Hunting Again
As you all know, Codex is also moving forward with no more development thread requirements! This is an exciting time for Codex as we hope this means it will open up more opportunity for members to submit their creations without having to worry about dealing with dev.
While the Codex has not undergone anywhere near the amount of change as the Factory, there are a few things to note:
Refurbished templates! We've reorganized the layout of our templates to match that of the new Factory templates in order to keep things familiar and streamlined. There have been some minor adjustments and changes in a few of the templates you know and love, with some sections being removed, redfined or replaced. Check them out:
You may also notice we now have two NEW NPC templates available for use:
Ship Crew - to help you organize your small, personal ship crew. Great for explorers, pirates, hyperlane hussies and mercs!
Group Template - for those of you that have been asking for a place to submit groups like religious cults, mafias, guilds, and families: this template is for you!
Updated rules! The Codex Standardized Rules has gone through a spring cleaning. We've removed all mention of development thread requirements and added in a few new rules that were more-or-less ghost rules - known but never clearly defined.
Most notably in the rule changes are the following:
As we usher in this new dev-free era, I implore the community to understand how this will effect your submissions and the Judgements placed upon them. Where before you may have been required to complete a development thread for a particularly ambitious species, NPC, Location, or planet we will now be placing extra emphasis on the intent behind these submissions. We will be giving extra emphasis to balance where strengths and weaknesses are concerned, as well asking for additional information and explanation on things that we feel necessitate it. This is in an effort to keep things reasonable and fair for all members that might use or interact with your creation.
As always, if you have questions, concerns, feedback or you wish to apply to become a Codex Judge - my inbox is always open and my Judges are happy to assist.
Now let's see those Codex subs!

Most notably in the rule changes are the following:
7. Restricted Materials are no longer allowed to be added as a resource/export for new custom planets except in the case of a Staff sanctioned challenge/contest reward or with explicit permission from Staff.
8. Submissions based on canon subjects such as planets, locations, species, etc., should adhere to the theme and setting of the original canon subject in question and contain a solid intent/reasoning for submitting to Codex.
9. Earth crossovers should be avoided as part of the subject matter in Codex submissions and are grounds for edits or denial. If you are unsure what constitutes as "crossover" please ask the Codex staff for clarification.
