ATC DATA LOG FILE | Corellia

[member="Jared Ovmar"]

Saffron bit her lip. Thankfully, the turbulence had managed to level out. They were in the eye of the storm so to speak. Everything was VFR, Visual flying restrictions. The pilots were not to depend on their instruments but visual cues. Of course, ATC Research and development were constantly monitoring and trying to explore new technology to make it easier to traverse through the Sahsahlah Floating Mountains; Technology that would find itself on these shuttles soon enough.

"How did you manage that," she queried, hazel eyes staring quizzingly at the man.

"Are you an empath?" Saffron would ask, as that was the only reference she had of such a thing. Or much like Zeltrons's affinity to calm down rattled nerves.

[member="Saffron"]

Ovmar snorted, not unkindly.

"Empath, me?" It was a bit of a misdirection, in truth. According to Spencer there had been a lot of potential in him when it came to empathy, empathy in the sense of becoming attuned to the feelings of others and influencing said feelings. It was Force-based, somewhat, but not completely along the paths of mentalism.

He had blocked out that part of his brain a long time ago. Because that was the inherent drawback with empaths, if you were strong in it, like Spencer was or like he could have been... it influences you and your actions.

A man like him? Someone who constantly moved about people of wroth and death? It wouldn't have been a pretty thing. This way he was in control.

"No, no, that path isn't for me. Mentalism... at the lowest of low it is as simple as These are not the droids you are looking for." Ovmar gestured with a theatrical wave of the hand, to underline the silliness of it. "But at the highest? Reading minds or..."

He looked at her pointedly, the usually cold blues turning just a bit soft.

"Soothing anxiety of a friend. Lots of possibilities."

[member="Jared Ovmar"]

So he wasn't an empath.

The curiosity emanating from Saffron was near palpable. The only difference being is that hers was a genuine interest; no secret agenda or anything of the sort.

"So that is what mentalism can do?" she mulled aloud, a slight crease over her brow as the Companion let that linger.

"Fascinating." she added, only to have her smile warm.

"I appreciate it." came her gratitude again, squeezing his hand.

"We will be there soon." she informed him, the hazel eyes drifting from blue towards the viewport beside them.

"Look..."

The thick rolls of clouds seemed to permeate beyond the glasteel. For a moment, one would wonder what Saffron was even making reference to. At least, until the bulbous clouds began to clear, and suddenly, a large mass revealed itself. Almost ethereal, the Sahsahlah floating mountains seemed to glow under the rays of Corel, large looming pillars thick with mist as if from another 'verse all together.

[member="Saffron"]

"Hmmm." Ovmar mumbled out, while looking at the clouds and then finally at the mountains themselves once they came into view. It was an extraordinary view. The sheer magnitude of those mountains and the amount of them scattered throughout the huge area told him all that he needed to know about the Isotope-5 deposits. They would be bountiful - a portion, the rare old portion of him, scratched against his resolve. It was hungry for what this had to offer in terms of opportunities.

"This is what I call a date."

He turned his attention back to her. "You really know how to show a guy a good time."

His smirk grew deeper.

The worry was gone, though. If the Corellians considered the mountains holy? Then there would be no mining, at all, they were quite serious about such matters.

The corner of her mouth drew up. He amused her, his playfulness catching. Leaning over and forward, Saffron would point out through the window.

"Our Eden Project is working along side the terraformin' team," she informed him. Her forefinger drew up, and just beyond the mist, one would be able to see a small white area off in a distant pillar.

"That's our base of operations." she told him. While it may look small, it was clear that the closer they came, the larger the biodome did as well.

"All green energy. Solar and wind... we even use Salacia Consolidated's technology,' she told him, speaking of [member="Judah Dashiell"]'s company. He too, had been a pioneer in the sustainable energy, and Danger was always willing to make use of the quality Salacia made.

[member="Saffron"]

"Mmhm, I heard Arceneau Trade and subsidiaries are going all in for renewable energy and the like." Ovmar mentioned briefly, while studying the dome in the distance.

"Very smart, I'd say, efficient usage of the resources at hand."

An appreciative nod followed.

