A Birthday fit for an Emperor

xZO9eY.jpg

Location - The Imperial Palace

It is currently the birthday of the emperor Alexander Azure. As such they needed a party, so Daleria the senator for Zernia had secretly planned this event with [member="Lunara Azure"] to make a grand celebration for it sending invites out the day before to make sure the emperor wouldn't know it was happening till it was. Or at least she hoped as she stood in the entrance hall allowing people through into the banquet hall where the emperor would be brought bu Luna for his birthday.

She looked around at the 11th legion run by [member="Lance Claw"] was assisting the palace guard today especially since it was a lot of people who were coming to this event. She also spotted her holo recording crew who were ready to send the signal out live across their great Imperium. She just hoped today would be a success.

OOC: Welcome one and all to the first faction thread of the Azure Imperium. Come and celebrate our grand empire, you will start in the banquet hall and eventually it will be moved to the ballroom. However feel free to explore any of the public areas and talk to anyone. Anyone reading this who wants to come and be a diplomat for your faction you are more than welcome too. However be warned anyone who shows any kind of evil intent or trying to destroy the Imperium you will be kicked out.

Voph stood on the threshold of the Banquet hall, his shrouded gaze turning this way and that. A purely social gesture, the blind one did not need to turn his head in the slightest to see the occupants of the room. Or the entire palace for that matter. But, he allowed the details of the further reaches to fade away into visual noise. His crest had been changed from the ragged cloth one he had worn not long ago in favor of Something more...intricate. Ornate. It was a piece of bone, carved with intricate designs, and resting atop the bridge of his nose. The scruff that constituted his beard had been trimmed down, barely more than a five o' clock shadow. His tunic, on the other hand, a mix of leathers and a silk cape. The mantle, a cold metallic piece, rested atop his shoulders. His boots, tightly laced and shining in the light, echoed across the smooth flooring as he strode into the hall.

It was a lively place, to be sure, and one that reminded Voph somewhat of home. The posh nobility, people milling about wearing any face but their true one. He had left his lightsaber with the servants, leaving careful instruction to take care of it. After all...Well, if Voph wanted he could probably sell it, and buy this palace. But, he would never part with his finest blade. Or what he assumed was his. It certainly felt familiar, but he had no distinct memory of having crafted it. Voph came to a stop near a window, pausing to look out at the scenery below. Now to wait...watch...and decide who would be worth his time...

Parties, especially those of the more higher class type, seemed to always find star or really star seemed to find herself going to them. However she also found herself getting more and more into the more political side of these things as well which didn't seem like a bad thing given she was getting older now and needed to take a break from war every so often

Finding herself on Zernia, stardust came dressed in a set of nice robes akin to those that jedi would wear with the exception of color being blue and gold. Underneath she carried her sabers being by now a tradition to carry them around.

Entering the banquet hall stardust smiled taking a drink and would mingle a bit

Lance was keeping an eye on everything with his 11th legion making sure everyone got in okay and no one was bringing in weapons. For the most part he was just looking for anyone trying to assassinate the emperor or just try to shut down the Azure Imperium. He trusted [member="Daleria Dovina"] to look after the diplomacy as his men continued their watches with the royal family's guard.

He was wearing a rather lascivious looking suit that was also part armour as he went over to the man who had entered by himself without anyone or anything on him [member="Voph"] . He smiled and nodded "Greetings I am Lance and you are?" He might as well ask and learn something about someone around here.

Renla Skirae had been exploring when she had found the Imperium. She had ended up making an emergency landing that had her ship wrecked. But they found her, rescued her. And now, here she was at the birthday of the emperor. She still had yet to meet the royal family as she was currently only being sponsored by another family of the Imperium after the learned of her trade expertise. She became patron of the Grandstar family, who were known to be rich and very high class in the Imperium. With her was the mechanical hound, Rexy given by a friend of her father's that she had wished she had met. Darben had told her that he had been a good man and saved him more than once.

