The Neimoidian leaned back comfortably on the Neimoidian Mechno-chair, as it guided him into the ornate ballroom with a few clicks on the control panel. The Trade Federation, known for its immense influence and power, was considered to be one of the most dominant trading empires in the galaxy.

Having established strong relationships with various organizations such as the InterGalactic Banking Clan, the Velcar Free Commerce Zone, and the Commerce Guild, among others of reputable note.

Such connections played a vital role in the Federation's ability to expand its reach and maintain its status as a key player in the intergalactic trading and shipping market. Despite their susceptibility to the changing dynamics of trade, the traditional corporate power faced significant challenges during the ongoing conflict between the Galactic Alliance and the New Empire.

This war was going to force corporations to make a crucial decision between aligning themselves with the Federal Government or the Imperial Government of Carlac. The choice was essential for their profitability and to prevent any attempts of nationalization, although neither had the gual to actually consider taking assets that rightfully belonged to a key military power within both of their regions.

Followed behind by a myriad of Trade Federation Officals, ranging from Neimoidian Trade Barons to Sullustian Bankers, and even Muun Lawyers.

Following behind such a large entourage was a full battalion of Neimoidian Royal Guards, who would provide the Senator protection from hostile actors and spies that might lurk beneath the veil of the crowd.

Alicia Drey traversed the streets of Sundiata in route to meet with her business partner and associate Makai Dashiell. As she walked the familiar weight of the curved Lightsaber hilt (currently concealed on the upper forearm on her left) gave her a sense of comfortability, and security as she walked the unfamiliar streets of the Commonwealth. Since being freed by Operation: Absolution: the first strike of the Dark Empire against the Galactic Alliance to freed incarcerated allies of the so called 'dark' Imperials Alicia had been very active.

Perhaps too active.

The revelation of Darth Solipsis's return to the Galaxy- previously thought to be dead after the culmination of the Second Great Hyperspace War- had given Alicia capital to convince the high command of the so called Empire of the Lost and it's newly coronated Emperor to ascend the ranks of the New Imperial Security Bureau to the highest echelon of the organisation to Staff Director. Since her ascension Alicia had played some very bold moves. Her first action had seen her become a Double-Agent for the Dark Empire by convincing members of the New Sith Order and Dark Side Elite that she was their spy.

The second had been organizing a conflict between the Sith Order and the 'lost' Imperials on Felucia which culminated in the system becoming annexed by the Empire. It had dire consequences for Velran Kilran and his Moffs as the Corpse Emperor, Darth Empyrean, convened a war council meeting on board his flagship the Mors Mon to discuss the on-going conflict that the Sith were involved in with the Mandalorian Protectors and planning the invasion of the Empire before they could threaten their vassal state within the Stygian Caldera.

It had culminated in the Fall of Tion: a stain on galactic history marked by the Butcher King, Darth Carnifex, as he ordered the Base Delta Zero of the Tionese homeworld. This has caused a crisis within the Empire of the Lost as the Tion Hegemony collectively rose up in uproar to the destruction of Tion and the subsequent failure of the 'lost' Imperials in defending the star system from attack. As the Tionese spread throughout the Empire (survivors of the battle) in the fallout of the Sith attack rumours were beginning to circulate around the upper echelons of the Galaxy that the Empire had been compromised as whispers of Alicia's duplicity became known to the wealthy, and powerful.

As Alicia walked towards the restaurant where she was set to meet with Makai Dashiell Makai Dashiell for dinner she was acutely aware that with these rumours- with thanks to Empyrean's message during the attack- that in her future relations with the likes of Dashiell, Santhe-Sienar, Mecetti Nationalized Industries and other business entities with will have undoubtedly heard the rumours. Was Alicia Drey, in fact, a Sith Lord? Was she a spy working for the Dark Empire, or Empire of the Lost? Where did her true allegiances lay? Who was she working for?

Perhaps the pertinent, yet the most overlooked question of all, was what did these events have to do with business?

In Lianna City Alicia had opened Drey: a company that dealt with the manufacture and distribution of foodstuffs. Recently, the company had opened a Cortosis mine with a handful of prominent business men and women. Among the Board of Directors of the mine included the business partner she was set to meet with today in the form of Makai Dashiell Makai Dashiell , and even Danger Arceneau Danger Arceneau , who had taken the place of the Trade Federation of Planets during the Obredaan Peel after the Federation had curiously declined to involve themselves with this profitable venture.

In the case of Danger Arceneau Alicia had bigger plans that were set to be negotiated, with Arceneau Trading Company, on the Hunter's Moon of Sojourn. Acquiring the allegiance of the Trade Queen within the realms of commerce were vitally important to the plan. Regardless, if her rivals were trying to get a read on what Alicia was up too, she was satisfied that the truth had been obfuscated from all of them. After all, on the surface, none of it made sense. It was a blend of chaos, drama and forms of conceit of seemingly unparalleled narcissism border lining on psychopathy.