There were many corporations in the Galaxy who simply used and used and used, salvaging and stripping what they could from the land, before moving onward towards other worlds. They cared little about the future, because the future for them was an abstract definition. Something that wouldn't touch them, because it would be many a thousands if not more years before it would have any real impact on the galactic civilization at large.

That's what every corporate executive thought -- present company excluded, of course.

"I am still pondering about if we should establish some subcontracts for the orbital network -- get more people involved in the Corellian Sector, piecemeal, small things first and see if we can get trade going again. "Thoughts? Candidates?"

[member="Jared Ovmar"]

"We are. We are working closely with [member="Judah Dashiell"] of Salacia Consolidated," Saffron informed the former Lord of the Fringe quietly. Salacia Consolidated was one of the pioneers of the Green Power movement. Along with Arceneau Trade, they frequently cooperated in projects to expand on the venture.

Hazel eyes locked upon Jared's own. "Candidates..." she mulled over his question, watching their approach to the large biodome in the distance.

"I would advise Corellia Digital," Saffron admitted, speaking of the company led by [member="Sor-Jan Xantha"].

"They do excellent work. Not to mention, you'd have support from Corellian based companies." It would be best to gather business and companies who were headquartered in the Corellian Sector, to begin with. If anything, Arceneau Trade had ways to connect and network to bring together these ties.

"There are others," she told him, " I could gather up a list and send it to you."

[member="Saffron"]

"That would be splendid, my dear." It was about another five minutes, until they finally approached docking-range with the biodome in the distance. Automatic protocols took over, then, with admission codes transferred for security -- with the One Sith looming all over them the entire time Arceneau Trade, Iron Crown and the other corporations were quite dutiful in their need for security. Few had forgotten the slaughter over Copero, when Titan dared to try and break away from the nation.

Perhaps a reminder for them all to be ever vigilant and careful in how to disengage from self-destructive nations.

This was one of the reasons why Iron Crown Enterprises continued to cultivate a neutralish but still friendly relationship with the Sith governments.

The last thing the corporation wanted was to have the deaths of thousands if not more of their employees on their hands. Better to wait, to bide the time and pick up the pieces once the nation shattered on its own, at least as far as ICE was concerned. But looking at ATC's involvement in the Corellian Sector... Danger seemed to have the same philosophy.

"Why don't you lead, love? You can show me around the place."

Saffron shone the former Lord of the Fringe a soft smile.

“Well, here I was going to ask if you would be my escort for the afternoon.” a soft musical chuckle followed that. Rising to her feet, her flowing skirt have a soft whisper against her legs.

“I would be happy to be your guide,” she replied, smiling up as the man offered her his arm. He could be such a gentleman, and the appreciation for the sentiments would be repaid in a soft rub of her hand against his forearm.

“We have almost twenty hectares of space dedicated to the facility.” the woman would explain, both commencing their slow walk out of the shuttle. There was a small airlock that would attach them to the biodome. Originally, every biodome has a small defense shield akin to that of a plantary one. It was for defensive purposes as well as early on in the process when the atmosphere had been Type II. Now with the terraforming process underway, the air quailty was slowly turning to Type I. The Black Gold beaches were one of the few locations where Type was increasing, helped along by the vast filtration platforms what would cycle out the pollutants and debris from the air and send it back. A combination of terraforming techniques and climate control also assisted with it.

They came to the exit, and the hatch slid open to allow them down the corridor. The lines were clean, decoration simple but efficient. Much of the design for these biodomes were created with a simplistic floorplan, utilizing green energy to provide the power.

“A large part of this is used for research and development on the Sahsahlah mountains and the Black Gold Beaches themselves.”

They wandered for a brief while and Ovmar listened intently.

Truly listened, which was a rare thing indeed. Most of the times Jared would have simply lounged and let his background processes take care of anything anyone was saying -- but this was [member="Saffron"] and that made it different. There had been many women in his life, Sith, Jedi, Fringers and non-sensitives, many and much, but only a few were of note to him.

Anaya... Jacobs and Andra... Matsu.

Some were romantic, purely animistic or simply emotional.

