Beskar and Phrik and stuff - Production Amounts

Sure, I get that. I'm worried about the the rules lawyering assholes that will pitch a hissy fit when we tell them that their dev isn't enough for what they want to do.

What about on things like Corvettes, frigates and such. DO we allow phrik and Besker on capital ships? you are talking about ALOT of it if so.

yeah like ALOT of mining. a frigate would pretty much be enough Besker or phrik to make tens of thousands of armor suits and hundreds of fighters

Another issue I see with beskar is mass. A beskar armored ship would be terrible at maneuvering because of the mass of it all. Thrusters would have to work alot harder to counter its inertia and turn the thing.

Thin Plating is the only way to use any of the Restricted mats on a cap ship. Like 5mm plating ontop of real armor.

Secondly, I'd say leave the mining requirements the same as anything else (10 unique, 20 limited, 30 minor), and then just have them Dev the crap out of the ship. If they wanna go bigger with the mining that's them.

This would have to be more towards standardization in ships for materials than the basic restricted / banned item.

What we want to do here is basically state, no mass production of these restricted materials.

To be able to use a Restricted Item in your Factory Submission, a writer must first complete the objective attached to the restricted item in a convincing manner that adds to the quality of the role-play thread. Standard development may grant up to limited production, with a maximum of minor production following additional development. Below in alphabetical order are the items and their associated objectives.

Pretty much

A heavy turbolaser would incenerate 5mm beskar. Your talking about heat closer to the sun than anything else. Its just too powerful for 5mm of anything [member="Darth Vulkan"]

For reference plate armour worn by an individual is typically 1-4mm thick

Modern body armour sometimes has individual ceramic plates up to an inch thick to cover very specific areas afaik

As I said when this first made the rounds, I totally agree. No mass-produced restricted mats, that's just silly.

[member="Reshmar"], as far as I know, beskar body armor worn by mandos was canonically able to withstand turbolasers (or something along those lines).
While I personally think that's a bit ridiculous, the canon is there, so a ship with a 5mm beskar plating would probably be fine.

We ran through the example of Beskar on Skype. I think Limited is likely a bit much for 10 posts of dev. You could outfit a lot of NPCs in beskar.

I know the wording says MAY but I'd shift to:

Standard development may grant between Unique and Limited production depending on the submission, with a maximum of Minor production following additional development. Below in alphabetical order are the items and their associated objectives.

This was the wording I was looking for

Circumstantial, we can discuss that with standardized ship stuff.

This is the final format.

With this final form, [member="Raziel"] [member="Braith Achlys"] and I have come up with the following based on this discussion. [member="Spencer Varanin"]

The changes are marked in green:

------------------------------------------------------------------/* Notes

  1. Explained that standard development may grant between n Unique and Limited production depending on the submission, with a maximum of Minor production following additional development.
  2. Added the announcement about restricted materials that Spencer made concerning the use of base material submissions that utilize restricted materials will always require substantial development involving that restricted material.

Restricted Items

I. To be able to use a Restricted Item in your Factory Submission, a writer must first complete the objective attached to the restricted item in a convincing manner that adds to the quality of the role-play thread. Standard development may grant between Unique and Limited production depending on the submission, with a maximum of Minor production following additional development. Below in alphabetical order are the items and their associated objectives. Below in alphabetical order are the items and their associated objectives.

II. Submissions using Restricted Items will be reviewed by a Role-play Judge, and may be declined depending on the quality and effort of the submitter.

III. Objectives which require you to visit a planet located within the Influence Cloud of a Major Faction may only be completed in Non-Private threads.

IV. Completing restricted item objectives may count as development threads for the submissions using the restricted item. Each completed objective usually only counts for one submission.

V. This list is subject to change without notice. Changes will not affect past submissions.

VI. Submissions which make use of base material submissions that utilize restricted materials will always require substantial development involving that restricted material. (i.e; Phrik Armorweave submissions will require development for utilization in future armor submissions)
