Change of heart

“Yes.” He said simply. “I’m going to grant her the status of Jedi Knight.” As her master, Hawk felt that he had the right to do that. “Maddie so wanted to be a Jedi. So she will be in death.” He moved to stand beside Maddie. He reaches over to cut off Maddie’s padawan braid. “I grant you the status of Jedi Knight. You faced your death with no fear. I’m honor to have been your Master and Dad” he says breaking down crying. Tears free flowing down his face, He leans in and kisses her on the forehead. “ Goodbye sweetheart, until we meet again.“

He moves away clutching the blonde braid in his hand. He allows Kay to say her goodbyes. He had overheard the funeral director talking to Kay. When it was time he would pull the lever to lower Maddie to be cremated.

After Kay finish saying her goodbyes. Hawk gave one last look to his daughter than he pull the lever. The platform slowly lower down into crematorium. Hawk silently said the Jedi code to himself. He hope that it would bring him peace. It didn’t. All he felt was sadness, angry, and lost.

He turn to Kay and forced a grin on his face. “ I could use a good drink. Let’s go the bar.”

The bar did not have the same amount of folks as it did the night before. Rekha looked around to see if there were 'familiar' faces. So far no one was around that had been there. She questioned whether than was good or bad.

She knew she could also be over thinking this in so many different ways. Cautious she walked to the spot that she had occupied towards the back. She set the three bottles on the table and waited.

The big man came out and slid into her booth grabbing a bottle as he went, sliding a chip across the table. "Looks real"

Rekha laughed, as she slid the chip back to her palming it as she waited. "A lot of good people made that bottle."

"A lot of good people will drink it"

She nodded, "Where's your friends" he asked.

"Friends?"

"Yep..the goth and the guy."

"ohhh, don't know don't care...my job is movement."

He laughed, "Drink?"

Rekha shook her head no, "nah...got to be sharp today. Moving out. What about you?"

He lifted a bottle, "I'll be thinking of friends and enjoying a drink"

Rekha sat back, "Well deal is a deal"

She relaxed some she could head out in a few minutes.

Kay watched with tears in her eyes as [member="Hawk Solo"] cut off Maddie's braid and said his goodbyes. She couldn't help but be affected by it, especially after all that she had been through. Witnessing the 'deaths' of her own children and husband, being forced to watch it was more than she could bear. A large part of her died that day. She saw the Galaxy and life in a different light. There was only pain and suffering. Nothing more.

And now it was her turn. Kay nodded to Hawk and stepped forward, caressing Maddie's forehead and down to her cheek. "You were the best thing to have ever happened to your Dad. Thank you for showing him true happiness. And joy...Farewell, dear Maddie." Oh this was hard. It was so terribly hard.

She wiped at her own tears with the back of her hand and stepped back to allow Hawk to lower Maddie down. Kay couldn't watch that part, she just closed her eyes and wrapped an arm around her friend while he silently whispered.

Once all was said and done, Kay nodded at his request. "Alright. Let's go." She let him lead the way, of course. Right now she was just there for support.

Hawk place his daughters buried in his jacket. It should be safe there until he can get to the ship. “ thank you for coming it meant a lot to me. “ He says to Kay as they leave the funeral parlor.

The bar they went to yesterday wasn’t that far. They could walk it. It only took them a few minutes and they were there. He opens the door to allow Kay to go first. He didn’t plan to stay at the bar too long. Just long enough to get a few drinks.

He walked in behind K. And that’s when he saw her again. The mysterious beautiful woman with no name. Funny to see her again. Must be fate. Rehka was sitting in the back again. He nods his head to her as he makes his way to the bar. “I hope they have Corellian whiskey here.”

Rekha was enjoying her drink when the doors opened again, KARK! What the feth? There they were again.

A quick glance came from the bartender he looked at Rekha's reaction and knew she was caught off guard just as he had been. Rekha was already contemplating a number of things a number of scenarios but first and foremost was..........who are these people?

Maybe it was just coincidence right? Over thinking right? Just one of those things.

JP had nothing, and [member="Coren Starchaser"] had not answered her. This put her a bit on her own.

She understood she was gong to have to get out of dodge and head to her next stop. Most likely she would never see them again, and this whole thing would become a memory.

"You're welcome." [member="Hawk Solo"] was there for her when Shaw was killed, so for her she was just returning the favour.

Kay walked with him to the bar, giving him a little nod in thanks as he let her walk in first. However now she wished that she had been able to get that make-up back on. Her jaw clenched a little as she didn't want to be recognized. Of course there was the chance that she was forgotten. One person had told her that she was no longer a threat, had no power, no military and nothing of value. That all did nothing to help dig her out of her depression and PTSD. It just made her feel even worse about herself.

She took note of [member="Rekha Kaarde"], but not in the same way that Hawk did. How often did bars have regular customers? Very often. So for Kay there was nothing unusual about it at all.

"Oh I'm sure that they'll have your whiskey. Though I doubt that they'll have my tea. So I'll just have some whiskey too." Hopefully he didn't plan on drinking too much if they were to head out soon. He needed to fly.

