Aftermath

[member="Tegaea Alcori"]

Freya could undoubtedly teach the girls many things. Such as military discipline, marksmanship, knife fighting, small unit tactics and swear words. Maybe one of them would be motivated enough to visit the gym and get nice abs.

Regardless, the black curtain was desceding. Siobhan smirked broadly. "That sounds like a lovely idea, darling," she pulled Tegs close, kissing her dominantly, before applying a swat to her arse. "Strip and assume position," she commanded authoritatively. There was a wicked gleam in her eyes. "It is time you worshipped your Queen." And so the scene faded to black before any innocent kiddies could be harmed.

By the time the black curtain lifted the room was in a different state. One had to admire, and possibly pity, the cleaners tasked with repairing the couple’s bedroom each morning.

Regardless, making use of the magic Hollywood sheets which covered just enough for a PG-13 rating, Tegaea awoke and gave her still sleeping wife a kiss. Pulling on a robe she gathered some of the articles of clothing which had mysteriously ended scattered around the room. The underwear on top of a lamp was the most curious example.

Exiting, Tegaea wandered barefoot down to the kitchen where Harmony was already awake and annoyingly perky.
“Good morning, Mistress. Sleep well?” she asked innocently.
“Tossed and turned a bit,” Tegaea grumbled to the troll. “Coffee please. Strong. For Siobhan too. Are the girls awake yet?”
“Not yet. Want me to prod them?”
“No that’s fine. Let them sleep in.” With that she headed back to bed to await coffee and her wife’s awakening.

Eventually, Siobhan got up. She was a heavy sleeper. She turned a bit in bed, realising that her Firemaned blanket had left. This put her in a somewhat grumpy state. Yawning, she rubbed the sleep from her eyes and got up.

It was Siobhan's habit to sleep naked, but since that would upset the kiddies, the censors will be happy to hear that she put on the first article of clothing she could find. It happened to be a blue satin robe. Adequately covered, she tried to exit the bedroom. Her bare feet touched the ground, and that was when things took an irritating turn for her. She grit her teeth as a stab of pain shot through her bad leg. It felt like being pierced by something most sharp and unpleasant in several places.

As a matter of fact, she had to halt her stride, lean against a wall and take a breath. Sometimes her leg performed so well she did not notice that it was a mess, sometimes it was really bad. Feeling unsteady, she experienced a stab of vertigo, as if her vision was blurring and the room was spinning about her. Yeah, [member="Rosa Gunn"] was totally right. Admittedly that meeting had not taken place yet!

Tegaea was just entering with a glass of water when she saw her wife stumble and lean against the wall. Putting the water down she rushed forward to support Siobhan’s weight.
“Hey, it’s OK, love, I’m here. Easy does it, let’s get you a seat.”
Magic TK powers would be useful right about now, but fortunately it wasn’t far to a chair. She sat Siobhan down, and knowing that her wife became frustrated when she showed any weakness, Tegs made no comment for a moment.
“Are you feeling alright? Dizzy? I can get the doc to look you over if you want?” she asked in concern.

[member="Tegaea Alcori"]

"A little bit dizzy," Siobhan conceded very, very reluctantly. With the help of her wife, she managed to sit down without falling. She was out of breath and sucked in air greedily. At the mention of a doctor, her expression hardened. "I do not need a doctor. I am perfectly fine. I am not weak. My body will obey my commands just as armies and the elements do," she insisted. Siobhan...it doesn't work that way. Alas, she was both supernaturally powerful and supernaturally stubborn.

Tegaea sighed and gently held her wife. “Siobhan, my love and darling wife. You are many things which I admire; strong, beautiful, smart and powerful. What you are not though is a good patient, and you’d think you’d be used to it after all this time!” she said with a wry smile.

“You need to be honest with yourself, more than you have to with anyone. If you’re sick or feeling unwell then mere will is not going to make it better. That is why we have a team of doctors and healers in Firemane; to help all our staff. If you really are fine though then I won’t push you, but you just need to realise that what I say is because of love, not to try and weaken you.”

Harmony entered soon after, seeing the scene, she put down the caf.
“Are you alright, Mistress?” she asked Siobhan in concern.

[member="Tegaea Alcori"]

Siobhan preened herself, looking a little like a certain Aurelia Saelari. "Mere will should suffice. I have moved mountains and defeated legions through sheer will. I wanted something and pushed hard enough, and it fell into place. I have the power of a demigoddess, yet my body refuses to heed my command? That's absurd." Nah, there's this rule that says 'your character is not god'. Sorry, Sio.

