Capitalist with a Gun: Mandalorian Invasion of Roche (Mando vs Republic)

Location: Modified Champion-class Star Destroyer Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Roche System
Allies: [member="Reshmar"] | [member="James Justice"] | [member="Abigail Selonna"] | [member="Faith Balor-Organa"]
Enemies: [member="Captain Larraq"] | [member="Ali Hadrix"]

"Admiral [member="Reshmar"], men like us don't create the messes, we just clean them up," quipped Gir, scrolling over the seemingingly endless amount of reports headed towards his proverbial desk.

Or try to, anways...those Mando ships look like they might take some doing...While the blonde man had come far being the young idealist who had signed up for the naval academy, there was still a part of him that longed for the simplicity of black and white morality. To a degree, that sort of morality had been incubated in the military. One couldn't simply stand there and ponder if it was morally right to shoot someone while the other party tried to kill you. No, philosophizing about shades of gray morality wasn't for the military man. It wasn't his place. Gir decided that if he was the gun, the hand that pointed and fired him was the politicians. Not that he trusted all of them, but when he was off the battlefield, he began to know which ones to trust more than others. Former senator and acting political head [member="Faith Balor-Organa"] was chief among those whose judgement he trusted. He idly read over her transmissions once more as he considered how to make that desire turn into reality. He quickly typed up a response assuring the senator that his troops would take SCO Hadrix into custody.

He spared a brief glance sideways at Captain Lod, who was busy trying to figure out how the system had ended up with dozens of new mass shadows, and moreover, trying to figure out a route to navigate around them and the existing mass shadows. It was an awkward, stunted process as the ships lurched from realspace to hyperspace and back again over and over. What normally would have taken the republic fleet one jump was taking over a half dozen, and the jumping into the battlefield wasn't finished yet...

He toggled his headset comlink to the private channel he shared with the current commander of the 117th, Colonel Voors.

"Colonel Voors?"

An awkward period of silence wafted through the earpiece before a surprisingly mellow voice began to flow through.

"What can I do for you sir?"

"I've been charged by the Senate leadership with detaining our SCO."

"And down the chain it passes," mumbled the gray-haired man, "I'll get a team set up. I assume that you're working on a way to get there?"

Gir nodded out of habit while fully realizing that the other man couldn't see him, "We'll get you to her, or find a way to."

"Roger sir."

The lines of hyperspace travel finally stopped as the heavier elements of Task Force Obi-Wan Kenobi finally entered the battlefield not too far away from Admiral [member="Reshmar"]'s force, but still farther away from Commodore [member="Abigail Selonna"]'s allied GA force and the lighter elements of his fleet. As they reverted into realspace, Gir turned his attention to the tactical situation. Captain Lod was already in motion, ensuring that the shields were being properly raised and oriented, that weapons were charging, and everyone was at action stations. The only unusual omission from the standard operating procedures was the lack of starfighters launching. He typed in a few commands into his console, noting that the starfighters were prepped to launch.

A simple glance at the tactical map informed him that launching the starfighters now probably wasn't the brightest idea yet. We're farther away than I'd like...still...we can get moving...Gir tapped a command that would signal his ship's engineers to fire up his ship's Mandalorian Hypernautics-built overdrive engines; an irony not entirely lost on the man. The Obi-Wan Kenobi jetted forward, flanked on either side by the Swift Liberty and Audacious, with the Tornado trailing behind the star destroyer's wake. They were unusually fast for such a heavy group, yet Gir knew that the speed alone was not likely to surprise the Mandolorian commander. The comparatively slower Deliverance and Iron Knight plodded behind the fast trio to provide a rearguard for the group to fall back on, as well as long-range fire and starfighter support.

He began to type and issue other commands through the console, instructing the gunnery crews manning the ship's four Erebus-class Jamming Arrays to divide their attention on the two Concordia dreadnaughts currently targetting the joint GA/GR ships nearest the enemy formation. Gir flipped to his console's weapon's screen. Looks like munitions are properly prepared...now to just get in range...A new voice, that of [member="James Justice"] began to enter his headset. Gir spared a glance at his tactical map as he flipped his comlink's frequency to communicate on a private channel with the privateer.

"Captain Justice, I'd say something about showing up on time, but I'm the late on here, it would appear," murmured Gir, "proceed on your course to join forces with us. We'll give you bonus credits if you can capture any of the Mandalorian vessels here as well, but especially if you can capture or destroy the Jahaatir-class EW frigates that they've deployed here."

