She listened to the rest and Judah as well as Danger summed it up best. THe other jedi who was there spoke for himself. Her fingers holding the fork as she was eating the cake and it was delicious. She listened to the woman from Primo Victoria who spoke and snickered. "No we are still around." She said it with a small grin on her face... the cake was good and she was waiting to hear what the grandmaster was going to say... aiding was never a problem... it was the offering it and it being taken that seemed to be the bigger thing. She listened as the woman was breaking it down and she only blinked as she had seemed to escape some notice... Sasori had profit but they were expansive now in many cases and could give a lot as needed.

"I know on the subject of refugees that Atrisia has designated and terraformed many of their worlds to house them. We researched much of the technologies. Offers in the past to trade went unanswered." She sat there and didn't worry about it.. they had just expanded outwards and went for advancing more of their technologies or someof the other aspects while she looked through the interface for projects. They were working on other things. "And one does not need to should a burden, we aare jedi. We endure, we rise to do as needed and we provide." She shrugged for a moment taking another bite... the last bite of the cake and she frowned as the other jedi went hostile with the woman.

"Interesting developments."

Ryssa listened carefully, her expression calm but her eyes glinting with determination. Braze's words were sharp, but they only fueled her resolve. She leaned forward slightly, her posture confident.

She began, her tone measured yet firm, "it's interesting that you see my questions as a moral high ground. I'm not here to judge from above but rather to ensure that the guiding principles, as it were, are not compromised. You seem to imply that collaboration between the Jedi and corporate interests is purely a matter of common sense, but you were the one who introduced the idea of humanitarian aid as a market. "

Ryssa regarded Braze with a piercing gaze, unflinching in her resolve. "If your intention was to suggest that by helping these poor souls, they'll eventually turn into customers for the Corporate Interests Guild, then you have certainly worded yourself quite poorly. "

"Let's be clear: I'm not against cooperation. But let's not dress it up as altruism when the underlying motive appears to be profit. You want to talk about stability and security, and I understand that—truly I do. But I had asked for clarity in your previous statement, and rather than provide that clarity. You resort to childish insults and taunts, is this truly what the Jedi have become. "
Ryssa looked between Braze and the Grandmaster, surely the Galactic Alliance and their New Jedi Order were doing more than producing corporate force users. She paused, her gaze did not leave the young person before her, Ryssa knew what Braze intended to say but rather than clarifying or articulating in a different way what they meant. They decided to be abrasive, though she supposed that came with the territory of the Jedi these days.

Ryssa's brow arched at the mention of Matsu Ike's offers having gone unnoticed or unanswered by the Galactic Alliance. The woman knew damn well that Primo Victorian would firstly not send the Galactic Alliances offers but if they did, it would be unanswered. "Interestingly enough, Ms. Ike, or is it Mrs? Well, you are not the only one here who have had calls go unanswered by the Galactic Alliance. Even proposals or offers, I believe... it is Merryn Sellek? Do I have that right? For Aurora Industries, yes?" Ryssa paused for a moment recalling the conversation with her niece Ivalyn, after she secured contracts for the Commonwealth. "I believe there was a blaster you had offered to the Alliance, and they - as is their right - went to a competitor. I also have it, that my own nieces and nephew in an effort fulfil some last wish for their late grandmother. Delievered a ship to the Galactic Alliance, but my, I do believe it has been seen nowhere."

"My point here is, it is clear that the Galactic Alliance has its preferences for corporate interests itself. As does any self-governing nation should, however..."

She leaned forward, her tone firm yet measured. "While, I understand that you and the Grandmaster are both quite busy, but so are we. Time is money. We're here to discuss meaningful collaboration, not vague platitudes that skirt around the real issues. If you have something of substance to propose, I suggest you articulate it, clearly. Otherwise, I would advise you to simply send a holomail outlining your intentions and we can address it as we see fit."

