An Un-Common Friendship

Kay-Larr

Sphaera Tea Company Owner
Things were back to normal. Well, sort of. The return of Kay's memories brought her something that she didn't quite expect. Some confusion. It wasn't as though a light switch went on and everything just fell into place. No. It was like living two different lives at once. Instead of finding the missing pieces, she now had to sort out which of two puzzles they belonged to. That was the difficult part.

Not so long ago, [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] had attempted to help her regain her memories by recreating one of their afternoons together. It didn't work, unfortunately. But Kay felt more badly for him than she did for herself. It was a valiant effort on his part.

Now that she remembered everything, she just had to reach out to him as she promised that he'd be one of the first that she'd tell. So now she was fulfilling that promise by sending him a message.

~Hey there,

Guess who's back? Want to come by for a visit?

Kay~

Short and to the point. It should work.

[member="Lady Kay"]

The message was clear, and it brought Josh great joy to hear that Lady Kay had finally regained her memories. He had tried hard, he really did, to try and help her regain them. He had retraced their steps together, taken her out on a picnic, taken her to the caves, given her one of those underwater glowing flowers she had given him before, everything like that. But nothing had brought her memory back and it frustrated him but he was intent on continuing to try. But it seemed that Kay had regained her memory on her own, which was good.

So The FInal Dragon soon after would land at a designated landing pad on Commenor, where he knew their Queen would be waiting...

And she was waiting, eager to see [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] and really catch that glint in his eyes that always led her to believe that he was up to something, or ready to crack a joke. He always knew how to cheer her up.

The moment that he stepped out of his ship, Kay grinned as she stood there, trying to decide on whether to run up to him or not. She decided to wait, mindful of her guards that watched from a short distance away. But once he did approach, she wrapped her arms around him tightly. "I've missed you! And thank you for trying to help. So many stayed away, but you remained loyal. It means so much...Thank you."

While Kay tried to remain professional with her guards there, he really wouldn't have minded if she had just ran up to him and leaped into his arms. Okay, maybe that was a bit much, considering they weren't a couple, but it wasn't like he hadn't missed her to where that wasn't warranted. Either way, once they got in range of one another, he would let her make the first move, the 6'4 Jedi Master smiling down at Kay-Lar as the now-Queen Of Commenor would wrap her arms around him. He let out a ginger exhale as he would wrap his large arms around her, pulling her into a tight hug as though for the first time he was greeting an old friend after so many years. In a way, he very much was. Kay had been here in body, but not fully in mind...

Truthfully, this was the first time he was seeing the Kay he knew in several years.

"I've missed you. More than you'll ever know" He spoke softly as he gently pressed his forehead to hers, bending his knees a bit so he could be level with her without releasing the embrace. "Don't worry a thing about all of that, Kay-Lar..."

He chuckled lightly as he looked into her eyes before speaking, that cheeky little smirk crossing his lips.

"That's what friends do."

Kay smiled as [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] held her in a hug. And as usual, it didn't take him long to go from being sentimental, to being cheeky. But she appreciated it all the same.

"Yes. You're one of the best friends that I've ever had." She took his hand and pretty much pulled him to follow her. "Come on. Let's go to the gardens. I have some news." There was much for them to talk about, but there was something pressing on her mind that happened, so much that she had seen when her memories came back, Kay just didn't want to blurt it out where too many could hear her. The gardens were more private.

"You'd have to be one of the best friends I've ever had for me to put up with all that memory chit. The big romantic memory trip to the caves gave me flashbacks of how horrible trying to date in general was" He joked, shooting her another cheeky grin as he would squeeze just a little bit in the hug, indicating he was merely teasing. "But in all seriousness... I'm just glad to see you as you again. Not to say memoryless you wasn't lovely and all, I just... I'm glad to have you back" He spoke softly, serious for the moment at least.

He was curious when she took his hand and pulled him toward the gardens, proclaiming she had news. "Oh really? I have news too, I suppose" He would respond as they made their way to the gardens. Once they did, he did get in one more joke at least.