As she paced herself out in front of Jack's freighter, she too had seen it all. Felt it. The fear, anguish and the sheer... emptiness of so many lifesparks being extinguished at once clawed at her focus, threatening to distract her. And distract her it did for several precious seconds. Her heart raced, and Anija's grip on the control stick loosened, causing her Bes'uliik to drift several meters to port. Even cloaked, it wouldn't stop the damage if she were to impact anything near her. And she came perilously close to doing just that. It was only the quick response of her AI that saved her. Her senses screamed a warning at the same time the warning alarms trilled in her helmet. Instantly, ANNE fired the Bes'uliik's maneuvering thrusters in an attempt to keep the vessel on course.... and away from the freighter.

Cursing, Anija reached out to kill the alarms as the screeching jolted her back to the present. Gripping the control stick hard enough to turn her knuckles white, Anija struggled to correct. ANNE had done a reasonably good job, considering. But, that didn't mean she'd let Anija forget it. Her cool voice came through, almost whispering in Anija's ear. "You should be more careful, Field Marshal. These pilots of yours might think you're losing your touch."

Anija bristled, and had to stop herself before she cursed out the AI. "Turn your scanners to the black around us, ANNE. and then tell me what you see." The voice in her ear fell silent for several moments, and when it returned, it was hushed. "Scans indicate...frozen water vapor... and bodies among the debris. Analysis of the clothing and body composition.... indicates a mix of Mandalorians, Verpine, and scientists from several different species. The presence of the water vapor suggests that the hangars aboard Nickel One were vented of atmosphere."

Her throat constricted, and Anija whispered... "Yes..." There was a sudden deafening silence between them, which was broken as she heard Jack's voice in her ears. Instantly, she rolled her fighter through a tight loop to follow, and after a moment, kicked in the booster for a few seconds to catch up. it wasn't often that she used it, and she knew it had a limited number of uses. The effectiveness of it and it's boosting power decreased with each use.

As she raced to catch up with the freighter, her eyes narrowed. A new contact had just appeared on her sensors as it rounded one of the asteroids closer to where Jack was. Yanking the stick to port, Anija rolled the fighter sharply towards the approaching Murian transport vessel. As she did, a scatter of contacts appeared on her scanner as they rounded an asteroid off to her starboard. A flight of X-wings. Frowning, Anija took a deep breath and let it out. Another.

She knew she couldn't hope to intercept the lasers from the transport. But the missile.... Another breath and she rested her finger on the firing stud as she watched for a moment. Green lasers flashed everywhere between the three groups. She rolled her fighter again to avoid some stray lasers. One of the new fighters - the black and yellow ones - spat bolts of green light towards one of Anija's own flight. One of them hit, and sparks shot from the fuselage. For several moments, the bes'uliik slowed, rolling sharply away from the attack as the pilot frantically worked to close off the damaged section. An instant later, it exploded.

For Anija's part, she took that moment to act. Instantly she dropped the cloak and breathed out. Twin bolts lanced out of her ion cannons towards the missile which was racing up on Jack's freighter. One hit it's mark and the missile exploded into a shower of sparks and shrapnel... mere meters shy of the dorsal hull of Jack's freighter. Instantly, Anija rolled her fighter away before looping back around and ducking underneath Jack's freighter for a moment before she popped up and unleashed bots of crimson death in the direction of the black and yellow X-wings.

((Just for the OOC record, I still really don't know where you other three are in regards to the current firefight. If ya'll could let me know in PM or something that'd be much appreciated! :) ))

O'Connor and O'Riley were both ready on each side, their spun up cannons unleashing a flurry of bolts in the directions of the hostiles that suddenly realized they were there. The mix of settling smoke from the grenades and the blue bolts almost caused for a frenzy to even see through, but their HUD's helped greatly. The marines with each team slipped into cover, taking pot shots at anyone that was gutsy enough to try and shoot the Assault specialists, constantly exchanging fire with the Opposition at hand.

"Get some! Get some! Get some!" O'Riley could be heard through the communications system, doing his usual share of smack talking towards an enemy that couldn't even hear him. The entire team knew that he had a grin from ear to ear behind that helmet of his.

"Young! Get me a broadcast to the mando's at the end of the corridors!" The Sergeant spoke up to his intel specialist, looking to his side as an enemy bolt whizzed directly past his head. He was sure out of range from accurate strikes from this distance, but that didn't mean he wasn't vulnerable to stray or skilled shots.

"Aye Sir, you'll be on in six. By the way boss, security chief called in..He's got ten available men if needed back working in the messhall."

