A Desert World (Open to All)

Ex-Soldier | Ex-Spy | Doctor
Luther took another look at the boy and his supplies and shook his head. "You'll never make this delivery alone. Better if we escort you until you have it delivered." Before [member="Tendra Daklan"] could deliver his reply, Rook pulled Luther to the side.

"Are you mad? This patrol has taken long enough without having to babysit bumbling farm-boys! Just leave him be so we can get back to base and relax." Luther shrugged off the taller man's grip and replied.

"How do you think command will react if he turns up dead, on our patrol route, right after we spoke to him? The command want better relations with the locals and this is the perfect way to do it."

He walked back to the boy (hearing Rook mutter "Stick up the Ass" behind him).

"I'll help you pull the sled while my companion looks out for any danger. In return you'll promise to head home immediately after and to try and avoid running around any more crime scenes. Deal?" He held out his hand for the boy to shake.

As Koda walked off.. Or ran off, she went right behind [member="Tendra Daklan"] and [member="Luther Ando"] and heard her name being said and soon realized that they were showing a wanted poster of her to a boy who almost seemed a native of the planet. She saw her face on the data pad as she slowed down a bit and then completely took off once she saw exactly what they were looking at.

She heard the kid talking as she ran off and couldn't believe how much of a suck up he was. He was totally sweet talking these troopers and it made her feel sick. How could someone possibly support such ways of 'ruling' a republic? It just didn't seem right.. Freeing people didn't mean they needed a dictator. Koda couldn't believe how blind most people were these days.. Though luckily there remained some common sense of how to live life.

Koda did have to say though.. Even though he was on the lookout for her bounty, the trooper talking to the kid, at least seemed to be interested in some safety. There were definitely more dangerous people out there than Koda who would kill him on his way to his delivery point and steal his goods and possibly waste of burn them off, using them for other things.

Tendra was glad that the soldiers had showed up, for their presence was a symbol of the new era that Yalara had entered. One of peace and security, and that meant a lot to what was once a back water planet that mattered to no one. While there still was a threat of getting mugged and beaten in the streets, it was a lot safer than it was before the occupation. There were still many against The First Order, but being so close to their capital planet, it was hard to deny that things were good, if not better.

Who knows what those crazy Weequay would have done, not to mention the woman and her Bith companion. It appeared as if [member="Luther Ando"]'s comrade was not enthusiastic about the whole situation, pulling the man aside before he returned afterwards. "Y'know, I was just returning to where I parked my landspeeder. If you got an LIUV, you could escort me. If you wanted." The youth responded, trying to play it cool as if he didn't care either way. He wouldn't say it aloud, but having some Stormtroopers riding alongside him would be pretty awesome.

Night had fallen, and the hunt began. The two parties had already departed, both sizing up their prey to determine how to proceed. "How d'you know this'll work?" The Weequay asked, looking to his partner as he lowered the micro binoculars. The other sighed, rolling his eyes as he put down the small wrist gadget he had been fiddling with. "Everyone knows, Jedi come running whenever there's some trouble. With this tech, we can't lose." The alien mercenary was confident, gesturing that the other follow as they hopped off the roof of a small building. They began to stalk through the night, weaponry in hand as they approached Tendra and Luther's location.

Luther was about to speak when Rook cut in. "We can't spare a LIUV kid. Most of them are patrolling the city for criminals or extracting those who have been injured". Rook crossed his arms. Luther sighed and removed his helmet. He liked to do so periodically to get some fresh air. It was also difficult doing field surgery with it on, so he was continually finding excuses not to wear it. "Sorry mate, LIUV isn't an option. We'll take you as far as the speeder, then we'll have to part ways."

His radio beeped. "I have to take this sorry, you get ready to go". He activated his comms unit. The radio operator spoke "Private Luther, we need you and Private Rook to do a check along Corporal Lee's route. He was paired with a new private and I've lost contact with both of them." "Copy that" Luther responded. "We're currently occupied, we're escorting a VIP home." The operator didn't miss a beat."Who is the VIP?"

Rook made a sound of distaste. He'd probably have a long chat with Luther once they got back to base. That was fine, Luther travelled a lot. It didn't pay to make friends. Luther replied to the radio operator. "One of the wealthy merchants, the type who provide subsidies for First Order patrols". There was silence from the radio operator, presumably while they talked to their CO. Moments later they replied. "Copy that, continue your escort. Private Rook will continue to Private Lee's last reported location".

Rook didn't say anything, he just stormed off. Luther winked at [member="Tendra Daklan"] and (with a tinge of regret) put his helmet back on. "Lets get going."

Koda ran until she started feeling pain in her sides. Surprisingly it didn't take too long today. Maybe it was because she had been running quite a bit already today. That being said, she slowed down and walked off into a nearby alley and rested for a little while. She felt as if she was being watched though.. Like someone was preying on her. She sensed a trap and would have to avoid it best she could.

Danger was inevitable though. After a little while, the pain in her sides were gone. She noticed it seemed to be getting closer to nighttime and she finally stood up watching out for any enemies that might attack her. Koda wasn't too far from [member="Luther Ando"] and [member="Tendra Daklan"] as they prepared for their journey. Keeping herself hidden, she could hear the echo of their conversation from where she stood, but looking further off in the distance, she thought she had caught a glimpse of a laser or something..

It must have just been her imagination... Either way, she would keep herself ready and prepared for whatever was going to happen. It seemed that the danger would be happening soon. She didn't want to help the First Order, but it'd seem she'd have to for the kid's sake. Koda just had a feeling that they were going to be in danger shortly and it most likely wasn't going to be a pretty scene.

Nodding to demonstrate his understanding, Tendra shrugged at [member="Luther Ando"] and Rook. "I should've known better, you guys must still be super busy," the youth spoke, feeling foolish after his request was denied. No doubt, most vehicles in the city were out and about on patrol during this night. As Rook left the scene, Tendra pulled his hoversled around, pushing it down the street alongside the Stormtrooper who stayed behind. Even though danger potentially lurked around every corner, the young man couldn't help but feel at ease. "My father is a Stormtrooper too, y'know."

It was probably that very fact that calmed the boy, even though the soldiers were not gods among men. To him they were role models, righteous and vigilant against those who would do wrong. Just then, a bright red blaster bolt soared through the air, flying past Tendra's head and impacting with the wall of a nearby building. It was difficult to register what was happening, as it had happened so fast. Deactivating the repulsors on the hoversled, Tendra quickly threw himself behind crates upon the vehicle, using them as cover against those who had attacked.

A swift slap upside the Weequay's leathery head caused him to flinch, looking to his partner after missing the shot he had taken. The wrist mounted blaster was cooling down, unable to be used in rapid bursts. "Get that scatter gun out, then! Let's see you do a better job!" Placing down a long metallic suitcase, the other Weequay opened it and pulled forth his weapon, retreating down the alleyway in order to sneak around and flank their targets.