Ryssa is well aware her mother is alive, she just doesn't like acknowleding it. Also hope this provides enough fodder/juice to keep this thread going. TY Braze for the tennis court posting, I'm OOC outie until I get more time! Will reply sometime next week.

Outer Rim Resources Director
Alex gently laid the back of his hand against Braze's arm to draw his attention to the older Director. "Easy there kid," He said keeping his tone light. "You don't need to explain yourself to anyone here. We all place profit first to some degree or another. Anyone who says different is either lying or on the verge of bankruptcy. And you Miss," he shifted his attention to Ryssa Yvarro Ryssa Yvarro "We of all people shouldn't be demanding that others keep themselves poor and humble." He looked around the room, pointing out with his eyes the multitude of people here, all casually displaying an immense collection of wealth just through the clothes and accessories they wore. Ryssa's own earrings could probably feed a frontier family for a season or two. "Even when we deliver aid, isn't it often paid for though a government? Even if it's in a tax credit?"

A long pull from his soda cooled his throat before he continued. "As for the rest of it, I don't like the idea of any nation scooping up my people and ORR assets for nothing and claiming them as their own. That's how nationalization works, and there's no benefit in it to those I'm responsible for. Secure trade routs is also an undeniably good thing, I'm sure we can all agree. Frees up resources from running escort on freighters and keeps our people safer." There were more points he could go through, but he really wasn't here to referee between other members. Whether they acted like children or not.

"There's potential for profit and benefit for all sides here. I suggest you two," He looked between both of them with his best 'stern father' look, "apologize to each other like civilized people and keep quiet long enough to let the Grandmaster say her piece. Or if you're so concerned with time, just leave. No one is holding you here."

She would offer Judah a slight smile at the mention of talking to Lady Raaf on her behalf for more vacation time. That would be both unnecessary and unneeded as she likely wouldn't use any more of it anyway, not with how much work Aurora Industries was trying to focus on. She would have made some sort of comment to Judah to that effect, but when she saw the aunt of her girlfriend join the meeting, she would pause and watch her for a moment, holopen resting gently against her datapad for recording the meeting.

Ryssa had taken the company founded by her mother and grew it significantly and held the shipbuilding contracts within Commonwealth space in an iron grip. She respected the woman for that, and she could feel her eyes watching her even as she was distracted by the masked Sith attending the meeting. The arrival of the Jedi Grandmaster into the conference room interrupted any further discussion and speculation on what Valery Noble might want from them as she began her pitch with the sort of expected platitudes one would expect from a visiting dignitary. Her pen would start to immediately move as she took her first notes as even the opening statement, acknowledging their embargo on the Dark Empire and the disruption to trade and the flow of commerce, could carry some hints as to the actual proposals.

Her pen would stop, and her gaze would move up as the Colicoid and its interpreter immediately challenged the Jedi, earning several slow blinks of disbelief from Merryn as he proposed highly aggressive moves and tried to dictate the direction of the meeting with his brash declaration and admittedly threats. It was followed up by some more, if veiled, aggression from the head of N&Z and... she would have to call it an annoyed curiosity from the Trade Federation Viceroy as he asked why she had gone around the Senate to the corporations directly. It was a good question to ask, and something she would log away for her boss. She suspected Lady Raaf would be highly amused at the direction of the meeting already.

And of course, the Trade Queen would swoop in to defuse tensions, with all the skill she had acquired over her decades in business and her vast reputation. Mr. Dashiell would reinforce the curiosity at why the Grandmaster was approaching them, given the relative strengths of the Alliance through irrefutable data points. She was about to add onto that when one of the Jedi members of their group, although she was unsure of how much market share young Mr. Braze had, as he disputed Mr. Dashiell's statement. Ryssa Yvarro stepped into the conversation, sparring with the young Jedi for a few moments before Master Ike also chimed in to state that offers from Sasori had gone unanswered.