"Sounds good, we'll call if needed." He stated, leaning back over the rather fragile table and leaning the cannon one last time onto the makeshift barricade. He'd spin the weapon up, sliding it across the edge of the table as his finger tugged on the trigger, sending one last spray of rounds down the hallway. They'd need more time to load up his own weapon, but luckily his other two teammates had fully loaded Z-6's. "O'Connor, O'Riley, pull the rest of your men up. Keep the pressure on them! Keep them at bay long enough for me to be able to send a message!"

Following these orders, the two marines each that had been left at each barricade quickly scurried up to back up the two assault teams, with the two commandos in the lead, still spraying away. One of the marines took a hit on the shoulder, groaning as he began to move deeper into his cover. The Republic marines were strong, that's for certain. The same man that had taken a bolt straight to his shoulder and currently had a continuous burning into his shoulder plate was lifting his rifle and firing towards the enemy as he reached for his cover. He was proud of his men, he didn't want to see any more of them die.

Valkren was prepared to send a message, offering the Mandalorians one more chance to turn away before he threw the rest of his forces at them in one last attempt to push the rest of them from the area of the Main Central Hub. If they denied it, so be it, he'd take them on. The Republic still had the upper hand for the most part, he could see everything they did through his Intel specialist Young, he was connected directly to the camera system in the area, so he knew who was coming where. Perks of being in command of protecting a facility during an attack, you got most of the toys.

"Hey Mic, catch." Valkren said, keeping one hand on his cannon and sitting down, using the other hand to roll his own two thermal dets toward him. "Set up one as a charge at the door of the messhall. Keep it hidden, you keep the trigger."

"And the other one?" He asked as he let his rifle hang from it's sling, lifting the two in his gloved hands.

Valkren turned back, spinning the weapon up one last time to get ready to finish off his ammunition for the big gun. "How's your throwing arm?"

The bounty hunter was tired, and weak. The commander still had his knife, and his hands, yet Fett still persevered and was confident he would win.

"I only really need one hand to defeat you, commander."

He felt confident, and replaced the need to follow up with an attack with a ducking technique. This would not only let Fett regain strength and energy, but let the commander use up all of his energy, weakening the commander, whereas gaining energy himself.

Kay figured as much. People tend to assume that if one person in the Republic does something that they don't like, that the Senate and all of the Republic approved and sanctioned such action. Well that was a false assumption. Many of her own actions that have kept her out of Republic space and in Hutt Cartel territory was sanctioned only by herself. No one in the Republic knew about it until after the fact. So most of the conflicts in recent years that the Republic had were unknown to her. Oh she did go to the capital at times to vote or question bills that were set to be passed, so it wasn't as though she didn't earn her right to remain in her seat. Kay just had other priorities as well.

She couldn't help but shrug her shoulders a bit as Danger wanted her own investigation. "As I said, others are free to investigate as well, I won't be the only one. I have never met most of the individuals involved, nor do I know much about them. So I plan on at least going into this with an open mind. I won't be bringing out the pitchforks or hold any kind of grudge or prejudice. I only seek the truth and the reasons behind every action." And at least she had a good lawyer in case anything went to trial and she felt the need to defend or prosecute individuals on both sides of the conflict.

Two Jedi, a Mando, and a Hutt...if that didn't sound like a bad joke waiting to happen, Nefertari didn't know what did.

Finally she had reunited with Zak. A girl not much older than he seemingly tried to shield him until the Nautolan addressed Nef and waved
"Good to see you again, Zak."

Her padawan's new friend, at least that's what she thought the girl was, introduced herself; a note of distrust on her voice.

"He found the reactors. We needed a place to go that was safe. Which definitely id not the hangars. They are either vented to vacuum or people are fighting inside them."

Nefertari bowed to the girl
"Well met, young one, though I wish it were under better circumstances. A safe place sounds simply amazing right now. Lead the way."

Just as she was about to fall in with the ragtag band; Nefertari dropped in pain as she felt a disturbance in the force. The Republic had vented the artificial atmosphere in one of the hangars, leaving innocent people slain in a brutal manner. This was soon interrupted by the noise of gunfire nearby.

Zak's master fought past her feeling
"We must hurry. Danger grows closer the longer we stay here."

If foes assailed them, then the Countess of Rosedge would defend. Sometimes in life, sithspit happens that you don't want to deal with. And yet, you have to.

