Beneath the mask, Ember bared his teeth. Six and a half decades of life didn't sit easy on him, but the Force kept his energy up regardless. The Force, and his will. "I've heard those words before, son. I've said them. But the thing is, they're a facile generalization, like The Republic is good. Vengeance, right now, sends a clear message, and it's a message that needs to be heard so that necessary things will happen. Clearly the Republic sees it the same way, or these boys wouldn't have been killing mine.

"Ten minutes ago I accepted the apology and surrender of the Republic's interim leader. Your allies are deserting you in disgust. Your fleet is scattered and breaking. The Jedi and members of the Senate are working with the Mandalorians to arrest Supreme Commander Hadrix for war crimes. These facts," he said, "are easily verified, but verify them while getting off Nickel One. This is your final warning.

"Or we'll talk about what's not right, and you won't like what you hear."

Fury was all well and good, and Grandpa could get mad. For her part, Alec had never cared much for her aunt. But that being said, you didn't kill a Rekali and get away with it. No, sir.

The Skocha-class main battle tank, properly purchased from Tenloss at auction en masse by Clan Rekali, was a beautiful thing. Engagement range of four klicks, proton cannon strong enough to go through an Acclamator the long way-

The surface of the asteroid was covered in Republic surface-to-space artillery. Artillery weren't no Acclamator.

BAM

BAM

BAM

Good times.

Alec's Skocha came to a big hole where a Saeva Inc vessel had just entered. The tank peered over the edge of the deep pit, disruptor-dug, that went all the way down to the command centre.

The tank trundled down toward the command centre.

Objective: TWO JOBS

Thrukk lowered his cannon as they walked through the squad of soldiers that had been downed. There was plenty of groaning and movement around and it simply wasn’t the right tool for the job. His mace slapped into his hands as he kept a watchful gaze on his surroundings. There was never a need to waste power packs as far as Thrukk was concerned.

One of the wounded soldiers reached for a weapon. With a grace belied by his massive bulk, Thrukk took two quick steps and caught the soldier under the chin with an underarm sweep. The huge metal head snapped his head back beyond the survivable range of motion. Despite his size, the Houk had been forced to fight creatures much larger than himself growing up in the fighting pits of Rattaka Prime. If he hadn’t learned to be quick, he’d have been dead long ago. It was always such a pleasure to disappoint someone by not conforming to expectations he found. His recent brutal training at the hands of the Morgukai had also afforded him an edge to his speed which had been missing in recent years where his prime activity had been drinking in Hutt establishments. It had also taught him a trick or two about fighting Jedi.

One of the other soldiers started to crawl away on his belly. Thrukk strode after him and flipped him onto his back with a swift kick. One massive foot came down on the chest, pinning him in place. The soldier, who couldn’t have been in his twenties scratched at his leg and pleaded.

“Thaur thaur laddie, it is whit t is. Time tae rest,” Thrukk said in an almost gentle tone as he raised his mace high. It came down once with a sickening crack and the human’s limbs went limp. Looking around he saw no more survivors who could be a threat. Thrukk wasn’t a cruel man. He had never enjoyed those times in the pit when he’d been forced to draw out an unfortunate creature’s death, even if he had thrived on the adoration of the crowd. But he was a practical creature. They didn’t have time for prisoners and you only needed to arms and a rifle to shoot someone in the back.

“Cannie whit ye wish fur lass!” Thrukk remarked to Laguz, following down the side corridor. His HUD identified that they were now heading for the Central Hub. Seemed a good bet to him. Even if they only stole some encrypted drive the One Sith intel could probably crack them given some time. Probably worth a good few credits.

It wasn’t long before they met some resistance. Another Republic blockade of a corridor. They got the same “flechette cannon to the face” routine that the last welcome party received, making a mockery of their cover.

Objective: TWO JOBS

The group of Murder Incorporated Employees had pushed deep into the facility, the flechette cannon carried by Thrukk clearing a bloody path through the central chambers and allowing Laguz and Rigor to push up behind him. The path was a quick one, and effective. Rigor only fired his rifle twice the whole way, settling it's buttstock before gently squeezing the trigger. Two Republic soldiers fell, both of them pierced with a sudden hole where their heart would be. It was quick, precise, and far less messy than the droids partner's method.

