Well. That had deteriorated quickly. So much so that when the waiter finally did come back with what he'd requested, Coyle had forgotten about it completely. "Oh!" he exclaimed gently as he felt a hand at his arm. "Thank you," he said, nodding. What in the nine hells, what in the infinite hells just happened.. Vincent's first response would have normally been to put to use his well practiced knuckles but that was neither prudent nor appropriate for this sort of shin-dig. Far was it from the dives he normally frequented and damn it all, he wouldn't be the one to disrupt an otherwise convivial gathering. It seemed the King was an old soul, not given to the constant shift and change in the galaxy. A relic of time, almost.

There wasn't much else to be done or added as the various parties departed or found other objects of fascination. Vincent bit the inside of his cheek at the rather profane toast, though, hid his personal distaste well. It left a bad taste in his mouth, the blatant, unfurled misogyny of it all. Better the burn, he mused. Bringing the recently acquired bottle to bear, he quickly refilled his flask with the new liquor, took a swig of the bottle, and deposited it on a tray as he stepped off. Never really liked crowds anyway.

His pursuit was hardly that, a slow saunter in wake of the woman who'd been the center of the unfortunate attention - perhaps unfortunate only on account of the King of Ukatis but such were the downfalls of humankind. Or, really, people in general. Coyle himself wasn't particularly a people person but he faked it well enough, that was his job afterall. He had to be good at something other than drinking, and smoking. Eventually they'd departed the more raucous of areas, filtering into what effectively could be referred to as a lounge. The music filtered in but wasn't overbearing, quiet enough to allow decent conversation but fill the emptiness of silence. Still walking, he waited for the right moment, then raised his voice.

"Miss, a moment?" Widening his stride, Vincent made to catch up.

"I like trouble." Another waggle of her eyebrow, and she pulled herself closer again after the twirl. This time, though, she didn't continue dancing around him, and instead pushed herself up on her heels, cupped his cheeks and drew him into a long kiss. The people around her were likely far too busy to notice them, and quite frankly, she didn't care. This was her moment with her husband, and it felt right.

"So give it all you got, babe," Valery said with a fire burning in her eyes to challenge him. "I'm not holding back~"

"Don't look, Aris," Vera said after purposefully ignoring his teasing — she'd get him back for that later. She didn't want to see her Mother kissing her Dad, and she decided to spare Aris the pain as well. Instead, it was time to go dance with Cora and Makko! That sounded a lot more exciting than anything else around here.

Even if Aris was being a butt about it.

"Hey Cora! Hey Makko!" Vera exclaimed with a smile when she walked over with her brother pulled along once more. "Could we dance with you two, please? Aris needs help." She quite literally shoved Aris towards Cora, hoping to put him on the spot a little after he had teased her. Her eyes then shifted to Makko and... she blinked.

He didn't look like the street rat she first saw at the Temple, and what was this weird feeling in her stomach all of a sudden? The bloodflow to her cheeks was picking up a little too. Huh, that felt odd.

"U-uhm. Do you maybe, uh, want to dance too, Makko?" She smiled awkwardly.

What was happening?

Shan turned his attention over towards the commotion at the same time as Colette, raising his eyebrow ever so slightly. His curiosity was growing ever so slightly though that thought was snapped away from him as Colette linked her arm with his and he broke out into a bright grin at that. Though he did roll her eyes at the fancy talk that Colette was using. Not even Cora was that bad. Was she?...Hm...Nah. Cora wasn't that bad, even when Shan and her first met.

"Why would I ever put thy down? Thy's beauty is a treasure to behold. And...erh...thy...thy...Fancy talk is hard. How does Cora do this stuff? Now I wonder how Makko feels about it...In all seriousness, I'd never be able to promise you something like that." Shan broke out into a smirk, leading Colette back over towards the great hall, as dozens of thoughts were going through his mind. The potential thoughts people might think about seeing him and Colette linked up like this but funnily enough, he didn't care. This was fun. It wasn't what Shan had been expecting when he first arrived at this ball, but it was a welcome surprise.

