Closing the Gap [Matsu Ike]

Lorieth Faeryn

DON'T TALK TO ME :)
The energy in the room had grown intense with all the Force flowing between the two women. Lorieth felt as if she could reach out and grab a viable chunk of the Force. This had been the longest Lorieth had held a serious face in quite some time. But her focus was so extreme that it made sense. The effort she was exerting had actually caused her to start sweating. A bead trickles down her head as she began to focus in again on the Force. She breathed it in, and this time when she breathed out, she kept the Force within her. And then attempted to push it outwards. At first it wouldn't move. It was like trying to run with sore muscles. The muscles wouldn't budge and neither would the energy built up inside of her. Attempting to flex the Force, Lorieth kept pushing and contracting, testing the limits, pushing the boundaries. After some intense work and some time, a slight tear opened up in the fiel that was preventing the break through. All at one time, it exploded, unleashing a torrent of Force. Immediately it rebounded before it got to far, wrapping her in a cocoon. The Force visibly shimmered on her body just hardly noticeable. Letting it slowly dissipate, Lorieth realized her eyes were open the whole time despite not being able to see anything. She noted that and thought it odd. "How," she took a gasp of air and sighed with relief, "was that?"

Matsu watched her as she felt the force and let it shift over her vision to see the force going over her body with a smile on her face. There were some of the methods he had seen and it was looking good now while they were going forward in the training. "That was the force, at least the rawest form of it and with more control for yourself." She moved around her and placed her hands on her shoulders squeezing them. "When you can try again, the technique can revitalize you and keep you strong." Now she was showing it while her attention was on her showing the force energy within her hand setting it on the girls back and rubbing the force in small lazy circles. "It is also the way to manifest the force into your hands to share it and help others. The base technique within healing and support."

Breathing was still ragged for Lorieth. This stuff was very hard at first, but she knew with enough practice she would be just as good as her mother. As Matsu touched her back, the power of the Force entered her, calming her. Her lungs filled up and began breathing steadily. As the last stars cleared from her vision, she turned her head to look at Matsu standing near her, rubbing her back. "It felt so...serene. It was like nothing else mattered but the fact that I am alive and well and here." Calmly, she moved away from Matsu, walking to clear her head some more. What she had felt was unlike anything she had ever felt before. It was real peace; real tranquility. A feeling she would not soon forget. "What should I do now?" she asked, glancing at one of the displays for the time they had left in hyperspace

Matsu stood there while she looked like a jedi master more then a mother, as the girls mother she wasn't opposed to explaining that this was something amazing that not many saw. She had seen other masters who just said and had their padawan try to use the force right away. To force it almost but rarely did they teach how to feel it so the lessons later would be able do it. As a jedi master she knew it was the first step to understanding the force and all its many mysteries as she watched the girl look to the chrono. SLowly moving to stand behind her but not within that personal bubble while she had her arms clasped behind her back lightly.

"That was the force, felt in a way few try and feel it, as a current instead of a force they can control. Many other masters will have you struggle to move objects and use the force without explaining the deeper meaning towards balance and serenity. They are not wrong but they only look towards the physical applications of the force and usually forgo the main sense aspect. Forgetting there are techniques to learn as the basics that can slowly be applied and pushed forward and then expanded into strong force techniques as the padawan grows." Matsu allowed her lips to form a tight lipped smile though smile she stood there.

"It was your first step into a larger world and it will only get bigger as your connection to the force grows."

Lorieth pushed a loose strand of her pink hair back behind her ear. Letting loose a sharp exhale, Lorieth turned and slumped in a chair. That had been a lot of work. Never had she realized how difficult even the most simple of things in the Force would be. But at the same time it all felt relieving to make so much progress in such short amount of time. Perhaps it was the fact that all her life she had been taught to feel the Force. And when it came to just gathering it, it became easier already knowing of its presence. She pushed herself back up from the chair, "I'm gonna go lay down for a few. Let me know if you need anything," she smiled, walking away.

Matsu bowed her head and let her go, a smile though showing on her face while she was moving towards the harder and more important place of it all. The Hoth system would be there in a few hours before her attention went on some of the things. She went to her room and changed closing the door as the crew worked around the ship with a small sigh of enjoyment. She had so much to do as she rolled her shoulders standing in the sarashi and her tattoos showing in the mirror. Her hair got untied as it came down morepast her feet and ankles onto the floor with a small thump from the weight sitting on the edge of the bed.

"She did better then I expected." There was a pale blue form as the image of the force ghost on the edge of her vision remained there smiling. A small nod on her face and as Matsu laid down it moved over placing the hand on her head while she laid there. Matsu reached out and felt in the force her daughters throughout the galaxy which seemed easier now after she had touched and held the heart of the universe. With all of it she allowed her thoughts to drift off going to sleep as she closed her eyes and awoke several hours later to the sound of the chrono telling her that they had arrived as she felt the world.

Lorieth slept for the rest of the trip. When the sound rang, alerting them that hey had arrived on Hoth. Immediately, Lorieth shot up, her hair a complete mess. She swung her feet over the side of the bed, and stood up. The bag she had brought with her for the trip had ended up on the floor to the side of the bed. Reaching in, she felt around for the brush, throwing it on the bed and then dived back in to grab some heavier clothing. Although she had the circlet, she knew that to train, she would need to keep as much of the Force available to her as possible. The heavy clothes were still flexible enough to be able to move easily. Donning the clothing, Lorieth grabbed the brush and started smoothing out her hair, and then tied it in a ponytail so that the wind would not blow it all about.

