SPECIAL FEATURES
- Uses molecular shielding technology, which provides excellent protection against blasters and other plasma energy weapons, lightsabers, and even kinetic damage.
- Molecular energy shields will not merely repel or dissipate attacks against them, but will absorb the energy of these attacks and convert it to sustain and power themselves, ensuring shields will not fail mid-attack because they have become overwhelmed or exhausted for all but extremely intense attacks.
- Thermal shielding layer and molecular shields can be used in tandem, or separately as needed, as desired by the user.
- Thin layer of shocksteel makes unit resistant to all but most significant EMP/Ion damage.
- These shields offer protection against a wide variety of attacks or threats, including indirect particles (shrapnel), most blaster pistols and rifles (or similar weapons), even against lightsabers or lightsaber-type weapons (i.e. lightwhips, force pikes, etc.) and significant kinetic damage.
- Molecular shields will absorb and redirect energy to continue to power themselves, making them sustainable for long-term use and wear.
- Additional thermal barrier shielding works well against fire and thermal weapons such as flamethrowers, incendiaries, and even thermal detonators.
- This is a personal shield, and will not protect beyond a 2m ‘bubble’ encompassing the user, making it a poor choice for protection of multiple persons or areas.
- These shields, while very strong, can still be overwhelmed or exhausted by extremely high-powered attacks or through relentless prolonged attacks against them. In short, you can still knock it out or wear it down, you just have to try a lot harder.
- These shields do not protect well against projectile attacks, and while they can slow them down measurably, most powerful projectiles will still penetrate the shields and without secondary armor can cause major damage and / or death to the user.
- These shields are not capable of creating a pocket of breathable air or offering protection against extreme cold, pressure, or harmful environments, making them unable to be used as an emergency life support system in space or on planets where such environments exist.
- If used apart from an armored suits power pack, the unit provides a total three hours of single-layer protection; unlike molecular shields, thermal shields do not absorb energy to power themselves, and unless being used in concert with molecular shield layer, will deplete themselves in three hours’ time, requiring a fresh power cell to replace the old one. If the power cell is exhausted, neither shield layer will work until a fresh one can be replaced into the unit.
Vrotoa Industries wished to upgrade its popular Bulwark Personal Shields to better match existing technologies now in use throughout the galaxy, and to overcome some of the flaws in its initial design, mainly the limitations on time due to power restraints. The solution was to switch to a dual-layered system, using molecular shields together with improved variations of the original Bulwark system’s thermal shielding layer. These two layers can be used simultaneously, or separately as circumstances dictate. When used together, they offer superior protection against a wide array of battlefield threats, and can absorb attacks against it to power and perpetuate itself, as can the molecular shields alone when used by themselves. The thermal shields are used as stand-alone shielding, they will operate for up to three hours’ time before depleting the power cell, unless linked to another power source such as those found in powered armor systems. Over all, the Bulwark Mark-II disproves the old saying that you cannot improve upon perfection, in fact, that is exactly what it does!