"How do you think Master Valery and Kahlil are doing? Alongside Vera and Aris?" The idea of bringing the little Gremlin to the gala was an amusing one to Shan. Aris seemed like he'd be fine in this kind of place but Vera...Shan felt sorry for whoever caught her attention.

"I'm not sure if that's…"

But Makko already closed his eyes as a sign of the trust he had for Cora to guide him true. While she certainly would try, Makko had always been the better of the two of them regarding more mentalist aspects of the Force.

Cora smothered her instinct to protest further, and instead concentrated on touching their bond. It wasn't as strong as it had been prior to Ukatis, but it wasn't as tenuous as it had been directly after Thule, either. Day by day, they'd woven additional threads between them.

Forward, right, back, one, two-three…

She was a bit tense and he would feel that, but after about a minute Cora marveled that they were managing a basic box step without disaster. When the announcement started, she guided them into a natural pause to give the host their attention.

"Oh, that dress is lovely."
She murmured to him while eyeing the glittering garment. Whiskey wasn't her drink of choice - she was a lightweight who couldn't handle more than a two glasses of red wine - but the mention of a fruity infusion made it more appealing.

A familiar voice would draw their focus toward Vera and Aris. Cora smiled warmly.

"My, don't you two look lovely! And does he?" It seemed out of character for Aris to want to dance, much less request help with it in such a public setting, but she didn't question further.

Instead, she raised a brow towards Makko when Vera's cheeks went pink and the girl shifted awkwardly. A knowing smile kept a grin from breaking across her face, and she turned to the Noble boy with a curtesy.

"Would you like to dance, Aris?"

A vision?

Now that was pretty unique for Ko as for reasons he has been approached abruptly in the past. He himself has never had any visions that he could recall. Tirin spoke of a prophecy. Which gave their words all the more gravity. “A proposal?” Ko repeated to himself. They’re words expressed enough to earn his interest, yet were vague enough to explain basically nothing to Ko or Saria.

The Kel Dor padawan glanced down at the mirialan girl for a moment. As if to gauge how she might be feeling regarding Tirin’s words. Before facing the presumed Jedi once more. “I’ll be willing to hear what you have to say.” Ko replied, letting the man know that he’d be willing to speak privately. Also wondering if Saria would want to as well. Ko would likely want to stick close to her regardless.

“I’ll be willing to hear what you have to say.”

"Perhaps we can make arrangements for a private meeting sometime later," Saria noted, becoming more nervous. "I am willing to hear as well... I believe I simply need time to come to terms with these things you've informed us about."

Prophecies were a serious matter. If he had recieved a vision with her in it, that had a certain kind of gravity that the typical mission simply didn't have. Saria needed some time to prepare her mind for the things that they would be told, and out of the blue at an event like this did not bode well for her keeping her composure.

"I hope this is not disagreeable," she noted, giving a polite smile.

Nerves or not, she had edicate. Saria had an image to uphold.

Forward, right, back, one, two-three…

Makko kept his eyes closed and went with the flow. Through a few bars of music they started to move together. It was quite the simple set of steps, but he felt far less self-conscious. He felt connected to be following the rhythm together.

As the song came to an end, he opened his eyes slowly, gaze settling upon Cora's for a moment before the announcements began. He took a deep breath.

"Oh, that dress is lovely."

"Well I won't keep the dress if I win it," he muttered quietly back. He didn't like whisky. If it was good liquor he was going to feel slightly bad about mixing it in with a cocktail.

He turned to face the eldest Noble children as they approached. He grinned as the music started up again. A lighter beat this time. No slower, sweeping dances. Bouncy and jazzy.

"U-uhm. Do you maybe, uh, want to dance too, Makko?" She smiled awkwardly.

"Would you like to dance, Aris?"