Barricade after barricades fell to the trio, explosives and Thrukk's massive weaponry clearing a quick path through whomever would block their path.

It wasn't long before the droid held up it's hand, bringing the three mercenaries to a stop. The droid shifted slightly, checking their current location and then rechecking the system map that it had downloaded before engaging the Republic here. The droid assessed their position, then shifted to look up. It's sensors stretched out for half a moment, mapping the area above the trio. There was a slight pang within the droids sensors, and then suddenly it's faceplate turned to regard both Thrukk and Laguz.

[Above us] The curt robotic voice echoed within the bloody mass of the hallway. [The Central Intelligence HUB is located directly ten meters up through the rock. With sufficient thermal charges we will be able to break into the facility as per mission parameters]

That was of course why Rigor had carried the thermal charges in the first place. A groan escaped one of the bodies on the floor, a Republic soldier that Thrukk had not quite managed to entirely kill. Rigor pulled the Thermal charges from it's own pack, stepping onto the dying man to elevate itself slightly. Quickly the droid began to rig the Thermal charges to the ceiling.

Jacen let a grimace slip across his face for a moment. Kana was supposedly his charge and right now he was beginning to feel rather annoyed at himself. He'd already seen that conflict didn't bring out the best in her, yet here they were in the middle of a conflict. Avalore's words rang through his mind then. Avalore had been a Jedi Master much longer than he had and he could see the wisdom in her words. There was nothing that could get a person heading down the right track quite like a purpose.

Avalore Eden said:
"I need Healers, Jacen," Avalore hissed, on his heels as he primly marched his armored rear out of the bridge before she had a chance to verbally retaliate. Brow set, she eyed him as he shouldered his weapon, "and I don't have a lot of names to pull out of a hat. I didn't form the Circle of Healers to sit around and do nothing. Kana is trained in Healing, by me, I need her help and she needs to help others to remember that she's still a good person that can do good things."

"I'll go get on the Alliance network and find out what the tactical situation is and exactly that was like Avalore asked," he said to them both before looking back to Kana. "There are a lot of wounded people coming in Kana and you can help. Can you get your legs back under you?"

He turned back to a datapad in his hands, pinging a message into the Alliance network he was linked into. The reply took a few moments to come through as some staff officers decided if the request - coming form a civilian mission - was worthy of a response. "Someone vented atmo on some of the habitation stations," he confirmed. "Both sides pointing fingers, but they won't tell me any more. We should expect civilians suffering decompression sickness."

Objective: Boom.

Laguz, whose specialty were things that involved more stealth and less noise, mainly trailed behind the louder pair ahead of xem, assessing their surroundings each time they changed. Xe also kept watch of their backs with a practical pair of eyes it had grown to that end, but it proved to be completely unnecessary. The mountain of a man called Thrukk did a good enough job of trampling everything in their way until it was nothing but rubble and paté de Republic, and anyone left twitching was subject to a final mercy by Rigor.

You could almost say the merc was, well… bored.

Which is probably why xe flipped open xir datapad, fumbled around for a few seconds, and closed it again with a satisfied grin on xir face. Xe could review the recording of their bloody swath through Nickel One at a later date, maybe over dinner with a few associates that could appreciate the efficiency and swiftness of the mercenary trio.

"Roger, Rigor," xe responded simply and backed up a couple of steps along with the other two, quickly shifting to protect xir ears from the inevitable soundwave of the explosion.

A second later, the ground shook as smoke and debris blasted into the corridor, and Laguz shielded xir face from the flying particles, holding xir breath while xe waited for the dust to settle. A quick checkup of its many extremities, and then the shifter walked up to the gaping hole in the rocky ceiling, peering through the avalanche of boulders that the explosion had set off.

In the blink of an eye, TS-1 was out and in xir grasp, and xe squeezed the trigger exactly five times, pivoting ever so slightly after each shot. Five thuds followed shortly after as the recipients of the pellets collapsed, and Laguz gave a short nod to xir two companions over xir shoulder.

