Another Fowl mess I've gotten myself into (Skylar)

Jan VonFowl

Part-Time Party Crasher
Jan grinned and slid into the passenger seat. The doors closed behind them, and he pointed at the 'forward' gear on the shift. He also turned the key in the ignition so that Skylar could start driving.

"Just hit that button, and hit the gas pedal. You sort of know how to steer, right?"

At least, if she hit a wall, there wasn't much duracrete could do to the armor on the speeder.

"I guess so, couldn't hurt to try."

Skylar got in the speeder and followed Jan's instructions carefully, only slightly pushing down on the gas pedal, making the speeder creep forward slowly.

Jan grinned at the girl, watching her drive the speeder so carefully. He nodded towards the alleyway next to Skylar's building, lying back in the seat a little bit.

"Go ahead and pull in there, Skylar. You're doing a good job."

Skylar pulled in as she was directed, but still very slowly, looking over slightly at Jan only once before continuing.

"I'm still a little paranoid that I'm gonna damage it."

Jan patted Skylar on the shoulder as she drove, grinning at her.

"Like I said, I'm not worried about it. The armor on this car is amazing."

After she had pulled into the alleyway with minor scratches to the car, Sky looked at [member="Jan VonFowl"] with a small smile.

"So how do you turn it off?" Sky looked down at the panel in front of her and bit her lip.

Jan smiled back at Skylar and took her hand to put it on the shift.

"Just pull the lever until you see it hit 'park'."

He realized what he'd just done a second later, and just tried to relax about it. Not like she was going to stab him again, right? She was smiling at him... And she looked cute when she was biting her lip. That was probably besides the point, though.

Sky let Jan put her hand on the shift stick and guide it to park. Then she realized what he did and blushed.

Crap what am I thinking?! I just stabbed this guy this morning and now I'm crushing and he's teaching me how to drive?! What happened to, "Holy fudge I stabbed this man I should run like hell" or "Holy fudge this girl stabbed me I should put a bounty on her or something"?!

Skyler felt like whacking her shuck head on the steering wheel to pull herself back together. Instead the rebelling part of her mind asked [member="Jan VonFowl"] a question.

"What next, Jan?"

Jan ran his other hand through his hair as he looked at Skylar. Did she mean what was next for them, or what was next for the car, or... Hell, what did she mean? He still kept holding her hand, and smiled a bit nervously.

"You wanna help me fix her? I mean... If you don't mind me being around for a few days..."

Sky smiled awkwardly. As if agreeing without meaning it, she kept speaking.

"I could get you materials, but I'm hopeless at fixing metal things, just injuries. Speaking of which, we should probably look at your wound. The curtains in my home aren't exactly that sanitary. I don't mind you being here. You can wait here until the heat dies down." She made no further comment other than hopping out of the speeder and handing [member="Jan VonFowl"] his keys. She led him back inside and up the stairs to her room. Once they were back in the safety of the building, Sky turned to Jan gesturing towards the once nice stool.

"Could I look at your wound again?"

Jan smiled a bit less nervously, and got out of the car when Skylar handed his keys back.

"Well, it never hurts to learn, right? I mean... I could start teaching you after you- Ow."

His leg was burning as he tried to roll up the leg of his pants. He frustratedly took them off and tossed them in the spot where his jacket was. The curtain that Skylar had made into a bandage was now covered in blood, and he winced as he peeled it off. Pain drove any thought of being embarrassed at being in a shirt and boxers out of his mind.

"Okay, chit. Can you check if there's any medseals in my jacket?"

Skylar's mouth gaped open at the sight of his wounds condition, but clamped it shut at his orders to find the medseals, and rummaged through the jacket's pockets until she found one, ripping it open and applying it immediately on the wound once that was done she stood and held out her hand.

"Let's get you back into the bed."

Jan smiled as he put his arm around Skylar's shoulder and leaned on her a little bit.

"Well, I'll sit down, at least. I'm not sleepy."

Besides, he wanted to talk to her. There was a cute girl who seemed to like him, and he was sitting in her house. That was kind of awesome.

Sky smiled and helped Jan into the bedroom and onto the bed. She sat crisscrossed on the desk in the corner once Jan got himself in a comfortable enough position and began fingering through her hair, the silence was only broken by the few speeders that would ride by every once in a while.

"I'll be right back."

Before Jan could ask any questions, Skylar left the room for a bit. Her once white hair was now a filthy soot black from all the pollution and dust in the air and bloodstained from both Jan's present and her own past wounds. She tried to comb it with an old brush before going back into the room, a few strands of white hair still left in the mess of her hair. She came back in with a few ration bars and some more water. She looked at the figure in the bed and smiled timidly.

"You hungry?"

Jan smiled back at Sky again when she came into the room with something that looked like a pile of ration bars. He sighed with a little bit of relief.

"My stomach would probably come out and hug you for that if I didn't intend to keep it in its place."

With a little less dignity than he would've liked, he grabbed one of the bars, barely opening the wrapper before wolfing it down. Then he smiled nervously at her, hoping he hadn't made himself look like an idiot.

"Umm... Sorry."

Sky set the plate down and laughed, like she hadn't done in a long time, a long musical tone. The darkness outside was lit up by the ever-glowing lights of the city making enough light for the two young ones to see each other.

"It's fine, I understand you well enough." There had been a time when Sky had to scavenge for food to survive, and when it was given, it was a blessing. As if on cue with the dotted horizon, Sky stifled a yawn and rubbed her eyes. Since she had given up her bed for Jan's sake, she would sleep on the floor, but she detained her sleepiness for just a little bit longer

"So what were you doing on Nar Shaddaa anyways?"

"Me? I'm a thrill-rider. The Fowl-mobile's my baby, in a way. Only part of getting her together I didn't do was the actual construction part. And, well, I enjoy flying through cities. Coruscant, Corellia, Axxila, anywhere with a few risky turns to drive around."

Jan smiled brightly at the thought of all the flights he'd done, before.

"Honestly, there's weapons on her to keep stuff like today's damage from happening, but we can both see how well that worked..."

Skylar laid down on the floor, listening eagerly and chuckled at his remark.

"Not too," A yawn came upon her suddenly and she barely stifled it before finishing. "Nicely."

Sky leaned against the bed and yawned again, but instead of stifling it, she let it go and stretched with it. She was unusually tired, and without thinking, she went over to the other side of the bed and climbed in, curling up under the covers and yawning once more. She forgot to take into the account of the gentleman beside her.

"Not very- what?"

Jan's jaw literally dropped when Skylar just curled up next to him in the bed. At least she wasn't using him as a pillow or anything, right? That would've made this situation kind of awkward. He decided to let her steal the rest of the blanket, and telekinetically brought his jacket into his hand to put over himself as a blanket.

He finally just smiled, and reached a hand out to ruffle her hair a little bit.

"Night, Skylar."

The next few days would fly by as Jan fixed up his speeder and continued healing while Skylar did less than her everyday stealing and hung around, learning about him. When the nights came they talked for a while before one of them eventually fell asleep. When the speeder was finished, Skylar knew that Jan would probably leave. She felt closer to him than anyone in her lifetime. The last day, as [member="Jan VonFowl"] was finishing up on the last bits and pieces of his speeder. She walked over and sat down by him, not saying anything, but just watching.