Arkrad, had finished loading his grenade launcher, and then gave the wounded mandalorian a nod. He moved down the corridor, and took his pace, whilst katalyn and other mandalorian kept firing. The other mandalorian was still heading back to hanger to bring up supplies, he would not take much longer. This time Arkrad did aim down the left hand corridor, he jumped across the gap, and as he did he fired three rounds aimed at the republic troops down the corridor, POP, POP, POP. She waited for them to landed and explode, when they did she would take aimed shots down the corridor too. The explosion would distract them for split second, so would the other mandalorian.

Then they came BANG, BANG, BANG, as she heard the first explosion she span out with both pistols, and tried to take down the nearest of the republic troops with a volley fire from her both her pistols. The other did the same with his repeating ripper rifle, as she did flipped back behind cover after firing a volley, she felt a heavy knock on her shoulder. She looked at it as she reloaded her pistols, it was just service hit. Her armour was smoking a bit though, that will hurt tomorrow she thought to herself. She knew it would not belong before more troops came to their position, she also knew even if they lost the battle, it mattered not, as long as [member="Captain Larraq"] won the fleet engagement, this and nickel one where just a side show. As eventually the republic would just be starved out, and that thought comforted her.

As guns where reloaded, she began firing pot shots down the corridor again, this siege point would last awhile longer yet.

Thrukk liked explosions. For those glorious few moments he was no longer the loudest, most obnoxious thing on the battlefield. His laughter rang down the tunnel as the dust settled. The climb into the facility was not the most pleasant experience. Especially as being so large, a fall back down that jagged hole could be fatal for the Houk.

The shapeshifter was already shooting by the time he arrived, grumbling under his breath. He pulled a small scanner from his pack, giving it a slap when it refused to switch on. Damn milspec kit was always so flaky compared to civvie gear. On the plus side it was generally rugged and secure.

The screen showed a criss-cross network of dots. More and more dots appeared until it was like a grid. Thrukk traced them with his finger, looking for where the power signatures formed a vertex.

“Server room is a one fluir up, deid aheid!” he called. Well, at least it would be nice to bask in some good old air conditioning for a while.

The words of this Jedi were lacking, but the widower held his tongue, leaving it to the Field Marshal to speak - there was nothing that he could have said that the elder man didn't say already, in effect. And so, beneath his mask, his eyes remained trained on the Jedi and would have left smouldering holes in his skull, were it possible to do as such.

He stood straight, hand over wrist in front of him, and primed to act should it be necessary - and he believed it to be necessary, as his wrist was tightly in his grip. The thought of embedding a blade deep in the centre of the Jedi's forehead was only one of many considerations passing through his mind at the time, while listening to Ember's response. That he had been swift with the Republic soldiers could be considered a kindness, depending on your point of view.

Sabrina know in her new body going under the name Sabine, felt a presence that she had not felt in a while. Then a few grenades went off, she realised the hunt was on, and once more she was the hunter. This made her smile, she been coped in an office getting others to do her bidding for her for too long, she saw which way he went she could see him in the force. She began to run after him, while she gave chase she always stayed a little behind so not to be caught unaware. Her adrenaline began to flow, she was truly alive again, dying was the best choice she had ever made in her life. No one knew she was sith, all they knew she was force user loyal to Mandalorians, and that made her happy.

She was scanning his armour as she moved trying to workout what it was, so she would know it`s strength and weakness before she attacked him. Force sight taught to her by her old friend, came in very useful. He was wearing a light weight armour unlike her, she was suited and booted for war. She smiled it was getting time to reach him, she knew he soon feel her running after him, and then they would fight. Her plan was going to be simple straight to the point in his belly.

Dashing through the halls. Away from pissed off foes. Not even knowing where to go! I think I sense someone. Not the kind to have a gun. Oh look I've-found-her-there-she-is! lets-hope-that-I-wont-miss! Vulpesen chuckled softly as the life day tune crossed his head, but upon seeing [member="Sabrina Kotass"], his mirth took a turn. With a decidedly darker force signature, she certainly didn't look like a friendly, especially the way she was staring him down. Not to mention, she bore herself in a way average from your usual foot-soldier, and quite familiar as well. Focusing himself on her presence in the force, he smiled and walked towards her, the grin concealed under his mask. "I don't suppose you're here to surrender."

Sabine smiled under her face mask as she saw him, he asked I don`t suppose you`re here to surrender? She politely replied No, and then summoned the force to her legs. She could feel the force strength her, and she leapt at him. As she did she lit up one half of her saberstaff, and fired at him with her wrist blaster PAAPAAPAPA. She hoped he would light up his lightsaber, so she could attack it, with her wrist blaster as she came down. Her hart was pulsing with excitement, she was finally on the right side of a war. She could fight and win without having to lose sleep again, she was so happy.