"We're clear for a few. Let's go."

"Fleet, maneuver down bubble sixty-degrees, all ahead full. All ships brace for impact." Abigail said once the first salvo of all their weapons were away. They were fighting blind thanks to those jammers, and they were an ammunition dependent fleet. "Cease fire, tuck us into the asteroid belt. Once the scans clear it'll mean we aren't directly visible to the enemy, we will come back to up bubble thirty-degrees, aimed at where we think the enemy formation center will be. Tactical, keep power to the mai..."

Abigail was cut off as the ship rocked violently, the return volley of only two ships, but roughly a quarter more firepower than her three combined.

"Report!" She said through the command center comm. Once the shields received contact, all harnesses secured, and that meant that helmeted heads greeted her view of the command center now. Her command chair had reduced the screens around her as her helmets HUD took over.

"Our shields are down to thirty percent, Ward is up at fifty, and Word took the worst, their shields are fluttering at 15 percent. We have hull damage along the dorsal front third of all ships...main guns still operational, emergency bulkheads are in place. We've lost contact with our front most defense guns and Word has no energy weapons in their front third. All told in the fleet, we have one hundred seven confirmed casualties, thirty four unknown." The command centers engineering officer spoke up, coming through in Abigails ear.

Abigail knew that her ships were built to take a beating, that something near eighty percent of the ship could be lost to vacuum and still be somewhat fightable, but this was supposed to be a milk run.

"Ma'am, I've still got access to Republic signals, it looks like someone has vented a hangar, there are civilian casualties." The communications officer reported in almost a whisper. If Abigail were less disciplined, she'd be ranting and raving about this so called Supreme Commander, but she was the product of her upbringing and so would do her duty, while trying to lose as few sailors as possible.

"Get a com laser to our merchantmen, they are to load up as full as they can with civilians and make for the edge of the system, the GA will pay for the expense." She ordered, silently steaming. If they are venting civilians, why am I having my people die for them... Came the thought that she would never say aloud.

"We've also got com chatter. It looks like we have some Republic escorts providing us screening elements."

"About time, patch me into whoever is commanding..." She started, but another report interrupted her.

"Screens are clearing, we have a rock between us and those jammers. I have a Republic fleet at the edge of the system ma'am."

"Good, get whoever is in command on the line..."

"Ma'am, I have an Admiral Reshmar on the line for you."

"Well, that was fast. Patch him through." One of the screens of her HUD switched to show the form of a Mon Calamari. She offered him a grim smile and a nod. "Admiral Reshmar, this is Commodore Abigail Selonna of the Galactic Alliance. I don't know if the Republic has the sentiment, but welcome to Operation FUBAR. I can offer a sit rep, but it'll do nothing to calm you." She didn't know how close the Supreme Commander kept her subordinates, but what was being done that day couldn't be condoned by any but the most corrupt.

"Ma'am, we are fully behind asteroids, what are your orders?"

"Change vector to up bubble thirty-degrees, come about to face Nickel One but keep us within the asteroid shadow until we get confirmation that the Republic is going to defend this system with us."

Vulpesen's ship maneuvered its way through the battle towards an asteroid on the outskirts, from which he had heard a call to arms. "Seems like they want us to party here." Cutting his ship into a quick right, he whipped the ship around and made his way to the back of his ship. Calling upon the force, he concealed himself with it, using the invisibility as well as a sudden blast of the engines to mask his drop onto the deck of the hanger. He took a quiet but deep breath then continued forward towards the exit. On his way however, three gas grenades would leave him, being placed into pockets and peices of armor worn by mean throughout the crowd of enemies.

It was a dangerous risk, but one that would likely pay off. Each purple cannister had a timer on it, ready to release at 0. Assuming he reached the end of the hanger, he would place the last of the canister's on a man close the the entrance, this one with a timer of three seconds. With that done, he would check to make sure his mask was secure and release the force, revealing himself from the previously invisibility. "Hi!" Acting quickly, his palms would slam into the soldier, forcing him into the crowd as each canister burst, letting out a steady stream of Rhak Skuri gas to coat the air. Time to go. Deciding not to stick around for the results(and shots from those that didn't go insane), he turned and sprinted down the hall.

