As his ally dealt with several of the Land Cruisers in quick succession, Venris found himself surrounded by four of the racketeers stil on the roof of the first freighter. He did not even require much form in dealing with them, mostly flicking his lightsaber to cut apart their weapons and then slice through a limb or their torso. Parts of the racketeers toppled off the sides of the freighter, with the last of the four being kicked in the chest after Venris sliced off his arms at the elbow. The unlucky raider slammed into the front of the second freighter and went under, being left behind as a broken mess.

Then the swoop bikes began to pull up with the gunners firing off shotguns, just when Venris had thought he could have a moment's break. He leaped from the roof of the freighter and landed on one of the swoop bikes that had come up on the left flank. He sliced through the driver's head and leaped back up as quickly as he had landed while the gunner tried to follow him. The now out of control swoop bike leaned off to the side until it flipped over entirely, sending the bodies of the two bandits flying while Venris a aged to latch onto the side of the first freighter. He tried to pull himself up, having to clip his lightsaber to his belt to do so without losing it, but then the second swoop bike pulled up and the gunner, rather than using his shotgun, fired a harpoon gun that went right through Venris' forearm just as he got on his feet.

A pained cry tore free of the rogue, who clutched at his arm as the swoop bike began to pull away, the cable slowly becoming taut and tugging Venris towards the edge. The harpoon had barbs in it, each digging at his flesh and catching on his bones to try and drag him along for the ride. He'd be torn down, dragged across the ground until he was a pulpy mess and then picked apart to be some bandit's meal!

Grasping the harpoon, Venris reacted on instinct rather than logically. Where he could have used his lightsaber to sever the cable, he instead sent a surge for Force Lightning through it and down to the gunner on the second swoop bike. The man's body quickly lost control of its own muscles, and the gunner released the harpoon gun before going limp in his seat.

Now with the gun dragging behind the transport, Venris recovered enough to cut through the cable with his lightsaber, leavong the harpoon stuck through his arm. Luckily it had not been the arm of his main hand, or he would have found it harder to fight.

Venris saw the approaching shape of Gorgeous John's destination, and that of the convoy. This battle would mean little if the slaves were still delivered; they had to stop this convoy and deal with the rest of these racketeers in the next few minutes or they themselves might just be taken along for whatever ride Gorgeous John had planned for the families inside these freighters.

Land cruisers exploded into the air or simply burned and came to a halt as their occupants were roasted alive in their cabins. Whoever these folks were they were tough, and that only made the Racketeers want to kill them more and feast upon their blood and flesh. But meal time would have to wait, they had to finish securing their food first and time was running out. The massive Alum wall that spanned the size of the arctic circle was approaching and they were no further than ten minutes out from their target. So the land speeders made one last ditch effort to take down the speeders and the two men who were guarding it.

As the remaining five land cruisers made their way to the outsides of the speeders out of reach of the knight's force lighting and too far for the mercenary to jump with his rockets only to be shot down before getting there. They primed their weapons and coming up to the right with the other two remaining land cruisers was the armored big rig. The sides opened up and two heavy blaster canons popped out of the rigs's side like the portholes of ships opening up fire upon a target.

The swoop bikes quickly pulled off to the rear and the remaining psychos onboard quickly jumped ship knowing what was going to happen next. They were going to blast the crap out of the rigs, they speeders were too heavy to take flight and all they could hope to do was make it to liberty district one.

Coming out to stand on top of the rig was a man dressed in what barely classified as an outfit, but he was ripped enough to let people know that he wore the black leather straps well. Holding up a microphone he pointed towards the two rigs and shouted.

"FIRE!!" he bellowed and soon his orders were made so.

Taking aim at the rigs and the two men guarding them the racketeers opened fire with everything they had from blaster canons to assault rifles. Slamming into the rigs the cries of families bellow rang out and what little armor the rigs had barely protected them, they could not hold up against this kind of attack much longer. But the alum wall still approached and soon enough Liberty District One Air Force pilots were scrambling to get their operations going.

"By the Force, no..." Venris whispered before the armored truck opened fire, making both freighters shake violently as the rest of the racketeers began to fire as well. The trucks could withstand maybe a minute or two of this sort of punishment. He needed to act fast!

Leaping back to the second freighter, Venris clipped his lightsaber to his belt. No weapon could help him here or save these people. The best he could do was maybe buy them some time, but with his deadliest ability lacking the proper reach he was low on options.

"Weight is nothing, size is nothing." He whispered, holding out his hands. "Distance is nothing."

