An Encounter In The Cold

Afraid that she might get suspicious, Ren exhaled and sat down closing his eyes. "You have a point. I need to catch some rest anyways." he said sitting there. But not actaully sleeping.

Ai-lynn nodded her head and she headed outside. She went to a spot where there wasn't any footprints because she thought that the snow would be cleaner if no one stepped in it. She scooped it up bit by bit using the pot.

As Ren sat there yes closed, he wondered about his job. It had been a crazy day so far, so he was curious if he'd get to complete it in the morning. His new acquaintance had a primitive way of living. Not that he was complaining, but he wasn't used to going out to get water or heating up a fireplace. Maybe he was spoiled.

The man who was at the door wasn't an illusion, though unknown to Ren. He really was there and went into hiding in the area until now. The prisoner, who had an orange jumpsuit on, heard a door open and close. He peaked around the corner and noticed it was a girl. This was his chance to hide from the police. He crept slowly behind the girl attempting to get close enough where he could knock her out.

Ai-lynn was scooping up snow into her pot when she heard another sound other than the wind howling. It was some sort of soft, crunching sound. Something was walking towards her. Assuming that it was Gren, she said "Told you not to-" and turned towards the direction of where the sound was coming from.

She was startled when she saw that the person wasn't Gren and she yelped in shock.

Ren was lost in his thoughts until he heard a high pitch noise. It sounded like Ai-lynn. He stood up slowly ready to go see what was wrong. He wasn't in a rush since he still believed he was just seeing things. However, he changed his mind when he opened the door to see an orange clothing going towards Ai-lynn.

As he stood there, the man and Ren's eyes met. At that moment, he immediately started calling on the force for power. While the man began charging at him from only a few meters away. Ren started raising up his right hand, as the man raised his left. He's mimicking me? he asked himself. But it wasn't a mimic. He had the force as well.

Once the two's hands were only a foot away from each other, they both sent out a force push. Their hands both shook violently until they both were sent in the opposite direction from each other. The man hit a tree while Ren was sent back into the house hitting a wall. Damn. His eyes widened from all the sudden pain as he rebounded onto the floor.

Ai-lynn fell back into the snow when she lost her footing out of shock. It took her a while to understand what was going on. Gren actually saw something but didn't tell her, and from they way they looked and fought with each other, they didn't seem to be strangers.

One thing about their fight which baffled her was how they seemed to raise their hands at each other and they were soon thrown back with so much force. The thuds that she heard from their bodies hitting a solid surface made her cringe. Worried about the traveller she'd saved, she shouted his name, dropped the pot she was holding and ran inside the house.

His rebound landed him headfirst onto the floor. As he laid there, he tried to put pieces together. That man... he isn't a beginner. But I should have expected this power from and escaping criminal. he thought slowly standing back up. Expecting a followed up attack, Ren got into a hunched defensive position. However, the man wasn't the one who approached him. It was Ai-lynn. He heard his name earlier but figured it was nothing.

As she approached him, he began speaking while hunched defensively. "Sorry about the house, I'll be sure to pay you back. " he paused spitting out some blood from busting his lip on the floor. He pulled his saber to his hand using the force, as he started talking again. "I'd suggest hiding but if you have a weapon, feel free to use it. Looking past Ai-lynn, he could see the man in the distance standing up.

Ai-lynn shook her head and replied, "I can repair this.. myself." She looked at him with concern as he spat out blood, probably from the impact of hitting the wall from such a distance. She was shocked at how he managed to "summon" the weapon to him but she shifted her gaze when she realised where he was looking at. The man Gren was fighting with seemed like he was ready to take him on again. "Alright." she continued.

She got up to her feet and took her axe she had placed down earlier. Ai-lynn wasn't able to fight and could only do self-defense at best. She walked out of Gren's way to avoid being a burden in the fight and retreated to her room.

The man slowly made his way towards the house. This made Ren excited. "I've been waiting for you all day." he said smiling. He struggled so much to find him. Now that he did, he could get down to business. Ren didn't realize that he may of gave his reason for being her though. Hopefully, Ai-lynn wouldn't notice.