Odd how path crossed over and over again.

Faith quickly routed the message to the server, and dispersed it to [member="Gir Quee"] it was now in his realm if he is able to, or arrange for it.
She then handed it to her Uncle.

Faith is then taken to her Aunt Rianna to be held until the end of the invasion, until a decision can be made what is to be done.

Yavin IV - AgriCorp Fields

Aton’s heart hurt. His dirt-ridden hand clasped at his chest and dug itself deep into his shirt as the initial wave of panic started to wash over him like an unexpected high tide. Something wasn’t right but he didn’t know what it was. His eyes scanned the horizon to see if anything of note could be seen, but there was nothing and he let his eyes stare back at the ground again as he tried to understand what was going on.

Something was broken, something that was meant to be whole. His eyes closed and for reasons still beyond him he could feel his eyes watering up. His mother came to mind and in an instant he was reminded of life as a kid. Of Mira’s teasing, of his mother’s efforts to reconciliation between the two. That no matter what happened, as long as his mother lived everything would be just fine. It would have been enough to make him smile, but that didn’t feel ‘right.’ The kid wasn’t bright with the force but that didn’t mean he couldn’t feel it. Sorrow, fear and the subtle pain of loss slowly washed over him as the tide reached its apex.

“Mom.” He grunted in pain. “No.”

The confusion was gone, the curtains of his mind were violently ripped from their poles and the floodgates were opened. Aaralyn Rekali, his mother, was dead. He didn’t know it yet, but he could feel it much like he had felt it when [member="Mira Rekali"] had split off when they were younger. Yet, unlike then there was no trace of life at all. With Mira he had felt the force, the twinism and connection between them throughout her travels. He tried to focus on the bond he shared with his mother, but it just wasn’t there.

All he would know was that he could no longer sense his mother’s life anymore.

He dropped his hoe without looking and went back to the house.

Nobody would be home but it didn’t matter. His mind had blanked out in shock, solitude was a preference at the moment.

Madness. That's what it was. The galaxy was covered in a blanket of madness. Thick as peanut butter, bitter as an ear wax pie. How could two people do this much damage in so short a time? Why was the rest of the galaxy so determined to destroy the Republic? It was something Jack vowed to look into, were he elected Supreme Chancellor. After his celebratory dinner.

Jack rose to speak. "If I may," he began, "and frankly, even if I may not because now I'm standing, I would like to propose a forty eight hour cease-fire while we all catch our breaths. I would like to call for a holoconference between representatives of this Senate, the Mandalorians, the Hutt Cartel, and whoever it is heading towards Kashyyyk. Forty eight hours to open discussions and see if we can't settle this with... those things that are meant to be sharper than any double-edged sword. You know what I mean. Those..." Jack waived his hands. "Words. Aye. That will give us time to bring yet another traitor to heel, or at the very least to show that we're trying."

Senator Sunblade had the right idea. It was just a little fact that had slipped her mind. Of course steps were being taken to try to ensure that a coup wouldn't happen again, but as always, it could never be guaranteed.

And then Senator Sparrow proposed an idea of a ceasefire that she liked very much. "I second Senator Sparrow's proposal. Violence should be a last resort and not the first." She just hoped that both sides would agree to it. "And if I may, would I be allowed to conduct my own investigation in this matter? I don't have to be the only one doing it, but I would certainly like to try."

CONCURRENTLY AT CHAZWA

Aeri Vyn was standing quietly behind Danger Arceneau during the very critical discussion between she and the Republic Senate.

Patching through her earwig, she caught an update.

"Patch it through." she would murmur quietly. What came streaming next would make her eyes widen and her lips thin.

Popo, on 23 Jan 2016 - 7:19 PM, said:
Popo said:
"Tell Danger," he said, cutting off the voice on the other end. His voice was shakey and he took a moment to gather himself before continuing. "Tell Ms. Arceneau that I'm currently indesposed. Tell her I am on Roche as of this moment and will not be attending. Tell her that the Republic has begun another war, a war with the Mandalorians.