Especially after what she did on the Mors Mon.

But there was a convoluted, murky logic to all of this.

"A true Master never reveals him or herself."
-- Darth Ayra.

The difficulty presented to her now was to traverse the difficult path in which associates, partners or rivals would have to second guess whether they were dealing with an Imperial spymaster for the 'dark', or 'lost' Imperials. But Alicia had wanted it that way. If her allies or enemies did not know who she was aligned with then her movements and actions would always be obfuscated. The combination of the rumour that Alicia Drey was also a Sith Lord- without any real evidence- also gave her leverage as the terrifying prospect of crossing a Lord of the Sith blended with the public façade that Alicia was a mere businesswoman with no skill in the Force.

As they tried to deal with the miasma of lies and deceit Alicia's focus and goals were clear to her. Now they had brought her to Sundiata to win new avenues of commerce, power and influence within the Commonwealth. As she entered the Bambara Flavours and registered her reserved seat to meet with Makai- to break bread, and discuss business opportunities elsewhere in the Galaxy together- Alicia set her eyes upon the expansion of her organisation.

It had begun with the infiltration of the Imperial elitists within the Core, Carlac, the Outer Rim Territories and on Lianna; the takeover of the New Imperial Security Bureau, and creation of the Direct Surveillance of Domestic Threats initiative; the recruitment into the ranks of the Tsis'Kaar on Felucia; and the opening of Drey.

Now the next step was the Dosuunian Commonwealth.

Ivalyn Yvarro arrived early at the Expo Hall, taking in the grandeur of the Kankou Moussa Convention Center. The venue was a marvel of architectural elegance, with its sweeping glass facades and intricate gold accents, reflecting the prosperity and ambition of Sundiata. The staff had, as always, meticulously attended to every detail, ensuring a seamless experience for all attendees.

The Representative of the Dosuunian Commonwealth held a cup of caf from the nearby 't Koffieboontje, the Commonwealth renowned coffeehouse famous for its locally sourced brews. She savored the rich aroma, a small comfort amidst the bustling activity. Dressed in an impeccably tailored navy blue dress, its structured silhouette complementing her aristocratic poise, Ivalyn exuded an air of refined authority. Her long, wavy blonde hair framed her face, with a natural elegance and understated sophistication.

Ivalyn had been appointed to speak on behalf of the Secretariat, a role demanding precision and diplomacy. Every decision she made would be reviewed by two committees, reflecting the Commonwealth's commitment to thoroughness and accountability. The Commonwealth sought to secure armaments, defensive technologies, terraforming equipment, hardware, vehicles, and, most notably, force suppression technology. While open to various products, they had no interest in areas where they were already self-sufficient, ensuring that only the most relevant and competitive companies would capture her attention and potentially secure a contract.

Strolling through the convention center, she admired the meticulous setup of the booths, each representing a different facet of innovation and industry. The center buzzed with anticipation as vendors and companies finalized their displays. Ivalyn appreciated the diversity of exhibitors, even if some would leave without a contract; their presence still highlighted the importance of international cooperation and economic exchange.

With her inspection complete, it was time to return to the hotel. The day ahead promised a myriad of discussions and negotiations, but she felt ready. She would return to the convention center once the vendors and companies had finished setting up, prepared to engage in the intricate dance of diplomacy and commerce that lay ahead.

IITSaSL.png

At the Sunbali Rose Hotel, Ivalyn finished nursing her second cup she tossed it into the recycling bin as she greeted staff who escorted her toward the grand ballroom.

The hotel's opulent lobby, with its marble floors and crystal chandeliers, exuded an air of refined luxury. She greeted the staff with a polite nod, appreciating their impeccable service as she made her way through the elegant corridors.

Entering the grand ballroom, a magnificent space adorned with gold accents and expansive windows that offered stunning views of the surrounding city, she felt a surge of anticipation. The room was abuzz with activity, the murmur of voices and the clinking of glasses creating a lively atmosphere. As she scanned the room, her eyes met with a familiar face, and a warm smile spread across her lips.

Approaching the acquaintance, she gracefully extended her hand, ready to engage in the intricate dance of diplomacy and conversation that lay ahead.

[Note: Will make my way to those represented, please keep in mind Ivalyn/Commonwealth reserves the right to decline services/products. They will not be granting contracts in areas they are already self-sufficient in, thank you!]

THE COMMONWEALTH

Makai had arrived early.

Did he plan on doing business with the Commonwealth? Doubtful if he was meeting Alicia Drey at the premier restaurant of the Commonwealth. Opulent and well appointed, several business sentients were already in the lux space, drinks flowing and business being hashed out. It was one of the reasons he was here today, to come and see if Drey was in the correct frame of mind. After all, a decent chunk of credits were on the line.