Ren got into a running stance. As he started to take off running, his saber ignited revealing a crimson blade. It matched parts of his hair, but mostly his eyes. You could say the color was made for him. His speed was quicker than the man's, since he was a vampire. The man smirked when he saw Ren's lightsaber as he started running towards him. "Have you? Sorry for my wait dear." the man reached into the sky drawing on the force to aid him. When he was done, his hand pointed at the running Ren. Ice came down from the sky at that moment. Many shards aimed at Ren. What would he do?

Ai-lynn couldn't hear a thing they were saying but they were about to fight again when Gren ran out of her house with his weapon - a red blade that seemed to glow with metallic hilt. She thought that Gren would get the upperhand in the fight until she saw the other man making weird gesture towards the sky. Then, she looked up.

To her horror, it was full of ice and she realised what the other guy wanted to do. Gren ran into the trap. "NO! LOOK UP!" Ai-lynn screamed at the top of her lungs while running out of the room and to the doorway of her house to the outside. She wished she could do something to save him but her axe would be useless against the supernatural powers she was witnessing. She was helpless. It would be fatal for Gren if it rained down on him and she wished she could crush the ice into powdered snow.

When Ai-lynn told him to look up, he ignored her. He was sure that whatever it was that it wouldnt hit him. However, without his armor he was a little worried.

The shards came down, crashing closely to Ren every time. With the force, he barely managed to dodge them. Surviving with only a few cuts. As he ran, it was all in slow motion. His saber got into an impaling position. The man was surprised by his evade and didn't see his next attack coming. Ren impaled the man seconds later. "It appears- you have killed me-" the man mumbled in his last words. Ren pulled the blade out and shut off his saber. "You shouldn't have left yourself open." he said looking at the corpse.

Ai-lynn held her breath as she watched Gren rush towards his opponent with the ice shards raining down. She couldn't bear to see it but at the same time, she had to see if he was okay. She couldn't see him clearly due to the snow and him being quite far away from her.

She gasped when the other man got impaled by his weapon. She was horrified when the other man fell onto the snow, limp. The snow was still white as ever and the corpse had no traces of blood. She just witnessed someone being killed and didn't know what to do with the corpse.

Ren turned around turning off the saber. He looked towards Ai-lynn walking towards the house entrance. "Sorry. That must have been unpleasant to watch." he said getting closer to the house. The snow and cold was still there, so he wanted to get in the house asap. I hope she doesn't fear me... he thought focusing his crimson eyes on her.

Ai-lynn was scared. She didn't blame him for killing the other man because she assumed it was an act of self-defense. What she was afraid of was how easily Gren killed his opponent. He was so powerful that he seemed inhuman to her.

She was shivering, not from the cold but because of what she witnessed. Her widened eyes met with his red ones and she couldn't speak.

Noticing her widened eyes and shivering, he exhaled stopping in his place a few feet away from her. "You must not see a lot of killing living here. Where I was raised, killing was surviving. To receive payment." he said wondering if she would figure out his occupation.

Her sheltered life didn't help with her coping with what she saw. She never saw his type of weapon before, let alone witnessing the killing of another being.

She shook her head and choked out a few words, "No. Never heard of killing to get money.."

Ai-lynn nodded and pointed towards her parents' bedroom. It only had a double bed and a nightstand left. She had shifted some of her belongings into her own room and burnt away the rest ever since they died.

She avoided looking at him and was still clutching onto the axe tightly.

Ren walked slowly towards the room tossing his saber onto the floor by his armor. As he entered the room, he noticed it was slightly dirtier than other parts of the house. Must've been a sibling's room. He walked by the bed and fell onto it without care. "Goodnight." he hollered shutting his eyes.

Ai-lynn shut the front door and locked it once he got into the house. She heard him yell 'good night' not long after he entered the room. "Good.. good night." She replied him from the entrance before going into hers. She tucked herself into her bed
