence "I-I would never dream of pushing you or the rest of my family away. If I did that, I wouldn't know what to do with myself." Silas said as he slightly leaned himself up to look at Valery again, his eyes doing well to hold tears and offer her a light smile.

"Please, just give me some time"

Valery's arms wrapped around Silas without hesitation, holding him close with the kind of warmth and reassurance only family could offer. In that moment, she felt the weight of his struggle, the pain he had been carrying alone, and all she wanted was to shield him from it, if only for a little while. Her hand rested gently on his back, a steady, comforting presence that invited him to lean into her support fully.

As he whispered his apology, she gave a gentle shake of her head, murmuring softly, "You have nothing to apologize for, Silas. I'm so proud of the person you've become, and you don't ever need to be alone in this." She pulled back slightly, just enough to meet his gaze, her own eyes reflecting both the fierce protectiveness she felt and the unwavering belief in him that had never faltered.

When his voice wavered with the need for time, Valery nodded, her smile both tender and understanding. "Take all the time you need," she assured him gently. "I'll be here, ready whenever you are. Healing isn't a race — it's a journey, and it's one I'm willing to walk beside you for as long as it takes."

She let one hand drift to his shoulder, offering a reassuring squeeze. "We'll face this together, Silas, in your time. Until then, know that you're not alone. Not now, not ever."

There was never any doubt that Valery would abandon him, it wasn't in her nature to cast aside those in need especially when she considered them as family. She had been a mother figure to Silas ever since joining the order, an idol who always strived to keep him on his feet and striving to be the best person he could be. That was what a true Jedi did, and one day he'd repay the favor by guiding the next generation of Jedi to be their best.

That, however, could only be done when he had finally defeated the demons that had lain dormant.

"Thank you...Valery" He said quietly as he looked at her with a weak smile, the anger that had built up slowly but surely easing "Even though I tried to push you away, you stayed. Only now do I realise how foolish that was" Silas explained as he slowly stepped away from her to catch his bearings "You are the person who knows me best, there's no better person who I'd consider to push me through chaos" looking back to Valery his face seemed to show concern to what he warned next.

"However, there's something you must know. I sense there will be far worse things ahead, not just from the past but from events that have yet to come. I just hope you don't see me in a different light by the time our journey together has finished"

Valery's amber eyes held Silas' gaze, her expression a mix of warmth and unwavering determination. She stepped closer, her voice soft but infused with the strength of her conviction.

"Silas," she began, her tone steady yet compassionate, "You've endured so much, and despite every challenge, you've grown stronger. The journey we've walked together isn't defined by perfection or the absence of fear — it's about facing your struggles head-on, and you've done that with remarkable courage."

Her hand rested gently on his shoulder, grounding them both in the moment. "You're not alone in this. You've never been alone. Pushing me away couldn't change that, and neither will whatever lies ahead. I'll be here, every step of the way, as I always have been. I see the person you are, and I trust in the person you're becoming."

Her voice softened further, but her gaze remained resolute. "You've sensed challenges to come, and I won't deny the galaxy always finds ways to test us. But you don't need to fear how I'll see you. I know your heart, Silas. No trial, no mistake, will ever change the bond we share."

Valery was resolute with what she thought of her former padawan and it didn't seem like that was going to change anytime soon. By now, she probably thought she knew everything about the young Azbrian Jedi. However, it appears the past had finally caught up with him and forced him to act on the feelings that had been building up inside. Shame was one of them, but the desperation for revenge seemed more satisfactory.

That on the other hand had been quelled for now by love and support from the woman he always looked up to. She believed in him with all her heart to become a better version of himself, betraying that would be stabbing her in the back. Nodding slowly to her words, a lone tear went down his cheek before he moved forward to hug her again in reflection of the encouraging words.

They were going to face this test together, and for the first time in a long while, Silas felt that he wasn't alone in his fight. The weight of the past, heavy as it was, no longer seemed insurmountable with Valery's unwavering presence beside him. There was a quiet strength in the way she held him, a reminder that redemption was not a solitary path, but one walked with those who believed in you. As they kept embracing each other, the silence between them was no longer filled with the tension of unspoken fears, but with the unbreakable bond of trust. Silas relaxed, his heart steadier now, knowing that no matter what lay ahead they would face whatever shadows lingered in his past and rise together.