He had heard the news, the trial of playing two governments at once. The whispers of being a potential Sith Lord rather than just a double agent with no loyalty. All very interesting, in his humble opinion. The half-Galan could care less about politics or government, if it didn't interfere with mining, his business, and his family it was rarely on his radar. He had too much to worry about on the day-to-day than worry about what politicians were squabbling over.

As for the potential Sith Lord aspect, it seemed every Jedi or Sith had a damned business. Force users having a business was irritating to him, they already caused enough destruction in the 'verse bitching over who had what power and who was right about invisible non-sense, he didn't need them clogging up the wheels of capitalism either.

Makai had checked in up front, now standing in the lobby in a simple three-piece navy suit, checking through his comm. Numerous messages, he fired off a few, including one to his father to keep his business in mind when dealing with the Commonwealth. There was more on the line than just the Commonwealth, rubbing elbows with others often gave more business than the government itself.

Bored, he fired off a message to Myra Arceneau Dashiell Myra Arceneau Dashiell .He wished she would have came along, but with all the issues in the Core it wasn't wise to leave the girls alone. At this point they were slowly transitioning to the Farm for the wedding, and there were plans on keeping the girls in the Tingel Arm region for the foreseeable future.

(( How's the bachelorette party going? ))

Amusement colored his features, knowing damn well she wasn't doing anything beyond listening to Persephone drone on about fashion and Rue interjecting her own commentary and questions with their own odd slant. Or begging to watch gravball, he had told the young girl to keep abreast of the the games, although that was more to make her feel important.

Looking up from his comm, iced azure eyes caught sight of Miss Alicia Drey. He slid the device in his pocket, moving to greet her.

"Miss Drey. Surprised you could make it."

DOSUUNIAN COMMONWEALTH

Judah wasn't quite sure what he could offer the Dosuunian Commonwealth, if anything. Mining they seemed to have down. Salvage was a migratory business ; one went where the battles were, where the vessels to be decommissioned were, where fallen buildings needed to be cleared. However, there were still a few reasons worth coming.

First, to rub elbows with fellow business owners in the 'verse. Some of his best contracts and leads had come from gatherings such as this, talking to others on the convention floors. Catch up. See what was happening in their corner of the 'verse. That was more important than ever with war breaking out, never knew when one needed to rely on their fellow partner in capitalism.

Second was a favor for Makai Dashiell Makai Dashiell . He was to inquire about the Commonwealth Geological Society to see if the government had any equipment, processes, or people his son could contract out for business. Just equally important, if any mineral rights were currently for sale or lease ; perhaps a foothold for Aina Holdings if something could be worked out.

Last was the meeting of a young teenager, apparently one that knew Iko Vel Iko Vel in some form or fashion. One who wanted to spend a day shadowing him, something he could easily grant. Now, he might have to shake the kid for his usual whisky and cigar gab fest after the convention with the other older men, but for the most part they'd be sticking like glue to his side.

Deciding on gray suit for the occasion, Judah entered the convention center, rows upon rows of presentations and booths were set in neat little grids with interns and associates running around like crazy with their convention badges flapping in the breeze they made. Oceanic eyes immediately started scanning for anyone he knew.

"Alright Kid, lets start making our rounds, maybe we can find a friendly face."

Aurora Industries had long been present within the Dosuunian Commonwealth, having helped the region stabilize after the destruction wrought by the Ssi-ruuk when the First Order collapsed. That presence had created many jobs, but growth of the company's footprint in the region had slowed as their focus turned to other regions of the galaxy over the past few decades.

With recent political movements however, tuned in as the company was to pending arrangements, the company was preparing to invest heavily in the region with expanded operations. To show how serious Aurora Industries was in terms of the scale of investment and interest in developing its presence in the Commonwealth further, they had reserved a large section of the display floor of the Kankou Moussa Convention Center and Merryn Sellek herself had arrived to make arrangements with interest parties.

Front and center within the Aurora booth was a hologram of a starship that was just coming on sale for the company, the new Elwin-class Rapid Assault Frigate. Arranged around that hologram were others of the ships developed within the company's Highwind Program such as IS-12 Pyrolisk starfighter and Phyllo-class Picket Corvette for those with a more militarily minded purchase agenda while others such as the Gagazet-class Manufactory Vessel and the Lominsa-class Reconnaissance Corvette for more economic or exploratory buyers.

Other portions of the catalog were of course on sale, with sales representatives from the company happy to answer any questions they might be asked about any of the products within the catalog, what might be in development for the company's other divisions, or even to begin negotiations for potential partners in developing something they might require.

