Yours Truly

Eleena stood with her head bowed against the breeze that cut across the promenade overlooking the new Temple. Still far from being completed already it was beggining to hum with the strength of the darkness. She closed her eyes and reached out towards it, letting the power wash over her.

Silent little Miho, she had latched onto the One Sith like a shadow, biding her time she waited to be accepted by a master. The disregard with which acolytes were treated, that she was treated left her feeling bitter. Alas they did not know who they were truly dealing with, so it was not their fault.

A new presence caught her attention, dark, powerful. She reacted as any dutiful acolyte should, turning her back on the temple she went down to one knee, head bowed, making no contact, all the while her discontent with such a position swarmed about her.

Mierin walked through the new Valley of the Dark Lords, statues half built, temple nearly finished. It was a beautiful sight to be sure, though it did not compare to the ancient world of Korriban where she had been born and raised. Yet there was a slight...charm to it that she enjoyed, perhaps it was the looking statues reminding her of home, or perhaps it was the thousands of Sith that now came here daily to see their ancient Masters.

As she neared the temple steps many around her knelt, apprentices and acolytes venerating within her presence.

Another thing she was used to, in her days it had been the Massassi and their kin that had knelt, and now it was humans, twi'leks, and a dozen other species that bowed to her. Interesting how time changed things. She smiled slightly as she began to ascend the steps, she stopped only when she found an acolyte at the top of the steps, a blue twi'lek she did not recognize.

The Sith Purebloods eyebrow raised as she looked at the prostrated woman, though for a moment she said nothing.

Eleena was very aware that she was being scrutinized, hairs raising on the back of her neck as eyes bore into her skull her discontent grew and she made no attempt to hide it. She said nothing, speak only when spoken too. That was the rule. The daring streak that had pushed her into a good position in another life flared within her.

She lifted her head to lock eyes with the master that was looking at her. There was no fear, a hint of a smile played on her lips as she studied in return. A pureblood, a rare find indeed, perhaps she would have some valuable insight that Eleena hadn't come across before.

Silence echoed between them, discomfort rippling through other acolytes as they shot looks her way wishing very much that she would not be so disrespectful.

Mierin's lips turned down.

Her hand twitched slightly, turning so her palm was facing down and her long spindly fingers pointed towards the acolyte. Massive bolts of purple and blue lightning sparked from her fingertips, jumping and arcing towards Eleena in an instant, singeing and burning skin, aimed to cause the most pain that they possibly could.

There was no malice behind the act, no anger or rage, she was a teacher showing a student their mistake.

After all this behavior could hardly be encouraged.

Eyes widened in fear and surprise and she made to move away. Not fast enough, electricity rippled across her skin, making her rigid. She could do nothing, say nothing all the while pain racked her body. She didn't scream, she couldn't take a breath to do so, she simply slumped to her side twitching, face contorted remembering Valiks' warning about the bar that rested in her belly.

To her good fortune, it continued its job. When the pain stopped she drew in deep shuddering breaths, trembling from head to do, anger swarming about her she returned to one knee, eyes fixed on the masters feet as she imagined a hundred different ways to kill her.

The girl returned to her kneeling state at quite the quick pace, it was almost impressive. The scowl was wiped away from Mierin's face, returning to the impassive gaze that bothered so many people she dealt with. The smell of singed flesh entered her nostrils, and for a moment she crinkled her nose. Her yellow eyes studied Eleena for a moment more, noticing that the girl was not weeping.

That alone was worthy of note, half her acolytes turned into inconsolable wretches after even a single spark of her lightning. Maybe this one would be useful.

“Your name?” Her voice was rock steady.

Mierin had no idea who the girl was, she had not been present when Eleena had paraded herself about the construction site the first time, The Pureblood had been busy with the construction of the Dark Blade Dreadnoughts, and thus hadn't been able to participate in the construction.

"Eleena Miho, if it please my lady." She managed, her voice hoarse, body still reacting to the pain much to her displeasure. She couldn't remember the last time she'd been on the receiving end of such a powerful strike. It reminded her just how mortal she was, of just how carefully she'd have to tread on this mission of hers.

Not wanting to risk another strike, she kept her gaze downwards.

Eleena, what an awful name.

She observed the girl for a moment more, and was satisfied when she did not speak or look up at her in a disrespectful manner once again. To Mierin, respect was everything. It was a lesson she had been taught many times in her youth, one that had stuck with her through countless eons of slumber.

“Where is your Master?” The Purebloods voice remained that passive steady rock. “I Would think you have a task to do.”

That much was simple truth. Usually all the acolytes had one thing or another to do, there was hardly ever time for lollygagging.

"I have no Master, my Lady." she spoke softly now, almost as if she was upset that she had no Master. "None has seen fit to take me as their servant."