Now, here Renla stood. She wore a green floral dress with some mix of blue. Rexy strode along her side, keeping very close. Renla gave the hound a pat on the head. Sometimes it acted like a normal dog. While walking around, she spotted a familiar sight and came up behind [member="Stardust Australis Skirae"]. Quickly tapping her on the arm, but from the opposite side of where she was. "Hi mother!" Certainly was a surprise.

Voph's attention was brought back to his more immediate surroundings as someone addressed him. He turned, right hand folding behind his back, his left arm still hanging at his side underneath the cape. His crest angled towards the young man, if only to indicate he had Voph's attention. Voph's brow creased for a moment, before relaxing into a thin smile. The being before him held the marks of being Echani...and something else. Something Voph had not experienced before. Perhaps a new species had evolved in his time...away. In spite of his smile, Voph was rather emotionless right now, an oddly calm feeling for a man such as him. There was almost a ringing in his ears without the usual burning pit of emotions he had suppressed in the days long prior.

Voph's deep bass carried through the room as he spoke, calm and measured. "Greetings, Lance. I am but a humble emissary of a long dead empire here to pay my respects to your leader on the day of his birth." Voph raised his right hand from behind his back to gesture at the man in front of him, before coming to rest at his waistline, this time in front of him. "I judge from your exquisite blend of both robe and armor that you are a native of these lands, Master Lance. Fine craftsmanship, I would assume befitting a man of your station." A second smile followed his next words, this time conveying a sense of levity, and almost an apology. "And I would imagine it looks quite well on you, to the species that care for such things."

His blind gaze shifted slightly, as if looking over Lance's shoulder before turning back to focus on him. "I have held many names and titles over the years. You, however, may call me Voph Sitdrisa'yr. An old soldier of eons gone by."

Parties were never really her thing. Years spent travelling the galaxy often meant she never settled down, and thus never got close enough with any of the locals to be invited to one. As such, she was drastically under prepared for the event. It had been years since an ounce of makeup plastered her face, covering red blemishes, fixing a crooked brow or extenuating her rather small lips; perhaps more concerning was the lack of a suitable gown which wouldn't cause too much offense around the upper class. Settling on the fact that she needed to make an impression, she spent what little remained of the funds she had allocated herself for this week on looking for best.

The result was surprisingly plain, as her face simply looked a few shades off porcelain and her attire was much the same. Entering the banquet hall sheepishly, she immediately made way for the bar and ordered the strongest alcohol available, attempting to drown her lack of confidence in as much brandy as possible. Crossing one leg over the other, she gazed out into the sea of people mingling, spotting a few acquaintances who noted the change in dress before turning back to her drink and facing the bartender, hunching her back slightly as some intoxication began to kick in, though enough that she still retained her senses.

Lance looked the man over for a bit before he finally got an answer he listened as he spotted [member="Theodora"] wander in and towards the bar. Some day he needed to have a chat to her about what find of ships they should start researching into as he had heard she had some experience in that field he could take to the others in the Imperium Military Command as he focused back on the man he was speaking to.

"A long dead one, such a shame so many groups should fall and people become unprotected. But it is a pleasure to meet an emissary nonetheless. Just don't tell [member="Daleria Dovina"] or she will talk your ear off for years about it. It is very rare people outside the Imperium make a decision to respect our leader's birthday but I thank you for coming and giving me someone to talk to in any case." He said smiling. He then noted the man spoke about his clothes. Lance laughed at his last comment.

"If only everyone could be like you then I could wear my normal armour rather than this thing that looks like someone threw some robes on armour and decided that was enough to be both. Some people care too much about what you wear as apposed to the person who wears them." He would then listen to the man say his name. "Well as a soldier myself it is a pleasure to meet you [member="Voph"] Sitdrisa'yr. My full name is Lance Claw and I myself have been piled with titles I would rather not have. But what's your view of the room, if you were an assassin for a master where would you hide? Sorry it's my unfortunate job today to deal with protective detail and I would like a second opinion."