Velda Praz' Covert Uniform was designed to duplicate any color and style of clothing needed, allowing her to mix in with commoners or wealthy citizens at a moment's notice. Yet somehow, between the uniform itself and the sun-shades she wore indoors, everything about her screamed 'look at me' in a way that Ministry agents were specifically intended to avoid.

She might be mistaken for an executive- or more likely an executive's bodyguard. Her rigid way of carrying herself leaned towards bodyguard. But the credentials she presented suggested she was an agent of the nobility of the Tapani Sector.

"Velda Praz, attending on behalf of House Mecetti," she said, echoing the identification and invitation she presented to the receptionist.

The receptionist reviewed everything and handed the documents back with a smile, "Welcome to Sundiata. We hope you enjoy your attendance at the Dosuunian Business Expo and Economic Conference. Would you like to be assigned a guide to show you around?"

Velda shook her head, "I'll find my way around, thank you. Is my room ready?"

The receptionist nodded, "Absolutely. The door has been programmed with your selected Private Identification Number. A note in your account shows that we were able to accommodate your other request: A room at the resort with no windows. We are always happy to cater to guests with special need-"

"Thank you," Velda cut her off, and walked away into the Expo grounds.

Soon enough, she made her way into the grand ballroom, finding a seat where she could listen to the Economists speaking... and the conversations of others who had gathered here.

The grandeur of the Sunbali Rose Hotel's Grand Ballroom provided a stunning setting for the Dosuunian Commonwealth's Business Expo and Economic Conference. Crystal chandeliers hung from the high ceilings, casting a warm glow over the elegantly decorated room. Marble floors gleamed underfoot, and the air was filled with the soft hum of conversations.

"Senator, a pleasure to see you," Ivalyn greeted, Lodd Grimmin Lodd Grimmin her voice smooth and welcoming as she approached the Neimoidian senator. She extended a hand, her eyes meeting his with a hint of determination. "I know you must be busy today, but perhaps later, I might have an audience? I have an idea or two I'd like to bounce around." Her tone was respectful yet assertive, reflecting her confidence in her proposals. As other attendees such as Casteban Mecetti Casteban Mecetti were being checked in, she added, "I'll be back to chat with you soon." Parting words, a reminder that she'd make her way back to chat with the Senator and anyone else in the hotel's Grand Ballroom.

Moving gracefully around the senator's chair, Ivalyn greeted another attendee with a warm smile and a brief handshake before making her way out of the ballroom. She couldn't help but wish one of her cousins had been able to assist with the event, but she knew she could manage on her own.
Stepping out into the bright Mephoutian sun, Ivalyn felt its warmth on her skin as she walked down the path leading to the convention center. The bustling Mandika district, with its vibrant plazas and meticulously maintained gardens, was as lively as ever. The air was filled with the sounds of chatter, footsteps, and the occasional bird song, adding to the day's dynamic atmosphere.

hdRCyCN.png

Reentering the convention center, Ivalyn noted that a few vendors had already set up their booths. The large hall buzzed with the sounds of setup and conversations, and she could see the promise of new technologies and business opportunities waiting to be explored. It was time to start taking a look at what was being offered, to see which innovations could benefit the Commonwealth.

With each step, Ivalyn felt the weight of her responsibilities, but also the excitement of potential discoveries. She moved with purpose, her mind already racing with possibilities and strategies. The mood of the event was one of optimism and ambition, perfectly aligning with her own drive for the day. Ivalyn noticed that Aurora Industries was among the vendors ready to speak, and thus headed in their direction.

"Hello, and welcome to Sundiata," Ivalyn dressed in her tailored navy blue dress, with her long blonde wavy hair greeted the representative of Aurora Industries. A quick glance around the convention center she was able see Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell and their company's booth. A mental note to visit them later, but for the moment, "Aurora Industries certainly has a name and legacy here in our part of the galaxy, but I am certainly interested to see what your company's pitch for the day is."

Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell

It was pertinent to keep an eye on large conventions and an ear to the capitalistic crowd. Knowing who was who and who financially backed whom was crucial for a young entrepreneur. Jocelyn, representing Spec Tech Innovations, was touring the convention with a specific goal in mind. They were quite observant and reserved, blending seamlessly into the bustling environment.

Jocelyn's primary objective was to meet Judah Dashiell for the first time. As a friend of Iko, they hoped to use this connection to facilitate a smooth introduction. Meeting Judah was a strategic move in an attempt to expand possible partnerships that Spec Tech Innovations' might influence.

As they navigated the convention, Jocelyn tried to remember the portfolio they now held. Spec Tech Innovations specialized in three main areas:

1. High-Performance Computing and Quantum Encryption: Developing advanced computing systems and secure encryption methods for a variety of applications.
2. Cutting-Edge Optical and Laser Technologies: Innovating state-of-the-art laser systems and optical devices for commercial and industrial use.
3. Bioluminescent Materials and Applications: Creating sustainable materials that can be used in a wide range of environments, from industrial to ecological.

