Post #: 1
Briana had gone ahead of her this time. Touching down on the planet to rendezvous with those remaining at the jedi temple to finalize whatever plans they had going on.
The stream of
Transport Shuttles had never stopped from her side of helping Coruscant. But it felt a pale comparison to what Briana was doing on the ground. If she had listened to her cousin after returning from the Unblessed capture, she might have been there beside her or doing something more than going over reports from the ongoing effort by the Transport Captains making round trips in shifts.
Having organized them and worked to get their clearances to even operate in such a situation, Lossa had finally managed to get the system streamlined for check-ins and reports to filter to the ship that had begun to linger in orbit to observe her efforts. Now though, she could make sure she was backing up her captains and the Alliance fleet that stood for the Coruscant populace more directly and with some ability to provide firepower. The issue now was that she was still stuck doing much the same as she had done under Romi's instruction with Jakku.
Relying on patience once more to see her task finished. So lost in her thoughts about the bitter exchange between herself and Briana before arriving here that she had almost forgotten what was happening around her. That her guest had asked her a question even.
The tac-display blipped in rapid succession once more, the entire setting before her a mingling of organized chaos and open air comm-messages trying to coordinate evacuation efforts. They had already been present long enough now that the efforts to thin out the numbers caught in the pending conflict were a frantic last ditch effort to gather those left on the lower levels. Which was a mighty task given the extensive build up of the planet's ever growing number of residents.
"Incoming hails Ma'am." The local coordinating radio officers still on the ground had sent their harried warnings, and asked once more for their IFF signals to check. Once more removed from the link only to be tied into the local systems again, the transmissions cutting out before returning in a seemingly endless loop. The silence was once again broken by a flood of messages, the non-encrypted messages for help now swallowed whole by the ones they had been listening to prior to the refresh of their clearances. All of those voices sought aid in some way while getting lost in the background of hurried messages for reinforcements along with callouts to update the current situation taking place.
A string of messages flung skyward in vain hope as titans clashed to dominate the system above the planet. Playing a vicious game of tug of war for control over the golden seat of the Galactic Alliance using the lives of so many as pawns. To shift the border back and forth to try and claim one more hill from the other. Just for another section of the map to fall and a desperate effort made to reclaim it. Finding the two in an endless loop of react, shift, and attack. The communications officers glanced back at her with a mix of apprehension and urgency. They'd lingered long enough already, and it had only been mere minutes of trying to process and orient themselves.
This was a three ring circus that was quickly losing control of the animals on display. An officer cleared their throat as Lossa took a deep breath to steady her thoughts. Meditation to focus her mind was out of the question for now as she stepped forward and looked between the viewport and the tactical display to the far wall.
She had arrived with a new contingent of evacuation ships to bolster the civilian ones Naboo had sent prior. This time able to fend off whatever tried to harass the escaping vessels with their passengers.
"The Duchess and Lightning are to remain at the rear of the formation until needed. Each will launch a squadron of drones and use them to aid the Sharp and Castle in case of enemy starfighters. Keep the Sledge Corvettes flanking the Duchess and Lightning for the time being as we move. The Sharp and Castle centered on each flank respectively." The Officers giving her their undivided attention as she strode past the tactical display to look over the situation better. The viewport was handy, but between the lights and the distorted perceptions, there were details she would miss.
"All vessels are to check your vectors as we move. Full power to bow and starboard shields to the support group. Spin up weapons system but do not engage. The Ballarat will now be the designated C.P. until all passenger vessels are clear. Again, unless you are taking direct fire, do not engage and limit your outbound."
Each officer stood by as she mulled on her plan of action. Every vessel had begun preparing its systems to her specifications. Readouts for weapons systems and shields showed up beside the friendly designators on the tactical display as she watched each vessel before letting her eyes settle over Coruscant directly. The largest problem for her now was how to get the people to safety without abandoning them.
"Awaiting orders, Knight Aureus." A reminder to the urgency needed as she let her eyes scan across the display.
"The Wallflower will move into Coruscant's atmosphere, flanked by the Dainty and Valorous." Stepping back from the display to allow the officers her full attention. The crew moved with purpose around her on the command deck as they settled in front of their duty stations and began patching in their own channels of communications.
"Once the Wallflower has secured itself in the atmosphere it will deploy the armed transports and begin loitering while the Dainty and Valorous return to help the super seventy-fives down to the surface. The two will linger and provide support however possible once every designated vessel has made it into atmo. Orders will update as needed. Make it happen."
Sharp nods ended the conversation as they dispersed to deliver instructions and begin the plan of action among the rescue vessels. With the orders delivered, she watched the Dainty and Valorous positions themselves on either side of the Wallflower. The Pocket Carrier switched their engine systems to boost mode as the rear of the vessel lit up in the dark of space and began to churn forward. The Dainty and Valorous easily kept pace with the Wallflower as it broke away and began to move toward the planet.
