"I got my x-wing when I was around your age. With the Force, there's a lot more we can do, a lot more freedom with flying and the like. I think Jasper Kai'el was the only one in our group that was a better pilot than me, though, so maybe I'm overestimating how well off you'll actually be." She hummed in thought, then just shrugged her shoulders. A ship wasn't a bad thing for a Padawan to have.

Especially with Domxite with her.

"Do you know how to fly?"

"OH wow, an X-wing!!?' that sounded too cool to Zaiya, who was immediately impressed.

"Wait, did you fly an X-wing with the Jedi or with the Alliance? Do Jedi typically fly X-Wings?" The questions came of course, on par for the course for the Lovalla, back to back, half to Iris as much as half to herself as she mulled aloud.

"Does that mean my ship would be an X-Wing and not a shuttle to have space for more people?" Another question, the Lovalla rubbing her chin as she pondered. At least, until her head and colors perked at Iris's question.

"Oh, I know the basics. Shan Pavond showed me a few things, but I'm by no means an expert or know the differences between star fighters, transports, or shuttles. I can plot a course on a Navi-computer pretty well though!"

"Both. At the time the Jedi and the Alliance military were tied together. There was a lot more open war than the cold wars we've been in these last several years." There was no end to the violence then, though now it looked like those days were going to find their way back. Iris certainly didn't want that to come around, not for Zaiya, not for any of the Padawans. And yet, the reality that they might only made it clearer that Iris needed to make sure Zaiya was ready for it.

"Yeah we'll fix that. Can't have my Padawan not being any good with ships in a dogfight. Looks like flying lessons are next in your cards."

"Wait wait wait... dogfighting??!" Zaiya exclaimed, a tiny bit alarmed at that. "But... I just know the basics so far; how can I become good enough to dogfight?" At the most, Zaiya had been thinking she would get a small shuttle to help with evacuating or transport, not actual dogfighting with others in space or the atmosphere.

Her gaze darted back to Iris, searching for some kind of reassurance, even as her words tumbled out faster. "I thought I'd be flying shuttles or helping with, like, evacuations."

"I mean, I'm all for piloting lessons. Flying's awesome, don't get me wrong. But do you really think I'll end up in a dogfight? For real?"

Her voice wavered just slightly at the end, a mix of nervous curiosity and a tiny flicker of excitement. Leave it to Zaiya not to consider this result after she pitched it to Iris that she should learn how to borrow a shuttle just in case.

"I hope you wouldn't be, but I can't predict the future or the like. If you do end up needing to know, I'd rather you do, you know? In a shuttle, there's even less potential help, so knowing how to handle a fight even just to run away will be important." Iris smiled softly, almost apologetically. It's not something she wanted Zaiya to have to handle, but there was no predicting the future, even with the Force.

"So, we'll make you an Ace. Sound good?"

This wasn't turning out how Zaiya had expected; perhaps she had bitten off a bit more than she could chew.

Ace? Like a pilot Ace? There was a slight panic flurry of colors over Zaiya's expression, and even Domxite found it hilarious, sending out waves of colors and hilarity at the Lovalla Padawan's expense. All in good fun, but silly regardless.

"Umm... I guess..." Zaiya began, now twisting a lock of colorful hair with her finger in nervousness and mild anxiety.

"But that will take a while right? We still have to go through the basics first and get that done with normal shuttles before doing anything on a starfighter or dogfighting right?"

Maybe???

"I mean. I'll do my best. I am good with tech... but I never really did anything beyond using a hoverboard -- oh but I'm really good at that!" she added, clarifying.

But driving a hoverboard was nothing like dogfighting; especially when there would be others shooting at you!

"You're stressing out a lot more than I thought you might on this. You're not going to end up some Ace right away, but I do want to lay down the tracks. Dogfighting isn't just being able to bring down another ship, it's how not to be brought down yourself. We've an advantage with that, with the Force. And with Domxite, you've an even greater advantage."

She glanced to the droid, smiling after a moment. The two shared a nod.

"They can meld with you to help you figure it out quicker. The knowledge they'll give you, it'll become your own pretty quick in a meld. It's incredibly helpful."

"Oh... okay," Zaiya replied, a little more relieved in hearing that -- as well as intrigued in what her Master said that with Domxite she could meld and learn things a lot faster. It seemed that with the Force, anything was possible as long as someone put their mind to it.

Now Zaiya was starting to look at this a neat challenge. A ripple of dark orange with cobalt flecks went waving over her mottle spots and stripes in determination.

"Right! Okay. Sounds good!"

Another pause then a subsequent question, "So wait, so Domxite knows a lot more too?" Her attention swung to the Droid, who seemed to preen under the attention.

"What else are you hiding hmmm?" Zaiya would tease them, a smile growing over her growing amused face.

Iris peered at Domxite just as Zaiya did before snickering. Did Domxite have more secrets? Most likely. As close as Iris was with the stone, they were their own people. With their own goals. "I'm sure you'll learn them all eventually. For now, though, we'll focus on the whole flying thing. And healing. Mostly healing, yes? And the meld- Hmm.. You've a lot to focus on huh? Which do you want to really focus on, and I'll set up a proper lesson plan alright?"

"Well... I want to make sure I am doing the best I can to help others first.... so healing, meld, and then piloting?" Zaiya was trying to look at it from the perspective of how she could best help support those she would be with any event of things going sideways. It was Lovalla's selfless thought process than would be more cool for her to learn.

"Yeah. Let's do that," Zaiya replied with a confirming nod, a swish of colorful, determined hues dancing over her rosy golden skin. She beamed up at Iris and gave Domxite an affectionate caress.

"..... and maybe by then I'll be old enough for you to teach me all the cool secret spy stuff!" came her wry, mischievous and perhaps, slightly shameless plug, a giggle following in pursuit.

Well, she had to try!
