A Meeting Among the Dead

Ashe Senari

Ashe followed him numbly, his arm was still wrapped around her shoulders so she went where ever he went. Her mind was on autopilot and she felt cold despite the cloak wrapped around her small form. She glanced up at the stars, reaching up and wiping the tears from her cheeks. She took a deep breath, finally finding the strength to speak.

"We could get the hell off this planet if you want," Ashe suggested, going back to staring at the ground as she walked along side Kharen. [member="Kharen Promethien"]

He looked at her and nodded, beelining for the first transport shuttle he could think of, where it went he didn't care and suspected that Ashe probably didn't care much either. All the while he would remain silent until making sure everything was set and they were on the shuttle, his eyes finding her as he sat with her in the room that he had been able to get on the shuttle. "Want to talk about anything there dove?" He looked at her from where he sat across from her on the second bed in the room.

Ashe had drawn her vibrodagger from it's sheath on her belt and was twirling it absent-mindedly. She looked up when Kharen spoke to her and shrugged.

"I don't even know where to start," her mind was making her relive the day he had come home after finding Carliah the first time. The site of Yusan mindless slicing training droids in half replaying over and over. She flinched each time one of them was hit in her memory. [member="Kharen Promethien"]

He watched her and felt the very thing she did, finally resigning to walk over before kneeling in front of her, his hand coming to rest on her should as he looked up and at her eyes with a searching stare before he smiled and turned his head. "Its ok, i will take your pain, you just talk." He did just as he said, taking her pain as his own, and letting her get it off her chest.

"Even if I had told him... I don't think it would have mattered. There's no way he would ever love anyone the way he had loved her. She hated him, blamed him for what she had become, and she had tried to kill him, but he still came home feeling completely numb after seeing her. He couldn't let go, he was determined to try and help her, and that queen repaid him with a blade through his heart," Ashe was almost screaming by the end of her little speech. She wasn't upset that he had chosen Carliah over her, no Ashe was upset that the insane Miraluka had repaid Yusan's devotion by killing him. [member="Kharen Promethien"]

He smiled and looked at her face as she had done that, the tears she would have had coming from his eyes instead of hers. "You... im sorry." He stood up a bit and hugged the woman, his head on hers for a moment before he spoke again. "Ever heard of something called Karma?" He looked down at her face now.

Ashe shook her head, and felt herself subconsciously cuddle against him again. She still felt cold and the half-Echani before her was warm. The warrior sighed as she leaned against him. Something about his presence made her feel a bit more relaxed. She looked up at him and saw that he had tears running down his own cheeks. She reached up with one hand and wiped them away. "Please don't cry because of me," [member="Kharen Promethien"]

"Im an Empath, is comes with the birthright there Dove, stop being so sad and i won't cry... and faking it doesn't work for us as a heads up, it makes it worse." He smiled and looked at her face as she cleared the tears, shaking his head and smiling. "Well, atleast we got that off your chest though, got to say that was alot of emotion i got hit with..."

"I'm sorry," Ashe replied, leaning her head against his shoulder. She felt tired and worn out and she really wanted her alcohol back. The Echani whined a bit as she curled up on the chair she was sitting in. She didn't feel sad anymore, but she didn't really feel better either. The warrior just felt, numb, like all the color had drained out of her world.She growled a bit as a sudden lance of pain shot up her left arm. Her nerves were acting up again. He sighed and looked at her before reaching around and unless she stopped him he would bring her over to the bed and lay her down before covering her with the sheets. His own body going and sitting on the floor, his back to the wall and eyes facing the door, after seeing her like this he would make sure she was not disturbed.

Ashe wasn't sure how long she slept for,but she had a feeling several hours had gone by. She blinked her eyes open and whined at the bright lights assaulting her vision. Her head felt like a hammer was pounding the inside of her skull, and she rolled over, groaning softly. She wondered if Kharen was still there or if he had simply calmed her down and left. He hadn't moved an inch, eyes half opened as his head hanged forward a bit, as if he had passed out yet was still trying to appear awake subconsciously. His body even stayed fully up right as he sat there, like nothing had happened in that time.

Ashe pulled herself out of bed and walked over to him. She leaned against the wall and slid down it, falling into a sitting position beside him.

"You awake?" the Echani asked, nudging him with her shoulder. She hoped he wasn't asleep. Having someone around to keep her mind off of things was nice. Ashe resumed twirling her dagger between her fingers again as she waited for a response. [member="Kharen Promethien"]

He blinked and looked at her, trying to look a ton more awake than he was, his eyes staring at her as they were quite obviously in need of sleep... but for some reason only after a few hours, as if he hadn't slept for a long time and this was the first time he let it show. "Did you need something Dove?"

"S-sorry... Did I bother you? Should I let you sleep?" Ashe asked, concern lacing her voice as she studied him. She wouldn't deprive him of sleep just because she didn't want to be alone. She sighed and let her head rest against the wall. She wondered if there was a cantina on this ship. She could go for a drink and some food right now. [member="Kharen Promethien"]

[member="Ashe Senari"]

"Oh, sleep, trust me, i wouldn't get that if i tried, and i have. What is it you wanted to talk about dove?" He looked at her face, the words ringing in conjunction with his appearence, it looked like he had never gotten a good day of sleep in his life. He smiled though, he hid that fact with his smile.

"Was wondering if you were hungry?" She asked, looking at him again. She could see a few signs of his lack of sleep, and she had a feeling she probably looked similar. She hadn't slept well since Yusan had left, and now she wondered if she'd ever sleep well again. The warrior got up and stretched, feeling her joints and back crack. A sharp pain shot up her left arm and she almost fell to her knees. The nerves in her left arm seemed to bother her more when she was stressed about something. [member="Kharen Promethien"]

[member="Ashe Senari"]

He caught her as she fell and stared at her with wide eyes, his own body shivering from the pain, having forgotten to disconnect their link through the entire time she slept. "W-what was that..." He seemed just as shaken, maybe more so as he had never felt it before like Ashe did on a common basis.

Ashe pulled herself back up and smiled as she pulled off the glove covering most of her left forearm. She held it up so he could see the mass of scars stretching from her hand up to her elbow. She had been hit with a flamethrower in a skirmish with some Mandalorians and suffered severe burns on that arm. The nerve damage had been extensive. The limb was usually devoid of sensation, but sometimes she could feel a crippling pain from the wound.

"I got hit with a flamethrower in a skirmish with a group of Mandalorians. The nerve damage was pretty bad, it's damn near useless now. I can still fight but too much strain on the limb causes even more intense pain than what you just felt. I've learned to deal with it. I'm sure someone, somewhere could heal it, but it reminds me of the mistake I made so that I'll never repeat it, kinda makes me reluctant to have it healed," Ashe explained, dropping the arm back to her side after pulling the glove back on. "Hmm, ill stay connected to you then, dont need you feeling all that pain while im around dove." He smiled and leaned his head back as he stood slowly and smiled. "Now how about we go get some space waffles, im hungry." He grinned wider, knowing the select food he said sounded stupid but why not.
