A Series Of Unfortunate Events

Kitty

The Attention Seeker
"Let's get you some help first." Kitty said to the Gran. His leg was not looking good at all. Kitty grabbed him with one arm and pulled him to where [member="Draco Vereen"] and his bacta was. She wasn't a very strong feline and it took everything she had just to drug him over. She was a bit out of breath after she dragged him over. "I'm going to go find out why he care more about a droid than his own leg." Kitty said to Draco before heading off in the direction the Gran had gestured to. Sure enough there was a droid shut down in a wreckage. It seemed other had crashed on this planet as well.

Normally Kitty would have just left the droid, but for the Gran to value it more than his own leg he likely wouldn't be able to calm down till this droid was next to him. Kitty tried to grab him with one arm but she couldn't pull him like that and she didn't want to put any strain on her left arm. Kitty decided to just use the force to lift him up. Out reaching a hand she ...................did nothing. Where the heck was the force why couldn't she feel it! Something really really weird was going on on this planet. Kitty continued to try and move the droid but she just wasn't strong enough especially when she only had one arm available.

The feline decided to head back to Draco. "I know I've been asking a lot of you and you've been helping us out a lot but can I ask one more favor?" Kitty asked. "I don't think this Gran is going to be able to calm down without his droid which is shut down not far that way." Kitty pointed. "I tried to move it but I'm not strong enough." Kitty remembered seeing a mechanical spinal thingy on the mans back. It seemed his body had some extra assistance. She figured it would be no problem for him still not knowing that electronics weren't working at all.

For a while now, there hadn't been much to hear, but now, Mark wished that it had stayed that way. Off in the distance, he wasn't sure how far, he could he people yelling and screaming. And then there was the roaring, that terrible sound. Mark had to assume that it was the voice of whatever creature had made that the footsteps he'd heard earlier. Suddenly, the screams grew farther spaced apart and quieter, while the roaring suddenly fell silent. Perhaps he was now safe. For a few minutes, all was eerily quiet. Nothing moved, nothing stirred. Not a soul was around. In the trees, some foliage swayed back and forth in the wind, which would make sense, except that there was no wind blowing.
Then, he heard a low growl, a cackle almost. He'd looked into the glass and saw a reflection he definitely did not welcome. He didn't dare look back, for fear of aggravating the creature.
"The force save me..." Mark whispered shakily.

Getting the Hapan woman out in the open let me see the extent of her injuries, and with only two shots of bacta and two shots of kolto, I wasn't willing to waste one on her. She probably wasn't going to make it, and using one or more of our only medical supplies seemed foolish and stupid, and I wasn't going to be a fool. The Gran and his droid were apparently a subject of note in the feline's mind. "Yeah, but let me get a good look at your wound first." I said, opening up a first aid kit and sitting it in my lap, waving her over. "That rag isn't gonna keep it clean, and if it gets infected your gonna need all the bacta we have." I told her, reaching out for her arm. I wanted to wait to tell her that her friend was a goner, and I was less inclined to help the Gran, but I was pretty sure all he needed was a good couple of stitches and a bandage. Same for her. And with supplies as limited as they were, conservation would be very, very important while we were out here stuck together.

"And I don't know where mine fell...." Morgana had commented when [member="Dair Cotarin"] mentioned his saber.
It was only when [member="Mark Sage"] had said so that she even realized there was something coming. Odd, given she would think hers or any of the others Force senses would have altered them sooner. There was something very odd about this place, possible with this planet too. But that would have to wait. Morgana stood with [member="Edison Bulkhead"] awaiting the arrival of whatever was coming.

Kitty walked over to [member="Draco Vereen"] who waved her over and said he wanted to take a look at her wound. Kitty unwrapped the the cloth she had around her left arm and exposed the gash that had resulted from well she wasn't sure how she got it but it wasn't pretty looking. He took her arm and examined it. He said if it got infected he was going to have to use all the bacta he had. Kitty did not like the sound of that. She didn't want all the bacta wasted on her. What about the other that were hurt like Koda and the Gran.

