PRODUCTION INFORMATION
- Manufacturer: Sith-Imperial, Royal Jewellers.
- Affiliation: Joycelyn Zambrano
- Model: N/A
- Modularity: None.
Production: Unique - Material: Alchemised gold, corusca gem, silk.
- SPECIAL FEATURES
- Symbol of Authority: Made by the royal sith-imperial jewellers, the Wreath of the Sovereign is a recognised symbol of imperial authority and serves as a badge of office for the Princess of Dromund Kaas, heir to the imperial throne. Every detail of this diadem is made to showcase subtle power without being in the way of practicality.
- Dark Energies: Latent in the diadem is a current of the dark side of the Force. This pulls the wearer toward the dark side and gives them a minor boost of power when they lean into their dark tendencies.
- Vox Regem: Through the dark arts of Sith Alchemy, this item grants the wearer a subtle, but powerful passive ability to band together others and place them under the sway of the wearer. While the wearer can’t directly control anyone, their word holds a greater gravity when under the sway of the Vox Regem effect. The ability to coordinate one’s allies functions much as battle meditation.
- Terror: While allies are granted a boost, opponents are assaulted by fear and confusion as a mirror of the Vox Regem effect. This ability may tip the scales of war in the wearer’s favour, but may be contested in a number of ways.
- Strengths:
- Dark Power: The Wreath of the Sovereign grants a dark-aligned wearer a minor boost to their force affinity, making it marginally easier to employ abilities relying on the dark side of the Force. A follower of the light who dons the diadem will feel an immediate draw to the dark.
- Vox Regem: The subtle influence of the diadem allows the wearer to grant an effect similar to battle meditation, granting allies a boost to morale, coordination, and ferocity. Those affected may also feel a desire to follow the directions of the wearer.
- Terror: While the diadem grants boons to allies, it subverts opponents of the wearer by clouding their minds with confusion and fear, as long as the wearer is participating in the battle.
- Weaknesses:
- Fallen Banner: While the wearer is in the fight, the affected are emboldened and strengthened. However, should the wearer fall, then the affected may be struck with supernatural fear and despair, weakening them severely. Similarly, the Terror effect will subside if the wearer is dead, unconscious or otherwise loses focus on the battle.
- Force-Born: Born from Sith Alchemy, the item is dependent on the Force to fully function. If placed in an ysalamiri bubble or similar force-void, the item will be inert until connection is re-established.
- Darkspawn: The powers of the Wreath of the Sovereign are born of dark Sith Alchemy, and are thus weak to intrusions of pure light. A direct blast of force light to the diadem may damage it, while a beacon of force light or wall of light may weaken or even dispel the Vox Regem and Terror effects for the remainder of the battle. This would not trigger the Fallen Banner weakness noted above.
DESCRIPTION
Joycelyn Zambrano, also known as Darth Vornskr the Second, was made heir apparent to the imperial throne when she was granted the title Princess of Dromund Kaas in New Kaas City after the Liberation of Csilla. In celebration of her ascension, the Princess requested a crown be made as a symbol of her new office and an heirloom for the princes and princesses to come.
What was wrought in her honour was the Wreath of the Sovereign: A diadem of gold leaves shaped to look like a halo of flames wrapping around her head. Where the flames meet, on the top of her head, there is a small corusca gem, the back of which has been inscribed with sith runes. The diadem is worn over the top of the head and is fastened at the back of the head by way of a black, silk ribbon. The design is made to be comfortable to wear, yet striking against the typical dark hair of the Zambranos.
After the base design was approved, each golden plate was inscribed with a sith compound-rune to help channel dark energies. By the end, the crown was soaked in an alchemical solution and imbued with the dark side of the Force. This process bound the magic of the runes to the item and allows the wearer to channel power through it in order to harness its powers.
The first iteration of the diadem worked similar to a short range particle blaster, allowing the wearer to project a beam of energy against opponents. While initially well received by its wearer, Joycelyn Zambrano, it was soon proved to be ineffective and therefore sent back to the Jeweller’s Guild for readjustment. What they produced next had an effect deemed much more appropriate for a Sith of Joycelyn’s position and for a crown celebrating her position as heiress to the Imperial throne.
The effect of the adjusted Wreath of the Sovereign still affords the wearer a boost when drawing upon dark powers, as a Sith is wont to do. However, its ability to blast those who disagree with her was changed to something more insidious: The voice of a regent - Vox Regem. This effect allows a Sith, such as Joycelyn, to inspire those fighting for her to greater efficiency. They will coordinate better, experience greater ferocity, and have a higher morale. As a side effect, those affected by the Vox Regem are inclined toward following the instructions of the one inhabiting the crown. While the wearer does not directly control or command those it inspires, as through mentalism, it simply makes one more inclined to listen to the wearer, as if one had great personal loyalty to them. This effect may be resisted by those of particular mental fortitude, and ends as soon as Vox Regem ends.
Additionally, the crown serves to weaken the wearer’s opponents by clouding their minds with fear and confusion, further tipping the scales of battle in the wearer’s favour. This ability may be resisted by the mentally strong, and contested by the light side of the Force, or hypothetically, by an enemy force-user engaging the wearer in a mental duel.
