The XJ-7 is a sleek, elite Starfighter manufactured by Incom to exacting standards. These are something of a vanity vessel for high-end customers. They are manufactured to order, individually and at great cost. The tolerance afforded to each component used for manufacture is tightened up beyond the usual high standards. Each is then tuned and tested by an Incom test pilot, usually a veteran Starfighter pilot. High end components mean the laser cannons have more kick than the mass produced models of X-Wings, engines and shields have higher output.
The hand finish shows. Each is robustly anodized with a colour scheme to the customer’s specification. The interior is sleek with holographic displays, heated hand-stitched bantha calf leather seat and exceptionally intuitive on board computer. Sound system can be installed upon request. Any customer will find this model quite comfortable even cruising though hyperspace for long journeys with the high-spec drive. The cockpit canopy can even be polarised for a comfortable light level whilst in hyperspace.
If taken into combat the XJ-7 can take on the most advanced Starfighters in the Galaxy. The vessel’s shields can take some fire, whilst advanced laser cannons can cut down most shielded fighters. Advanced on board computer delivers the right information to the pilot to draw their attention to threats and to achieve lock on enemy vessels. Whilst smooth to handle the XJ-7 isn’t designed for some of the more dangerous manoeuvres that military pilots often enact to avoid point defence fire and incoming torpedoes.
