Ysalmiri Restricted Item list

This is another one of those where people have been expected to play nice. However, one individual has gone balls to the wall to prove that sometimes we need to do something about blatant powergaming.

I don't think there would be any harm in adding it to the restricted item list.

Personally I'd be in favour of one of the trickier writing challenges, with the expectation that 10 posts gets you a new Ysalmiri pet.

Maybe this seems a bit harsh given how fragile they are, but I find the notion of people trying to cram a few thousand clones little blighters into a laser proof sphere and send it into battle abhorrent.

I agree. [member="Cira"] had a suggestion.
I believe it was write as an NPC that survives an Invasion without the use of the Force and either Sight or Hearing.

I liked the sensory deprivation challenge as well! Could make for some interesting threads for the writer while showing that they are willing to put in the effort required to have a ysalamir.

I'd like to get this discussion back on track. Do we feel Ysalamirs should be restricted? Reasons? I'd like to agree on if we should before we come up with challenge ideas.

So it isn't Ysalamiri we would be restricting based on the Skype Chat (Log below) but the harness/cages/boxes/trees etc. I'm cool with this, in fact I would prefer we heavily restrict that Technology. I enjoy the thought of Limited Production only. Unless we are going to force people to do dev for the basic plain jane Canon Harnesses, and that isn't something we normally do. Just my two cents.

[4:43:12 AM] Lisette: There was one clip where either Obi-Wan or Anakin held their lightsaber against one of those for a short while
[4:43:16 AM] Lisette: Didn't even leave a mark
[4:43:24 AM] Lisette: But yeah.
[4:43:29 AM] Lisette: I get the board works differently
[4:43:37 AM] Lisette: But a lot of this stuff has been thrown overboard
[4:43:45 AM] Lisette: Like logic in force dead & resistant stuff
[4:43:52 AM] Lisette: Which is why I hound after nullification resin subs
[4:44:03 AM] Lisette: Because they don't nullify the force at all in any form of the word
[4:44:31 AM] Lisette: A lot of stuff has become a misnomer
[4:44:50 AM] Lisette: But this stuff is being treated like Yuuzhan Vong warriors were in the original invasion
[4:45:02 AM] Lisette: While being worn by Master FUs
[4:45:10 AM] Lisette: Who use the force to the same extent as they would without it
[4:45:36 AM] Lisette: Creating a wall between them and other Fus that prevent much damage being taken while putting out the same amount of output
[4:46:04 AM] Lisette: If it hadn't been done this way since before I got here maybe it wouldn't be brought up
[4:46:11 AM] Lisette: But it is, and so I have
[4:46:31 AM] Lisette: I'm not saying we need to get rid of it or anything, just do the same thing we do with Phrik, Beskar, Orbalisks, etc.
[4:46:44 AM] Lisette: It is both lightsaber and force resistant/immune in some cases.
[4:47:21 AM] Lisette: I would like to have an agreement on whether it should or shouldn't be restricted prior to making up challenges, though.
[4:47:24 AM] Lisette: Just to make things go faster
[4:49:30 AM] Lisette: Honestly this and Ysalamir go hand in hand in terms of being restricted.
[4:49:47 AM] Lisette: If one does there isn't any reason not to do it with the other.
[4:50:01 AM] Lisette: Much more of a reason for these to be restricted than ionite.
[4:55:32 AM] Lisette: Also, to elaborate on restrictions of this stuff
[4:55:49 AM] Lisette: We don't make people do threads for vibroblades and beskads that are entirely vanilla
[4:56:07 AM] Lisette: We won't make people do it for entirely vanilla stuff, too.
