All the Little Things

[Entry 10]
I don't know why I keep finding planets with sand. I guess it's not the worst thing in the world, if this is the gods way of punishing me, so be it heh. So here I am on Kashyyyk, at least that's what the guy who dropped me off said. Well I can't complain, the beaches are very nice. I'll be here for a while. It's awesome how I'm not that sad to be away from home. I'd jump in the water if I knew how to swim but I'll settle for standing at the foot of the water.

...

Kafh-en-ma-nofre closed his journal and tossed it on the sand. Along with his shirt. The young man then stepped into the water, just deep enough for the water to wash over his feet. "Amazing, who knew that the water would feel this nice." Ka said with a laugh. He looked the the bright mid-day sky. Then out to the water.

"Beautiful. Kasheeeack? Kashyck.." he shook his head. Damn pronunciation of the locations we're getting annoying, how are you supposed to pronounce something with three of the same letters in it. He let out a dry chuckle and looked around the beach. Practically empty. He wondered where the locals were.

Kafh-en-ma-nofre smirked it was all the little things. That made everything worthwhile. Being away from corrupt rule, not being enslaved. Being off his homeworld. Just amazing.

[member="Kahlil Zambrano"]

"Kah-chic actually. It's weird, but that's how we pronounce it." It was odd there weren't many locals. Maybe it was the time of year? Didn't matter to Kahlil though. The near seven foot tall humanoid gave a small wave to [member="Kafh-en-ma-nofre"] from where he was sitting. A cafe courtyard, where he sat with a cup of Caf to generally watch the travelers go by. Usually, that's all he'd do. Watch.

But there was something different about Kafh, a sort of wanderlust sensation that he could feel. "You certainly came to the weirder part of the planet though. Most of it is covered in a lush, giant forest. Most tourists come here for that. So what brings you here of all places?"

A voice rang as the young man was gazing out into the sky. A voice that told Kafh-en-ma-nofre the correct way to pronounce Kashyyyk. A grin would wash over as he looked to the source of the voice. Sitting was a very tall man. Who gave the Ex-Slave a small wave.

"Thank you." Ka said with a grin as he stepped away from the water. "Kah-Chic." He practiced as he made his way towards the seated man. Along the way Ka would grab his journal and shirt. He studied the larger man for a second, when he heard the man's question.

"I am not too sure." Kafh-en-ma-nofre said as he put his shirt on. Shaking the sand out of his hair. "I just felt drawn here. Maybe the work of the gods...but at any rate, though weird I find your planet absolutely breathtaking from what I've seen so far." Ka said with a polite smile.

"Forgive me sir, my name is Kafh-en-ma-nofre. May I ask, What do you know of Kashyyyk?" He asked, finally pronouncing it correctly.

[member="Kahlil Zambrano"]

"Gods?" Kahlil looked visibly confused for a moment. The only gods he knew of was his father whom people called a God-King, but even he knew that there was no such thing as gods. Perhaps it was another culture thing. What ever it was, [member="Kafh-en-ma-nofre"] seemed interested in continuing the conversation they had going. Though, his name was a bit.. Too long for the young mans liking.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Kafh. I'm Kahlil. As for what I know, I only know so much. The Jedi Temple is about the edge of my knowledge. The rest? A wookie would be better to ask."

Kafh-en-ma-nofre heard the skepticism in the man's voice. It was common so far in his travels, people either didn't understand or didn't care. The younger man still smiled. In the end it didn't really matter to him, for everyone was their own person. Ka nodded. "Ah yes, the gods. Or at least the gods that my people follow." Ka clarified.

"The Jedi temple? Can't say I've run across any uh Jedi. And I'm not too sure what a wookiee is, but it does sound interesting." Ka said with a sense of wonder in his voice.

"Forgive me for my many questions Mr. Kahlil. But would you mind telling me more about these Jedi? I've only heard rumors. Things like this wasn't really spoken about in my household." Kafh-en-ma-nofre clarified.

[member="Kahlil Zambrano"]

"Amazing, given this is the Jedi's current home world. And the wookie home world. You should of at least ran into one or the other when you went to the spaceport." Kahlil rubbed the back of his neck a bit, still clearly confused. Did [member="Kafh-en-ma-nofre"] not arrive in the spaceport? Or perhaps he didn't know what it was he was looking at. "The big tall furry figures. They speak in growls. They're the wookies. As for Jedi, well. I'm one of em myself." He took another sip of his caf, chuckling.

"And, I'm not a sir. I'm only twenty one, and I know I look younger then that."

Spaceport, Jedi homeworld? Kafh-en-ma-nofre tilted his head a bit. "Hm guess I wasn't really looking... The guy that led me her only told me the planet's name." Ka watched as Kahlil rubbed the back of his neck "Wookiees. Big furry things... interesting. I guess I wasn't really watching my surroundings." He said with a huff. Kafh shook his head slightly, he should pay attention more, bad habit he guessed.

