An Un-Common Friendship

Kay-Larr

Sphaera Tea Company Owner
Kay nodded. It was an uncommon friendship that herself and [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] had shared. They could argue and be stubborn, yet still manage to find an understanding in one another. And it did nothing to cause tension between them. Instead it only enhanced their relationship.

"Just do your best in whatever you do. Try to keep an open mind. Appearances can be deceiving afterall." All cliché of course. But sometimes it needed to be said.

"Shall we head back?" Kay was feeling as though she needed to put her feet up and rest.

Lady Kay was one of the few he could learn from. One of the few he trusted. One of the few who he learned something new everytime they spoke. And it was true... She was good for an alternative perspective. She did not hold much for agendas... Only wishing for the safety of those in her jurisdiction. He wasn't sure if that could also be considered a bias... But her bias was not in Jedi or Sith either. An interesting situation to be in...

"I suppose so" He spoke calmly as he would take her arm gently, happy to help make sure she would get back to her spot gently. "I'll have to keep an open mind indeed" He said as he would begin to help her back to their original spot. "Going to be weird considering how my whole life's gone, but... Well, I've done stranger things."

Kay hooked her arm with his. It was good to have their kind of argument, the kind where they actually listened to eachother. If others in the Galaxy did the same, it'd be a much different place. More peaceful. But that was just a pipe dream. The same kind of dream that involved abolishing slavery. It just couldn't happen everywhere.

She laughed a little as [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] said that it was going to be weird for him. "Life is weird and so are you. I don't think that anyone can say that their life hadn't been strange at one point or another. But you're doing well so far. I'm proud of you, at least." And she was. He had accomplished a lot without letting it get to his head. Despite the dark times, he had managed to keep his sense of humour. And that was a positive thing. It gave her hope.

As they hooked their arms, he would smile then. Their friendship was interesting, abnormal, but good. Healthy. They had differing opinions but embraced one another's and were honest with each other on them instead of going at each other's throats. It was easy for one to learn from the other as one did not judge the other for how they felt, thus they were able to express it freely.

"I'm weird? I'd say I'm quite tame compared to the Queen Of Commenor" He would tease back, shooting her a grin in turn. "But thank you" He spoke then as he would stretch out a moment with his free arm. "Can't say I'll ever go without bias. This has been my life for... Well, pretty much my whole life, after all."

Instead of smirking as [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] called her weirder than he was, she just grinned and held her head up high as though she was proud of the fact. Maybe in some small way she was. It was better to be different than to be more of the same. Besides, life was boring without weird people waking people up from their dullness.

"We're all biased. Mostly biased to ourselves. Look at me for example, I'm biased to Commenor and all of the other planets under my care. Everything that I do, every deal that's struck, it's all to ensure that we continue to prosper and continue to be safe. It might not be the best way to be, but it's done very well for us so far. Perhaps it's selfish, but for all of those under our protection it isn't. They enjoy living without fear." And it gave her less to stress over as well.

Things were better interesting... Force knows he'd lose his mind if everything was dull. He needed a bit of excitement in his life, whether he wanted to admit to it or not. So he only smirked in turn and nodded his head as the pair would return to their original place.

"And I'm biased in wanting what's best for the Jedi... And my family. Perhaps more my family these days... Over the years, I've gone from completely subservient to a cause... To becoming more and more selfish. More independent... But also more selfish. And I'm still figuring out whether that's a good thing or not" The blonde would admit, letting out a sigh. "And yet I feel more human too. As if I wasn't before."

Kay laughed to herself as [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] mentioned being subservient. It wasn't as though she felt that he wasn't. It was just that she couldn't see herself as being that way. She had spent a lot of her time freeing slaves, breaking them from a subservient lifestyle. But one of her bodyguards liked to point out that she was a slave to her position. She denied it of course, but bit by bit she could see that perhaps there was some truth to what he had said.

"You've gone through a lot, lived through a lot and seen things from different perspectives. You have compassion and a want to protect people. That's what makes you human. The moment that you stop caring is the moment when you become less so."

That perhaps was what he had been. A slave to his position. He'd dedicated himself wholeheartedly to it for so long as it was all he knew, and it was important... But it had controlled him, chained him too. He hadn't gotten to eat the fruits of life, smell the roses, see all that was around him because he was so busy trying to create a future for others.

He nodded his head slowly when she spoke. "I suppose so" Josh would answer, letting out a ginger exhale. "Kark, this makes me feel old. Look at me, I'm getting soft, and now I've got a kid! I'm going to start getting wrinkled soon!" He cried out in a mock tone of being upset. Truthfully, Josh still looked fairly youthful... It was a strange quirk of his.

Kay laughed at [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] joking about being old. As if! She was older than him by nearly a decade. Perhaps her position has given her more privledge, allowing her to be pampered more with more time in her offices than the sun. Or maybe it was because she was pregnant.

"Oh how you suffer so, Josh. If you want to feel old, then get pregnant." Kay stuck her tongue out at him in that usual playful way of hers.

They were nearly at the entrance to the Palace now.