The thing about hope was, it didn't always work It was a grim reality even for him. But sometimes... you got far more than you hoped for. Vulpesen merely smiled wider as the bolts came forward, scorching the coat but doing no real damage. Such was why he had chosen this armor, having it specialty made to repel the weapons of his most common enemies. "My turn." He outstretched his hand and while he never drew his main saber, Sabrina would find four cylinders's flying at her, all igniting with different colors as they made their way towards the target. He may not have drawn his primary lightsaber, but throwing four of his extras at her with the fierce. That he would do.

Laser and ion cannon fire from the Kessel's Pride raked across the Osprey's bow shields. While the muurian transport was fast for its size, it wasn't face enough to evade the retaliatory fire from the mandalorian ship. Travot felt his feet vibrate as the ship briefly shook under the impacts of the shots hitting the freighter's shields. The cockpit lighting flickered briefly and the jedi heard Rami let out a few choice words in the flowing tongue of cerean. While the man couldn't understand the language, Rami's tone was telling enough to Travot that it wasn't good. Travot abruptly slammed the yoke forward, taking the freighter in a dive around the circumference of one of the belt's smaller asteroids in an attempt to briefly evade enemy fire.

"What's wrong?" asked Travot.

"I don't know if it's us pushing the ship too hard, or if they got a lucky hit through our shields...but the automatic bulkhead seals have activated...system is reporting signs of minor hull stress."

Travot flipped several switches as he brought the freighter around to jump back into the dogfight. Not the worse thing ever...but that's not good either...He spared a glance away from their flight path.

"Well, can you fix it?"

"Our R3 unit is on it...but it'll take a few minutes...if it's fixable..."

Travot suppressed the urge to grumble as he tilted his yoke to the right, sending the Osprey in a starboard loop towards the Kessel's Pride. The ship's inertial compensators fought the g-force on his body from the tight maneuver, but still Ravenna could feel the blood flow in his body become irregular. He squinted as he focused on aligning his guns on the silhouette of the modified 720 freighter. He squeezed the trigger again, this time joined by the upper turret gunner. Five streams of green laser fire surged towards the enemy freighter to illuminate it in deadly emerald light.

As she lept up in the air, he began lighting up and throwing lightsabers at her. Fortunatly he could controll them, as force user can only controll one thing at once. The first two glanced of her armour, she felt one hit handle first and then bounced harmlessly of her. The next hit blade first, though she felt the heat blade, without force to guide it, soon went to ground. Leaving a small smouldering smell, from phrik weave. The next one misses her, and went under her legs. Then last one caught her on her shoulder, but while she felt heat of the blade, it did not penetrate the phrik plate armour, she was wearing. As she landed, she shunted her lightsaber towards his stomach, and used her powers of telekinesis to pull the pin on one of force breaker grenades. Then looked him in the eye, I used her mind control techniques, to tell him to breath. She had no doubt they would not work for long, but she did not need it too, she just needed him to breathy once. Then she could start ripping him apart.

The meeting room adjacent to the offices of Senator Jack Sparrow smelled of wood, earth, air, and time. Tapestries of nature scenes, painted on thin strips of wood and hung from delicate frames seeming to belie their large-handed Wookiee heritage lined the walls. The floor, long meeting desk, and chairs were of wood polished to a glassy shine. Wooden tankards were placed on the table in front of each comfortable chair, and platters of meats, breads, cheeses, and pastries sat strategically around the table, encouraging polite requests.

"Who's going to come?" Jack asked [member="Shywooshk"], his new bodyguard and Junior Senator. "What odds will they lay?" He sighed. "If I didn't know any better, mate, I'd swear the universe was telling me to pull out of the race for Supreme Chancellor. I mean, look at the state of the Republic! No one trusts us. And fair enough, too. We've done more to cripple ourselves than the Mandos, Sith, Techno Union and Primeval combined." The former pirate smiled darkly. "Good thing I think the universe is stupid, and not worth listening to."

Vulpesen twitched softly and and simply breathed. Though whoever told her that he could only control one weapon at a time was to say the least, wrong. All four sabers launched up from the air, them swirling at her limbs, attempting to sever them from her body. Taking note of the various places, he aimed the weapons at her joints and underarms where all that protected her was the mesh that would likely be quite a bit weaker. As for the saber aimed at his stomach, he made a quick swipe with his free arm, using the songsteel of his bracers to bat the weapon aside.