When Aurora Industries and she herself were mentioned by Ryssa, she would nod and say, "Yes, although Merryn is just fine Ms. Yvarro, Aurora did offer a product for the Alliance that met its designated parameters, and you would be correct that it lost to a design from Black Hand Rifle, a Mandalorian company if memory serves me correctly which is curious considering they are among the groups mentioned as a worry by the Grandmaster. The Dosuun Commonwealth has since signed for the design under a different name."

She would glance over at Braze and Mr. Stern, then to the others in the room, before continuing, turning her attention back to the Grandmaster.

"But perhaps, before we continue speculating and adding or subtracting words from the Grandmaster's mouth, we hear what she actually wants to propose to us collectively and what might be on the table more selectively and targeted for those corporations that might not have an easy means of contributing to hyperlane maintenance or trade or who might have troublesome connections to particular groups and individuals that may conflict with the Grandmaster's affiliations even if they are perfectly willing to do business with the Alliance and Jedi?"

She would make a small gesture to the assembled corporate members, offering the Jedi Master a small polite smile as she added, "The Guild does run quite the spectrum of interests after all."

Braze felt, well, rather overlooked—or maybe he was just being used as an unwitting audience for someone else's soapbox. He'd offered concrete suggestions, pointed out how a partnership with the Galactic Alliance could benefit both the Alliance and the Corporate Interests Guild. But that didn't seem to matter. They needed a stage to moan about why their precious gadgets hadn't been chosen, an outlet to justify and soothe bruised egos. He wasn't here to placate them. Alex had a point; arguing with adults who couldn't grasp straightforward logic yet still paraded their pseudo-intellectual airs was a fool's errand.

If they truly wanted clients clamoring for their "great" products, maybe they'd spend half as much time refining their goods as they did throwing a tantrum in a Guild hall meeting.

Perhaps they even needed to pick on a young teen to reassure themselves of their own importance. Odd, really, that a room full of wealthy, supposedly successful adults felt compelled to justify their positions by targeting a literal kid. But hey, if that was what helped them sleep at night…

Braze knew who Danger Arceneau, Judah Dashiell, Vora Kaar, Rulonom Laborr, Tertius C. Nargath, John Locke, Shuklaar Kyrdol, and Matsu Ike were in the business world due to the kinds of products they put out. But Taeli Raaf and Ryssa Yvarro? Who even were they? To Braze, they were nobodies. Maybe Guild members, sure, but jerks he had no desire to befriend, let alone partner with. He couldn't quite grasp why they were so... so... contentious. They seemed genuinely upset about something. Oh—was it because the Galactic Alliance didn't use their goods? And what was that about a gun? Was that the contest Shuklaar Kyrdol had won?

Wait… were the two going off about that gun contest that Shuklaar Kyrdol Shuklaar Kyrdol WON? "Oh... I see." Braze settled back into his seat, now looking far too amused as he raised his cup in a 'cheers motion'. He had learned from young-lings in the creche some times you had to just step back and let them throw their fits till they got it out of their system. The playing field was clear now. They were sore simply because they weren't getting the recognition they craved. Hell, the GA used some of his ships. Now he understood why they felt the need to make themselves seem so important… they just weren't relevant at the moment and wanted some spot light. He picked up his cup of Caf and sat back with a devious little smirk taking a sip and going silent.

Valery just blinked, clearly baffled at how chaotic the meeting had become. From aggressive responses to her to different discussions drowning out the purpose of the meeting, she wasn't quite sure how to proceed for a moment. But after waiting for silence to return to the room, she cleared her throat and addressed those gathered.

"Apologies, it wasn't my intention to start a meeting this chaotic." She looked around and dipped her head, "Perhaps we should take a small break. Then we can return to a meeting with those who would like to hear specifics regarding my request. If you don't see yourself looking for common ground with the Alliance, perhaps this meeting is not interesting for you."

With that, she looked around once more and dipped her head again. If the format of the meeting wasn't going to change, she might as well depart already.

"I think maybe a break might be in order, let tempers cool and everyone can walk off their aggression."