If you were going to attend a party, then it was common courtesy to be late, after all, you didn't want to enter unless the party was already in full swing, but then you didn't want to be too late either, that would just be unforgivably rude. Only, that wasn't strictly viable when the party was for your father-in-law, then showing up late might have been just the tiniest bit rude, just the smallest bit. Chances are the man wouldn't say anything, but just give her one of 'those' looks that he had patented so well. She'd seen enough of them already to want to subject herself to that, or to the tabloids that would spin it into a major rift in the Imperial Family. The young woman let out a sigh, raising one hand to catch the attention of a nearby waiter as she liberated a flute of champagne from him, still, the party seemed to be in full flow and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Well most people anyway, the faintest trace of a pout ran over Lunara's lips as she glanced at the main door where Marcus, her husband, was standing, greeting the guests as they arrived. It wasn't that she didn't know that he'd be busy, after all, it was his father's birthday and the Crown Prince was expected to be front and centre, she knew that better than most after helping [member="Daleria Dovina"] set up the event it was only...well she'd dressed up for this and had at least been hoping for a dance at the least, some attention too would have been nice. Still, glancing at her reflection in the mirror the woman couldn't help but smile, she did love the way the silver meshes and the silk behind it caught the light, totally worth the trouble of getting ready. A pensive smile touched Lunara's lips as she glanced back at the door before letting her gaze sweep over the ballroom as she took a sip of champagne, it was probably time for her to go and mingle with the rich and famous who had shown up to the party and stop hiding in her corner by the window, as much as she wanted to stay here.

She mingled with people in the crowd making small talk about the weather, the party or even about her dress moving about the place before she came to a window looking out over the city as she took a breath and sighed out...reminded her of imahalyan except of course without the water falls

amazing view isn't it? I say it matches the party quite well

Glancing towards the woman she turned and offered a friendly smile moving closer then faced the crowd

I wish I could have a birthday like this hahaha then again I do prefer just my family there

Something clicked in her head...she heard her name didn't she? Looking around and feeling in the force someone she knew was near...spotting that blue face of her daughters she gasped and waved her over

Voph smiled again, though a grim undertone to it. "Your task or not, your first mistake is admitting to your guests that you have concerns about their safety. Your second was the assumption that I would be willing to impart such advice, third: your assumption that I do not intend to act on such advice." Voph's voice carried a crispness to it, clearly an Imperial accent, but...the dialect was slightly...different. "Though, there was a young man many years ago that offered quite an inspiring method that I've half a mind to try myself some day. Dropped a Star Destroyer on my home, hoping to kill me in my sleep."

His grin widened, a hint of ferocity entering his demeanor. "Was a shame he did not realize I was away. Might have worked. But, I am in a jovial mood. I'll humor your request." He gestured towards the kitchens. "Servants often know each other well, but new ones come and go, particularly on days like this one. Plenty of opportunity to sneak in, plant all manner of nefarious devices and poisons, and escape, no one any the wiser. But, should they be the kind that prefers confirmation when they kill, You would want to wait for the target to move to a crowded area. Say..." He gestured behind [member="Lance Claw"] to the large Chandelier. "Gravity assists, freak accident, the populace is too shocked on the whole to be looking for one man. Or...Simply walk in, carving down any in your way until your target is beneath your blade. After all, the killing is the important part. You simply act on behalf of your master...Once the target is dead...you've fulfilled your purpose in life. You can only ever be so prepared. Someone will eventually come along to show you how wrong you really are."

Iturizu Yuvie

Be carfule what you wish for
To say that the Milirians life was a rollercoaster would be a vast understatement in his eyes. She had grown up in a nomadic trading family, traveling the eastern Outtrim, selling goods and seeing new places. Come the Dominon the Resurgent Empire their wars and loss of parents and said trader soon came to be a Sith through a rogue master. Such had lead to her joining the Galactic Empire in search of order and stability, working as an inquisitor to stamp out insurgents and wrongdoers.

