Image Source: A piece called Derringer by artist Mrhd, picture of two Derringer guns (link here)

Intent: To create the next in line of Abregado Shatterpistols by making it much smaller and more concealable.

Development Thread: None, based on SP-1

Manufacturer: Abregado-Rae Guild of Hammers

Model: High Velocity Kinetic Firearm- Semiautomatic Pistol-2 "Racket's Bite"

Affiliation: Barony of Abregado-Rae, partially Omega Protectorate (see Production)

Modularity: Comes in standard handheld pistol variant, and in minimal variant for installation within one's armor systems or within droid bodies. Customizable magazine socket gives an option of adding an additional external magazine to the weapon, for example if one mounts it in their forearm bracer they can also add a larger magazine capacity for ammunition to it, if that is done and how much it extends ammunition capacity depends on case by case basis.

Production: Minor production (Enough to supply the Iron Company and Militia of Abregado-Rae, any additional production would require a development thread with backing from another manufacturing company, i.e. Omega Corps buying off the design to manufacture the weapon for Protectorate forces)

Material: Plasteel, optional Electrum or Bronzium for aesthetic purposes, miniature Copper magnetic rails, small Echani Graphite capsule protecting vital systems.

Classification: Shattergun Slugthrower

Size: Handheld

Length: 10 cm (A bit over 1/4 the length of SP-1 which was 34 cm)

Weight: .5 kg (1/3 weight of SP-1, which was 1.5 kg)

Ammunition Type: Small-caliber pellets or darts

Ammunition Capacity: 2 muzzle-loaded pellets or darts

Effective Range: At twenty meters it is most effective on armored foes of class five and below, while at fifty meters it is only noticeably effective against an armor rating of three and below. Beyond fifty meters the weapon is highly ineffective.

Rate of Fire: Semi-automatic

Special Features: Multicaliber bore

Description: Based on the previous designs of SP-1, SP-2 is first of a new trier of Shattergun technology made by Abregado, based on their previous products. This model is called "Racket's Bite" an easily concealable shattergun named after HK's comrade at arms, Racket Racoon, with whom droid served in such battles as Defense of Keldabe fighting the Sith. Racket is a small creature but capable of packing quite the punch, just like this weapon, SP-2 has a barrel just long enough to launch its pellets over sound barrier, due to advanced Gados research and their long work on railguns through their Hyper Velocity weapon line it turns out all they need is 10 cm of weapon length to make that possible, that said it's the weakest shattergun made by Abregado-Rae so far. While the SP-1 was able to penetrate most personal armor and even some vehicle armor, this weapon has trouble shattering even medium armor, unless it is in it's close or point-blank range of up to 20 meters where it's most effective.

Although the weapon on its own is capable of holding only two pellets due to its small size, it is a semi-automatic gun, cocking and charging its magnetic rails on its own, with capability for custom improvements such as additional external magazine to allow it greater ammunition capacity. The weapon also comes with the rather fancy multicaliber bore feature, allowing it to fire pretty much any small projectile, would it be pellet, dark, or a tiny explosive bullet. As such it is a very versatile weapon, deployed mostly to Abregado's agents and bounty hunters who are able to utilize such devices to escape any dangerous situations or overwhelm their opponents with some ingenious maneuver. Otherwise the weapon would not see mass deployment until new model of armor is deployed to Abregado forces in which this weapon is mounted as one of the sidearms, something definitely in works.

The gun itself is made from Plasteel and Copper, while Bronzium and Electrum can be used for aesthetic purposes, it is generally discouraged for serving personnel as it can make the gun easier to detect via scanners or sensors, making such pricey decorations used only by nobles or citizens who buy the gun to use for self-defense. Speaking of which, this weapon is available to the public, as long as the public is a citizen of Barony of Abregado-Rae, making it widely used on Abregado but rarely seen on other planets.

Due to smaller barrel length the weapon does not require as much recharge time as other Abregado guns, SP-1 included, another shot can be fired from it almost instantly, making it rather reliable in the heat of battle, especially with a bigger magazine. Small capsule made from Echani Graphite contains the pistol's vital electronic systems, protecting it from ionic or electromagnetic strikes or damage during combat. However, such attacks can still damage the electromagnetic rails of the pistol, thankfully due to the short barrel length they do not need long to recharge and go back into action.

On its own the weapon can be reloaded by pushing a dart or pellet into its barrel through the muzzle, magnetic systems pulling the ammunition down into firing chamber and locking it in place, making reloading it rather easy, of course external magazine can add another way of reloading it but that needs to be described when making such customization or adding it into armor.

it can penetrate between 1-5 armor ratings, but up to 50 meters (A bit over 1/4 of SP-1 effective range, which was 190 meters) it can penetrate 1-3 armor ratings.
I'd like to see this worded differently, as there is a potential for someone to abuse this detail.

How about "It is most effective up to 20 meters of range, achieving penetration up to armor rating of 5, depending on armor plate material, up to 50 meters its effectiveness drops to penetration of up to armor rating of 3, depending on armor plate material, beyond that range the weapon is ineffective."

How does this sound?

"At twenty meters it is most effective on armored foes of class five and below, while at fifty meters it is only noticeably effective against an armor rating of three and below. Beyond fifty meters the weapon is highly ineffective."
Beyond eliminating the potential for others to misuse the previously used description for the effectiveness, this also does not make the weapon entirely useless at longer ranges - as any stray fire would certainly still be dangerous ten meters out from a weapon's effective range.