Tell her that because of atrocities committed by Republic troops and officers ranging from rank and file to the Supreme Commander that the Mandalorians will not stop until Chazwa falls. Tell her that civilians on both sides are being killed. Tell her that. Tell her that now. And give her this."

He mutely packaged the holotapes and comm recordings gathered from the fighting, the comm recordings he'd barely paid attention to.

"The Senate must know. The corporations must know. There will be a reckoning and in my heart I feel nothing will stop it."

That wasn't even including the new message that would follow from the Republic..

In an instant, Aeri would pick up her datapad and bring up the exact message by this new Vice Chancellor. The words of her speech were then handed over for Danger Arceneau to review just as Lady Kay had finished stating the following.

Lady Kay, on 23 Jan 2016 - 5:58 PM, said:
Lady Kay said:
"Lady Danger, with all due respect to everyone in this....unfortunate conflict, the best way to cease the loss of life from both sides as well of those caught in the crossfire is for everyone to cease, desist and pull back. But that's just my opinion, not of everyone here. I know that plenty of arms dealers are salivating at the profits that they are making because of this."

"Personal opinions aside, no government in all of the Galaxy can ever give a one hundred percent guarantee that a hostile takeover would never happen again. The last time that this happened in the Republic to my knowledge was over 800 years ago. Steps right now are being taken for new leadership and no one wants history to repeat itself so soon.

The clone army is being neutralized so that they will not be forced into such atrocities again. Compensation will be made to those companies affected by the very brief seizure, I give you my word. But that cannot happen until after the conflict is over. Both sides have already lost and continue to lose with each passing moment. And the longer that the conflict takes, the longer it will be before any moving forward can happen. Democracy needs to be given a chance to take hold."

It had not been the Mandalorians that had come to war, but the clone army and republic forces under the direction of the Prime Minister.

Revisionist history at its finest.

The question was, what would Danger Arceneau do now with this information?

Mando%20Ruler_zps9x40tn48.png

Aldiel had been right.

Spot on.

So right.

Khyros Sunblade said:
"I apologize for stepping in here, I realize that I am new to my office, but I think there are indeed things that can be done to assure Ms. Arceneau that the Republic can become an entity that the Corporate Alliance can work with. We have evidence that the office that betrayed this Republic has too much power, power the people of the Republic have entrusted to this body to regulate."

"While my colleague is correct that we can not guarantee that another usurper will dupe us as Lasedri and Palpatine did, we can offer assurances that steps will be taken to curtail the power of the office of Supreme Chancellor so that no one person can wield such power again."

The Republic Senate had exploded in the wake of the news flooded in. Allegations were coming from every point, and for Danger, there was a fine tremble in her hands, white knuckle grip holding the datapad of information given to her by Aeri.

tumblr_n419g9anMv1qfk4jio8_r1_250.gif

Her lips drew to a thin line when the holographic recording of the Supreme Commander came online. Something that was little more than what could appear to be the strong arming of a world to join the Republic or face consequences.

"One of two things will happen. You will join the Republic, we will make an arrangement to transport a sustainable supply of kolto in exchange for payment at a war time markup of no more than five percent. In exchange you will receive a bonafide flotilla and mobile garrison to ensure the protection of your people and your product, and when the Sith invade, we will do what we can to fend them off."

"Or, we will leave here today with no agreement and when the Sith invade Manaan and enslave your people and strip its oceans bare of kolto, I will ignore your pleas for help and wait until the Sith are too occupied throwing your people into concentration camps before I even consider launching a counteroffensive to free your world."

Alyesa Organa said:
"I ask you reconsider your position, at all levels. The Republic is pleading with you to prevent economic starvation because they know this will happen again - it's happening now! And they're powerless to stop it.

What is to say they won't let her romp through the Corporations you are here to represent? They haven't stopped her brutual strong arming yet. The Republic is not what it once was and perhaps it never will be Ms. Arceneau."

It was then that the Senator of Kashyyyk spoke up.

