Artwork vs Actors

Not everyone has your sources. :p

I've seen you use some unique and stunning artwork.

Actors for me. Simply because I have the ability to be able to change the look when I want. And being a typical girl, I like to change the look from time to time. Artwork is beautiful but limiting for me, at least.

I also operate off visual stimulus which is why I use a lot of imagery in my writing (to the best of my ability) and add in images to set the scene in my opening posts. If I can't relate to the characters I am RPing with, I struggle. But that is my downfall, not others.

I like both, but I tend to gravitate more towards RL face claims. I used to stay away from actors and models that I felt were too mainstream/well known because I didn't want there to be any relation/familiarity to the person representing my character. I wanted the face to be my characters face and non-associable. Now, I don't really care as much. As long as the face fits the character, or the claim has the look I need/want, then it's all good. If I want to change something then I just go in and manipulate the picture until I'm satisfied.

Actors and actresses are easier. You have more source material and often a much greater range to choose from as your character develops and you feel the need for change. Unfortunately this leads to the trap of not writing your own character, but that of your avatar's source material.

Artwork tends to look better and have a greater impact, but unless you're using artwork of an established character from another source it can sometimes be nigh impossible to find something to replicate it when you fancy a change, especially if you're a stickler for details that hates the thought of your own character's facial structure morphing with each avatar change.

I frankly use both.

They both have pros, both have cons. Do what you want and enjoy yourself.

I've never been a fan of RL face claims, but Lysle was a rare one I did enjoy. Only God Forgives has a cult following and there are dozens of art pieces of Ryan Gosling in his role in the movie, so I had plenty of reference pictures for him, both art and real.

Perfection in human form.
I'm not a weeaboo, I'm not a Prequel-Trilogy Lover, neither am I a Photoshop Pro, but let me tell you one thing, IRL Face Claims combined with art people have made on Deviantart, is what I prefer.