Such only leading to an eventual betrayal by those she served, sending Iturizu down the spiral of rebel cells before making his way to the Galactic Alliance, a short but important part of Yuvies life, one that saw 'her' go to a 'him' through some use of alchemy. Once more war being the catalyst to rip him from the new home, leaving the green skinned force user to wander once more. At this point it would seem folly to try and join up with some new government, though it seemed that the starting point for his journey would offer just what he needed.

And so now, after a few weeks among the Imperium the once feared ad ruthless Inquisitor was now... a bishop of the church of light, quite the position to wind up in if any. Donned in the robes of the church the Mirialan slowly made his way through the gathered crowd. Honestly surprised with how many people had decided to show up considering how last second and secretive things were, perhaps once again it was the will of the force.

Glancing around it didn't take long to start seeing familiar faces, [member="Lance Claw"] chatting with [member="Daleria Dovina"] one of the event organisers, [member="Stardust Australis Skirae"] of all people addressing priness [member="Lunara Azure"], seemed royalty liked to hang around one another. There where few others here and there, three of which stood out but unrecognisable to the bishop but that was to be expected at such a large event.

Pushing through the crowd a bit more Iturizu http://starwarsrp.net/user/15692-iturizu-yuvie/made his way towards the two women of royal birth giving a small bow when within a few meters, "It is good to see you in high spirits princess, and you two Queen Skirae"."I hope I am not intruding on anything, I am sure the meeting of two royals is quite the important event, even at a celebratory birthday event like this".

Daleria had watched so many people enter from emissary's all the way to royals of other planets. Right now however she needed a rather strong drink to keep herself from going over the top. She spotted the royals both [member="Stardust Australis Skirae"] and [member="Lunara Azure"] with a young lady she had yet to meet of [member="Iturizu Yuvie"] she also noticed one [member="Renla Skirae"] who she had done deals with to help out the dealings of the Imperium as a whole. She did see [member="Lance Claw"] with that diplomat of some far off group [member="Voph"] but they seemed to be fine as she continued to the bar. The emperor had yet to make his appearance but that didn't matter too much everyone seemed to be having fun.

As she approached the bar she saw [member="Theodora"] who was one of their naval centurions. She ordered herself a drink turning to Theodora. "Pleasure too see you again. I am surprised you left your naval patrols to attend such an event as this. In any case how is our space? Still full of pirates or have we managed to remove them from near us?" She might as well talk to her. She was the only one who wasn't busy in a conversation and well Daleria still needed a good drink to just take off the edge she had that something might go wrong.

Hadrian Varus

Victory needs no explanation, defeat allows none.
With his wife holdings his arm, Varus entered the party. He was slightly late, but this was a civil occasion and he belonged to the highest aristocracy, there was no need or requirement for a bad consciousness nor for apologies as long as he arrived before the Emperor. His polished leather boots reflecting the many light sources of the grand hall, while the rest of his attire was made of the best silks and velvet available in the Azure Imperium, enwrought with pure gold twine. Hadrian himself was of course with make-up, his service made his skin far too tan and being pale is the true sign of nobility, at least for one who lives the old ways.

As soon as he could he grabbed a flute of champagne, of course for himself and his wife. She was a beauty as well, of course roughly eight years younger than him. He himself had arranged this favourable marriage, she was from one of the most wealthy families of the Imperium. She did not love him, he knew that, but he couldn´t care less. Legacy and politics are more important than such banalities as true love.

Spotting several faces the Legate Imperius did not recognise, several catched his attention. There was sich vulgary woman, [member="Theodora"], who could barely hide how uncomfortable she was and her dress! How plebeian! That such people are allowed here ... Varus was shaking his head innerly. Looking further through the people he spotted a known face, even if they never met before.

The man was talking with a tall, blind one. Giving his wife a short whisper, she disappeared from his side, dwelling at the side of the festivities and not being very talkative the whole evening and trying to drown herself in alcohol and sweets. Varus would not see her again until the end of the celebration. With clanking heel he approaches the conversation, being able to catch up some of the last words said by [member="Voph"].