"The Deliverance, Keeper, and Hilltop have not arrived yet Ma'am." Another officer informed her, giving her pause in the mental hoops she was already jumping through to ensure this operation went as smoothly as possible.
"Do we have their jump trajectory?" The officer once more nodded in response as she clicked her tongue and thought. Watching the tactical display update with the jump coordinate information being plugged in. Further away than she had hoped, but without data to provide the three vessels prior to the jump, it was as close as they had been willing to risk.
"The Ballarat and the Upstart will move to a covering position to put some armor between the battle and the Deliverance. The support group will follow."
There was a silence as the officer waited for her to dispense the rest of the orders.
The information she had on the rest of the vessels under her current command were much smaller than the majority of those surrounding the planet. And severely undergunned to make a significant difference in aiding their allies. The best they had was the Upstart and Ballarat, but both were providing cover to the staging area for their evacuation efforts. An unwillingness to throw away the lives of those on board just to put on a display the willingness of at least herself, if not Naboo, to aid the Galactic Alliance was a waste of resources.
And wasting time wasn't much of a help either as the vessels began to correct their nav-plots and chatter between the groups picked up. Their encryption modules in full swing while the Duchess dropped a Sensor beacon in place before they moved away from their location.
She watched a burning wreckage slip away from the ongoing space battle, directing the Duchess and Lightning to remain in covered positions for the time being and an update on their starfighter squadrons. The Wallflower reported back over the communication channel as they moved away that the path was clear for the time being, with the Dainty and Valorous beginning to move aggressively.
The rest of the remaining vessels shifted slowly, turning at a forty-five to the ongoing battle around the planet and engaging their engines to meet the planned trajectory of their final few relief vessels.
"Don't let me down." Lossa finally mused to herself as the communications officers aboard began to screen calls for aid as the first of their relief vessels began to close in on the planet.
The
Dawnbreaker lumbered into view, centering itself among their ranks as they moved while it tied into their comm systems. Having her comms officer open a direct channel to the relief vessel. A small hand sign that she was speaking after she had centered herself in the command deck to speak.
<Welcome to the party, Dawnbreaker. This is Knight Aureus aboard the Ballarat; I'll be directing and coordinating ground relief efforts from here as I am able along with updating any ground forces with requests. Update on your current available space for incoming civilians?> Her voice carried with clear purpose as the Dawnbreaker tapped the line back.
<Copy loud and clear Ballarat. We are currently at twelve percent of our capacity for incoming. Have you deployed vessels for rescue efforts?>
A glance to her officers was met with a round of thumbs up as the Wallflowers position on the tac-display showed it moving forward towards the planet.
<Affirmative Dawnbreaker. Efforts have begun. Will update when the passengers are headed this way.> She closed the line as another line buzzed for her attention as another officer filled her in.
The Dawnbreaker made for a large target among their ranks, and was easy to move around, but the concerns were mounting around Lossa about how viable it was to keep the vessel in their midst as it weathered a barrage of incoming fire.
The
Aegis Care Cruiser hailed them, adjusting it's course as it appeared on the tac-display when it drew near enough to register on their focused display over the support groups current assets and the lane they were making to the planet below.
<Aegis, welcome to you as well. Status?> Lossa spoke quickly as the officers around her worked to compile a datapad of the functionality of the Cruiser that had hailed them.
<Ballarat, this is the Aegis. We'll be moving to the front of your formation to provide protection and covering fire. Inform us of any deviations from your current plotted trajectory and we will adjust accordingly.>
<Copy that Aegis. We are currently on route to cover the jump coordinates of another incoming group of evacuation support vessels. Move to the coordinates we will provide you and we will adjust to cover the next sortie of evac shuttles from our group.> She relayed her adjusted plan as the officers around her worked to correct their own plotted course to bring them closer to the planet as the Aegis messaged back.
<Copy that Ballarat. Call signs and clearances?> A look to the comms officer saw the man beginning to transmit the appropriate information to the Cruiser that headed away from them and further from the battle.
<Information received. We will rendezvous with the incoming vessels in your stead. Tread carefully Ballarat. Desperate enemies make desperate choices.> A grin appearing on her otherwise serious expression at the gesture.
<Confirmed Aegis. Will update if anything happens. Evac Support Group out.> The final transmission to the Aegis as she sighed and let her shoulders sag. Her head falling to her chest, hand resting on her stomach briefly as she turned to the padawan that had come aboard.
“Sorry. You wanted to ask something? Her ruby colored eyes settling on the padawan that had come aboard.