Jack Sparrow said:
"If I may,"

"and frankly, even if I may not because now I'm standing, I would like to propose a forty eight hour cease-fire while we all catch our breaths.

Those..."

"Words. Yes. Words. That will give us time to bring yet another traitor to heel, or at the very least to show that we're trying."

Then the panel went to Lady Kay.

Lady Kay said:
"I second Senator Sparrow's proposal. Violence should be a last resort and not the first."

"And if I may, would I be allowed to conduct my own investigation in this matter? I don't have to be the only one doing it, but I would certainly like to try."

However, by now, Danger had a steely look in her green eyes. Her chin rose, and there was a slight narrowing. While she appeared to be the perfect picture of decorum, hot waves of emotion would roll and crash under that cordial mask. Aldeil's words of caution and bearing came to mind. Something that she had to maintain, even if she wanted to lash out.

"Ladies and gentlebeings," her voice had dropped an octave, and that honeyed rasp that would normally greet in invitation would roll out in a throaty rasp that begged no quarter.

Her grip grew tighter upon her datapad.

"I am given assurances that none of the actions against corporations had been done without Republic sanction, yet there is this..." a gesture would point towards the message that had been displayed by Lady Organa.

"These are the leaders of the Galactic Republic, Senator Kay." her voice was grave, terse. "With the recent events, I am sure you can understand my hesitation to take words at face value. All the more if the alleged acts of war from the Supreme Commander are found to have merit."

If there was one thing Danger despised the most, was the killing of innocents. That magnificent chest of her rose as she took a deep, steadying breath. The way she emphasized alleged said that she believed anything but.

"I, along with the entirety of the Corporate Alliance, will be conducting our own investigation Senators."

And they would be thorough.

"Forty-Eight Hours," she agreed, but the glitter in her green eyes said that they were not done yet. Popo wouldn't have lied to her; and she knew well what it would mean if this was true. If the Republic Supreme Commander had done as Popo said, then it wasn't just Arceneau Trade and the Corporate Alliance that the Republic would have to worry about.

It was the entire galaxy itself.

It was time to move. Calls came in that there was a fighter situation going on, and Cuan nodded. Lids tightened as he grabbed the controls to his X-Wing tighter. The engines were kicking out all the thrust they could hold and Baller was navigating a course throught he asteroids. The pilots were going to meet one another in combat and he could not wait. “Keep up, Airs.” He called out to his squadron. The mission would go as they always did, they’d break up and take the fight to the enemy.

Pulling around the last asteroid, Cuan nodded and gave the triple tap over the comlink. Time to go to work.

“We see them, lead. Breaking off.” Legionnaire Five announced, leading Flight Two, the NPCs were going to go run into the rest, while Baller was trying to clean up the comms. Find the leader, take them out and work their way down. Kunn had been training for this his whole life.

Hell, hologames were the same. Knock down the leader, then its just a mop up situation. Rolling the fighter to avoid a laser blast, the blackandyellowblackandyellowblackandyellow X-Wing started to get good tone on a fighter and Cuan started shooting, before looping around and getting in behind a fighter when Baller announced a freighter near by.

Good. Next target.

Firing a missile, the Sullustan pulled up and sighted the priority target.

With his arm wounded and his weapon destroyed it seemed the Mandalorian was now at the disadvantage. Jaccer would've expected any normal soldier to give themselves up by now or perhaps even take their own life. This was no normal soldier however, no, it was a Mandalorian. The sheer willpower and skill would allow him to continue fighting with little more than his own flesh and bones. Even with the extreme power and speed of his opponent, the Republic soldier was confident he would win this battle. Not only did he still have a weapon but both of his arms had not been damaged, more than what could be said for Vahn.

The punches and other upper body attacks could be easily blocked due to his relatively uninjured arms. Although the attacks on his legs would not be as easy to evaded or blocked. Many kicks from the Mando would connect with his shrapnel filled leg, each blow transferring a great amount of kinetic energy and causing Jaccer wince in pain every time. After this combination of hand-to-hand combat attacks, Vahn Fett would undoubtedly be feeling the effects of tiredness which may cause him to slow down slightly or pause to regain his breath. Either way, it was time for Jaccer to begin an offensive.