Even as he told himself these things Venris felt his pulse racing. At any moment he could be blasted to pieces by a stray bolt, tossed from this freighter, run over and crushed into meaty chunks. He could die a dozen different ways and wind up in the stomach of several racketeers if he failed...as would the families in those freighters.

There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.

The code of the Je'daii began to repeat itself in his mind, helping him to focus, push past the heart stopping terror he felt.

There is no fear, there is power.

The air began to bend and shimmer around his body as Venris shut his eyes, hearing the roar of the truck's engine and the crunch of stone beneath its tires. It seemed to be moving so slow now, only the laser bolts retaining any speed as they flew past Venris, one close enough to scorch several hairs on the side of his head.

Venris opened his eyes and leaped from the back of the transport, landing in the dirt and rising to his feet as the truck began to bear down on him. One turret adjusted its angle of fire enough to pepper his position with blaster fire, but the knight leaped into the air again and this time landed on the truck...right behind the man with the microphone.

He gave a whistle and unclipped his lightsaber. "Hey." He said before igniting the sapphire blade. "Boo."

Venris lunged forward, stabbing his blade towards the leather clad man's heart.

Gotta stop these trucks. Draco ran for the cab of the truck using his electromagnetic boots to keep him from falling off under the withering hail of blaster fire. His armor was scored and had minor dents from slugthrower rounds. He could feel sores and welts under his armor, and his chest still had a sinking ache from the battle against the droids. He swung down to the side of the truck, wrenching the door open with one hand and holding himself steady with the other. Getting the door open he pulled the driver from the truck and tossed him to the ground. "Best of luck poodoo," he muttered under his breath. Slipping into the cab, he took control of the rear freighter, pulling the internal comm-link on he called to the other freighter "Message from control, change course to east. Air support is coming in from that direction." He hoped that simple ruse would work, but if not, he could at least get one group of people out. He swerved the vehicle westward, popped the emergency brake, pulled the control stick hard east and let the rear of the vehicle slid behind him, pointing him directly east ward, away from the raiders, shifting were the blaster bolts were hitting, hopefully buying those few people a little more time.

He continued swerving hoping that even a few blaster bolts would miss the vehicle. Using his HUD he connected to his ship's computer and initiated the power up sequence. Hopefully, if they lasted that long it would quicken their escape. Dang I wish I had bought some pilot droids back on Nar Shaddaa.

The leader of this little group of Racketeers looked over surprised at the man who had just jumped down on their little truck, with his face covered by an iron mask the ripped man wasn't fast enough to block what was coming or dodge it. The lightsaber plunged into his gut and out the other side, he let out a grunt of pain as his muscles contracted and tensed at the introduction of burning hot plasma into his internal organs. But he was probably high enough to the point where he couldn't feel someone cutting his arm off, nor a beam of energy cooking his internal organs.

"You make wrong choice little man!" the huge man said as he pushed himself forward on the man's blade.

Getting closer the massive man made a move to grab onto the knights arm with one hand and with the other he reared it back for a brass knuckle filled punch aimed right at the knight's face. A blow like that wouldn't kill but it would certainly rattle some brains and hurt like a mofo. As for what was happening elsewhere on the armored rig the band was still playing and had switched to a different song to fuel the chaos that was Dredd. Other racketeers moved onto the deck of the armored rig and began to watch the fight between their leader and the Jedi.

As for the rigs still under fire from the other racketeer vehicles, the driver of the first rig had seen his partner fly out of the cabin of the cab as the mercenary really hadn't done a very stealthy job of removing him. So he had ignored the person and continued straight ahead. With two different rigs going in two different directions the racketeers had to split up. And the situation was perfect, they were going east, straight to their territory of Rocket City. Three dune riders curved off to the side and began to follow the highjacked rig, they closed in behind it and were trying to steady themselves to get a clean shot. As for the remaining two swoop bikes they curved off to the right to reform with the armored rig to take down the freighter.

But off in the distance the sounds of Liberty District One forces grew closer and closer and they could be seen on the horizon. They would be there in seconds and it would seem the president of this fine city didn't like to lose.

In hindsight, this may have been a terrible idea, but Venris didn't let the surprising resilience of the Racketeer leader dissuade him. He took the blow, turning away from it to mitigate the damage and keeping him from losing any teeth even as blood spurted from his nose. Only a honed reaction time and masterful reflexes had kept that punch from doing any serious damage, and Venris would sport a massive bruise and a slightly fractured cheek bone from the hit. Any higher and he'd have had a black eye.

Venris raised one leg up and managed to kick against the leader hard enough to back the larger man up a couple steps. Venris deactivated and dropped his lightsaber and then caught it in his other hand...the one attached to the forearm that had a bleeding hole in it.

