Xbox One vs Playstation 4

I know this has been discussed a billion times, but I am about to buy one so I wanted opinions.

Why would I get Xbox? I have friends with them that I can play with and the controller is bigger so fits better in my hand. They also have a 1tb hard drive, witcher, and other exclusives that I like.

Why would I get Playsation 4? One I work at best buy and want to be a Sony rep one day. Playsation has always had better graphics and more story driven games. It also has kingdom hearts.

There are benefits and negatives to both which leave me at a cross road... Help!

At present, both consoles are very comparable. The gap between them was basically epitomizes by Microsoft absolutely bombing at the initial E3 reveal.

That said, the PS4 has marginally better graphics. On the flipside, Xbox Live is a much more reliable service than PlayStation Plus (no hax, no hax). At this stage, it really boils down to the exclusives you want.

(KH3 is supposedly coming out for both consoles, which is the sole reason I have an Xbox right now.)

Yes, PC's are better. But that's not what he asked. :p

I've played a lot of XBox since some friends had them, but I've been a hardcore PS fan since the PS1 came out. I would highly recommend the PS4.

As far as your controller worries go, the PS4 has MUCH improved ergonomics. Whenever I turn on my PS3 to play some Fallout I realize just how much I hated the controller for it. It was tiny even for me, and I have really small hands. The PS4 controller feels awesome and everything is well placed for quick movements. I'm also a huge fan of the fact that you can plug your headset directly in to the controller, a feature made way too hard on the PS3. I would recommend buying an additional controller to use while you're charging another one because the battery life is kind of terrible, but they recharge in 20-30 minutes and last at least 6-8 hours depending on what game you're playing. (Some drain the controller faster by using the indicator light on the front.)

I'm continually amazed by the look of my PS4 games, and as you said, the stories and love put in to a lot of PS exclusive games is seriously incredibly.

PS4 has great - and also free, for the most part - online access.

Unless you rest it on the floor or in a corner and don't keep it clean, the machine also runs VERY quietly. Eventually, after a few years, it will inevitably get loud like anything else. But my PS3 - despite sounding like an airplane landing - still runs perfectly. I would recommend either buying a stand OR, like I do, propping my machine up on two game cases so air can circulate underneath it while you're playing.

I really, really love my PS4. Clearly. I will go back to my nerdcave now.

Edit: Also, PS has Witcher! I would know because I leveled up at an embarrassingly quick rate. :|

In all fairness, I have had a love for the PS that is solely revolving around Naughty Dog and their many, many excellent games: the Sly Cooper quadrilogy, The Last of Us, InFamous, etc. While XB has a few nice exclusives (TitanFall, aka Really Big Call of Duty), I prefer gaming on the PS compared to the XB.

Edit: Oh yeah, and BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY.

We should have TLOU chat, not in this thread because if I start I don't stop.

The consoles have a market a lot of PC games, MMOs and mobas aside, just don't get. That's just the nature of a gaming platform that is designed to also operate as a home theater system and has the convenience of pushing one button to operate and being being in the middle of one's home. People buy a console for two things: convenience and community; the latter ironically is largely perpetuated by the former.

Why an Xbox One?
You have games like Halo and Gears of War, which just aren't on the PS4 and (for a very long time after release) PC. The Xbox has statistically more players than the PlayStation in the US, period, so the games are a little more lively (but not noticeably unless it's an old game). The controllers are oh my God, I can't even begin to start on how comfortable compared to the anorexic mess of a PS controller, which to be fair, they improved a little since the PS3. It can do everything, from Verizon television to Amazon to Netflix to Skype, browse the internet, watch and upload streams and has a pretty simple, straightforward UI. Xbox Live's security is a decent deal stronger than PSN's, but it's Microsoft, the king of the computer industry.

Why a PlayStation 4?
There are certain niche markets on the PS4 which is primarily why people buy it. A lot of the RPG games are great, as they have all the Japanese-based ones. They had great F2P games as well, like Planetside, Dust and Ace Combat Infinity (they should have released Infinity on the PC as well but they're idiots, could have made so much money). The graphics are and always have been astounding, though with the current generation the differences are hardly noticeable. Can also do Netflix and all that stuff (not sure about Verizon and Twitch though).

Pretty much every core thing a PS4 can do, an XB1 can do, and vice verse. They both have the F2P games, they can both play Netflix and all those apps, they both play the same games the same way, their GUIs are both good in their own rights and both have backwards compatibility; Xbox is just getting it late because they wanted to rush it out the door on launch, so starting this month. I mean, pretty much, they're the same minus label and a few nuances. The differences the 360 and PS3 had were far greater than the differences this gen has.

So if you're going to buy one, ignore the fanboyisms of both and buy the one that's most comfortable to you. Which one has the more comfortable controller? Which one has the cleanest, easy to use GUI? Which one has the online features you will use more? What (if any) exclusive titles would you want to play most? These are the questions you have to ask yourself after giving both a run. It really comes down to preference.

I like the XB1 because the controller is a perfect fit and the GUI is virtually identical to (insert Windows product of choice here). That's about it. Every game I've bought on it, I can buy on the PS4, and almost every app can be downloaded.

I know I want a PlayStation 4, I am just a PlayStation guy, but I would have none of my friends to play with on it so I am now leaning xbox one. Plus in about a week they release a blue one with racer stripes that I like so there is that.

Thank you guys, you really helped. Really I got to get an xbox one to Olay with my friends, but I am a PlayStation guy and always have been. I basically just wanted to know if I'd be losing a lot by switching. I may keep my ps3 too as I can only get 52 dollars for it so trading seems pointless lol.