"Apologies Sir- err Kahlil." Ka said with a slight embarrassment. Another habit he had to break, he wasn't a slave anymore, he had to ditch certain things that was engraved in his being. Ka cleared his throat still a bit embarrassed.

"So you are a Jedi? What does that mean? Are they like sorcerers?" Kafh-en-ma-nofre asked his interest piqued.

[member="Kahlil Zambrano"]

"Not quite. We use the Force, yes, but Sorcerers are vastly different. No chanting, no spell casting. Just, the Force." Kahlil paused for a moment, watching [member="Kafh-en-ma-nofre"] curiously before a smile steadily formed. "You can feel the Force, can't you? Little things that aren't normal. Maybe feeling someones emotions. Knowing something was going to happen before it does. Maybe you can jump farther then others. Any of that ring a bell?"

Interesting, definitely interesting. Kafh-en-ma-nofre listened as Kahlil explained that they weren't the same. Then he asked rhetorically if he felt the force. Then elaborating that maybe it was him feeling people's emotions, or the Force itself. Or even him being able to jump a bit further, sensing things before they happen. Kafh thought for a second, sure there was a few times where he had certain feelings about things but he'd hardly call that the work of the force.

"I can't say for sure..." Ka said as he pondered it. "Possibly, I don't really pay attention to things like that, mostly just gut feelings." Kafh-en-ma-nofre sighed. "Why do you ask?"

Kafh-en-ma-nofre crouched down and looked around, he could see why the Jedi chose such a peaceful beautiful planet.
[member="Kahlil Zambrano"]

"Well, if you do, you could be a Jedi yourself." Kahlil offered a shrug. Might be a bit much to try and offer such a drastic change for someones life, but he also figured [member="Kafh-en-ma-nofre"] might be looking for something. Maybe that's why he was here, guided by the Force without realizing it. Who knew? The Force was always mysterious. "It's a thing to think about at least. Being sensitive to the Force is an incredibly rare thing as it is, but it's also something to think about."

"Truly?..." His voice trailed off in astonishment. The idea of being a Jedi, more so learning the ways of the Force had only been a product of Kafh-en-ma-nofre's wildest dreams. The young man smiled. It was definitely something to consider.

Ka looked to Kahlil. "I wouldn't know where to start, but it is something I'd be interested in." He gave a slight nod. "Never knew being Force sensitive was a possibility. Growing up on Ankhypt, we usually kept to ourselves. Only focusing on what our Anubian masters wanted. Constantly serving them...every whim. But to think being able to help the Galaxy by serving the common people? Amazing." Ka grinned.

"You're a curiosity to me Kahlil, may I ask an insensitive question?" Kafh asked as he made eye contact.

[member="Kahlil Zambrano"]

"The Jedi would be more than willing to help you learn, if that's truly what you would like." Kahlil was sure to avoid mentioning anything on the masters. [member="Kafh-en-ma-nofre"] was a slave? Perhaps that's why he didn't look around. Too use to keeping his head low. The Zambrano lived the opposite of that life, and couldn't understand what it was like to be a slave, not personally at least.

But when his friend made eye contact the young man met it, offering a kind smile. "Ask away my friend."

Kafh-en-ma-nofre smiled. Friend? Hm a word he only heard, he was taken a bit off guard. Letting out a small chuckle he'd tilt his head. "Why are you so tall? Even sitting down I can tell you're almost a foot tall than me, yet you still call me friend. I sense no underhandedness from you, but still. It's definitely confusing." He let out a small laugh. It reminded him of the Anubians, they towered over their slaves, to be called friend by such an intimidating figure confused the younger man.

Ka looked to the ground. "If what you say is true then I'll gladly lean the ways of your Order. I'll admit that I'm not accustomed to choosing what I want for myself but hey maybe the gods will it." Kafh said, slightly joking.

[member="Kahlil Zambrano"]

"If I picked my friends by height I'd be awfully alone. I'm an Epicanthix. We look human, but we're often taller and such. Most of my family are a couple feet taller then myself, so I'm actually a bit of a runt." Kahlil laughed himself, though certainly for a different reason. He was laughing to cover his embarrassment of being the runt of his family. But, now it was a matter of what [member="Kafh-en-ma-nofre"] wanted to do with his life.

"It's difficult, I imagine, to be free after being a slave for so long. I don't understand it myself, I was never enslaved, but I know what it's like to change your life. When I left my family, I wandered around the stars trying to discover myself and figure out who I am. Eventually, I chose to become a Jedi to right the wrongs I could. I think you should think on it some more. There are many paths you can take."

