Attack of the Killer Spark Bees!

[member="Abel"]

"Here let me look." Kaile took a step closer, bending her head. The Lorrdian, being how she was, didn't quite have the whole 'bubbles of personal space' down pat. Overly friendly and earnest in her concern, some might wonder about her forward nature, but it was all genuine. With a heart of gold, Kaile was oft the one to go out of her way for others, if not simply to help.

Her hand came up, and her fingers went lightly dribbling over his neck. It was already starting to mottle and bruise. At the mention that it is a reminder of a mistake he might have made, Kaile's chocolate brown eyes shot up. There was a slight chide in them as she told him, "You do not need reminders of anything Abel. You did nothing wrong, and even if you had been at fault, it wasn't on purpose."

She went searching through her med-kit for some bacta lotion. "Here let me put some of this on you. It should help the bruising. Does it hurt to talk?"

Closer. Uh oh. That didn't help none with the blushing. Abel could feel the red all the way up to his ears, flush with heat. Too concerned about his neck. Yeah, his throat did feel pretty sore, now that she mentioned it. Maybe if the nice woman was not so concerned with his near-throttled neck she might have noticed the way his eyes kept glancing down at her, uncomfortable like.

They hadn't covered this one in the Jedi Order handbook, or any other book Abel had read for that matter. Sure, he had read great sagas full of romance, but they weren't exactly how-to guides. Things just sort of happened for those bold knights.

Light fingertips brushed across aching skin. Ow.

Brows rose as she bent over to pick up some lotion. "Oh, I uh... no not really."

Abel tried not to stare. Great warriors didn't stare... did they? "I suppose I wasn't wrong, but one can't never do with enough humility in life, that's what the good books say."

The bottle gave a light squirting sound. A blue pool of the sickly sweet smelling bacta lotion poured into the shell of Kaile's hand then. "Just need to put some of this on you." she told him, inching close again. This was no great romance scene. Kaile had soot smeared across her face, smelled like burnt plastoid and wasn't at her best at all. Carefully she rubbed her hands together to spread the lotion, warming it up.

"Reckon humility is great," Kaile would agree, "But there is no sense in tearing yourself down when you don't need to. Times like these folk should build themselves up. We live. We learn. We do better." a pause, "Can you lift up your chin a bit?" she wanted to make sure she got it all without hurting him too much.

"I just need to spread it out a bit. I'll try to be gentle, I promise."

Not an arduous scene indeed. The brown-headed padawan's cherubic face still bore dried stains where rivulets of salty tears had run from him like a leaky dam. Being humble and all did one good in life, so far as Abel knew, but sittin' down and crying in the middle of a crisis did not. Abel still felt pretty embarrassed about the whole scene.

Even so, she made a lot of sense about not being too harsh on himself. Failure was how someone learned. He just wished that failing didn't involve other people getting hurt. A silly notion had lodged inside his head that if it only caused him pain, then it was ok. So long as no one else had to get injured. So long as it was just him.

Feeling as helpless as the young Trandoshan did not help, but he did as bidden and lifted his chin. The warm gelatinous substance smoothed across his throat under her gentle ministrations. The touch elicited a thrum in his heart. Not really welcome, then again he could not really stop it, could he? Just a matter of biology.

He painfully cleared his throat and solemnly pronounced, "Uhm."

"Almost done." Kaile told him, her brows scrunched up in concentration. "Sorry, I know the stuff smells like you're being stuffed into a candy bin." a bit too sweet. To rich. But that was just how bacta was. Kaile gave one last brush of her fingers, smoothing it over Abel's neck, making sure she got every mottled bruise already forming up.

"It's gonna hurt for a while," she told him, a bit informative "Gonna have to make sure you don't strain yourself. It looks worse than it is, but hopefully with the bacta, it will help speed it some." one last check up and she gave a nod.

"Alright, that should do." Kaile told him, pulling back her hands to straighten to her full height. A sunny smile would beam out at the Jedi Padawan, friendly and with a wealth of well meaning behind it.

"You can have it." she handed him the small bottle of lotion. "Use it at least once a day."

Abel wrinkled his nose. Yeah, it sure smelled alright. The sickly-sweet stench came from the necrophagic bacterium inside the bacta, probably. Same reason a dead body smelled similar, or at least that's what the books said. Abel had never seen a dead body. Not up close. Not long enough to smell it.

Not yet anyway.

Any warm fuzzy sensations he'd had at her touch suddenly evaporated beneath the weight of those thoughts.

He shivered slightly and accepted the bacta container. Hopefully he wouldn't need to use it again, but he knew that wasn't true. When lightsabers were swinging every which way and blaster bolts choked the air, Abel didn't doubt he'd get hit again. Just the thought made his throat ache even worse.

"Uhm, yeah, thanks."

A pudgy hand scratched at brown hair again. "Well, I guess I should go make my report to the Agricorps. I'll see you around, Kaile?"

Kaile’s eyes would draw wide. Oh, was he leaving already? Well, considering what was going on with the Spark Bees that made sense. None the less, she was happy she got to meet him.

“Okay Abel,” Kaile told him, and with a sunny smile, she extended her hand in a wave of her fingers. “I’m just gonna go check on everyone else. See if they need anything.”

One leg swung back, then the other, walking backwards as she was prone to do.

“See you later Abel. Stay safe!”