Jocelyn's presence at the convention was marked by professionalism and observation. They carefully noted the various booths and displays, analyzing potential opportunities and partnerships collecting business cards and filing them away in to a simple folder. not only productive but also left a lasting impression. Leveraging their friendship with Iko would be key to building trust and credibility.

Meeting Judah was essential for Jocelyn to learn the how of networking.

Alicia found Makai at the table they had reserved for their dinner. Approaching her business partner Alicia gave him a warm smile, and replied: "I could say the same."

Since the Obredaan Peel Alicia had kept track of Makai over the past few months. Her tracking revealed that the man had been present on Empress Teta during a full scale invasion by the Dark Empire against the Galactic Alliance. After surviving the battle Alicia had seen Makai on Gala during an operation where she had bombed the Hill Tribe: natives who were under the protection of the Mandalorian Protectors. Inexplicably Dashiell kept showing up where it was at it's most dangerous to be. He was either the luckiest man alive to survive both conflicts unscathed, or the unluckiest to be caught in the midst of such galactic affairs while going about his own business.

"How are your Uncles? I heard about what happened on Gala, and of course, how are Myra, and Persephone? I should like to meet your family one day."

As she created small talk Alicia selected the menu and ordered something light. "I won't be staying here long, Makai. I am hosting a conference later today. But I did want to see you and catch up to see how my mine is doing?"

DOSUUIAN COMMONWEALTH

As he ordered a whisky and a fancy version of prawn toast, Makai carefully listened to Miss Drey.

She wasn't the only one that had been keeping up with the other's movements. Makai had kept close eye on the trial of Alicia Drey, one where she was declared a double agent, traitor, and Sith Lord. Maldor Mecetti Maldor Mecetti had been called in as a character witness, not the wisest move given his prison break and fall from the grace of House Mecetti. He would have to reach out to the Mecetti Matriarch to get more information, but the woman was just as slippery and private as the late, great Mister Mecetti had been.

It would be, in his opinion, interesting to see how it played out. It was also a great concern for business.

"Wiped out the family fishing village, but everyone has survived thankfully. As for Myra and Persephone, they are doing well. Both are busy but Myra has been working hard on a few projects for PharmaTech and Persephone has been busy interning under Danger as well as her academic studies. Looking forward to heading back home to them."

A nod at the mention of the conference, not staying long. He should probably hit the convention floor himself.

"Funny, I came to check on the same thing."

He paused as his whisky was delivered, taking a sip. After he swirled the liquid, thinking on his next words.

"I see your cuts and bruises healed nicely. Should I be concerned your work as a spy and Sith Lord is getting in the way of business? I have little concern of what you do in your personal life and more concern that your focus is stretched entirely too thin. Considering."

"Alright Kid, let's see here... You got anything in mind?"

Judah had checked in with the regional manager working Salacia Consolidated's booth, his presence not needed for the entire event. It was more check in, discuss how the convention was going, circle around and then come back when needed. Fairly simple. Back when he first started, his presence was needed the entire time because it was typically just him. Now there was an entire team who handled these things, seamlessly worked the business. Most were paid interns, eager to get experience, supervised by a few managers.

Unfortunately for Jocelyn Jocelyn , Iko Vel Iko Vel was not one of the paid interns. Completely different internships ; Iko on a salvage pilot program, these young folks were learning marketing and communications. Not quite the overlap.

Oceanic eyes caught sight of the booth of Taeli Raaf Taeli Raaf , and he made a mental note to come back when she wasn't so busy to inquire about the Lominsa-Class Corvette. It was perfect for a number of his mapping expeditions and maybe even a gift to Iko. The boy was very eager to put his ocean salvage ideas into play, Judah had the credits to encourage such a thing. If his own private vessel was what did it, so be it.

"What are you looking to get followin' me around? Also, remind me to speak to Miss Raaf once she is finished with the organizer of this event, I've got a shopping list."

"Rarely did events play out as imagined, in any case. The order of future events was transient. In the same way that the past was reconfigured by selective memory, future events, too, were moving targets. One could only act on instinct, grab hold of an intuited perfect moment, and spring into action."

Location: Sundiata, in the Bambara Flavours restaurant.

As Alicia listened to Makai she drew a cigarette out of her breast pocket and lit it up. Taking a moment to toke on it and then exhale the smoke away from Dashiell it took all her self-control not to crack a smile. The machinations of the Corpse Emperor had now entered her public life as a businesswoman. Indeed, wherever Alicia now dealt in business, the allegations and subsequent rumours that she was a Sith Lord were set to follow. Not only had Empyrean sought out the destruction of Tion but also wished to bring catastrophe, and ruination to a rival in the form of Darth Ayra: the alleged member of the New Sith Order and zealot of the Dark Empire who had infiltrated the upper echelons of Empyrean's enemies to pose enough of a threat that he needed to destroy.

