Battle of Midway OOC (Invasion of Helska)

[member="The Shadow King"] Pretty much yes. Any attempt to engage hyperdrive while within the gravitic influence of a planet will send you directly into the object the gravity comes from, or distort your jump so much you collide in the center of the largest source of gravity...

That's not even to mention the gravitic forces I am currently applying to your ship that should probably similarly prevent you from trying to engage your hyperdrive for the reasons listed above, as your ship will just fall into the closest, and strongest source of gravity (in case you are wondering, yes, this should interdict your vessel from leaving the battlefield until my vessel is rendered disabled, or is not actively acknowledging your ship with gravity beams).

Also, what needs to be elaborated on? Whatcha doin that I don't seem to understand?

Never mind, I understand, your using the grav pull from the planet, and the Dovan's pull to get me where I am..well..at least from doing quick get aways

Edited: I thought you meant I was trying to go THROUGH the planet with my jump XD

[member="The Shadow King"] Correct I believe, due to your proximity to the planet, and my use of Dovin Basals, your ships are restricted to sub-light travel. Also due to the Primeval's proximity to the planet, we are likewise restricted to sub-light travel.

Now I had a question that I don't think got answered: If you're diverting power from your guns to your shields on the ships affected by the Dovin Basals, how are you firing so many guns at me?

The way the post sounds, it seems like you're doubling up on your half of the fleets shield strength, and still firing with every vessel at me.

[member="Zambrano the Hutt"]

Oh there just not as powerful as they would be full blast...like setting a lightsaber to training (Concept)

So like they wouldnt hurt you as much as they would if they were on full blast, and this was to like...uh..dur...brain fart...

[member="The Shadow King"] Oh okay, that's reasonable! I was just making sure you weren't barraging me with full on blasts of UNLIMITED FUREH! whilst upgrading your shields power systems with no discernable loss to power :p

Thank you for the elaboration and your appreciated full cooperation! Though if you haven't already, I would suggest removing mention of that micro-jump in your post after what we talked about, lol ;)

[member="Zambrano the Hutt"]- I appreciate your honesty in your lack of knowledge and in your excitement to take part. Have fun amigo

[member="Solan Charr"] [member="The Shadow King"] as I did mention in my post that my Dreadnaught is stationed higher in the line-up I would have line of sight on my targets and I also mentioned that I was targeting the Shadow Kings part of the fleet not Solan's. I also have the Long Range weaponry to target you from further off.

So..I cant micro jump...next to a planet???

The use of hyperspace speed near a planet or moon would cause the ship to tear itself apart, completely stall, explode into the fury of a thousand suns as the hyperspace drive erupted, or some combination of the three. There is a reason why Han berates Luke on the Millennium Falcon about his ignorance of hyperspace travel - the use of it near a gravity well causes it to be pulled out of hyperspace while still moving at full speed, resulting in the untimely destruction of ships galaxy-wide. It is also the reason for hyperspace lanes, routes, etc.

To put it simply - Gravity is bad for hyperspace travel, especially trying to slingshot around a planet at near-orbital ranges.

I can say that I like this invasion more than other ones that I have been on because its not quite so fast, that I can't read it all, but not slow enough where it is boring. It's just right.

Good job to either side.

and may the Primeval win! ;)

[member="Romeo Sin"] Not trying to bother you again, but I need to make sure I am completely understanding what you are doing:

  1. So, other than the fact that every Dynasty ship has began firing at The Thorn (my ship), no change to the dimensions of your shields has been done? If so, I expect that some of your ships will lose their shields despite the distractions you attempted, as you used no canonical method of combating Dovin Basals' draining technique that I know of (I rely solely upon Wookiepedia for my information in regards to Dovin Basals), and on a purely canonical basis, your shields will be stripped regardless of their increased output in energy. If you can't make a guess as to what that true method (developed by the Galactic Alliance in canon) is supposed to be, I'll let you know so long as you agree not to utilize it in your next post, where I hope shield failure to take place on some of your vessels.
  2. Additionally, you have the Krayt going underneath the two fleets to fire at me (presumably beneath whatever shield I've been generating)? If so, nice move! Good utilization of the third dimension.
[member="Bant Mezaras"] Will you be posting new orders soon? Or should I just go the course we have so far. I'm receiving heavy fire, and logically I won't be able to sustain it long without some kind of direct support.