He stuck his tongue at her when she seemed to take another stance in regards to his "being old" remarks. She didn't look it, but he'd forgotten that Kay herself was fairly old herself! She was what, in her early 40s now? Josh was still in his late 20s, and still had another decade before he could be considered "old" probably. But he felt it! Which was true, his body felt like lead.

"How?" He cracked right back with a laugh. "My body feels old enough as it is, I don't think it could handle one" He then joked, shaking his head and chuckling in turn. "If I keep taking more knocks, I might be in a wheelchair before you are."

Kay laughed. Of course it was near impossible for [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] to get pregnant. Or was it? Hmmm. Modern medicine was quite advanced these days.

But she didn't want to scare him with that prospect. That'd be too mean.

She linked up her arm with his. "Well if you are, then don't worry. I'll still be around to push your chair. But remember....if you misbehave, there are cliffs around here." Kay grinned and winked. He probably remembered the speederbike rides, going right over the cliff and into the canyon. Oh those were fun days.

"I'll remember that in turn if you happen to be in a wheelchair before I am... I'll just have to be careful to ensure that you beat me in the Great Wheelchair Race. Then I'll be the one pushing" He teased right back toward her as he linked his arm with hers. He did remember the speederbike rides. They were rides he would remember and would one day get her back for, that was for sure.

But then he would slowly turn to look at her, and the most serious look on his face of all time would appear, as though he had just been hit with a stunning realization of what he must do to ensure his transformation was complete.

"Also... Hi Ll still be around to push your chair... I'm Josh."

"The Great Wheelchair Race, huh? I guess that we'll always find some way to compete against eachother." Kay smirked at [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] as they made their way to the front door. He was a great friend to compete with, even against things that they weren't good at; like dancing.

His sudden change had caught her off guard. Kay blinked, raising a brow slightly as she was highly confused. Was he playing some sort of part? A game to throw her off or to make fun of her? Well...it was working. "Going senile already? Do you want me to write your name down on a tag for you?"

"No, no, it's a dad joke. I realized just now that I can't complete my transformation to dad-hood without them" Josh would respond, shaking his head and chuckling in turn. "You said "I'll still be around to push your chair" and you started it with I, like I, you, I" He explained. Did he really have to explain the dad joke? She might be older than he took her for.

"Looks like I might need to work on my dad jokeology. Though you may be winning the race to being in a wheelchair first at this rate too" Josh would crack in turn. "Won't be fun with all those stairs, I'm sure though...

Never trusted stairs, myself. They're always up to something."

Oh no.

Kay was never really around dad's that told what was typical 'dad jokes'. It wasn't as though she had ever gotten them from her own father, and although Veiere could tell a few good jokes, they were never of the 'dad jokes' kind. So the attempt that [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] was making went straight over her head.

She smirked as he mentioned her going into a wheelchair first. It caused her to poke him in the ribs. "You're so mean to me..." His next joke she did understand and it made her laugh. "Up to something...haha, I get it!" But could she come up with a zinger of a comeback?

Nope...Not this time.

"Could be worse, I suppose" He would respond. "I could be afraid of elevators... Then I would have to take steps to avoid them" He joked, continuing the dad joke zingers.

"Mean? Me? Oh come on, you're the mean one" He teased back as he would tap him lightly in the ribs with his elbow in turn. Not too hard, of course, she was pregnant. And honestly, it was more close to her shoulder than her ribs...

"You're the one who keeps saying mean things."

Kay did a facepalm as [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] continued with his horribly bad jokes. Yes they were funny, but they were so baaaaaad.

And then he poked her in the ribs, to which she faked getting hurt. "Ow! Now who's the mean one? Hurting a pregnant lady! Why I could end up going into early labour and then you'll be sorry!" Well they both would be. But that wasn't about to happen. She did well at keeping her stress levels down. If anything, Josh's visit has helped.

He grinned cheekily, no apologies for this ball of sass. Oh no, he had no shame for his dad jokes and puns. Though he would laugh when she would complain that she could go into early labor if he were to continue poking her ribs. "Yeah, I'm sure that totally hurt" He teased, sticking his tongue out at her in turn. "If you say so, your Highness."

"So I have a question" He inquired. "What... Is brown and sticky?"

After a silence, he answered.

"A stick."

More dad jokes.

Kay just had to give [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] a raspberry. There was no escaping it. And she made sure that she was close to him as well so that some spittle would reach him. If only men could go into labour. Surely there's some species that they do....

She raised a brow at the start of his joke, not entirely sure if she was going to like where it was going.

And then came the punchline.

Kay facepalmed, sliding her hand down her face. "You should write those up in a holo-book....Or quit your day job and go on tour as a comedian." On second thought, he'd probably be good at that.

That raspberry was quickly retaliated to by him leaning over and dropping a big, wet, saliva driven lick on her cheek, with a wicked grin following it. "If you're going to pull saliva games, don't challenge the master" He teased as he would wipe his face, chuckling lightly. Well, at least he didn't mind the close-range raspberry. Most might not be as quick to just throw back instead of getting mad about it.

Though her reaction to the dad joke got a laugh out of him.

"I just might do that" He would tease. "Luckily I've got someone here who's got the money to be my publisher" Came the next joke, with a cheeky grin in turn.