The feline complied with my request calmly. It looked fresh, so it probably only needed to be cleaned, stitched and bound up and would be good for now. I took hold of her hand with my left. "Alright, this is gonna sting," I told her pulling water and dihydrogen peroxide from the medic kit, pouring the water over the wound and wiping it clean before splashing some of the disinfectant on it. "I need to stitch it up and then you'll be good to go." I said, reaching for a needle and clear plastic line to stitch the small gash up. It wouldn't be the neatest stitches but it would serve its purpose, closing the wound allowing it to heal properly without leaving a huge scar or requiring much of the vital medical supplies we had. Once I was done, I bound it in gauze. "You should be alright. Keep an eye on it, if it gets red and inflamed let me know so we can try cleaning it before it get too bad, okay." I turned over to the Gran, tossing him the water and dihydrogen peroxide. "Do yourself just like I did her. Plenty of those, not enough bacta to go around." Looking over the hapan woman, I looked to her friend, "She's probably not gonna make no matter what I do. She's your friend so you can decide whether we use the bacta on her or if we just make her passing easy." I told [member="Kitty"] unsure how she would react. I didn't want to make the decision for her, and I wasn't a medic, I could be wrong.

Mark couldn't even think of moving at this point. He was quite literally glued to the spot. The huge predator sat waiting behind the downed starfighter. Could it not see him? Mark had never known the rancor's vision to be based on movement., but perhaps it was a local variant. Or perhaps it was simply playing with him.
If he didn't make a move soon, the rancor would grow bored and kill him. If Mark could kick the door open fast enough, Mark might be able to get away before the rancor could catch him. It was a long shot, but if Mark was to survive, it might be his only choice.
He took in a deep breath, then made his move. He kicked out as hard as he could, and the door finally flew open. He launched himself out of the cockpit with only the lightsaber strapped to his belt. He sprinted as fast as he could, not daring to look back at the beast which inevitably followed close behind. Everything became a blurry slow motion as he charged through the mushroom filled jungles.
He entered a clearing in which sat a smoking freighter, probably crashed like his own small starfighter. Something large was digging around attempting to get inside the freighter. A massive rancor, similar to the one that now entered the clearing with a roar, lifted it's ugly head to face the newcomer. It bellowed its defiance to the other predator invading in on its meal.
Two titans were about to face off, and Mark was stuck in the middle of it.

Kitty gave a quiet hiss, a flash of her sharp teeth, and clamped her eyes shut. It wasn't a warning or anything just her reaction to the stinging and the stitching after that. Kitty gave the semi stranger a warm look of gratitude as he told her what to watch out for. Her gratitude turned to horror though when he basically said Koda was going to die and gave her the choice of weather they should put her out or try and save her. "Don't give me that decision. I can't decide that." Kitty said conflicted on so many fronts. "Can't you just get on a com and call for help?"
[member="Draco Vereen"]

I bowed my head, a little and then looked at the feline. "I'm sorry but nothings working. I was just flying back from Jabiim when I crashed and nothing electronic has worked since. If you don't want to make that descision, I'll tell you what mine would be, if I were in her place. I'd want you to off me. Better quick and painless at the end of a gun than long and drawn out. She's out of it and can't tell me what she wants, and you are her friend. I will honor whatever decision you make. If I have to, I'll do it for you." I said as sympathetically as I could and still bluntly. She knew what I thought, but she still had to make some kind of decision. "Its never easy, but sometimes you have to make the call." I told her, trying to be comforting. I wasn't the best councilor, but then again I was an arms dealer and soldier for a reason. I had been surrounded by death for the better part of a decade. The Sith had seen to that. There wasn't any chance of living a normal life for me, but if I could spare this poor feline woman from having to watch her friend die I would.

Dair saw as Mark charged out of the forest with another Rancor behind him. He stopped between the two massive predators as they sized each other up. It was obvious that they were going to battle soon, and if something wasn't done Mark was going to be smashed into the ground.

Dair charged in there, not caring that he was literally charging in between a pair of massive predators, saving the life was his only thought. He tried to tap into the force, and almost tripped as he failed to find the icy cool center that was his connection to the formerly ever present force. If a life was not in the balance, Dair might have stopped to try some more, but with life on the line and adrenaline pumping, the more than two meter tall padawan ran on.