The first attack would be a barbaric display of knife attacks in almost every direction. It may have looked terrifying but the aim was no to cut the other man into pieces. The plan was to encourage the Mandalorian to raise his arms into a defensive position, allowing Jaccer to follow up with a dirty and powerful kick at the groin of Vahn. "This time stay down! I'm warning you!" The Galactic Republic Major would shout to his counterpart before rubbing his injured leg in an attempt to regain some feeling.

Lusk felt it. That sinking pit in your heart when innocent people died for no good reason at all. He could see the bodies of innocents drifting towards him suffocating on the vacuum of space until they died a horrible and lonely death. The man didn't want to believe it, but reports were coming in that the Supreme Commander had ordered it. She had ordered the deaths of civilians knowing that venting mandalorians wouldn't do a damn thing but put them out in the cold for a few minutes before working their way back inside. Any army worth its own salt would have suits with an oxygen supply and the Mandalorian people have been doing this for a long time despite that hippy phase they had.

Lusk looked up and gently pulled down the body of a woman, some young blonde dock worker that looked like she was no older than twenty. Lusk's heart broke as he held the woman's cold body. Her hair floated in various directions in the vacuum and a cold rage washed over the man, rage that would honor his father Preliat. He and his men had lost so many defending the Republic, they had lost hundreds and thousands of brothers in this war and this was what they defended. This was the Republic they were taught to be loyal to.

The clone put his helmet against the woman's forehead and with his red swollen eyes tears began to roll down from them. Other clones began to gather around him and place hands on Lusk's shoulder and back. This was a war zone but even the mandalorians would respect and understand what had just happened.

"No." Lusk said with hatred in his voice.

"Find me the Supreme Commander, I don't care what Republic law says about the courts. We get answers, she pays for whatever just happened. Full retreat back to the station, any one Ali sends for you. Kill them." Lusk said with a cold determination to his voice.

Looking at the woman's face he reached down to her shirts left breast pocket and grabbed her name tag. It read "Katrin" it would be a reminder of what happens when corrupt people were put in charge of things. It would be a reminder to never forget, and never forgive this. With a tearful eye the man let go of Katrin and let her body float through the void once more.

"Keira, Dish, I don't expect any of you to stand with me on this. But we're going after the commander, push back to the station." Lusk said with anger laced in his tone.

Now there was only one more thing left to do. Contact the incoming mandalorians.

"This Commander Lusk of the clone army of the Republic. My forces are moving towards Nickel One to remove any loyalist to the supreme commander and herself, engage us if you must but we will not fire on you. Someone has to pay for this." With that Lusk looked towards the station.

The jetpack on his back sparked to life and soon himself and the the other clones that had landed were flying off towards Nickel One to get answers and find some form of redemption in the wake of the people lost.

James hated this massive ship stuff. He would have given a lot to be on one of those fighters or light freighters in motion across the field. They were so graceful, cunning and fierce. That was the kind of fighting he enjoyed. Not this standing on the deck, watching the cannons blast and giving orders. But a good commander and a good privateer needed to stand watch and be able to see and hear everything in his command. Several turbolazers on the hulls were fliring away, clearing the larger debris out into managable chunks to be tossed aside with tractor beams. It was a beautiful if not destructive display.

So far he had the flank covered, no one had come to attack or broadside the Republic fleet. He shrugged. Did he agree with this ideology? No. But damn it he was here. And they were paying for it. His cigarette began to huff smoke wildly, "Keep a scan for civilian bases, and alert me if they get in danger."

"Yes sir," said one of the officers.

"Sir the PulseFire is detecting a cruiser on a collision course with one of the nearby settlements," piped up another.

"What side is it on?"

"Can't tell, sir, it appears the transponder is in active."

James let out grunt, there were only two reasons a transponder wouldn't be active either damage to the point of killing all on board because of the vacuum of space--or pirates and criminals. "Hull integerty, time till impact, distance, and engine status."

"Hull ingegerty at 60%, distance is half a kilometer, engines appear non-responsive. Bearing is 30-Mark-120. Time till impact is 45 seconds and closing."

