It's ridiculous! What kind of society evolved to make paper that way? Were there just not enough jobs on Caprica? So did they invent a 'corner cutting offer' as a job in the paper industry to employ more out of work Capricans?
.....Wait, I think I just solved the economic crisis.

Probably just wanted to cut down on all that difficulty turning pages. It's likely easier when there's a distinct slant in the paper compared to the majority of the page's edges.

Agreed, but given the rest of the show, I'd say it was the most reasonable thing they did in four seasons.
