There is a part of me that is hoping they don't touch Gallipoli with this, another part really wants it.

inb4 the game only features USA v. Germany.

This is being published by an American company, after all. Though, DICE is Swedish, so maybe France, British Empire, Italy (Alps confirmed), the sick man of Europe, and not-quite-Germany will actually be featured. The Middle Eastern front is confirmed (natch from the trailer), but no word on if it's just Arabia or the whole thing.

I'm gonna get my Lawrence of Arabia on.

But seriously how sick would it be to play as a WW1 soldier with a trench knife in one hand and a colt in the other just clearing trenches like a madman. I'm sold

When I see the title, it just makes me start to assume thing like COD 1, Lego Batman 1, Ratchet and Clank 1, Fallout 1, and many others would for some reason start using 1 in their series.

I am very pleased, being a fan of this franchise since Battlefield 1942, to be seeing this game go the opposite direction of the recent Call of Duty's in terms of technologically advanced/futuristic warfare. While it would have made no sense what with Battlefront now being the counter piece like Black Op's is to CoD, I was beginning to worry about the rumors around the next title.

I pray they don't screw this up, the aerial combat looks like it's going to be a blast, and going back to semi-automatic rifles with low capacity clips might just make the ground work that much more intense.

I'm impressed by what I've seen so far, this will be a title I pre-order for the PS4.

Edit: I'm just going to drop this in here as well xD

R.I.P CoD

Everyone is complaining about historical accuracy (and rightly so) but no one is mentioning the huge elephant in the room: the guy being advertised on the front cover.

First they wuz kangz, now they wuz austria-hungry n sheeeiiit.

Interesting new game direction, really I thought most Triple A games wouldn't even touch WW2 let alone WW1. So this is indeed a breath of fresh air in this quite stale FPS world of Battlefield and CoD. (OverWatch of course is another wonderful game but it interacts differently than CoD, BF, or Halo even in my opinion)

Dice has been good with games and have a good track record, so I'm not too inclined to worry about "Historical Accuracy" as everytime we play VideoGames we often have to Suspend our Sense of Belief anyways. So essentially as long as Germany/Austria looses they can't really mess up the History that much.

Weapons! Combat! Vehicles!

We've seen plenty of games that have great mechanics with weapons and battle tactics with Trench Warefare (Verdun anyone?) and Vehicle usage in Battlefield has always been fun (Jets, Tanks oh my!) The only thing now is though is to implement Mounted Horse combat (I doubt this will be a major part of the Multiplayer) so I have no reservations for Mounted Combat as their success in WW1 was few and far in between.

The Armour Badass with the Machinegun and the Frightening Tattooed Woman riding her horse and the Tank rolling through trenches with Bi/Tri planes flying around the Battle field only excite me with all potential

I did wonder about the use of fully automatic assault rifles (or arguably that was an SMG), though I suppose if they could throw those kinda guns on a plane then why not. I don't know if we should expect the technology to be completely historically correct, as much as I'd like that to be the case, I think they'll be having a hard time catering to all the old CoD fanboys and run 'n' gunner's out there with this new and hopefully slower paced FPS.

Thus far I've bought and owned every battlefield release with the exception of 21-something-a-rather (Future setting). This game I will be pre-ordering and my daughter may have to compete with it for my love and affection.
