Folks:

At this point, it's virtually certain that I'll be assuming some responsibilities within the next month or two that'll seriously preclude my ability to do a good job as faction head. Grad school, pregnant wife, all manner of great things. I've loved running this faction and would stick with it if I could.

After consultation with Apparatus, I've decided to go with Tefga's preferred course of action: An OOC vote for my replacement. I have a preferred candidate in mind, and a couple of other potentials, but I'd like to hear your thoughts. Don't restrict yourself to the best fighters or the most powerful Masters; the Dark Council will prefer the best leader, and ideally, we want the best person OOC for the job, though you're all fairly great. Consider this the nomination portion of the transition; we can do a formal vote afterward.

Following the vote, I'll work IC with whoever you pick, in order to craft a good story and a solid IC justification.

In discussion, I strongly urge you to consider every relevant factor and to focus on the positive reasons for every candidate. Whoever the majority picks, we need to agree to stand by the leader -- not to obey everything he or she says without question, but to work hard to keep making the Sith Empire a good solid place to have fun.

After most interested people have had their say, I'll present my preferred candidate, and my reasoning. We'll go from there.

Discuss.

I humbly submit Anaya Fen, she's the sithiest Sith I've read. She's also due for a promotion to master judging from her writing and the threads she is in. I know there are higher ranking people, but I think a fresh face is needed for the faction.

I'd also like to mention that @[member="Darth Voracitos"] would have been my favorite nominee if RL had allowed it -- as a former faction co-leader, current head of the Dark Council, and a good solid guy all around. So far as I'm aware, our dear Fatty is too busy, and that's just fine.

Anaya has developed her character greatly. Shes the perfect candidate because unlike the others she has been close to not one but two sith leaders. She is equal to Moridin with the blade and as smart and cunning as Ashin.

Anaya for Empress

You're too new, sorry. I wouldn't vote for you. Just being honest.

I wish I could simply say, "Nope, no problems at all, it's summer an I have all the time in the world to waste! Now gimme that title!"

However, Ashin is correct that very soon I would not be a practical leader. However, this is a good oppertunity for me to flesh out the Dark Council better.

Yes, you can, Rain, but please have that be your final word. I'd honestly like to see a lot of possible leaders discussed here today. I've spent the last week pondering all the potential choices, and I'd like to see that the faction as a whole is putting the same kind of thought into it.

Personally, I would nominate Spencer Jacobs, as to me, it makes sense that as the First Apprentice of the current Empress that she would be the next logical successor. Additionally I like the character. I haven't read quite as much of Anaya, so I can niether support her, or smeer her image as a canidate.

Cain is extremely new. That is a huge obstacle. He doesn't have any respect from anyone, and isn't known by anyone. His life has been a sad one. He has the potential to learn from the events that unfolded in his life. He would be a good leader not because he is the "perfect Sith", but because he isn't. Cain has sympathy. He knows what kind of pain his actions would cause. This wouldn't stop him from doing things, but it would make him more cautious while doing it. It would also cause him to think things through before taking action. As leader he wont do anything extremely reckless, that could cause a very extreme number of casualties. He would make sensible actions for the good of the empire. Don't think about how good he is known, but how good he could be. Put a little faith into a small person, and they can do big things.

Apparatus, or in his abstentia, Kaine. Apparatus just makes sense. Period. Kaine would be a good pick because he already operates as a political head and did a great job organizing the armory. He's a good bureaucrat, which is what we need IC, rather than a notable IC hothead like Anaya, a divisive plotter like Tirdarius or a functioning alcoholic like my own Mikhail.

I was under the impression that Apparatus OCC doesn't really want it because he is already the leader OCC, and IC would be additional work he would have to do.

I would Nominate Kaine as well, but right now in the IC environment I see Spencer Jacobs as the more logical successor. I could see Anaya as well, but to be honest I have no idea.

Spencer still seems to be in the beginning stages of garnering significant power, and not of a political kind. I'd rather see a master elevated to the spot than a knight.

In that case, most nominations thus far besides Apparatus would be out the window if I am correct. As I understand it Kaine isn't quite yet a Master (though I believe judges are reviewing that nomination, yes?)

None of the current nominees are a Master yet, but among the Sith, such a thing does not restrict election. You need only be properly capable of defending yourself against challengers to be able to place yourself on the throne. Whether you can keep it is another matter...
