Brainstorming

[member="HK-36"], You bring up a lot of solid points. Considering most of the group would be leaning towards the light side of the force, it would be difficult for some to patch up those who have opposing mindset as they do. It poses a question for not just the group, but individuals who would be helping downed soldiers. Are they willing to use supplies on friends, or on a potential enemy, even if goes against the "Doctors Code."

As for finding ways that are nonlethal, I don't often see people use rubber slugs. Or any non-lethal form of a slughthrower weapon. I do however see some people making stunners every so often. Much like the Tir Stunner. So they are out there, its just there are more weapons that are lethal than non-lethal.

As for finding, or making a wider variety, I don't have the resources here to do it, and I don't see my own character Sage, creating a company just for non-lethal tactical weapons. As for Jedi, or force users within our group, I agree that Form Zero should be taught. And having classes for the use of controlling yourself/themselves on the field.

However, what comes into question is this.

If you are on a field, and you give them every chance to surrender, to stop fighting, or to back off, and they still continue, You are given the opportunity to remove them, or kill them to prevent the deaths of others, then take them out.

[member="Jakkor Kess"] I think that [member="Hal Terrano"] claims rule over the library, but he can come in and correct me if I am wrong ;)

[member="HK-36"] Yes, doing some stuff with actually teaching non-lethal combat techniques and conflict resolution is on my list, and definitely incredibly important for characters who will be participating in OSL events to be aware of in some way or another (either by participating in that training IC, or knowing it already ooc, whatever works for people)

I already have plans in the works for the war starting between FO and GA- info on that will be incoming once details are worked out :D

[member="Lt. Sage"] we should do an ooc or maybe even IC thread on just that- what the expectations and limits are for the OSL, let folks contribute and discuss.

From purely my point of view, the goal should be to use non-lethal force at any opportunity- unless the situation has devolved in a manner where that is no longer possible. Injurious/deadly force should only ever be used as a last resort, and only if someone's life is in danger.

I'm going to spend this weekend putting some of these ideas into effect and getting the ball rolling on things- any ideas/desires folks have, keep 'em coming!

Oh, also, Re: treating 'enemy' soldiers

At least for now, there aren't 'enemy' soldiers for OSL- We're not fighting anyone. So I think that kind of thing would go on a case by case, character by character basis.

Beth will always treat someone in need. Always. But someone else may have to make a tough call to not help an injured sith or whatever.

My company actually makes a variety of non-lethal melee weapons, usually with some sort of electroshock system like batons, Force pikes, Electrostaves, electro-flails, most if not all of them lightsaber-resistant, those could be modified for the Order's purposes and copied over or it could be moved ICly and HK would just send a few shipments over for the Order

Maybe we should create subfactions (dont know how to do that in the faction page) but the idea is to create groups with lore to support them. Not just "Army, medics, teachers..." but to create groups with tematic.

The idea behind that is for new members. If they are new characters, they can enter to the subfaction page of "school" then after they can go into the "army" page for missions or how to participate in dominions. If the character has a company or is an engineer, they can share their idea or ask help for a company with a tier, and so on.

This can be done after everyone obtain their knights or master ranks. What do everyone think about it?

In my four years of experience on this website. Both creating, running, and moderating factions myself. Subfactions have never made any practical use of quote-unquote "subfaction pages".

However. Should a subfaction successfully gain at least seven to ten members? It has been shown to be profitable that they create a whole new Minor Faction just for their own personal use. :)

[member="Andy Khor"], You don't split up the faction when it first starts. That is "how to make a faction fail 101." As [member="Saint Monica"] said, You don't really want to use up space with a sub faction forum. Instead, Put in the title. "Teachers" or "Military" to designate who should really pay attention to it. OR, if you want to be a good person, you can follow the forum to make sure you see every thread.

My idea is wasnt to split it. I see that "subfaction" wasnt the right word, sorry if that confused you. Just like you said, a forum with every guild of the faction, but my idea was that they had a lore behind it.

This is a golden idea and has worked before. Indeed. Many other factions keep a singular Resources area which collects data and updates on all of their groups and sub-groups. Such as military unit types, special fleet squadrons, and corporate subsidiaries. Etc.

I simply must have misunderstood you. I thought you were asking for fully staffed and autonomous sub-forums. Lulz. :p