It had resulted in her incarceration and suffering.

Taken by the 'lost' Imperials on Lianna and placed into the custody of the New Imperial Security Bureau for interrogation would have crushed a weakling into subjugation. But not her. The transient events and machinations of the Worm could not have been read nor foreseen even with the best intelligence networks, or foresight. But it had initiated a perfect moment in which Alicia had snatched an opportunity to not only defeat the allegations but create the perfect illusion to serve the façade that she wore not only within the Empire of the Lost but also now here on Sundiata.

"Yes... I am healing nicely," Alicia replied while focusing her gaze upon Makai. Those who told the truth always held eye contact with the other person in order to convey conviction in their words, and honesty. "The fallout of Tion has been rather taxing to say the least. The revelation that I am this Darth Ayra... the trial that was held regarding my identity, and the alleged acts of treason, and sedition against the Empire... it has been difficult for me. I cannot lie. But nevertheless the work of an organisation called the Tsis'Kaar."

Taking a moment to take a drag upon her cigarette Alicia exhaled into the air and continued her retort. "Some time ago now I met with our colleague Vyllia Santhe in Lianna City to recover some assets that were lost during the transitionary period between occupation of the Sith Empire and the late Volund administration. After that meeting I was contacted by a handler working within the New Imperial Security Bureau to do some work for them concerning a business arrangement between House Mecetti and the Empire. They wanted to use my expertise in business in order to negotiate a new contract and arrangement that would obfuscate Imperial involvement on Obulette should Mecetti Nationalized Industries be investigated by the Alliance."

This was all true and could be substantiated if Makai were to contact the people involved to ask questions. As Alicia continued to smoke she continued her elaborate tale.

"Velran Kilran, upon his coronation as Emperor, elevated me to the position of Staff Director of the NISB to take over their intelligence operations. When I took over I learned that the Tsis'Kaar had infiltrated the Bureau and were behind the assassination of the Voland administration. My investigation opened an opportunity to infiltrate a war council cabinet that was convened upon a ship called the Mors Mon where I learned of an impending Sith attack on the Tion system."

"You know what happened next: Tion was destroyed and I was put on trial for my involvement. The evidence produced during the trial was an attempt to convict me of treason and sedition and all of it was manufactured by the Tsis'Kaar who manipulated elements within the Bureau who were against me taking over the organisation after Kilran became Emperor. All of it was a well crafted plan by the Sith to cripple the Empire in multiple ways namely it's intelligence apparatus which was making roads into discovering their plans against the Imperials."

"So, Makai..."
Alicia took one final puff of her cigarette and then stubbed it out on the ashtray. "Do you really think I am a Sith Lord?"

Ivalyn Yvarro Ivalyn Yvarro

The Neimoidian offered a coordial glance away from the control panel of the Neimoidian Mechno-chair, as Ivalyn Yvarro Ivalyn Yvarro approached the Trade Federation Delegation within the ballroom.

Providing him with a means of diversion from the operations of the corporation, which had dedicated significant resources and personnel to developing trade ports and refineries on twelve different planets, shielded from the scrutiny of both the Galactic Alliance and the Dark Empire who might attempt to use the resources discovered for the Core War.

His bug-like eyes met hers with a squint, trying to think of if they had crossed paths before in a different time and place, although so far nothing came to memory. Extending a hand to meet hers, as she spoke about wanting to have an audience at a later time to go over some proposals, he couldn't help but feel a spark of intrigue at the prospect of collaboration.

"Naturally, we look forward to future collaboration." Lodd explained to Ivalyn Yvarro Ivalyn Yvarro , shaking her hand for a few moments as she disappeared soon afterwards. Shortly after, he directed his attention towards a Neimoidian attendant standing nearby, a subordinate member of the hive who handed him a datapad containing information about the Business Expo taking place in the vicinity.

"Interesting, it appears that Aurora Industries has acquired a significant portion of the exhibition space," he remarked, intrigued to personally explore the displays representing one of the largest companies in the galaxy, even older than the Current Iteration of the Trade Federation. Pressing the button on the mechno-chair as it took him and his entourage towards the expo hall.

Senator Lodd arrived within the Kankou Moussa Convention Center, making the journey through the crowds of corporate officials, lawyers, spies, and guardsmen protecting their charges. The Trade Federation's reputation for successful negotiations and lucrative business deals preceded them, with whispers of their latest acqusitions circulating among the attendess ranging from advanced Power Generators to Hybrid Ordinance Cannons, even new battle cruisers for the Galactic Alliance.