Makko offered Cora one last sidelong glance, catching her expression and then he bowed low for Vera, offering his hand.

"Your first dance of the night?" he asked Vera, drawing her onto the floor with him. Makko felt much more at ease with the freeform dancing to the beat.

"That's fair enough, Shan." Colette grinned at his seeming inability to promise to kill her. "We'll just have to burn that bridge when we get there."

They approached the railing that had given them a good sight out onto the floor again and Colette happily took in the sight of all the people dancing and making merry. Yeah, some of them were people she wouldn't ever dream of associating with, but some of them were good people too, probably.

But then, right as Shan asked about Aris and Vera, Colette caught sight of something quite peculiar. Her eyes set on it like a hawk finding prey with an intense but positively benevolently malevolent intent. Her teeth bit together in a happy grin, her lips parting wide as she felt the slightest flutter in the force as she looked at the way her as-of-now sister stared up at Makko with…

… Flushed cheeks?

Oh, the gods were generous. This was good, nay, it was in fact excellent. A whole host of ideas for righteous retribution began to fill Colette's mind as she gently raised a hand towards Shan, not even looking in his direction as she pointed him at Vera.

"... The gremlin has a crush on Makko…" She grinned with nothing but mischief behind her eyes. "We can use this."

"Oh, we can definitely use this."

"Hm?" Shan turned his attention over towards Colette was pointing, raising an eyebrow ever so slightly at the fact that Vera seemed to have a crush on Makko. "Huh. I thought Vera would some better taste." Shan elbowed Colette gently in the side at that, before looking over towards the group, keeping a small smirk on his face. He wasn't as mischievous as to what Colette seemed to be but it was nice to see his...friend grinning. Yes. Friend. That was totally the idea in his mind. Of course.

"I mean. I'd be careful trying to use it against her, because of her...visions and whatnot. She embarrassed me when I first went to the Noble house. She told Master Valery and Kahlil about this girl I fought on Elom." That was something that Shan would never be able to live down. It wasn't so much as embarrassing and more just...freaky. The way that Vera had seemed to known everything. It always gave Shan the heebiest of jeebies.

"Should we take bets on who Aris' first crush is going to be now?" Shan turned his head over towards Colette, giving her a small cheeky grin in response. He still had no clue that Colette was actually part of the noble family, so he didn't even think about how he was indirectly teasing her new siblings.

Jace was glad for the warm welcome from Alicio to say it was welcome was an understatement for the senator of had abbadon. he didn't make the best first impression he had realized it but was glad to see he had made up for it in the counts eyes. "more than a few senators spoke out of turn that night it's easy to give speeches when one is In our line of work especially when those speeches can change history" he said stood straight backed his right hand going behind his back. His left hand holding the glass of wine he wasn't giving excuses for what he said again.

Jace let out a soft chuckle as Alicio's choice of words "I promise I won't but I won't help you remove that foot either" he said somewhat comically for him anyway it was semi hard to tell if he was joking or not. As they stood there I've always been better at getting straight to the point than giving long winded speeches about humanitarian or patriotic things why the people of had abbadon elected me baffles me still" he said honestly.

HE thought about senator organas question for moment before answering besides the people of had abbadon worrying about the attacks from the mandalorians and not wanting a repeat of the war with the maw especially with the sith being a threat in the galaxy again I had to fortufy their hopes and assure them that that they had little to worry about for now ATLeast he said honestly. He had no reason to lie to Alicio for the man gave him no reason.

Anodyne hadn't even noticed anyone was following her. She was just eager to leave as quickly as possible, and ideally forget about the entire evening for the rest of her natural life. So when a voiced aimed at her finally piped up when they reached a quiet lounge, the ambassador stamped her foot in frustration and spun around, "What could you possibly have to share that I'd want to hear?" She lashed out with venom, inhaling sharply. The man had been present during the unfolding events. Just wonderful.