The dark haired man let his gaze slowly travel around the room, before he sighed and shook his head.

"When we come back, remember that we're all here voluntarily, because we want to network with our peers, but also because if the Dark Empire has shown us anything it's that the vagaries of the galaxy can take us all by surprise and we can support one another through it. It's just that though, a network. No-one here can speak for another, can set policy or and expectations for everyone else. But..."

The man raised a finger as he leaned forward,

"Just because we are a group of individuals, of companies, that is not an excuse to be rude. Everyone here is entitled to their own views, and to make their own decisions based on the evidence and how they see the world. If you can't manage that much, then please send a proxy to the meetings who can. We don't all have to agree with one another, or with a proposal that's put forward, I'd honestly be surprised if we did. But please at least treat each other with the respect you'd like us to show you."

The dark haired man leaned back and gestured to the droid who was handling the refreshments.

"Perhaps a little more of that tea would be in order."

His eyes met Shuklaar's visor for a moment, glancing down to the flask in his hand before shaking his head. "It's too early for me to start drinking...at least right now. Ask me again in a few hours and we'll see how I feel." A smile touched his lips as he leaned back in his chair, gesturing for his friend to slide his chair closer and relax. "Let's wait and see what hte Grandmaster has to say, then we can start on our own discussions."

About to speak, he thought it wise to brush the blondie crumbs out of his beard first. Not very professional to address the group with crumbs hanging on for dear life. Straightening, he looked around a moment before speaking after Mister Locke did so. They hadn't gotten to any of the meat of the meeting, so naturally he was still curious why they were assembled.

"I'd be interested in hearing more. Whenever you're ready Grand Master."

Fishing his datapad out of his pocket, Judah grabbed his second blondie and focused on replying to holomail messages until the meeting was ready to resume once more.

Hey CIG, if you're interested please post once here to indicate so. Let's not spam the thread since there are lot of us trying to figure out what the Galactic Alliance is looking for. If this is not for you, feel free to bow out and we'll see you next thread. Thanks!

It is easy to see how many here hold a distrust to the Alliance. Some, like myself, have had their efforts for some sort of business arrangement to be ignored. And now that things weren't so rosey for them; their eyes fall upon outside resources.

Better late than never? Who knows? I can certainly see the benefit of it. However my own history and NCBC's history with most of those present was mininal at best. So there was not much to argue with for me there.

That was probably a good thing. And given that no one was going to leave the meeting for some fresh air, I maintained my seat. However I did long to take in the views of the oean and to touch the waters. Perhaps I will be able to do so once the meeting concludes if I have a moment to spare. For the moment I merely nibble on the cake provided to me.

The back and forth had been interesting to say the least and more revealing. She remained there with some of the cake and really didn't need to move. "I would be interested to hear." Her fingers tracing when she looked at Judah and what he was eat as she mouthed. 'What is that?' But didn't say it before leaning back a little in her seat. The interface coming up with minutes and notes she was making through eye flicks and her fingers. moved making a few more notes for herself. Products streaming over her vision as she was looking at different things they were developing and what was coming out of the testing phases or into the development.

Braze watched as the meeting finally began to settle, with John Locke's call for respect nudging everyone back toward a more civil discussion. Valery Noble's suggestion for a short break was well-timed, offering a chance for everyone to regroup and refocus.

Braze exchanged a quick look with Alex, who'd helped him keep his cool earlier. The support was a relief; While Braze was eager to get back to the actual discussion, the pause gave him a chance to breathe, ready to push forward with his ideas and potential partnerships when the meeting resumed.

Settling back into his seat, Braze observed the room gradually quieting. He placed his empty caf cup aside and stood, drawing a few glances.

"I'm interested in hearing more," he began, his tone measured. "However, I have other matters on my agenda today. When we reconvene, my representative, Everette Clairmont Everette Clairmont , will join in my place."

With that, he inclined his head, signaling both interest and respect, then turned toward the door. Just before leaving, he drew out a small notebook, jotting a quick note, folding it, and sliding it to Alex with a faint smile before stepping out into the hall.