"Pardon the interruption, might I inquire on the specs of the new Elwin-class Rapid Assault Frigate that you have developed?"

The Neimoidian questioned the sales representative of Aurora Industries while looking down on them from the elevated position of the mechno-chair, with the imposing Neimoidian Royal Guards, encircling him incase of any assassination attempts or haywire inventions.

"Miss Yvarro, the city is quite lovely," Merryn greeted, turning away from the sales representative she had been speaking with. In her gray blazer and black slacks, hair up in a professional bun, she certainly looked the part of a business executive for one of the galaxy's larger corporations. "I understand that congratulations will be in order shortly for your new role. Lady Raaf wanted me to pass along her apologies that she could not attend this event herself as she is needed on Jutrand."

The Emperor was unveiling his choices for the Dark Council, and with her Master poised to take one of the coveted seats, the Sith Lady wanted to be near at hand for any final maneuvers that would be required.

"As for our pitch today, we're more testing the waters," Merryn continued. "As you stated, we have a legacy in this region of the galaxy, but we're hoping to further expand that relationship with the Commonwealth and the worlds that are incorporated within it. I understand we aren't the only legacy corporations looking towards a resurgence in the region."

It was no secret, at least to Merryn as her superior had familial ties, that Primo Victorian was looking to also begin modernization programs and they had an equally, if not even deeper, connection to the Commonwealth than Aurora did. It might be a friendly rivalry at present, but they both produced similar products and that could create a clash.

"In that regard however, I would ask what the Commonwealth in particular might be looking for from us. We have only just begun rolling out our next generation of starships, as you can see around us, and other projects are coming online soon enough. We recently developed a modular infantry weapon system for a bid into the Alliance market, but they went with a Mandalorian design instead, so that design is open for development elsewhere if there is interest."

While Merryn was speaking with Ivalyn, a younger female of Mirialian descent in Aurora Industries colors was the one who turned as the Senator for the Trade Federation approached in his mechno-chair and his bodyguards. Even with the contract agreed to between Aurora and the Federation for use of some Aurora starships, they had been keeping tabs on the developments within the Federation.

"Of course, Senator Grimmin, we'd be delighted to detail the Elwin-class frigate," she replied. "The Elwin-class rapid assault frigate is the fourth generation rapid response and assault frigates developed by Aurora Industries. Based upon the previous hull design of its predecessor, the Agrias-class frigate, the Elwin has made several design improvements upon the ship. Notably, armaments have been replaced with fourth-generation Aurora Industries weaponry including the AI-T5 Ifrit Turbolaser, the AI-LC4 Valefor Laser Cannon, and the AI-MD4 Ixion Mass Driver Cannon. Defensive point defense emplacements are from our AI-PD4 Leviathan emplacements."

Weaponry that was, if compared to some of the new armaments being fielded by the Federation and its partners, had more versatility and modularity along with potent firepower in a smaller package.

"The Elwin is also equipped with Garuda Variable Ion Drives that allow it to have increased speeds in both vacuum and atmosphere, nearing some starfighter level of speeds, and the Madeen Shiftdrive for use as the primary hyperdrive or use as a Path Engine or Otherspace drive. Aurora Industries wanted to ensure the latest version of our frigate to respond to crises or engagements more rapidly than other similarly sized starships. We also expanded the hangar capacity from its predecessor and improved the armor with the company's Golem advanced hull plating."

The sales representative would give the Neimoidian a smile as she added, "We have also included as standard Aurora's proprietary communications suite known as the Syldra that can be used both as a standard comm array, but also one that can create a telepathic link to avoid eavesdropping. Something that would be quite useful in these troubled times. We also partnered with First United Astral Engineering for their Divine Eyes sensors. All of this is powered by frigate scaled version of our Starscourge Reactor System. Did you have any other questions, Senator?"

The Neimoidian took extensive mental notes, as the Aurora Industries Represenative went over the specifications of the newly developed Elwin-class Rapid Assault Frigate. The fourth-generation model showcased an impressive design, with its smaller profile making it a commendable investment when compared to the battlecruisers and star destroyers being developed by the Galactic Alliance to counter the New Empire in the Core Region.

In 900 ABY, battlecruisers necessitated extensive crews and excessive armaments to be deemed top-of-the-line, whereas a frigate could be automated and its systems streamlined, while still providing ample power output for any engagement.

The Trade Federation had become ensnared in such a production dilemma, concentrating solely on providing the Alliance with bigger ships and overlooking the importance of smaller support roles that could provide greater versatility on the battlefield than a single large target.

While it was comprehensible considering their status as a trading and shipping empire rather than a proficient naval force, it would necessitate a reconsideration from their policy division.

"We believe that the fourth-generation design will make a significant impact on military catalogs if it is introduced to a broader market. However, its performance compared to other existing frigates remains a question, as those models have undergone thorough trials and combat use. Have you run such comparisons?"