Reminding herself to present company, Anodyne sighed her way to patience, reaching up a hand to gingerly tidy her hair, "I— I'm done tonight. I just want to go home…" She continued more calmly, a defeated weariness in her voice. Still the woman waited, expecting to hear the man out.

"I can tell."

Kahlil just had a smug little grin as Valery pulled back from the kiss. All he had was eyes for her right now. None of the drama, the nervousness of Vera, the plotting to tease her by Colette, he wasn't paying attention to anyone but Valery. "Trouble it is, then."

"Truthfully, no. But Vera wants me to dance, and that seems like a headache if I try to tell her no." He longed for the comfort of his book. Which wasn't really comfort so much as rigorous studying so he could be ready when he became a Padawan. That was more important than dancing here. He looked back to Vera for a moment, then back to Cora. They were similar in height at least. Dancing would be easy.

He gave a brief bow before holding out a hand. "Shall we, then?"

"Huh, what?" Colette raised her brows in surprise. "Oh, no no, I am saving the torment until dinner or when we're in the car heading back home when the parents are around. Something simple, like… How was your dance with Makko?"

Of course, Shan did speak the truth. Vera did have a penchant for being a little chit and perhaps this was one of those times that poking the 'cub' so to speak wasn't a very good idea. Not that Colette imagined she'd be particularly short on opportunities in the future given recent events. One would even argue that as an older sister it was her duty to do this eventually at some point. She had time to formulate a plan.

"Now, I don't mean to be rude to my little brother, but…" Colette chuckled. "Do the girls in those Atrisian comic books count?"

"Like, what if it's not even a real person? Or what if the little guy just… Ain't interested in people like that? You know, like… I think it's called aromatic? Aeromancer?"

"Oh? Atrisian comic books? Him and Ko should get along like a house on fire then." Shan broke out into a small little smirk at that, staring off towards the group. Before he blinked a few times to himself. The cogs slowly turning in his head before he snapped his head in the direction of Colette, blinking at her in confusion.

"Little Brother?" This was news to Shan. He knew the Nobles were like family to the both of them, but he wouldn't personally call Aris his little brother, or any of the other noble kids his siblings. They were just close friends. So why did Colette call Aris her little brother? There were dozens of ideas going in his mind. Of course the most simple answer was nowhere to be found as he kept trying to figure out what Colette meant by that.

Afterwards though, he shook his head, frowning ever so slightrly at Colette's words. "An...Aeromancer is someone who uses air. Like a Pyromancer..." Shan sighed at that, rubbing the back of his neck. He honestly had no clue what Colette was trying to figure out himself.

"Too bad we don't have a babysitter for tonight," Valery teased when he smirked at her following the kiss. Her hands gently ran up against his chest, and slowly, she started to withdraw to return to their dance. Part of the trouble, of her dangerous little game, was to relentlessly tease him.

Especially because of how often she was his target.

"We'll have to make up for it on Eshan, hm?"

"Yeah he does," Vera told Cora even before Aris could answer her. She then squinted at him and turned back to Makko again, still with rosy cheeks and a lump in her throat. She had never been afraid to ask someone to dance or be goofy with her — it was just mindless, silly fun.

This time, she dreaded rejection.

But when he accepted her offer, she smiled a little brighter and nodded, "Y-yeah, first one," Vera said, before she took the offered hand and followed him to the dancefloor. "I'm not very good at it. Mom was going to teach me, but we didn't have time." She'd usually just get wild and do whatever seemed fun, but this seemed a little more serious.

Then, as the two started dancing, she spotted Colette Colette looking her way, and Vera's entire face turned pale. There was no way Colette would keep her mouth shut about this, and Vera began to panic. Before the night was over, she needed to find a way to strike back if Colette dared to tease her.

Maybe she could replace all of Colette's clothes with things Cora picked.