[member="Kay Larr"][member="Rekha Kaarde"]

Hawk leans against the bar. He orders two double glass of whiskey neat. “The best Corellian whiskey, you have.” The bartender raises an eyebrow. “No tab this time. Credits upfront”. Hawk toss the man the credits. The bartender grins putting the credits in the till. “What are ya celebrating?” He ask Hawk as pour the whiskey into the glass.

“Celebrating my daughters life. My late daughter.” The bartender slides the glasses in front of Hawk and Kay. Hawk takes a sip of the whiskey. It was smooth. “To Maddie.” Hawk mumbles. “Sir. A round of drinks for the bar”. Hawk toss the bartender more credits. “That should be enough to cover it”

Since it was only mid morning, there was only about half dozen people at the bar. The bartender made sure to prove everyone with glass of whiskey.

Ok, she wasn't one to really turn down a free drink...but why? Why was he buying drinks....a celebration..... Feth followed by a deep sigh see this wouldn't be so bad if she wasn't new to the bar...she was here brand new knew no one face, and now she was contending with her insecurities and the fact that two peple were in the same place she was two days in a row.

Kark.

How many more expletives did she knew, a few more, in a few languages too.

She looked a the drink offered by the bartender, she leaned up, "What's the deal?"

The Bartender told her the same thing that Hawk had said to him....

Oh....that's terrible..awful.. that sinking feeling.. loss and the emotions attached she knew well enough. She looked at the drink again. Feth.

oh...what to do next? She waited a moment or two...looked at the bartender..."Express my condolences" She couldn't join them but she said a little prayer to those she believed listened and knew it was time to move on.

She tipped the drink back, gave a salute to [member="Hawk Solo"] with a quick nod, she smiled at [member="Kay Larr"] then nodded again. Rekha would go out the back she was cautious. She was still on duty, still had to deliver what she had to the Resistance.

Off to Hutt Space then home to Coruscant, Lila would be happy, and Rekha was certain Ava, Eva, and Jarod would be happy to have her home.

Kay took the drink and held it up as [member="Hawk Solo"] did. "To Maddie." She had a big sip for the fallen one, now realizing that Maddie would never get to taste it herself. She'd never get drunk, never have a family of her own. And that made her even more sad.

Some people go shopping to try to get away from their pain, but Hawk seems to want to make others around him happy. Yet Kay didn't want him to go too far. "Let's not be here too long. We've got a long journey ahead of us."

She spotted [member="Rekha Kaarde"] asthe woman smiled before slipping out through a different door than the one others tended to use. Curious. But then again she could have worked there. Heck, Rekha could even own the place for all they knew.

Kay had another sip of her drink. "One day at a time, Hawk. That's how you get through this."

[member="Rekha Kaarde"][member="Kay Larr"]

Hawk finished his drink place the empty glass on the bar. He waves off the bartender. One drink was enough. Kay was right. The only way he was going to get through this was one day at a time. And tomorrow he didn’t want to begin the day with a hangover and grief.

“Yeah, we should get going. I have to finish getting the ship prepare.” He glance at the time and mutters a curse. “Frak! Forget the supplies are being delivered right now.” He rushes out of the bar. He didn’t even wait to see if Kay was following him. He had to get there before the guy left.

Jogging all the way back to the ship. The cargo delivery Service was just about to leave without dropping off that his supplies. It was credits on delivery. Hawk waves down the driver. “Stop stop I’m here I’m here”. He calls out waving his arms above his head to get the drivers attention

The service vehicle skids to halt stopping just in front of him. “Your lucky I could’ve kill ya” says crusty old Roidan behind the wheel. Hawk shows the guy his credits.

“For being late. You can unload your own stuff.” Hawk frown slight. “ whatever.” He mutters as goes behind the vehicle and unloads the cargo hauler using repulser.

Rekha was preparing the Midnight Star for departure. She walked around her checking everything personal, while Lila looked at the engines inside.

She couldn't help but notice the commotion and yelling a few births down. There he was again [member="Hawk Solo"] was he going to be everywhere now?

She knew in her mind she needed to get in the Star and leave. Call it a day. But...that damn sensitivity she had kicked in. She shook her head while kicking herself as she made the walk towards the man. Mistake mistake. Bells and whistles, and red flags told her stop, but be damned she was.

"Hey there Hawk....I just wanted to say the bartender told me your troubles. I'm sorry for your loss." What else do you say to someone who lost a child.

She looked around where was [member="Kay Larr"] the goth

[member="Rekha Kaarde"][member="Kay Larr"]

He had just finished loading the lift. That’s when he had heard someone calling his name. Hawk turns around and spots the mystery woman the woman with no name. He jumps down off the platform.

“Hi.” He say to Rehka. “Thank you. It’s been a rough couple days.“. With the back of his hand he wiped the sweat from his brow. Loading all the supplies was hard work. Especially with the sun beating down on him. “She was only 7 years old. She was so pretty.” He shows Rehka a holo of Maddie. “She is with her mom now.” According to some reports that Hawk had read. Cindy Crane had died on one of her mercy missions. Cindy and hawk were never a couple. They were a one night stand. He had only found out about Maddie when she was two years old. They had been inseparable until now.