Heh he was a runt? Unbelievable. Kafh-en-ma-nofre laughed along with Kahlil. "Hm surprising, you're one big freaking runt." Ka said with a grin. The young man stood up and ran a had through his hair. "But I am glad to call you my friend, to be honest it's definitely a strange concept." Ka said as he kept his gaze down. He only glanced back up when Kahlil began to speak again.

Kafh-en-ma-nofre listened closely as he spoke. Kafh nodded. His eyes locking with the Epicanthix. Before giving a friendly smile.

"It is, there's habits you can't break, little ticks that you won't ever get rid of. It isn't too bad though...I guess." The young man paused. "You speak of there being many paths for one to take, yet you chose the path to follow the Jedi. To fix what you've done wrong. That is a good enough reason for me to at least give the Jedi a chance. I don't have wrongs to right, but you've shown me a kindness few have. And you've allowed me to ask questions. At that, I have another question. May you show me the Jedi Temple that you spoke of earlier?" Ka asked keeping his gaze down.

"Maybe you could show me a bit about the Force as well. If you aren't troubled too much that is." Ka said hoping to get a bit of insight. The young man met his gaze again, reminding himself that the man was his friend not a slave master, old habits die hard. He gave a slight smile.

[member="Kahlil Zambrano"]

"I'll show you what ever you'd like to see while you're here, Kafh. Temple, the Force, anything else. You're a friend in my home after all." Kahlil took one last sip from his glass before he moved to stand, stretching his arms over his head. He had been sitting there for a little while. Once he was done he glanced to [member="Kafh-en-ma-nofre"] and motioned his head for him to follow. "Come on, I'll show you the temple. There I'll show you what the Force is and maybe see if we can get you started on the path to use it."

He turned and started to walk away, but he'd wait for Kafh to be standing by his side before he'd actually go anywhere. Better to treat him like an equal, as he is, then give any other impression. "So, how long have you been free?"

A strange feeling, Ka had never really been welcomed by someone that saw him as an equal. The younger man smiled. "I uh. I thank you. You've been quite welcoming." Kafh-en-ma-nofre said with a smile and a nod. His gaze shifting down a bit. He watched as the larger man stood up revealing his full height. Kahlil motioned for Ka to follow, the man spoke and waited for the younger man to stand next to him before walking. As they walked, Ka fought the urge to walk behind the man, he wasn't used to walking next to someone else. His masters never really allowed it. They always had to stay behind, in their shadow. Kafh-en-ma-nofre shook his head as Kahlil asked how long Ka had been free. Ka looked over to Kahlil. Offering a smile. "A few days, maybe a week." Ka said he shoved his hands in his pockets.

"I was mostly kitchen staff for a noble house, but occasionally they'd have me stand in as a dancer. Not the worst slave life I suppose, but I guess that's the mindset when slavery is engrained in your blood. You just stop caring." Ka said. He glanced down to the ground and continued to walk along with Kahlil.

[member="Kahlil Zambrano"]

"Mm. I imagine it will be difficult for you at first to truly stand up for yourself. But, you'll get there. If it's ever too much, just let me know." Kahlil gave the warmest smile he could as he glanced to [member="Kafh-en-ma-nofre"] . It must of taken a lot of courage for him to choose his freedom. Or maybe, something else happened? It wasn't his place to ask anything, not yet. It wasn't too long of a walk to get to the temple, which stood at it's impressive height before them as they closed in.

"Just a couple years ago I wandered here. It's pretty daunting to look at, huh?" Kahlil had stopped and was staring up at the sight, the smallest smile on his lips. "You get us to it after a while."

"In a way, yeah it was a decision I made over the course of a few months. Until I realized it was what I truly wanted." Kafh said. They continued to walk in silence for a bit until the Jedi Temple came into view. Kahlil explained that he had arrived a couple years ago, and that Ka would get used to the sight of the temple even if it was a bit overwhelming. Kafh-en-ma-nofre smiled and looked up to the temple.

"It sort of reminds me of home, back on Ankhypt, massive pyrimids towered through the planet. Tombs of ancient rulers. It's definitely a sight to see." Ka looked to the taller man. "This place is rather... peaceful. If I were to describe it. So this is the Jedi Temple you spoke of? From the outside it truly looks impressive." The younger man smiled. "Not sure I'm ever going to get used to this." He laughed

[member="Kahlil Zambrano"]

"That I do understand." Not that he was going to go in detail. [member="Kafh-en-ma-nofre"] didn't need to know about Kahlil's past as a Sith for now. Still, pyramids? Were the Ankhypt also Sith? Or was that just something to do with people who felt the need to rule over others. Pyramids to show off their strength and power. Kahlil glanced back up to the temple, his smile thinning for a moment.

Were the Jedi no different?

"Ah, well. We live here, learn here. All of it." That's right. Sith temples were elaborate traps to hide their knowledge. The Jedi? A place to learn and believe. "We head inside, go to the courtyard within. I'll show you the Force there, okay?"