The two rancors started butting heads right above Mark. Dair couldn't tell if it was fascination or fear that held Mark to his spot, Dair had never met him but the look on his face told that it might be equal parts. The one that had been feeding on the transport lifted a leg as Dair got near, it was heading straight for Mark. Dair dove and tackled Mark at the hips. Using a nimbleness that was borne of many years of training for outrageous maneuvers in battle, Dair pulled his feet back under him before they hit the ground, and he used every ounce of muscle to power onward.

After a dozen or so yards, Dair tripped on a root and spilled both himself and Mark to the ground. Turning over onto his back, Dair looked and sw that the rancors had yet to notice them, busy as they were ripping at each other.

Kitty thought about what [member="Draco Vereen"] said. Did Kitty consider Koda her friend? What was she thinking that's a stupid question. The real question is does Koda consider Kitty her friend and the answer was most likely no. They had only jet met after all. You would think her not being Kitty's friend would make it easier for Kitty to make a decision but it wasn't. Kitty's stress was starting to build. She needed to remove herself from the situation before she ended up killing everyone here.

"She's not my friend I just met her. You decide." Kitty said walking off towards the crashed ship to try and relax herself.

"Alright then. Why don't you and the Gran go see about that droid. I'll meet you two in a moment." I said to [member="Kitty"] . It was a hard decision to make, I'll believe that. But killing her wasn't on my to do list either. Once Kitty and the Gran left sight, I pulled out a knife and stuck it beside the woman, writing her a quick note. "Make it count" was all it said. If she felt she could go on, she would, but I didn't honestly believe she would wake up in the first place.

I gathered up what gear I could find and hurried to meet Kitty, who should be about five or ten minutes ahead of me, moving towards the droid. I wasn't sure what was going on, but I was pretty sure Kitty was a Jedi. When I caught up to her, I stopped and came clean, "She's got everything she needs if she comes to back there. I leave that decision in her hands I guess." I told the feline. She wasn't handling the stress well so I figured I'd remind her of her code, "Remember, there is no death, there is the Force." It might help, it might not. I would let her decide for herself how she would handle everything.

[member="Draco Vereen"] suggested they see to the droid and Kitty made no objections. Trying to distract herself might help. First she needed to help the Gran though. Kitty helped him make a splint for his leg and helped him get on his feet. He felt so heavy to her and it was difficult to help hold him up as they walked towards his droid. "What's your name and why is this droid so important to you?" Kitty asked trying to make conversation.

Kitty was drastically slowed down by trying to help the heavy Gran walk or at least he felt really heavy to her. Draco caught up before they reached the droid and informed the feline of the choice he had given Koda. Kitty thought that was a good idea but what if she didn't even wake up? The three reached the droid just as Draco tried to comfort Kitty with words from the jedi code. It had the opposite effect on her though. Kitty shot the man a cold glare. "Don't utter those words in front of me." Kitty said with a hiss. That had been the last straw and her stress at boiled over her limit. She felt the changes start commence as her form slowly began to get larger desperately trying to hold it back. "I need to go!" the changing feline said with desperate fear before running off into the forest. She got as far as she could from them before her hip snapped her into quadrupedal stance and her clothing tore a part as she became much to large to fit it. Within moments she was a one ton raging cat clawing at the vegetation since there was nothing else to release her transformation induced rage upon. The other could likely hear her loud roaring.
[member="8t88 B"]

"Uh... okay?" I said, confused as all get out. I had thought she was a Jedi, but obviously I was wrong. She had bolted at just the words from the code. Either a Jedi had seriously wronged her once, or she was a very dogmatic Sith. Either way it wasn't important. She had run off, and there was roaring from the woods. That sucked. She had been pretty and I hadn't wanted her to run off to get mauled. Even still if there was a chance at saving her from that beast, there was a high probability that the Gran and I were next. I pulled my pistols and checked them. Slugs worked fine. Gas operated, no electrical systems. Alright, rounds were good. Two Dragons Breath, four High explosive, two Tranqs and thirty two AP. Well, that would at the very least hurt the beast should it come this way, but I really hoped it didn't. I hoped she had been able to climb a tree or something until it got bored and wandered off.

Kitty

The Attention Seeker
It was only by sheer unlucky coincidence that Kitty ended up wandering back to the very people she had run away to avoid. Her desire not to hurt the two were non existent now that she was led on by nothing but rage and instinct. She had their scent the entire time but as she neared closer to the two it become stronger. The animal insider her wanted to know why it smelt familiar and reasoned perhaps it was the source of her rage.

