While the apprentice had been eating, Reign had been negotiating. He wanted, no needed, Bastion to further his plans on the galactic stage. The Governor had been adamant about Bastion's citizens being looked after or else there would be no further discussion. Something Reign could agree with easily.

He smiled at the imposing man, saying
"My friend, the people of Bastion would no longer just be citizens of this great planet, they would be citizens of the Diarchy, my brothers and sisters.. my children.. I would die before I let them come to harm"

He threw a brief look over his shoulder at the young togruta, hoping he caught the allusion to their previous conversation about family. Before turning his attention back to the official in front of him.

Korden smiled back at the Diarch, although it was not nearly as open or friendly as Reign's had been, more a return of a gesture followed by a grim understanding. He spoke, his voice disciplined.

"While I hope it will never come to that, just know that if you look after Bastion, Bastion will look after you. We take care of our own, and should these talks continue as they have, we hope that you will make this place your home... both of you"

Home? That was a novel concept. What exactly was a home? Surely, it could be the place one chose to sleep in the evening, but Kai'lyn suspected it meant something more. He remained quiet, offering a slight bow of his head when addressed—a mannerism seemingly borrowed from others he had observed. He was, through and through, a small predator learning to adapt and blend in. Without any explicit explanation of such gestures or actions, he watched, absorbed, and mimicked to survive.

Once they had finished, Kai'lyn stood, stretching briefly as a few joints popped in a satisfying release. The motion was unhurried, almost instinctive, as if shedding tension while preparing for what came next.

When the two were alone again, Kai'lyn broke the silence with a new question, his tone inquisitive but edged with curiosity that felt more analytical than accusatory.

"Why do you want to be in control of so much?"

"Why do you want to be in control of so much?" it was a valid question, and one that was hard to make someone else understand. The Diarch needed to be in control, needed to have these systems in his hands for what was to come. If he was to bring Order to this chaotic galaxy, he would need to exert control over much more than just this planet.

looking at the young man, the Diarch chose his words carefully.
"It is not a want, my young friend. To bring about the change the galaxy needs, I am required to exert control. I need to be able to guide these systems through what is to come. There is war on the horizon Kai. And I want to make sure these people are as safe as they can be.. I wish that for all people of the galaxy.."