The Neimoidian asked - wanting to know if they had conducted simulated combat with other frigates in development and those already on the market.

THE COMMONWEALTH

Makai listened to Alicia Drey Alicia Drey without interruption as she weaved a tale of two governments and Sith vying for power plays. It was taking a great deal of effort not to interrupt her story, instead sipping on his whisky at a more rapid pace than he had before. Drey was speaking about things that he had little to no background information, and to be frank, beyond the destruction of Tion, he didn't care about. However, she seemed to have a strong need to paint this story, this picture, so he let her.

"So, Makai..." Alicia took one final puff of her cigarette and then stubbed it out on the ashtray. "Do you really think I am a Sith Lord?"

"Miss Drey."

It was clear she didn't answer his question. Did she tell a long story just in hopes he would forget or was the story all an attempt to show she was perfectly capable of handling business while balancing such a lifestyle. It wasn't a concern just for Miss Drey alone, no. He had recently contracted with a Jedi Padawan and he held concerns that business was just a plaything, when push came to shove, would be abandoned to fight in the next 'war for peace'.

Amusement touched his features at his own thought.

"The question was not you are a Sith Lord. If you were, I wouldn't be surprised. Every Jedi and Sith in the universe seems to have time to not only destroy the galaxy but also run a thriving business. I have little concern for those who use the force and what alignment they may be on ; much if the actions and outcomes are the same for people like myself."

A small pause.

"My question was is can you focus on business as well as your outside dealings. Reassurance that this is not a fleeting fancy for you, for some of us this is our main livelihood."

Alicia flicked the ash off the end of her cigarette into a nearby ashtray and exhaled a plume of smoke to mask her annoyance. Hadn't she just answered Dashiell's question? Here she sat freed from the prisons of the New Imperial Security Bureau a free woman. The accusations lobbied by both Imperials and Sith defeated in a court of law. Although she was a Sith Lord there was no substantiated evidence to the contrary. Whereas rumour and superstition were set to follow her- granting advantages or disadvantages when it came to business- the story was simple: Alicia Drey was not a Sith Lord.

Regardless of what others had to say.

"Mr Dashiell," Alicia replied with a smile. "I do believe I answered your question? I am not a Sith Lord. Therefore the concern you have regarding my affairs outside of our business arrangement on Obredaan are none of your concern. I have multiple avenues of business and commerce that I engage with and attend too. Cortosis is one branch. I am also an information broker and gatherer on behalf of a multitude of clients across the Galaxy. The trial that was held on Lianna was an unforeseen cost of business that I survived."

"If you are concerned that my other business will impact you then I will ease your mind. There will be no interference or push back in regards to our partnership. Allow me to also reassure you that my association will be long term and that my place in the markets will be fortitudinous to say the least. There isn't anyone or anything that is going to take me out of that I can assure you."

A waiter approached serving what Alicia had ordered: a bowl of Parmarthen bantha stew. In her youth Alicia had visited the Pamarthen homeworld of Pamarthe and had lived there for several months while conducting business on behalf of Subacc Innes. It was infamous among non-Pamarthen's for it's overbearing smell- and if Alicia were honest, the smell was quite potent- but she found the meal nostalgic and after her near death experience after the Fall of Tion she had allowed herself this one reward for survival.

Ivalyn looked over at Senator Lodd Grimmin and smiled. "Senator," she acknowledged with a nod before returning her attention to Merryn, listening intently to what the businesswoman had to say. "I understand Lady Raaf is quite busy, but please accept my congratulations and convey mine to her as well." News of Lady Raaf's reappointment to the Dark Council had spread quickly, especially within their circles.

As Merryn mentioned Aurora Industries' interest in testing the waters, Ivalyn's smile grew slightly. "That's very true. The Commonwealth is indeed reaching out to corporations with a strong history here." The implication was clear, and she was certain Merryn understood.

She remained enigmatic as Merryn discussed starships, a topic that seemed to captivate the Senator. However, the Commonwealth wasn't interested in starships themselves. Components, perhaps, but Ryssa had already secured Primo Victorian's contract for starships. Ivalyn was far more intrigued by the weapon systems. "Now that," she gestured towards the modular infantry weapon system, "is something the Commonwealth would be very interested in. May I send these schematics to the appropriate parties?"

"What's this... is this available?" Ivalyn gestured towards a bow. "I believe some of our more niche units might have an interest in fine-tuning this." She continued to glance through Aurora Industries' offerings. "And the drones, all of them." It was clear that Aurora would be securing another contract today.

"And... abscencite. Why don't we meet a little later on? We can arrange preliminary terms, and I'm confident that between our two parties, we can work something out." Her tone was professional, yet there was something more in her smile and demeanor as she addressed Merryn.