Things were winding down for now, which was probably good. He had blocked out all today and tomorrow for this meeting, even through he hadn't expected it to last that long. The extra day was just in case and to give him a day off a ship and out of a meeting room before heading back to the offices. Could Nine was a wonderful place, but floating sky cities didn't have much room to stretch the legs surrounded by greenery. A problem that wouldn't last for long if certain plans went through.

Taking Braze's note, he stretched out his legs and tipped up his bottled soft drink for a long drink as he read it. Then he typed out a quick comm message so the boy could put a name to his face and also get his code back. After, he munched on his two remaining cookies in the pack and caught up on his holo mails.

Shuklaar had been under artillery barrages more peaceful than the conversation that currently taking place. If the thinly veiled argument could even be called a conversation that was. He caught a blanket anti-Mandalorian statement tossed by someone representing the dar'jetii company, but found it hardly worth acknowledging, let alone responding to. Another sip of the Tihaar laced caf reminded him why the simple things in life brought him so much pleasure. It was probably the same reason his accountant was constantly chiding him about his Tihaar expenditure. Thankfully Jhira Mereel Jhira Mereel didn't disapprove or he'd really never hear the end of it.

John to likely no one's surprise let loose with a chiding reminder of who they were and more importantly why they were here. There were times that he forgot that he had been Darth Metus' second for a reason. It was times like this that he was reminded of one of the reasons of why that was. His words reminded him of an aruetii saying about opinions and a specific part of one's shebs that perhaps shouldn't be mentioned in most company.

He nodded in response to John's polite declination, "Let's hope it's to toast success, then." He nodded again and pulled up the chair, settling back into it again. The chair, to its credit, only groaned quietly in response to his full armored bulk being rested on its structure once more. He took another sip of his coffee, this time pinching one of the pastries as the droid came back. "Should probably pass these up, wouldn't want to starve the speaker," he added to the droid before falling silent once more.

People wondered why Mandalorians conducted cease-fires over meals. Everyone was always happier when good food and drink were involved. Whoever had ordered the droid in was clearly perceptive enough to pick up on that.

It was all getting out of hand, even with Danger Arceneau Danger Arceneau attempting to defuse the tensions, the bickering between Braze Braze and Ryssa Yvarro Ryssa Yvarro seemed to drown most of the conversations. Tapping with his fingers on the table, the Eriaduan noble moved over to Liin Terallo Liin Terallo and greeted her with a smile, nodding towards the chaotic preceedings of this meeting. "I reckon this might actually take us a lot longer than I had hoped."

When it looked like the Grandmaster Valery Noble Valery Noble was not having this chaos, the Marquis let out a soft sigh, raising the cup of black liquid he had brough with him from his seat, nodding in disapproval of how things had went. Surely, his own conduct might have been called slightly agressive, but it was nonetheless within bounds and his questions werent without reason. Patting lady Terallo on the shoulder, Tertius motioned he'd take the seat next to her, just to make it clear they'd have to start acting as a unified front in these matters. "Grandmaster Noble, my apologies... there is a lot of stress and frustration in our line as well, it is not correct of me and anyone else to bother you with our own insecurities."

As he sat down, he noticed for the first time that Shuklaar Kyrdol Shuklaar Kyrdol had actually taken off his helmet...not something you happen to see a lot with the mandalorians, at least not those that follow the old creeds and commandments. He didn't know if sir Kyrdol was part of the latter, but it was still somewhat of a surprising sight. "Two mandalorians removing their helmet in my presence within a fortnight...strange things do happen...heh."

And it was for this exact reason that Noah tended to avoid meetings and events such as this. You get enough personalities like the ones currently residing in the room and argument, mud slinging and anger were bound to flare up eventually. ‘Too many alor’s and not enough vod’e’ as his mother would put it.