"You have strange topics to talk about, off-worlder." Hadrian was curiously looking at Voph, though giving [member="Lance Claw"] a short nod and adressing him before the stranger could answer. "Tribune. A pleasure to make your acquaintance. Your garment is marvellous, very fitting for such an occasion." With those words he was mustering the stranger from top to toe again, before shifting his attention to both their faces again.

His tone was oozing with aristocratic arrogance and manners, very fitting for his paled skin which is heavily contrasted by his bright, but cold blue eyes. Keeping his hair very short, but enough to maintain some form of haircut. Hadrian Varus was looking like he would fit into the entire scenery just perfectly.

Theodora's eyes flickered behind her. At first, she had trouble spotting the individual, squinting attempting to remove the blurred filter which now pervaded her entire field of view; however as the figure began speaking she began to match the phonics with someone she had spoken to in the past, as to who that was, her current state made it almost impossible to decipher. "Wel-..l, things got quiet. A little bit too... qui-e...t." Her first words came out slightly slurred as the brandy began taking its effect even more, though she managed to control it better as she regained the ability to speak, "However, if I must be honest I was transferred from patrol to the academy. Got a pretty bad injury that's ruined my vision, supposed to be temporary but it still hasn't cleared up yet."

As she finished her last sentence her head tilted to the left, spotting... someone, [member="Hadrian Varus"] to be exact. In a sober state, she might have been able to decode the puzzled dress wear he was presenting, however the confusing assortment of colours made a slightly intoxicated Theodora simply turn her head back to the bar and begin looking at [member="Daleria Dovina"] once more.

The sudden break from conversation enabled her to finally make the connection, she was a Senator of some description. Unsure exactly what the woman did, and having a complete apathetic attitude to politics, she let out a slightly generic question, "Any chance you could ask your friends to give me a raise soon? My outfit is... less than stellar as you can tell" chuckling afterwards, attempting to pass the comment off as sarcastic.

This was more than a welcoming sight for me. It has been years since I have been in attendance of a Ball, or any kind of Gala. Even if I was considered part of the Royalty within the Imperium, I was not related to THE royal family. It was still weird to be named the Prince of Makrosia, and even more so given royal accommodations within the Imperium. However, I was also the Cardinal of the Order of Shadow. A very prestigious rank given to the effective leader of the Order. While I was a member of the church, I was not the highest here. In fact, The Church leader I had not seen yet.

Walking up the steps of the entrance to shake hands with the Crown Prince, Marcus. I shook his hand with my own as he greeted me. Considering I was training his wife, and was an adviser to the family, It was a welcome sight to be in his presence without having to worry about politics or work. Walking inside the establishment, I held my hands behind my back as I looked around. Seeing quite a few familiar faces, but none that I wanted to directly talk to at the moment.

My fingers were playing with my ring. The one that I always wore. Elegant, but a simple Electrum band. That was, until I set my eyes on [member="Lunara Azure"], who was currently surrounded by [member="Iturizu Yuvie"], and [member="Stardust Australis Skirae"], Both having heard of them, and knew them by sight, it was my job to do so. A saunter over to their position when I noticed the dress that Princess Azure chose to wear. I leaned in and quietly whispered into her ear.

"You know, it would be difficult to defend yourself in that dress."

I left it at a smirk as I was playing the "Professor" as she tended to call me as such. Looking to the other women, I bowed my head.

"Thank you for joining the ball tonight. It is good to see that there are others here that are not faces I haven't had the pleasure to meet. I am Atheus Voidwalker. Crown Prince of Makrosia."

[member="Theodora"], [member="Hadrian Varus"], [member="Daleria Dovina"], [member="Voph"], [member="Lance Claw"], [member="Renla Skirae"],

"You know, it would be difficult to defend yourself in that dress."