His grip was unsteady, but Venris managed to flick the weapon in an upwards stroke, aiming to sever the leader's arm past the elbow in a wide arch and then, in the same motion follow up with a second slice aimed at the man's thighs. His arm felt like it was on fire, but he had endured more wounds than this in larger battles before. The only thing that mattered was killing this marker and getting back to chasing down the freighter still on course for Liberty District One.

Well, it was worth a shot, too bad it didn't work out like he had hoped. Still he had a chance to save the people in this truck. With one hand he gripping the control stick, and with the other he opened the small dividing window to look at the passengers. Once he got it open, he glanced back to check on them. They were huddled against the rear of the vehicle, fear, sweat, and pain painted on their faces. "Hey can one of you squeeze through this and drive this rig. I need to fight these guys off." One of the thinner adolescents looked up and crawled over to the window. "Maybe," he said in a raspy voice. "Well come on then kid" Draco grunted, grabbing up his pistol and swapping it over to slugs.

The teen pulled himself through the window and took control of the vehicle as Draco pulled himself back out onto the roof of the cab. "Hey mister, we are going east towards Rocket City. We need to go south to get away." Draco spat, well crap, this is gonna get rough. "Stop the truck, we have a friend back there and we ain't leaving him behind." He snapped off several slugs at the oncoming raiders as the truck slowed to a hault. The other rig was still trudging along, away from them as was the armored truck. Gotta clear these boys off and get to the ship. It was only a twenty or so minutes away, but it was probably much longer than they could hold out against the Libertarians.

The shot caller for the Racketeers made another grunt of and off went his arm, letting out a massive battle cry the large muscled man charged forward and quickly found himself on his back with his leg taken off. The man screamed in frustration and anger of the most pure concentrated hatred, but even then he wasn't dead yet. Flipping onto his butt he tried to crawl or stand to get to the Jedi. But that's when things got worse for him, rather than coming to his aid the other racketeers looked past the Jedi and at their fallen leader. But instead of fear for the Jedi there was only hunger in those eyes and a need to eat, a need for hot flesh and blood between their teeth.

The racketeers on the armored rig ran past the Jedi and dove on their fallen leader like a pack of coyotes devouring one of their own. The man screamed and let out panicked howls until they were reduced to nothing but gurgles and twitching limbs under the snapping teeth of various racketeer forms. The knight was safe for the moment, or at least until they finished eating their once great leader.

But that moment only lasted for a second as the swoop bikes formed up around the armored rig and began to take pot shots at the man with lever action shotguns from above on their hover bikes.

Things for the mercenary were going better though, not much better but better. The three land cruisers began to circle the stopped rig and when the man made a few shots one of the drivers of the land cruisers was shot and the cruiser was stopped. This however was quickly fixed when his dead body was thrown in back for a meal at a later date. The car roared back up and soon the racketeers began to open fire on the man, all seven of them to their three little vehicles.

However off in the distance closer to the first rig liberty city drop ships had arrived at the first rig, they played music from their loudspeakers and began to encircle the rig that was approaching the outer gates of the massive wall. One out of two wasn't bad after all.

Venris swore and dove forward to dodge the first shots, using one of the feasting Racketeers as a shield for the second salvo. He glanced ahead and saw the freighter pulling in towards the district gates.

"No!" Venris growled, looking towards one of the passing swoop bikes and leaped into the air as the gunner fired. Venris kicked the gunner out of his seat and plunged his saber down through the neck of the driver, making his body spasm and slump over forward.

"They aren't taking them," He muttered to himself over and over like a personal chant as he shoved the dead pilot aside and grasped the controls in time to steady the swoop bike. He took advantage of the fact that the racketeers below were busy feasting to begin shooting towards the district gates with the third and final swoop bike in pursuit behind him.

Venris tapped his communicator. "I'm going for the other rig! Keep the people in your freighter safe!"

Faster, kark it, faster!

Sith-spit, the Jedi may have succeeded in distracting some of the raiders, but he bolted off after the lost freighter. "Save as many as you can boss, but I can't sit here waiting on you." Draco called down to the teen in the cab. "Pull us about and get us going back to the ruins, my ship is there." He shook his head, he had hoped to meet up after the rescue, but it didn't look like that was gonna happen this time. He pulled his off hand pistol and started lighting up the three cruisers still circling his freighter. It sucked getting shot at, and he was gonna need a medic after this one, but he was still more or less in one piece. The freighter pulled south and accelerated as fast as it could, a slow plodding pace as packed as it was. He kept concentrating his fire on the circling cruisers, riddling them with armor piercing rounds as fast as he could pull the triggers.