He simply kept to himself, sipping caf from a white mug that a droid had brought around, popping a legume into his mouth every now and then between sips of his hot drink and simply listened to the conversations and such flow around him, not adding in anything to the conversation but also not looking to take away too much from the bickering.

When Valery and John Locke both called for a break to let tempers and heads cool he finally decided to speak. “I’m of the same mind as Grandmaster Noble and Mr Locke, this amount of bickering is unproductive and a small break would be a good idea.” To anyone else Noah’s deliberate pointing out, and almost mocking tone, of Valery’s rank might be seen as rude but they didn’t understand the relationship between the two friends.

Danger welcomed the small break; a breath of calm always did wonders for composure. She'd done her rounds during the intermission, slipping in conversations with a few familiar faces, catching up with old colleagues, and making sure she sent out a few personal messages. She'd requested a meeting with the Jedi Grandmaster Valery Noble Valery Noble , suggesting they connect in a more private setting at a later time. She'd also reached out to the Aurora Industries representative,Merryn Sellek, knowing it was high time they all sat down in a more intimate setting, just her, Taeli Raaf Taeli Raaf , and the representative.

Today called for something a little stronger to brace herself, so along with her usual caf, she graciously accepted Shuklaar Kyrdol Shuklaar Kyrdol 's offer of a heavier punch. She'd thanked him warmly, flashing one of her signature winks as he poured. Now, with a sturdy mug in hand, she settled back into her chair, waiting for the meeting to resume.

Business could be a whirlwind, but Danger had a way of steering through it all with a practiced charm that left others as steady as she was.

I take note of the Marquis as he approached and offered him a small smile in return. I dip my head to him, indicating that I fully agreed with his remark. This was indeed going to take longer than I'm sure that anyone had anticipated. "No one really planned for an argument, I'm sure. But we are a large number of distinct and independant individuals with a multitude of concerns that do not quite overlap."

With a small gesture, I imply to him that he may sit next to me after his non-verbal request. I do appreciate good manners, afterall, as most surely do. I take a small bite of my cake, being mindful to not drop a single crumb. A messy guest is a disrespectful guest, as my mother would say.

After finishing my bite, I tilt my head slightly in the Marquis' direction as I spoke quietly. "Things are progressing smoothly on New Cov. And it will not be long before the news spreads. I am looking forward to it. It will be wonderful to step into the labs again." Indeed I had a few ideas in mind for projects that will need extensive testing. And it will be so thrilling to conduct them.

My eyes then follow the Marquis' gaze to the Mandalorians, one upon which I know fairly well. There is no doubt in my mind that his company and their services will once again be required at New Cov. But I will not bring attention to it at this moment. I will save it for after this meeting concludes.

It was one thing to be fashionably late.

This was another thing altogether.

The worker rebellion on Ventris IIIb had stolen her attentions for longer than she'd planned for. Such a rebellion never would have happened at all when she was running the Ministry of Inquiry.

The whole point of the Ministry was to nip such crises in the bud, before they could reach full flower. But Casteban had never mastered her light but ever-present touch. That... thing... operating in his stead... still had a long way to go.

So much had been thrown into turmoil with the exile of her son and the death of her husband.

That was the one failure of the Ministry she could lay fully upon her own shoulders, much to her shame. She hadn't watched her son carefully enough. She hadn't been there to stop him before he could cross the un-crossable lines.

Casteban had merely shrugged his shoulders and turned the exile event into an opportunity. Fair enough. But it never need have happened at all. Operations should be planned out, not improvised. There was more merit in preparing for disaster than in deftly responding to it.

The things which seemed deft in the moment were too often found to be clumsy stumbling when viewed from an objective remove.

In any event, the rebellion was finally quashed. And she could finally attend this meeting.

The shuttle landed. She disembarked, being led to the meeting hall.

But as she found her assigned place, it became clear that there was a tension in the air. A disruption of the affairs of the day that had nothing to do with her lateness to the engagement.

Vianca Mecetti sat and looked around her, wondering if this assembly was already done.