"You know professor, not everyone shows up at a party expecting to be attacked or have to defend themselves you know. Sometimes I really worry about the kind of parties you find yourself invited to." The young woman glanced over at the tanned Hellyni man who had joined them, an amused smile playing across her face as she inclined her head respectfully at him before she span around on one foot. The close cut silk of her dress didn't flare at all, but the whole ensemble caught the light quite nicely she thought as she offered [member="Atheus"] a challenging smile, "Some of us come here to you know be seen, meet people...try to have a good time that doesn't involve leaving people lying broken and bruised." Her voice caught ever so slightly at the last phrase, an unconscious flicker of her eyes dancing across towards a clump of aristocrats who were shooting the party sour looks. It was funny how much more comfortable Lunara felt with the others she was talking to you than her own people sometimes, well the people whose houses she had stared at from the street as her mother harried her to school or the market anyway.

"You know, I think he has an even more impressive sounding title than mine, but he's really just the professor," she noted in a mock whisper, eyes twinling with amusement as she winked at Atheus before turning to face [member="Stardust Australis Skirae"] and [member="Iturizu Yuvie"]. "Please, no intrusion at all, it's nice to have someone to talk to here," as she spoke Lunara's fingers traced around the lip of her glass before she took another sip, "I've never really gotten used to parties this big, my idea of a nice birthday is somewhere closer to your's. Get away from the spotlight, a couple of friends, a couple of laughs and no fanfare unlike," she tipped her glass in the direction of the stairs as Alexander Azure, the current Emperor of the Imperium appeared with his wife to a swelling applause. "A certain guest of honour who just loves to put on a show." There was no malice in Lunara's words, just a wry acceptance, for everything that he did the Emperor was allowed those few little foibles of his. Though she could probably do without the knowing looks whenever he invited her to play chess.

While the group was talking the Emperor himself approached the crowd, nodding at his son as he clasped the man on the shoulder, astute eyes scanned the room, already taking note of all the groups that had formed, the alliances and relationships they foretold as he raised a hand. "My friends, you really shouldn't have...and I say that every year while looking forward to the next time. I, no we all here thank you for coming, it's not often that we get to get away from the pressures and stresses of our everyday lives and just enjoy one another's company. After all," he gestured at his head, "no crown. Tonight I am just Alexander, and you are all my friends. So I ask you please, enjoy yourselves, and mostly enjoy the food and drink because whatever you leave behind, my chefs are going to make me eat for the next month. You have no idea how creative they can get with chicken." As the peals of polite laughter echoed from the crowd the Emperor smiled and stepped out of the doorway, making his way into the press, shakings hands and exchanging words as he went.

((OOC: Anyone who wants to interact with the emperor go right ahead, I'll have him respond in the second half of my posts :) ))

Voph offered a grim smile, little more than a formality, to the robed figure that joined him and [member="Lance Claw"] by the window. A human, or at least what passed as a native human in this region. He inclined his head in a stiff bow of greeting to the newcomer. "My Lord. Our mutual friend here had asked for my opinions on his security for this event." He had no idea if the individual before him was any form of nobility or not, but he suspected with the way he carried himself that he was. It was like Voph's old mentor, all those eons ago, had said: True power is to have people know, fear, and respect you without ever having to lift a finger. Something that many struggled with, he found.

He folded his hands behind his back, cape rustling softly as his left arm moved underneath it. Though his head did not move, staring blankly at [member="Hadrian Varus"] , he too was studying the man. A warrior of sorts, he assumed from the way the man was studying him. Perhaps this nation was a warrior people, much like the Empire he had left behind? He smiled, a bit more genuine this time, as he thought back on those fond memories. "As I was telling Master Lance, I am but a simple traveler, here to pay my respects to your emperor. I find myself on pilgrimage around the galaxy, seeking what vestiges of the old world still remain. I must say, I am quite impressed with your Empire. As a man that has led one, and fought many."

He paused, gaze turning towards the Emperor's entrance. The though occurred to him that if weapons were checked at the door, he would need special permission to present the gift he had brought in person. He made a mental note to mention it to Lance at a later date...