James looked and could see it, partially eclipsed by the flying asteroids around them, being shattered and moved away. The burning hull showed no distinguishing signs. Were they republic? Were they Mandalorians? They were most likely pirates, smugglers, or possibly slavers looking to capture those left behind. He didn't really know. But the people were in danger, he knew this and this was all that. "Life aboard?"

"127, sir."

James had two choices; watch the civilians die or destroy the ship and kill those onboard, who would die anyway.

"Concentrate all fire on it. I want that ship gone."

"Yes sir, concentrating fire," he turned to the console, "All units engage, I repeat, you are go to engage."

A dazzling display of plasma matter arced across space, in many peices, many beams, battering the hull of the ship. James watched as the flames grew worse, stronger, and more intense, until--

The fire annihilated all that remained and it burst into a shattered display of shrapnel. James pursed his lips and let out a sigh, he felt the lives lost scream out in terror one final moment before being snuffed out. But now was not the time to sit here and remorse over things. "Begin converging on the enemy position, give me a link to our other commanders."

"Yes sir."

He heard the cackle of the line open before giving a cheery greeting, "Allo, mates, ye miss a pirate like me?" he let out a long stream of smoke before continuing, "We are standing by for orders."

Ordo took his datapad and sent the message as his niece asked then gave her a sad smile.

"Go to my ship and head for my homestead." he said quietly, "The coordinates are in the NaviCom. Tell Rianna what happened. She'll know what to do."

With that he sat down his data pad and removed his combat pack from his back. His eyes still glistened from the supressed anger he felt for the atrocious acts he had witnessed. His pack popped open and he removed his lightsaber which he clipped on his belt, an act he said he would never perform again. Then with a shaking hand he touched the object he had been intending to pass on to another generation. It had been the face of his darkest days and it would Now be the face that bled the Republic of its wickedness. The helmet rose in his iron grasp, the moment of hesitation gone, and he once again donned the mask of mand'alor the ultimate.

He pushed the pack on the floor and took his CM-fragstorm from his shoulder then cocked it with a rapid "chuck chuck" before he walked out with not so much as another word. He exited into the corridor and began advancing toward the Republic troops.

Blasters sounded from ahead and a Republic trooper rounded the corner for cover.

Boom!

The heavy Shatterguns bucked in his heavy hands as the trooper was sent off his feet back the way he had come. "Chuck Chuck" was the only sound the Mandalorian made as he fired at another, and another. They would have no quarter here, not today.

Her knees were clutched to her chest in her seat, as tears stung her eyes. She trusted her father. She trusted he made the best choice he could make, but she felt the terror, the pain, the screams, as over a hundred lives were snuffed from existence by her fathers decision. She couldn't understand why he had to make that choice, but she had to trust that it was the best choice in that situation. She would sob silently, face covered by her hair and her knees. She didn't want to distract, especially at this crucial point in the mission. Jess knew her father was needed, his attention needed away from her, on the battle field. Especially if they were all to survive. Terror gripped her, and she suddenly realized....

We might not make it through this.....

She fished in her jacket pocket for her pack of cigarettes, lighting one up no sooner had it hit her lips. It would not take long for it to be puffed to the filter, before fishing out a second.... and a third........

As the Skocha began descending the shaft, something odd popped up on sensors. Odd and alarming. Alec watched as a crippled cruiser-sized vessel, though not part of the fleet deployments, began lurching toward the asteroid city. It appeared a collision was inevitable. She had a bad feeling about this.

But wait! Here came a fleet, one of several. She knew the Mando fleets and this wasn't it, which meant they were on the Republic's side. And those were Shadow-class vessels, and a Tenloss ship -- they had loads of tractor beams and were only half a klick from the deadly derelict. She and her tank crew exchanged quietly relieved commentary as they realized they no longer needed to dive for the core to get to safety.

And then, rather than use about forty tractor beams, the Republic allies -- all larger ships -- fired on the vessel with everything. It blew up.

Alec and her tank crew descended into the asteroid, after transmitting what they'd witnessed to [member="Captain Larraq"]. He would know what to do.