Tirin Raene responded with a light nod, his demeanor calm and somewhat detached, as if the gravity of the situation was a distant concern. "Oh, certainly, that seems quite reasonable sweet-lings...," he said in a soft, almost casual tone. "I suppose we can reconvene at a later time. My name is Tirin, and here's my contact information. We should meet again once I have located the others from the vision. The prophecy of doom isn't upon us just yet. I sense there's still time..." His voice trailed off, hinting at an underlying urgency not reflected in his relaxed posture. "My apologies for the somber topic. Please, do enjoy the rest of the evening," he added with a polite smile, his words laced with a cryptic undertone that left a lingering sense of foreboding.

"Well, you saw me tread on Cora's toes," Makko laughed. Cora could probably hear that too. Fortunately this was a happy tune and didn't call for formal steps.

"Here's the secret," Makko laughed, coming a little closer to Vera. "Almost no one is watching. No one cares what we're doing now."

He took two steps back and pulled a ridiculous chicken-flapping-its-wings move.

"See? No one cared. Everyone has their own stuff going on. Well..."

He had followed her gaze to Colette.

"...Colette might be watching us but she's basically a barbarian so doesn't count."

Alicio favored the man's joke with an easy chuckle, one that he hadn't released often that night. Most of his conversations had been filled with stories of war. Sadness. Contempt as the odd profiteer tried to make money off a starry-eyed Senator.

"They elect us because they hope we represent them." Alicio's gaze was inevitably drawn to the dance floor. To the pack of young Jedi, learning how to dance. A sad genre of smile found his face. "They hold us up, they listen, because they trust us. And we should hope to maintain that trust, listen to their worries, fight for them." At least, that's how it should have been. "The Alliance has lost the trust of many people, recently."

besides the people of had abbadon worrying about the attacks from the mandalorians and not wanting a repeat of the war with the maw especially with the sith being a threat in the galaxy again I had to fortufy their hopes and assure them that that they had little to worry about for now ATLeast

"They should worry." Alicio's mirth had drained, back to the somber attitude he'd carried before. "The Mandalorians, the Sith threat, cannot be wished away by our assurances. It's that worry that will solidify our people. Band us all together, in the face of catastrophe." Then, the Alderaanian seemed to reconsider. "Or shake us apart. I suppose we'll see which happens first."

"It wasn't just a speech to me, you know. I believe every word of what I said on Lohopa II."

Oh, then aeromancer wasn't what Colette wanted, and Ko liked Atrisian comics which was good to know.

"Ohhh, riiiight…" Colette mumbled before she spoke up with a happy smile. "I accidentally convinced Valery to adopt me, so… Yeah, Aris and Vera are family now."

"It was mostly formality, really. I've been helping out since I arrived in New Cov. The kids apparently already saw me as a sister."

How long ago had it been now? The timelines in Colette's mind and reality seemed to blur for a moment. It had been an overwhelming day, it made sense that her mind had sort of misplaced it in a manner of speaking.

"It feels kind of weird, you know?" She let out a soft chuckle again as she looked at the way Vera clearly panicked at having been noticed. The newly appointed elder sister gave her younger sibling a warm smile to let her know that she was off the hook for now and turned back to Shan again. "They matter to me, a lot. And they're really nice."

"... Even Vera."

"Does she now?" Cora mused softly, still keeping Makko Vyres Makko Vyres and Vera within her field of vision. This was the first time she'd seen the little Noble look flustered and it was absolutely adorable.

Thank Ashla it was Makko, too - he was a safe choice for a tween to be embarrassed around. She couldn't blame Vera either, given the handsome figure he'd cut in his suit. The street kid from Denon cleaned up rather well.

For his part, Aris was uninterested yet polite as he'd always been. Cora smiled, taking his hand.

"Ashla, when did you get so tall? You're going to dwarf me soon!"
Her laugh was easy as they settled into the rhythm. "What was that you were reading earlier?"

Catching Makko's erratic movements from the corner of her eye, she couldn't help but snicker quietly.