A sigh escaped her throat. "Fine, you can call a doctor, though I believe it's unnecessary. If words of this gets out, I will be displeased. As far as the grunts are concerned, I am in perfect health." Yes, difficult patient. She glanced towards Harmony when the pretty Dahomian appeared on the spot with coffee. "I am...alright. A little dizzy. My leg is being somewhat annoying."

“I’m not planning to broadcast your medical concerns in the company newsletter,” Tegaea replied tartly. “Harmony, call Doctor Osway and see if she can come by for a consultation.”
Doctor Osway was a known and trusted face in the house and could be relied on not to leak anything.

Tegaea took the caf and handed a cup to Siobhan. “Drink that, relax. Lean your head back and close your eyes. I’ll get you something to eat before the Doc arrives.”

Tegaea swiftly washed and dressed and ordered Harmony to bring a light meal to Siobhan and then stayed with her wife until the Doctor arrived….

"Thanks, love," Siobhan sighed. "I'm sorry for being a bit difficult. I understand that I'm not the easiest patient." And the award for tremendous understatement goes to Siobhan Kerrigan. She had trouble admitting that she could be in the wrong.

Regardless, she took the cup. Her hand felt shaky and the cup shook a bit in her grasp. Some of its contents spilled out, but she managed to avoid dropping it. She took a sip and then another, breathing heavily. Her chest was giving her a bad day. She nibbled on the meal a bit, then tried to lie down.

Tegaea helped Siobhan to the bed and laid her down, tucking her in with the quilt.
“Rest, dear, I’ll have Harmony stay with you until the Doc comes.”
Harmony came in and sat beside Siobhan’s bed, modestly dressed for once, to make sure someone was there.

In the hall, Tegaea was confronted by two sleepy faces. With a child’s unerring ability to sense something wrong, Adril and Livia had emerged.
“What’s wrong, Auntie?”
“Auntie Siobhan is feeling a bit sick. Nothing to worry about. Go back to sleep, dears,”
“I do trust it is not a serious medical malady,” Livia commented anxiously.
“Not serious at all, come on, back to bed, girls,” Tegaea said briskly. She didn’t even know what ‘Malady’ meant. Wasn’t that some sort of One Sith ship?

When Doctor Osway arrived, Tegaea showed the Twi’lek in to where Siobhan lay. “She was feeling very dizzy this morning, and her leg’s acting up. Can you take a look?”
“Of course. Good morning, Siobhan,” the Doctor said kindly…or as kindly as the stern Twi’lek good.

[member="Tegaea Alcori"]

"Good morning, Osway. And I was not that dizzy. Merely a little," Siobhan declared, sounding a bit indignant and somewhat sulky. "It all cleared up soon after."

"I shall be the judge of that. I see time has not made you a more reasonable patient," Osway said sternly. Siobhan might have acquired an absurd amount of titles and caused an absurd amount of destruction, but the good doctor's treatment of her had not changed her days as a junior officer.

"And you still have the loveliest lekku."

"Stop wasting our time and tell me what happened. Honestly."

"Fine. My leg was acting up. Comes and goes. It was...rather bad. Then I felt dizzy. Had chest pains and some trouble breathing after lying down," Siobhan admitted very reluctantly. "I'm doing better now."

Doctor Osway hmmphed a little in a way which would have made a certain Jedi Master proud.

Gently she took Siobhan’s bad leg and extended it back and up both bent and unbent knee and observed the result.
“As I’ve noted before the injury is nerve based more than anything else. The constant trauma there has caused the nerves attached to the hip to misfire frequently. No less painful for you despite that.”

Next she examined Siobhan’s chest, applying a cold stethoscope and listening to the heartbeat. Unfortunately, Doctor Osway was not impressed by Siobhan’s large advantages on display.

“The chest pains and shortness of breath though are rather more serious I think. You need to see a specialist and have a proper scan. It might be the first signs of a heart condition or potential stroke. In any case, you should refrain from strenuous or stressful activity until you can get that scan. I can give you the contact details of a very skilled female specialist here on the Ashira’s Light. She is also in the First Pillar so her discretion and understanding is assured.”