The one ton feline predator broke out into an all out sprint towards the 2 familiar scents. With a roar she broke from the foliage into full view and took a moment to evaluate her prey. Instinct demanded she go for the weaker one first which meant her for target was the Gran.

If the two were paying any attention to the appearance of this large cat rather than just fighting for their lives, they might have noticed a couple of things that seemed out of place. First off she didn't look like the kind of creature that would live in these kinds of parts. Her coloration contrasted with the surrounding foliage making her stand out. In fact the coloration of her fur was remarkably similar to that of Kitty's or at least Kitty when she wasn't a one ton raging feline. It was unlikely though that any of them knew anything about her race. Her kind were rather solitary and even if they did know about her kind Kitty did not look anything like a Felacatian in her normal form.

Mark let out a sigh of relief as he and the man were a safe distance away. This clash of the titans was certainly cool, but he'd rather not have been in the dead center of it all. He turned to his rescuer.
"Thanks." He said. "I'm not usually so helpless, but every weapon at my disposal isn't working worth a darn."
He pulled his lightsaber from his belt and pulled the power switch to have no activation happen.
"I think it has something to do with this place. It's strange, not having te force to aid me. So, who should I be thanking?"

[member="Kitty"]

Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap was all I could think of as the massive feline charged me and the gran. I was only barely better than leaving him for the beast, but I wasn't that far down yet. Tranqs. I had a pair of Tranqarest darts. Problem was there was a High Explosive between them. Well given my limited knowledge of what was going on, it wasn't a problem for me just yet. I Snapped off the first round, being a pretty good shot myself, while I brought up the other pistol in a flash, spraying a Dragon's Breath round in between me and it. Hopefully that might ward it off for a minute. Man did I wish I had my armor on right now. I could seriously use it, and even worse I needed all of its systems. This wouldn't be so troublesome if I had that armor.

[member="Mark Sage"]

Dair stuck his hand out as he kept a wary eye on the battling titans.

"You are quite welcome. I'm Dair Cotarin, a Jedi most recently from Ossus and the Republic." He offered a smile with his hand and nodded toward the lightsaber. "Winter, my saber, isn't working either. I couldn't touch the force either, and I'm doing my level best to ignore that for the moment. Getting off this planet should be our first priority and hopefully we'll then be able to use our abilities then."

Kitty was a rather large target 5 feet tall 18 feet long and 2,000 pounds, missing would be difficult. The tranq of course hit Kitty and a spray of fire like stuff after, forcing her to back away from her prey. The brilliant display left the large cat momentarily blinded. She swiped with anger at the air hoping to hit anything while her vision came back. All the while her movements and thoughts or at least what little thoughts there where; were beginning to slow down. The fire like spray was over and her visions returned enough to see where her prey was again. She kind of lazily walked over and slowly raised a paw with her giant claws extended. 3 legs though was too little for her to remain balanced as her brain started having a hard time preforming such a mundane task and she brought the paw back down to prevent from tipping over. She tried lifting it again but the same thing happened. She kinda just stared at them with hate now before tipping over and falling unconscious.
[member="Draco Vereen"]

The creature fell down, its heart rate slowing and it slowly falling unconscious from the tranq dart. With the initial shock of fight or flight over, I could tell something about the animal was off. It didn't look native, and its coloring was familiar, but even still I could quite place it. I raised my pistol, planning to hit it with a High Explosive inbetween the eyes. As I did, I felt a pressure at the base of my skull, a strong feeling that that would be a poor choice, then after a moment of contemplation, I could sense this creature was something, or someone I knew. I couldn't quite explain it, but it was there, that feeling that I knew who this was. The gran was unconscious, which was good because I was ditching him if another beast came out of the woods.

I decided to walk over to the creature, touching its head gingerly, petting it and putting bacta salve on its wounds so they would heal. That was about half of what I had. This also showed me the stitches from earlier. It dawned on me. This was [member="Kitty"] the feline. I didn't know what species she was, but shape shifters were not unheard of. "Well that complicates things," I thought aloud. "I am not sure what to do once she wakes up from this, or if I should do anything at all." I said, hoping some vestige of her conscienceness could hear me. Nonetheless I made sure the other Tranq dart was loaded and ready to go.