“Anyway life goes on” He says trying to brave. He put the holo picture back into his jacket. it was funny her being. They kept running into each other. Small galaxy. “So what are you flying? He say changing the subject away from his late daughter. “This is my ship.” He points to YT-1300 Corellian freighter.

Rekha looked around even as he stood there talking, she couldn't help herself really. Her mind bounced around quite a bit at times and it was hard to keep up with what she was talking about or referring to without a roadmap.

Rekha looked at the picture, "Pretty girl, very sad really. I"m sorry.." He seemed to want to drop it quick probably painful as she could only imagine.

"Hey where's your friend, um Kay the goth girl ([member="Kay Larr"]) You didn't just like ditch her in the cantina did you?" Had he left her there? Wasn't sure his bread and butter right now..like...a shipment.

"Um...a light freighter, something with enough of what I need to make my runs." She looked over the YT it needed some love it seemed. Why did everyone want to keep these hunkers when there were so many other ships available.. He could probably get a deal over on some poorly traveled place that needed to make a few credits. But who was she to say anything.

"Nice freighter looks like it has lot of memory with it" She was polite she hoped.

She had to admit she was uneasy with Kay not being there...where was she...what was she up to....and did any of it have anything to do with her...yes she was paranoid.

After [member="Hawk Solo"] had ran out of the bar, Kay was held back by questions from the half dozen others in there. Most were wondering what he was celebrating, so when she gave them the news, the atmosphere of the place changed.

As soon as she could get out of there, Kay did so. Although it took her a bit to remember exactly where Hawk had parked his ship, she found it eventually.

And there was Hawk, speaking with [member="Rekha Kaarde"] . Oh gosh, was he going to try to flirt? Hopefully not as he wasn't in the right mindset to do so. And besides, he had work to do!

Kay shoved her hands in the pockets of her coat as she approached them. "Hey there. Fancy seeing you here. Did Hawk invite you to come along or something?" Oh she hoped not. She needed to get her shipment and having strangers along with them wouldn't be wise.

[member="Kay Larr"][member="Rekha Kaarde"]

He smirks. “Yeah I had to. I totally had forgotten the supplies were coming today. You know they never drop off without credits so it was either wait for her. Kay can take forever sometimes. It was just easier just to go myself.” He says explaining to Rehka

“Ahh there she is ... my boss” he say talking about Kay. Having Rekha along wouldn’t be a bad idea. But it wasn’t his shipment so it wasn’t his call.

“She can come on one condition she has to tell us her name.” He says jokingly.

The Mandalorian kneeled down on a nearby rooftop, planning to keep out of sight for now. His hand glanced across his helmet as the built in H.U.D zoomed into the talking friends by the loading dock, after all he was here for the Two Force users. Four Hundred thousand credits? Easy money, even if he had to kill one in the fight that was to come that's still two hundred thousand. He didn't care for the reasoning behind Dr. Bensons want for believers of the force, the politics didn't matter but those credits are almost impossible to just pass up. His free hand tightly gripped the MX-1, only to place it down by his feet as he went to secure the rest of his weaponry.

"Blaster pistols," he nodded beginning to cover over the things he was bringing, his Star-ship waited in low atmosphere incase he had to give a quick chase or a quick escape. His mind was starting to trail off again as he shook it looking over as he gave a small smile to a Droid creeping in the shadows behind him. His eyes locked by on the landing bay as he went over all the equipment in his head once more.

Rekha nodded to Kay, "no, and I'm not asking where you are going either. I got my schedule to keep." She looked to Hawk, "I gave you my name, do you have that disease...space alzheimers?" She smiled trying to be a smart arse again. She just had not given him her last name and so far that was going to remain with her.

Rekha was unaware of the voyeur from the rooftop. If anyone was going to sense anything it would have to come from the two forcers standing with her.

She looked to the pair again, "I will ask though are you two planning on coming back here?"

His boss. It was funny how [member="Hawk Solo"] stressed on that. It seemed as though she interrupted his flirting with [member="Rekha Kaarde"] . Kay found it very difficult to not roll her eyes. Instead she just plastered on a smile well practiced from her many years in politics.

Inwardly she breathed a sigh of relief as the woman remarked that she wasn't tagging along. Good. This was no loveboat. And although Hawk was an old friend, this was still a business trip. There was a job to do and she couldn't do it without him and his ship.

Something changed in the air, however. Kay furrowed her brows ever so slightly as the hairs on the back of her neck rose. She placed her hand on them, pretending to scratch at some imaginary itch on the back of her neck. They were being watched. But by what or who remained to be seen.

"I'm not so sure that I'll be coming back here for a while. I can't say the same for Hawk though. Speaking of which, we need to get going." She started heading up the ramp of the Kamikazi, giving Hawk a look that seemed to say 'hurry up'. Hopefully he wouldn't take too long in saying goodbye. Or planning his next date.
