High Loremaster
While handing out the various gifts of foods and furs, Nina came across an elderly Valkyri woman. Her back was terribly crooked and she needed a cane to walk around. Upon approaching her she soon learned that she was also blind, her eyes resembling a fading mist in colour. Nina felt sorry for the old woman and gently took her by the hand, with no words shared between them. She led her but a few steps over to a wooden rocking chair for her to sit down in. The woman looked straight ahead and offered her a heart-warming smile, the kind that only the elderly were capable of. When Nina was about to let go of her hand, she found that the woman's bony fingers would not release their grip. "Éar, is that you?" her trembling voice uttered. "So gentle yet so strong, and ever youthful..."
Éar was the Valkyri goddess of beauty and fertility, but also of the hunt. It seemed the old woman had mistaken Nina for the goddess herself. Either that or she was delirious from old age. "Have you come to take me home?" the woman continued, faded eyes looking up to the skies. Nina followed her gaze for a moment, then returned it to the woman. "It... It is not yet your time, my old friend. Rest now..." she calmy replied while covering her weary form with one of the furs to keep warm. "Then I shall wait... for a bit longer..." the elder spoke before her eyes closed and she fell asleep, finally releasing her grip of Nina's hand. She looked so peaceful in her sleep; the look of someone who has lived a full life with no regrets, awaiting the final step of their journey: Beornskald...
