Written in the Stars

It was almost as if no time had passed in the relation Seo had with James. That perception was entirely wrong and they had something like sixteen years to catch up on. They had decided to do just that had left Lorrd and her family behind. Aodhan had wanted to come along and she promised to bring him along next time. He still had a little bit of growing up to do before she would be comfortable with him leaving their home.

Taking their leave of her family, they were now aboard his ship. Joining him in the cockpit, she looked out the viewport.

"You told me years ago you would take me someplace. That never happened. Now is your chance to keep that promise."

She rested her head against his arm and drew in his familiar scent. It was something she hadn't known she had been missing. Part of her still blamed herself for the time James had lost on raising Aodhan, but that couldn't be changed now and perhaps as he said, it was better this way.

James never realized until he saw it up close how much he lacked a family, and how much it hurt. Even as a child, he had spent most of his time without a mother. As a teen, he was on his own against the galaxy, moving from planet to planet for a fist full of credits and enough food to keep him moving. As he sat in the cockpit of the Nestis Cora, staring out to the stars that stretched out before him, James wondered if that was why he had visited most of them. He wondered if that pain was the driving force behind his attempts to become what he was now. He wondered if the need to make his lost father or his mother who abandoned him proud.

What could have been so important to leave him? James let out a sharp sigh through his nose. The man hadn't been much better with his children. Most of them never met him until they already knew how to walk and talk. Aodhan was the only one that knew what a strong father figure was like. James clenched his teeth before taking a pull from the bottle in his hand. He didn't know if it hurt more that his mother had left him, or that he had become his mother.

Seo's touch broke James from his stormy reverie. James had gotten used to snuffing his emotions deep down inside as an empath. However, Seo might have been able to pick up on his stormy state, or in the least with her training, see his tension in his body language.

James gave her a smile as she snuggled up next to him. His arm wrapped around her small body. Despite the years, she was still such a slender, small framed woman. He planted a kiss on top of her head. The man had no idea what they were, or where they were going with this. However, he was ok with just seeing where this went. He knew they had something special. Maybe James would finally have the opportunity to make something better than the trail of failures he left behind himself.

"Nestis," he said, addressing his ship, "Set course for the Hapes cluster."

The ship's console gave a series of blinks before jumping to hyperspace. It was a smooth, easy transition, unlike the last flight the two had had together aboard the Drunken Marie that was anything but. The spacer gave Seo a winning smirk, "How are ye liking the luxury suite so far?"

To say it was made for royalty was an understatement. The Arch Prince James stole this vessel from had spared no expense from the extensive bar, to the zero gravity bed, to the droid manned kitchen where countless exotic meals could be made without lifting a finger. Unlike James' previous vessel, this one was actually tidy and clean, thanks to the droid staff.

It was said that the manner you were raised was how you would raise your own children. Both Seo and James had done exactly that. When Aodhan had been born, it had just been she and her mother to raised him at first. Early in his life, her mother had gotten married and he had taken on the role of being a father for both Seo and Aodhan. Eventually a new family had been born and this was how their son had grown up.

Even though it was just the two of him, she didn't feel like speaking. Don't blame yourself for what happen, James. We have the chance to correct what has happened to us and start over.

Words and thoughts alone didn't mean anything, but right now that was all there was. Time would tell what became of their mistakes and if that recovery happened.

When he put his arm around her, she fell in comfortably and rested again him. Smiling at the memory of his promise, that was finally coming true.

Chuckling when he asked how she was enjoying the suite, she shook her head slightly and that smile remained on her face.

"I haven't noticed. Been too preoccupied with my company."

It's hard not to sometimes. His thoughts and hers seemed to flow effortlessly from one mind to the other. She had met with him when he was much younger, with almost no training or knowledge of what he could do. His skills with telepathy and the massive ability to seduce anyone he set his mind to hadn't been touched yet. He was a child who didn't know how to fully use the matches that now lit the wildfire he now had. I'd like to start over. To be there again with you.

"Oh, ho ho ho," James chuckled as Seo said that was too preoccupied with the company to notice the massive luxury around them. His free hand gave her nose a playful tap, "Careful, Lil Spinner. Talk like that will find ye without ye clothes on sooner than later if ye keep this up."

Being with Seo was like slipping into an old pair of leather skinny jeans, or sinking into a well-broken in flight chair. It felt natural, normal. No matter how long it had been since the last time you sat at the controls, it was almost like you never left. It wasn't like the chair was made for you anymore--no, you were made for the chair at that point. And that was what she was for him. There was--nearly nothing that could have been better between them.

But for now the spacer was trying to go five minutes without tearing her clothes off. It was hard enough with pretty much anyone else. With his childhood sweetheart here, that was even harder.

"Ye are gonna like the skies of Hapes," he said cocking his head to the side, "A planet of nearly eternal light and--ye'll finally get to see what I meant. How it suits ye."

If there was one person in the Galaxy that Seo felt she could be herself, that person was James. He had found her at one of the lowest points in her life and lifted her up. James had helped her and after a period of time, returned her home once it was safe.

Resting her head on his chest, she reached up and returned that tap to his nose. It was almost as if they were the young people they had been when they met. This time she wasn't a scared teen though and fully an adult with her own mind, thoughts, and life.

"Who says that would be such a bad thing? If we are starting over, might as well resume where we left off."

Chuckling with him, she listened to what he said about where they were going.

"I get plenty of light where I live! It's a karking desert. Is Hapes secluded and locked up behind clouds or something like that? How long until we arrive?"

There was a playful shine in her eyes when she asked that.
