PHYSICAL INFORMATION
- Breathes: Type I and II
- Average height of adults: 2.3 meters
- Average length of adults: 14 meters
- Average Wingspan of adults: 24 meters
- Skin color: Various greys, greens, and browns.
- Hair color: N/A
- Distinctions: The color of their hides can be different variations of greys, greens, and browns. An uncommon occurrence is for the Zlystren to have claws or spike protrusions from the webbing of their wings. Even more rare are a set of functional gills.
- Races: Slickback Zlystren are the most common of the two races. Generally having no form of Gills or having slit marks for gills, but the organ itself is not functional. Posidious Zlystren have functional gills.
- Strengths: [2 minimum]
Flight: Having the ability to fly when in their adolescence. Some have used them as scouts or even carriers for gear, messages or to be used in battle as a companion. - Teeth, claws, and Tail: Their claws and teeth are very sharp and designed for hunting prey, eating or even being used in battle. While they can't break through metals, the jaws of these creatures are very powerful. Even a Zlystren without teeth can break bones.
- Sneeky sneeky: Being a snake like creature, in their youth, the Zlystren can slide around very well and hide in tight spots. In adulthood, hiding in forests, plains, or jungles are very easy and is one of the various tools they use for hunting.
- Potential bonding: A hatchling Zlystren can be imprinted upon through the force of a Force user. Creating a force bond between the two and thus allow each other to find one another, or sense that the other is in danger. However, this is the extent of the connection.
[*]Weaknesses: [2 minimum]
- Armor: Being creatures mostly covered in leather and with hollow bones to allow easier flight, Zlystren at best can deal with small arms fire from pistols. However any larger, or more powerful weapons can easily take them down with a few shots.
- Fragile: With wings being a mode of transportation, breaking them mid flight, or while on the ground can cause the creature to not be able to fly or to fall to the ground with a possibility of death depending upon the drop distance.
- Impacted: While these creatures can be bonded to one force user, should the same force user attempt to bond with other creatures, the first Zlystren has an overload of senses and tends to lash out in anger, or even upon themselves, committing suicide.
- Molded: As with some who bond with the creatures, they can be impacted, and act differently depending on how dark or light the force user is. Darker individuals tend to have creatures that are more aggressive, and have a pale skin tone. While those of the light have more colorful tones and tend to be more docile.
CULTURE
- Diet: Carnivorous. Any form of a meat source. Including their own kind, however, they rarely cannibalize one another and tend to only eat those who have already passed.
- Communication: Growls, clicks, Purring, Hisses, and non-verbal actions.
- Technology level: Wild - None, Tamed - As much as the rider/owner has.
- Religion/Beliefs: While the creatures are not sentient, they do have a mating ceremony. One where males will fight for dominance over a female by flapping their wings into the face of the other male. Should one of the males backdown after threats, then the fight is over. However, if neither back down after a time, then they will begin to fight to the death, or until one backs down from the fight for whoever shall mate with the next female.
- General behavior: In the wild, the Zlystren male will mate with a female. After giving birth, the female will leave the egg that she produces to the male to take care of. Making a nest up into the trees of the jungle, these creatures are rather protective over their young for the first few months. Afterwords, they are left alone to survive the jungles. Living mostly as a snake like creature for the first year or so of their life, they barely have anything that would resemble wings. Slowly growing into leathery forms after they reach about a year and a half on average before they truly begin to learn how to fly.
Should an egg be found, or hatched in the presence of a force user, that person can create a force bond with the creature. The two will be able to feel one another's emotions and from that gauge if they are in trouble, pain, fearful, or otherwise. While young, The Zlystren tends to be attached to the person. Unable to be without them, and almost always be by their side. While this may be different depending upon the gender, as well as the owner's actions towards their companion, it tends to be the same.
Upon growing up to a larger size, they can be trained and used in combat, as well as given harnesses when they are large enough to be ridden. Both males and females can be ridden as mounts as they are around the same average size, weight, and structure. As well, during this time, owners will slowly grow a deeper connection to their Zlystren to what could be considered a Force Bond if powerful enough.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Zlystren are actually quite a new species. It us unsure how old they are as a species. They have only been recently discovered in smaller numbers on Aurum within the past few years. While most live up within the trees of the Jungles and forests upon the planet, their hides are very useful in keeping them hidden. The Local natives thought of the creatures for a time as Ghosts or spirits that had manifested as dragon like creatures who stole children in the night. As given by the bedtime stories told. However, this was proven false as many are just territorial around their young, and thus have attacked hunters who stray too close to their nests.
While the frequency of attacks like this reach their peak around mating seasons, it drastically falls well below the single digits when out of season.
Only recently after the reformation of the Je'daii Order upon Aurum, and making a much larger presence have these creatures been used as a test for Padawans, and Journeyers to capture, or to tame one of these creatures for their Trials upon their Great Journey.
