Although Evelina was already quite invisible, she still feared the possibility of a sharp-eyed guard picking out extraneous details that might betray her presence, such as a boot print or tiny bits of falling sand. Fortunately, the Inquisitor’s timely distraction removed that concern, allowing the Butterfly to swiftly make her way up the face of the palace structure, until she arrived at the top floor. From there, Evelina used one of her gauntlet-mounted vibroblades to slash through a nearby window, before diving through feet-first and rolling into a perfect landing inside.

That was when the slaughter began.

A pair of Gamorrean guards stationed on the upper floor only barely managed to turn around and squeal before an arcing chakram took off their heads in a spray of arterial blood, their heavy, muscular forms falling to the floor as Evelina called the weapon back into her grasp. Hearing the commotion, another pair of guards sprinted around the corner, vibro-axes raised to strike. The assassin whipped her other chakram at them in a reverse forehand flick, the lead one raising his vibro-lance in an attempt to block it, only for the bladed disc to slice straight through the weapon before ripping straight through his heart. At the same time, she faded back into invisibility, before abruptly reappearing behind the other Gamorrean, the creature sputtering and choking as a gauntlet-mounted vibroblade was plunged through his neck.

Five more guards arrived only moments later, troopers clad in duraplast armor and armed with conventional weaponry. Evelina struck them down in swift, unrelenting fashion as well, her chakrams describing rings of death in flight as they looped around the room at deadly speed, bisecting, decapitating, and slashing bodies while painting the ground with bubbling crimson splatters in their wake. After only a few seconds, Evelina stood alone in the middle of the room, surrounded by nine broken bodies and the rich, tangy scent of spilled blood.

“I’m inside and the top floor is clear. Moving downstairs now!” Evelina said, her tone heavy with adrenaline as she moved.