"So, question. Do you remember you have a god-son now?" He cracked. "As for your news, let me guess... You... Have a sister! I could almost swear it was true the minute I saw you and Anora at the wedding" Continued the wise-cracks. This wasn't the first bit of cracking wise when it came to him referencing them looking alike, so it was a given he'd throw it now.

"But seriously though... What's up?"

Kay's jaw dropped slightly. "Romantic memory trip? You've got to be kidding me. It wasn't even like that the first time around." She stuck out her tongue at him. As they walked however, she took notice as [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] remarked on there basically being two versions of her. He wasn't the first to say that, but it paled in comparisson to how she felt. At times she would get confused over certain memories, some of which were just dreams. It was hard to determine which were which.

He asked his question then, about his son. Kay nodded in response. "Yes, I remember. He was so small, and timid. But what a heavy sleeper!" And sleep he did. Through a party and everything. It was an amazing talent.

Kay smirked as he joked about herself and Anora. She gave him a bit of a shove. "No, that's not it. But it does have to do with family." She hushed her voice then, not wanting others to hear. "...I'm with child. Just a couple of months along, so there's still some risk, but if all goes well... " She just let that hang in the air.

"Oh? Are you sure?" He would inquire, a big, cheeky grin crossing his lips. Of course he was just messing with her. That couldn't be anymore obvious. But he still couldn't help himself. "Maybe you're just having... Memory issues? Again" He cracked, laughing a bit in turn as the two made their way to the gardens.

He would smile brightly then as Kay would mention his son's heavy sleeping habits. It was interesting, how quickly he just brightened up when talking about his son. It was as though the very mention just brightened his mood every single time. It was a testament to the love he felt for his wife and his son. "He's a heavy sleeper, for sure... It helps in certain instances" He teased, his smile being replaced by a big, goofy grin once again.

He laughed then at the shove. "Maybe you just don't remember your twin sister?" He cracked, not being able to help but make fun of her and [member="Anora Vahn"], though would listen then as she would give her news. His eyes widened for a moment at the revelation... And then his lips twitched into a big smile as he pulled Kay into a big hug once again.

"That's wonderful, Kay..." He spoke softly. He knew the wonders of being a parent, as hard as it was... She was going to be happy, he knew it deep down.

"Congratulations. Really, I mean it. The experience isn't easy but... It's amazing."

Every little cheeky comment [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] gave deserved another shove. And so he'd get them. Every. Single. Time. Did the comments bother her? Not in the slightest. He was one of her best friends and she wasn't going to try to be rid of him anytime soon.

Then came the hug. He hugged her tightly and when he spoke, she could feel the pride in his voice, the joy that he felt with being a father. "Thank you, though I don't expect it to be easy at all. Veiere will be gone a lot of the time, I'm sure. Plus I have a large amount of worlds to look after with the Senate no longer being...well...around. But I'll manage as I always do. Maybe I'll hire more staff to help look after the child when I have too much work piling up. I'm sure that it'll be much easier to find a nanny than it will be to find people to help run things with me." Reliable staff were hard to come by, as were reliable government officials. But one day everything could work out perfectly.

"I may be a bit older, young lady, but I will still tickle you to death if you continue shoving me" He quipped back at her, shooting her that mischievous grin once again. But the subject turned softer as it came to their parentage, or well... Josh's current one, and Kay's child to be. "It won't be easy... Though you'll likely have an easier time finding a sitter than me" He remarked with a laugh. "Seriously, do you know how hard it is for a Jedi to find a blasted nanny? It was easy when Shmi wasn't on duty, but now she's back in the fold, so we're having to find a sitter" He would admit. "It's hard, but... Worth it."

It definitely was... He just hoped she soon saw that as much as he did.

Older? Ha! She was the older one. [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] might feel older than her at times, especially now that he was a parent. But she was really the older one.

The fact that he mentioned it being hard to find a sitter caused her a bit of worry. Would she go through the same? Would it be difficult to find someone? Or would she have to take the little one with her wherever she went. It was hard to say. Maybe Veiere would be there to help. Surely he'd want his child raised in the proper ways of the Force. The Galaxy didn't need more politicians afterall. "Finding someone is one thing, but finding someone that you could trust is another. Hopefully the right person comes along for you."