There was something about this pureblood that put Eleena on edge slightly. It was like she was carved from stone, not to be affected by anything. Unreadable? No, no one was utterly unreadable, it was simply a matter of getting to know them.

“Easy to believe.” Mierin said in that straightforward voice. “Perhaps it is because someone has yet to teach your proper manners.”

She considered for a moment, frowning slightly as she looked down at the Acolyte. She could leave the pitiful creature here, she could allow her to toil away until another one of the Sith picked her up and began her training. Yet that would take time, and she couldn't have someone like this skulking around her home.

Mierin let out a slight wisp of a sigh, and then walked around the girl with quick easy steps.

“Come.” She commanded, walking into the half finished temple.

Eleena released a silent breath of relief as Mierin moved past her, but it was short lived as the single word was uttered. She did not hesitate, the smell of her own burnt flesh still fresh under her nose. She was a fast learner. Coming to her feet she followed the pureblood inside.

Despite her reservations, about the woman's methods, she was elated. Who better to attach to than the hand of the Dark Lord himself. She would obey, she would hold her tongue and she would learn.

Mierin walked into the Temple ahead of her, stepping further into the construction side with the young woman following her. Golden glowing eyes wandered from statue to statue, looking at each and every one of them and checking their likenesses. That was why she was here of course, in order to ensure that construction was going as it was supposed to be.

A tight smile showed on her lips as she saw the statue of Darth Shara, the recently passed Maelibus.

Her footsteps suddenly came to a stop before the greatest of the statues, a towering figure in organic spiky armor that seemed to loom over everything else within the half built temple. The Sith Pureblood allowed the Twi'lek to catch up, and then she spoke.

“Do you know who this is?” Her question was an obvious one.

While Mierin ran her eyes over the statues, Eleena trailed behind her watching her carefully. She'd been here since the construction began and spent a lot of time looking at those statues, so much so that they no longer held her interest. When Meirin stopped, she cast her eyes down and kept a respectful distance from the woman's side.

"Lord Shara, my lady." she replied without looking at the statue. Slowly she lifted her gaze, daring to look at the Master's face again, not in defiance, but in honest curiosity.

She didn't punish the girl for looking at her this time, since she answered the question correctly. Instead she gave the girl a nod. The largest of the statues did indeed belong to Lord Shara, the massive hulking Maelibus seemed to loom above everything, even the statue of Darth Krayt. Mierin looked at it for a moment, and then regarded the young girl.

“His life came to an abrupt end.” Mierin said quietly. “Pity really, he was perhaps the most loyal of us all.”

The Pureblood turned about and walked over towards another one of the statues. Perhaps the most famed Hand of the Dark Lords, a slim Twi'lek figure with a single lightsaber within her hand, her clothing barely covering her.

“And this?” She asked.

Eleena couldn't keep the smile form her face, Darth Talon was an idol of hers once upon a time, beautiful and utterly devoted to the Dark Lords cause. How utterly foolish she was. She looked up at the statue this time, drinking in the curves of the stone.

"Lady Talon, Hand to the Dark Lord Krayt." she looked back at Mierin "Why are you asking me this?"

Mierin turned to the young girl, facing away from the statue of Darth Talon and looking down at what could theoretically be her little sister.

“Those who do not know their history, are doomed to repeat it.” She said as though it were a simple concept. “The One Sith have taken this galaxy before. We had the entire galaxy within the palm of our hands, and we let it slip.”

That tale was well known even now, Krayt and his hands taking the galaxy by storm. “It is important to remember their failures, and learn from them. History is just as important as wielding a lightsaber, as controlling the force. Knowledge brings us victory.”

Eleena looked back at the statue. What were Krayt's failures? Why did the Empire fall? The reasons were great and many, all of them debated over. So it was important that Eleena understood what it was that this One Sith believed to be their errors. In understanding that, she would better understand their goals.

"Why do you think they failed, my lady?"

“They lost their way.” Mierin said quietly.

“Krayt sought power, he sought eternal life, he lost sight of what he set out to do.” The Sith Pureblood spoke as her eyes flickered over to the statue of Darth Krayt at the head of the room, the massive looming statue that stood almost as tall as the one of Shara. At the base of ti was an inscription, though it was impossible to read from this far away.

The One Sith relied on their Dark Lord to lead them, and Krayt had lead them to ruin. He had fallen to his own selfishness, his own quest for eternal life and power. That was where they had gone wrong, selfishness.

There was always danger of such a thing, when one reached a level of power that Krayt had it became an obsession, to let that power go was to die, and no one liked dying. No one sought to tell him that he was on the wrong path though, that he had lost his way. So what happens if this dark Lord lost his path?

History always repeated itself, no mater how hard one tried to avoid it, it happened. Daring pushed Eleena to test the boundaries of her tongue "How can we avoid such a mistake again, if we obey so blindly?"