She stepped back and looked Siobhan over. “Overall you’re in quite good shape for someone with so many injuries, but as you age the little problems do tend to become bigger.”

It had long been a cause of sorrow for Siobhan that Doctor Osway was immune to her charms, even though her assets were considerable and very much in her face. Or her hands, as the case might be right now.

Regardless, she looked a bit spooked when Osway addressed her chest pain. "A heart condition? But I'm far too young and fit for that. This is ridiculous. I'm not an invalid," she protested. It seemed that she subscribed to the inaccurate idea that this sort of thing only happened to old people.

"What's the name of the specialist? Give me her details. I'll arrange an appointment with her." She would deny it, but she felt a spike of fear. A legion of Sith she could handle and come out on top, serious medical issues were another matter.

“There is no such thing as ‘too young’. I have seen people with inherited congenital heart conditions have problems in their 20s. Combined with the amount of trauma and stress you have suffered it’s not surprising you might have issues with your heart.”

She produced a datapad and sent Siobhan the necessary details. “Doctor Alise Pender, Royal Academy, Alderaan. She’s a skilled Doctor and Specialist. I’ll send her a message ahead so she can fit you in soon. Not, I add, because I think the issue is critical, but because her wait lists can be months if you aren’t on the inside turn.”

She methodically put her equipment back in her bag. “It’s nice to see you again, Siobhan, even if the circumstances under which we meet aren’t always the nicest.”

[member="Tegaea Alcori"]

"Alright. I'll go see her," Siobhan said a bit demurely, still looking fairly spooked. She did not even use the opportunity to make some corny innuendo about patient and doctor games. "Thank you, doctor. Guess I'll see you at the next Order group convocation, huh?" Those were always fun. What was the Order, the gentle reader might ask? Well, it was a noble and academic society dedicated to the advancement of literacy, tolerance and intercultural understanding. To this end, it brought individuals from diverse backgrounds, races and creeds together.

Doctor Osway patted her on the shoulder. “Early treatment is vital, Siobhan. We’ve caught this early so we should be able to fix any problem before it becomes serious.”

“You shall. We have some new people to introduce. Until then, you know you can call me any time.”

With that she left. Tegaea entered a moment later, looking concerned.
“What did she say, love?”

[member="Tegaea Alcori"]

And so Osway departed. Siobhan was not even in the mood to admire the woman's lovely butt and lament the fact that the stern Twi'lek still refused to let her have her way with it. Alas, she was focused on other matters.

"I may have some problems with my heart. She's going to set up an appointment with a specialist so that I can get a scan. We'll see what it is," she admitted very reluctantly. She looked down, suddenly finding her hands and lap very interesting. "I'm...a bit afraid," she finally said, speaking almost in a whisper.

That got Tegaea’s attention. Siobhan was many things, but afraid was not one of them. She was brave almost to the point of recklessness. Perhaps it was that this time the danger was not something she could defeat, even with her great strength, but something in her which she had to rely on others to fix.

Gently Tegaea gave her a kiss on the cheek. “The problem with your heart dear is that it’s always been too big and generous,” she said, half in jest.
“I’m here for you, Siobhan, every step of the way. We’ll get through this together. Osway is a great Doctor, so the specialist she chooses will be equally good I’m sure.”

She sat in silence, gently putting her hand in her wife’s. The section of her marriage vows in sickness and in health kept playing in the back of her mind. She would not abandon Siobhan ever, especially not now. She would help her no matter what.

[member="Tegaea Alcori"]

"I...am glad for your support, love. I should not be afraid of an...illness," the way she phrased the word made it sound like she considered it to be a personal insult or slight. Her upper lip trembled slightly as she spoke.

"We have the best doctors and medical tech at our disposal. I have wiped out entire armies through nothing but sheer will. Yet here I am. There's still so much I want to do. So much I have to do. With you, the children, Firemane. I will not end up an invalid chained to a bed. Certainly not not, when the clouds are darkening above us."

It was in a way amusing that Siobhan could be so frustrated why her body did not obey her orders like an army under her command.
Yet Tegaea did not smile or laugh. To her it was deadly serious.

“You’ve still got so much ahead of you, love. We’ll get through this,” she said reassuringly again.

A moment passed, and Tegaea stirred slightly. “Let’s get that appointment made, and then perhaps we can just relax and have some time together this morning. I know this has been a big shock for you and I don’t want you to get too stressed out.”
