The Golden Rule
Name: Yinchori Dragoon Squad
Intent: To create a special unit to counter Force Users.
Affiliation: Kiribian Systems Union (Minor Faction), Galactic Republic
Availability: Common
Quality: C
Type: Airborne Cavalry
Role: Frontline Assault, Scouting, Raids
Strength: 24 (16 Yinchorri, 8 Droids)
Description:
With the prevalence of force users on the battlefield, the Kiribian military began augmenting their forces with specialized units that could operate effectively against FUs. One such unit devised were the Yinchori Dragoons. Due to their physiology, Yinchori have a natural immunity against telepathic influence. Other traits like aggressiveness, size, and endurance make them ideal combatants.
To supply manpower, the Kiribian military recruits heavily from its native Yinchori population, and abroad from the nearby Yinchori homeworld. In the latter case, an accelerated path to naturalization and citizenship is offered to foreign nationals on top of a salary.
The Yinchori technology of flutter-packs are utilized to make the Dragoons a highly mobile force, able to quickly advance and maneuver around the battlespace. Their mobility makes them ideal for secondary roles like scouting and raiding, where they can quite literally swoop into an area, then leave as soon as they had arrived.
A training course for a new recruit last for about a year, which covers basic infantry tactics and combined arms, then there is specialized training given in airborne tactics related to flutter pack operation. Experienced native Yinchori operators are usually brought in as instructors for the flutter pack component. As combat is expected against lightsaber-wielding Force Users and other elite melee fighters, the basics of Teras Kasi are taught to make Dragoons proficient in close quarters battle.
Organization
A Dragoon squad breaks down into a quartet of 4 man fireteams, each augmented by a pair of flight capable droids, like the Harvester, for fire support. The whole squad is led by two sergeants (who each directly command their own fireteam) and squads not led by the head sergeant and their secondary are commanded by corporals.
Arsenal
As a Kiribian military unit, Dragons have full access to any Kiribian arms available to regular units. Dragons are often armed with long range weapons and launchers for area attacks against ground forces from the air or from elevated positions. Examples include the Famos Battle Rifle, and MKI Boltor. In CQB, Dragoons usually wield a compact weapon with a high rate of fire, or a shotgun. For protection, Dragoons wear some form of light or medium armor.