"You seem to have avoided most of the mistakes we made on Dromund Kaas." Ovmar finally mentioned, as they left the corridors and entered the cantina. It was mostly empty at this time an hour, a few stragglers still picking up some dinner left-overs and the kitchen personnel clearing out the remnants of today's work.

He pulled out a chair for her, and only then settled down himself across from her.

"Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised." A twinkle in the eyes. Jared was only proud at the progress displayed.

Sliding into her seat, Saffron gave Jared a soft smile. A waitress came over, introducing herself and handing them both a menu. The Sahsahlah Biodome was not meant to be terribly fancy as much as practical. It did, however, maintain a few restaurants for the residents. As time would pass, so too would the expansion of the biodome itself.

"We do our best," she replied, "Mara Tibx is actually in the process of opening a full-fledged teraforming division. So much has been done here on Corellia, that we are looking to expand and continue with the skill and lessons learned for Corellia." opening the new division wouldn't be so troublesome. For the most part, Mara TibX was already a name in geological surveys as well as fuels. Expanding into full blown planetary reconstruction and teraforming was an easy phase.

Glasses of water were poured for them both.

"What else do you have planned for the Citadel?" she spoke of the one that would be constructed on the southern side of Corellia.

[member="Saffron"]

"Well, you know part of it." Ovmar responded conversationally, while looking over the menu card. There wasn't much on offer, but that was to be expected, considering this wasn't a special restaurant or anything. Just a place for the scientists and workers to get something to chow when they had their downtime.

"Parts of the citadel is purposed for the terraform project -- as I said before, Dromund Kaas taught us valuable lessons. We got a Yuuzhan Vong caste of shapers working on it--" He looked up from his card and gave a smile, realizing she might not have known that, before he just disclosed that.

"Darell, the big heart he is, saved 'em on Rodia back when the Techno Union went on their extermination trip. They have been quite helpful with nudging a world over the initial turning-point, and sticking it there."

"Other than that... shipyards, obviously. Iron Crown got a ton of 'em; we got Annaj, Lwhekk, Serpena, Rakata Beta, then the ones we acquired across One Sith space... Copero and Bilbringi, among others. But this, this will will be our crowning achievement. The last dotting of the i to finish our supply and demand network across the Galaxy."

It was then that he noticed the waitress standing next to their table, waiting quite patiently. Ovmar coughed awkwardly, before laughing a bit.

"Sorry, excited, you know how I can get. Please, you can order."

[member="Jared Ovmar"]

A small plate of fresh bread was set in front of them. Nothing too fancy, but it would make Saffron smile.

"The grain is grown here at the biodome," she would explain after he finished detailing about the citadel.

"And you do not need to apologize." she would assure him. At the suggestion she place an orde for them both, Saffron a small nod of acquiescing.

"Would you care for anything in particular?" she inquired.

[member="Saffron"]

A shake of the head followed as his concerns were waved away.

"Not particularly no." Ovmar began, before interrupting himself. In fact... he was positively parched if he really stopped to think about it and if they were already here anyway... well, it would be impolite to not take advantage of the situation, wouldn't it? A moment of ponder later Ovmar resumed with an order.

They obviously didn't have exactly what he wanted, but after some back-and-forth, they settled on things of substance.

"As I was saying," The Lord began again, while breaking the bread for the two of them and while they waited on the food to arrive. "Shipyards-- in truth, with the 'yards we acquired through the One Sith... we probably have enough production capacity to supply the entire Galaxy, but the simple truth is that at this scale logistics come into play."

"You can't very well produce ships at Dac and then expect to be able to sell 'em at a good price at Bakura, no?"

He wove his hand, waving the issue away.

"Other than terraforming and the shipyards, we are looking at permanent habitation for the Corellian people. Yes, we are working on clearing up their worlds, but that will take many years... at least this way they can stay close to where they work for the betterment of their people in relative comfort, yes?"

[member="Jared Ovmar"]

"This is true," Saffron would agree with a nod. Indeed, Arceneau Trade had spent the better part of the last few years doing the best that they could for reconstruction. While Corellia was in the midst of terarforming, the twins had now become the centre of commerce for the Corellian Sector.