He did mean that he was older than he had been during their last meeting with her having her memory of course, but either way, he was still going to tickle her at this rate... Either way, he would nod his head, taking a breath. "You're correct" He would remark. "Finding the right person is much harder, though you do have far more options at the least... While I'm not exactly short on funds, I don't have the connections you do to find a great deal of options."

He smirked lightly at that.

"In the grand scheme of things, my role is dwarfed by yours. I do have to admit, you make me feel like quite the bit player, being around you" He would admit jokingly, with a smirk. "But I think the both of us have the same chance of finding the right sitter.

Oh! Right, I forgot about the news I meant to share" He would admit, scratching his head and chuckling. "Silly me, how could I forget?"

He took a breath, and shrugged his shoulders.

"I've been invited to join the Silver Assembly."

Kay had to smirk. Having plenty of funds didn't mean that the right person could be found. She knew that enough when trying to find the right people to help her to govern. "I make you feel like a bit player? My territory and government is quite small. We have no influence over anyone and we are constantly overlooked. In a way that's a good thing. It keeps war away from us."

She raised a brow as [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] announced that he had news. She was about to ask what it was when he went right out and said it anyways. Kay's expression was a little blank, but more so as she hadn't heard of it before. "Silver Assembly? Is that....a council of some sort?"

"I dunno, Your Highness... You govern an area, small as it is. I'm just a guy who runs around hitting people with a laser sword" He would crack, starting to laugh in turn. What a way to put his role in perspective, huh? "They don't even pay that much. I lucked out, I own a business that is pretty self sufficient since I had a good staff who I let do what they knew how to do instead of their last boss who had to control everything and made the place tank. My take on the profits provides for my family, and funds what I do.

Not that I'm going to blame the Jedi for not paying much. Since we're not slaves to the Republic or anything now, even if the Republic barely paid us a damn thing to start, the greedy chits... Where are we going to get the funding to pay the Jedi a proper wage?"

It was kind of upsetting when you put it that way though. The Jedi were one of the hardest working professions in the galaxy, when you think about it. Their entire life had to be dedicated to it. They didn't usually have time for simple pleasures, even. Josh had it here and there since he'd reduced his schedule to be a family man, but that was Josh. And he'd been severely underpaid when he was as dedicated to the cause as he was, to the point of putting a serious strain on his health.

Either way, he had the funding to do what he wanted to do, and provide for his family, so funds didn't bother him much.

Casually moving on, he would chuckle when she admitted she didn't know what the Assembly is. "It's the Jedi Council for the Silver Jedi, yes" He would respond. "Even I didn't know it was called the Assembly until now."

Laser sword? Ha! That was quite the way to describe it. More like an over-glorified torch. But who was she to make fun? Kay had two of them of her own.

She listened as [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] let her kniw about the unfair wages that the Republic and others gave the Jedi. If she knew that back then, then she might of been able to go about fixing it. But her voice in the Republic was hardly heard.

"Commenor's not like that. We fund the Jedi well. There is no poverty among them, nor do they have to worry about room and board."

He spoke of the Silver Assembly then, affirming her guess as to what it was. "Well congrats. I hope that you can steer them in the right direction." Just like the Republic, the Silvers had taken a detour from the road that they should be on. But maybe too many wars would do that to an orginization. It was difficult to say.

"How do I get on that payroll?" He joked in turn. Though he had to wonder how the Silvers managed to fund a private army of Non Force Users as well... He'd have to ask about the whole thing with Valae later. Maybe he just hadn't paid attention to how much the Silvers paid since he didn't expect them to pay much, and he hadn't paid attention to Silver salaries in his records... Republic ripping off their one thing keeping them afloat for years would do that to you.

He smiled then as she congratulated him. "Thank you. I'm hoping I can do well with it" He would respond calmly in turn. "Feels weird being in a position like this again."