"We are working hand in hand with the locals," she would add, "Thankfully things have been working out well. The promotion of local companies in aiding the reconstruction has helped out in smoothing things over. Corellians have a lot of pride in building, in craftsmenship." the blonde would explain.

"Which is why several are working in conjunction with Mara Tibx to produce air filtration stations and to help expand our teraforming capabilities."

[member="Saffron"]

"Ain't the only thing they proud of," Ovmar remarked with a grin and the feint shake of the head. If there was one thing the Corellians were known for it was their desire to do things their way; the ancient history told them of the time that the Corellians tried to rebel against the Alliance of those times.

A nod followed while listening - seemed like Arceneau Trade was truly going places. The business was expanding even more than back in the day, multiple new organizations under the same umbrella, Danger had her ducks in a row... that was for sure.

"We are preparing ourselves for an influx of refugees from the other Sith territories, though." Eyes went distant again as he thought. "I have picked up some rumblings, apparently the remaining leadership is fractured- some want to start burning everything, others want to just disappear and pick up where they left off later..."

He scratched his chin while pondering the ramifications.

"Point is, the Corellian sector is more secure than others right now. You, me, Irani and all the others, we keep this powder-case stable and away from exploding. Sith got more important things on their mind than pissing off any of us."

A grin appeared, this one darker and less filled with humor.

"We got long memories."

[member="Jared Ovmar"]

"That we do," the blonde would agree, gracing him with a soft smile. "The Eve Foundation is helping us with refugees." she admitted. It was one of the major humanitarian associations created by Alric Kuhn and Danger Arceneau. Headed by Amorella, it was quickly spreading across the 'verse to help those in need through a variety of ways.

"I'll do what I can of course," she added, "but my main concentration is here in the Corellian Sector." Aeri and Alisha'ven were both dispersed to other sectors.

"And continue on with my studies as I can." she said, in regards to her dabblings with the Force and gaining mental resistances along with reading people.

[member="Saffron"]

"Ah, yes. How is that going anyway?" Ovmar asked with something of curiosity. He had always been interested in how others approached their training, he had his own theories on the Force and to hear them speak of their own experiences?

It narrowed down certain facts and possibilities by a wide margin.

There was still the case of the One Sith threat, though. They were enjoying themselves here now, but Jared wondered if the Sith might not try something regardless of the big names supporting the Corellia Sector.

You didn't want to mess with the Queen of Trade, Arceneau, or the Giant of Industry, Irani- yet.... yet there was still a part of him that doubted. It would be all too easy for them to simply stream in, slag everything and then disappear.

No consequences, no nothing. There had to be a way to safeguard it all, while they awaited their final demise.

[member="Jared Ovmar"]

Saffron gave a faint smile. It was a process. Self-taught actually and just from what she could glean from her studies that were available. The majority came from the excerpts from the Moross Goddess Inari, one likened to the Goddess of healing. The Guildhouse maintained itself almost like a religious order in that.

"It takes practice. Well as it can be I suppose," she said honestly, fingers curling to take another sip of water.

"I have only what gifts I have been given, and they are few." which was perfectly fine for the young clone. If all she could do was glean information from the Sabaac cards and utilize her mind to glean information and keep said information safe, she would be perfectly alright with that.

[member="Saffron"]

"It sounds to me, like you could use the... hands of an expert." Ovmar noted, wicked glint in the eye. Yet, how much did that really mean these days? There was always that glint of mischief, every word said could be interpreted as a double entendre- it were the acts of a man completely and utterly confident in and with himself.

"I am sure I could teach you a few things."

He sipped from his own glass, eyes studying away.

"Give you something to experience perhaps."

Grin expanded from behind the glass, before he sat it down again. There was just something about Saffron that few others had ever truly made him experience... it was this level of innocence perhaps, an amusing thought considering what her previous and main occupation had been, but there it was.

His mind went to the other women in his life; lots of pain there, lots of anger, yet... also a lot of pleasure.

Funny how those things usually went hand in hand.