Kay laughed as [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] joked about being under her employ. In truth she'd love to have him. However it was difficult enough to keep her husband around, let alone be able to have Josh stay. The life of a Jedi was never one that could be confined to just one government. They governed themselves. Veiere made it clear to her many times as to why that is. And it was the same reason that she didn't reveal her Force Sensitivity to most. For her husband to be King and have the abilities was fine. He was a trusted Jedi. But Kay was known to being only a politician. If it was learned that she was Force Sensitive, they would consider her a cheat. Palpatine ruined that.

She grinned as he commented on having a role to play again, in the grand scheme of a government. "Just don't let it get to your head. With power comes great responsibility."

It was a nice idea, but Josh just wasn't one that could be tied down to a governing body. Not again. Kay knew this personally, of course. He had told her all about the times he'd dealt with the Republic... He just couldn't serve a governing body again. It had to be a Jedi Order, solely a Jedi Order... Or nothing at all. He was completely dedicated to his cause, and she knew that. Not to mention... It was easier to leave a Jedi Order than a governing body. If the Jedi Order he was in was not operating the way he would... Then he could leave, simple as that. But governing bodies were more... Difficult. They liked to spin things, propaganda and all that... People were labelled traitors when they were the complete opposite, even if they were merely just wanting to get out and do something else.

He would chuckle then at her remark about power and responsibility. "Whatever you say, Kaydee-Woman" He would tease, as though there was some kind of pun behind it. "Throw in enough of the "great" word, did you?"

With that though, he would yawn, and stretch out.

"It feels weird, being in this position... But at the same time it feels right. Like I can truly make a difference again."

[member="Lady Kay"]

Kay just smirked as [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] continued to tease her, like always. It didn't bother her though. She heard that prenancies can get people moody, so she hoped to not go through that, but one never knows. Maybe she'll lock herself away when that happens.

She nodded as he revealed the feeling of being a part of something. It was human nature to want to belong, it was why so many sought companionship in many forms. Everyone wanted to feel special and to have a purpose.

"Hopefully the difference you make is a good one. I know that some governments that were supposed to be good, have done bad things. Try to steer them away from punishing and killing innocents, would you?"

"I know" He spoke softly, as his tone turned serious for a moment. "I know."

He had seen it, been there for more of it with the Republic than Kay could ever dream of. She had dealt with that for what, a year? It had been years for him. He watched it destroy what he loved. He watched it destroy everything he had ever worked for. He had watched it corrupt all that he loved and turned it against him. Made it a weapon against him and drove him away from the galaxy at large. All of his pain, his suffering... Much of it had been caused by this. But that didn't undermine what Kay had seen either. They both knew what these kinds of governments could, and would do.

"I hope I can make a difference here. But that's not the only reason I want to be on that Council" He would admit, letting out a sigh as he would stare out at the garden around them. "I desire something more than just to help the Silver Jedi. While I intend to help to do what I can with them on the Silver Assembly, that's not my end-goal, I've decided. I've done a lot of thinking about things... About the Sith and the Ren and the Dark-Siders... What they've done to us, the galaxy at large, to the Jedi... And to you."

He took a breath. "You in particular, what happened to you is part of what woke me up to what has to be done. If we don't stop them, they will take us out, one by one... And the suffering I've endured, and you've endured... Will only continue. It'll only get worse. More people will suffer like you and I" Josh spoke as he shook his head, and looked back at Kay. "I don't want to see what happened to you, or what happened to my brother... Ever happen again. For that, we need to work together as Jedi... That's just a fact.

The fact is... Us, as Jedi... We are divided. I don't know why, whether it be egos or just a sheer arrogant desire to have nothing to do with Jedi that do not share the same habits as they do... We cannot seem to get along. The dark-siders are together. They invade us in pairs and soon enough, they could very well wipe us out. We need to work together... That's a fact.

That's why I've decided to work with many of the other primary Jedi Orders. See if I can foster the seeds for that, that are needed. The Silvers are apprehensive of the others. I'm hoping that as part of the Assembly, I can fix that. They'll know I'm working with the others. They shouldn't have a problem, I hope."

He shot her a grin.

"I mean, they're Jedi, right?"

Though a joke crossed his mind after that, and he chuckled a bit.

"Guess I'll be meeting your husband at some point when I start making calls, huh? Hard to believe I've only said two words to the guy, and you didn't even have your memories for it."