The door opened as she approached it and walked out into the hallway. Lorieth walked right across and knocked on the door. "Wake up mommy! We're here!" she yelled through the door. Despite earlier, the smile had sprung back to her face and her eyes were bright. The few hours of rest had done everything to rejuvenate her and more. She felt better than ever. As if somehow things had changed. Maybe it was learning how to channel the Force earlier...

Matsu was up and dressed, the bodyglove under the form fitted robes and her anklet in the boot while she moved with the knocking on the door. It had her smiling mostly because she was glad the girl was up and excited from the sound of it. So it gave her a great moment while securing her hair into a ponytail she could secure in her clothing so it was out of the way for the time until she held a hand out opening the door. "Yes yes sweetie I am up." The smile was there on her face rising up with a smile on her face while she grabbed her lightsabers setting them on her hip and walking while she looked over her daughter. "Now make sure all your clothing is secured and ready and your equipment pack is ready." She was planning for some fun and excitement down there while moving towards the view port to watch them coming down into an old hanger.

"Equipment pack!" she squealed, turning around and rushing back into her room the door shutting behind her. There was a small footlocker that had a small pack that Lorieth threw onto the bed. Quickly, rummaging through her pack, she pulled out a couple of essentials before crashing through her door to run to get snacks from the kitchen. She loaded her arms full of small little edibles. Turning quickly, she rushed back to her room, her feet scuttling on the floor. All the food was dumped into the small portable pack. With that ready she checked all the straps on her clothes once more before throwing the bag on her back.

Calmly, Lorieth walked to the ramp where she found her mother waiting for her. "So! What are we gonna do today mommy!?" she said, nearly bursting at the seems with excitement. It was their first adventure on Lorieth's new path. And she was stoked to go. Before Matsu even had a chance to reply to her question, Lorieth started running down the ramp and looking around at all that she could see. The cold was not noticeable at all. Whether that was the circlet or the clothes, she didn't know. Maybe it was both.

Matsu looked at her run off and moved looking at her chrono when she got to the ramp and waited for a moment long. Starting to open it for the girl and her as the crew looked on before she clasped her hands. When she returned and the ramp was down, Matsu was walking with a smile wider on her face and looking at the massive hanger and warehouse they were fixing up. All of it designed to protect their preserve and converters here in the snow as they looked after the ropo's. "We are here to explore and you train your abilities in the force in a more practical sense. I could have you standing around a temple all day and you will only learn a few things." Matsu was looking over all of it and the construction and reconstruction they were doing with the bay doors to close as she looked out. "Now feel the force and let it expand your senses outward to the wrld, feel the creatures on the planet."

Calling upon her abilities from earlier, she breathed in deep, absorbing the Force. Then she let it out without keeping it surrounding her. Now that she had fully aligned herself with the Force, she looked outward. There were the men and women in the hangers and warehouses. There were the guards around the outside. Then after that she couldn't find a whole lot. The odd animal or two plus a few ice lichens. "I can't sense much," Lorieth reported. "Though I can sense all the people here in the buildings. There isn't much after that. Am I missing something?" she asked. Lorieth knew that her abilities in the Force were still limited and that not everything would be immediately accessible to her. But that's why she was here.

Matsu looked at her and gave a nod of her head to that. "A good first time." It was, here on hoth where things were used to hiding from the elements well it left a lot to look for while her attention was on a few of the things with a wider grin appearing on her face. leading the way outside as the snow crunched underfoot with the circlets able to keep them warm well it allowed Matsu to walk without much fear of the cold leading the path across to another hanger and section of the mountain. "This is the section we haven't been able to secure just yet but we are working on it. The cave network was slightly mapped by the rangers when they were here years ago but we're going to explore it and who knows what is inside. That will be the first thing, using your senses to determine if we are in danger." Well faux danger, Matsu was all for endangering herself but she wouldn't put her daughter at risk on her first adventure... no they would be safe and she offered a smile leading the way inside. "Use the force to guide yourself through."

Lorieth's mouth nearly fell all the way to the ground when she witnessed the amount of snow outside the compound. Nothing could have prepared her for the sheer amount of white powder that covered the ground. While her mother walked towards another building, Lorieth stayed within shouting distance while she played in the snow. Tumbling around and throwing it in the air. It was so much fun, but she made sure to meet with Matsu before they entered the building.

"Let me see if I can sense anything now!" she said excitedly. Quickly, she channeled the Force into her body again. This time she hardly required any breath to gain the energy. Then she looked outward with the Force, trying to detect anything. She thought she could sense a couple of things, but they weren't strong enough for her to be sure. "I can't tell if there's anything. There might be but I'm not sure. Might as well find out!" she said, starting to walk toward the cave entrance. The rocks that made up the cave even looked cold though they weren't even exposed directly toward the elements.

Matsu watched her and was leading the way a little as she gave the lead to her, slowly taking it all in as they went and she wondered what they was in here. Ideas of secret treasures coming to her mind in the long run before she was turning her attention back to Lorieth with a raised eyebrow. "Are you certain?" Matsu was watching her and walked to the side a little as she came back with a white ball of fluff with small horns and she ran her fingers through the creatures fur. "It can be hard but this is a ropo a native creature of the planet and something you can learn a lot from." Matsu was looking at her and she could see the heartbeat of the creature with the force. "It can teach you how to see the life of creatures great and small."

The small creature was so ridiculously adorable that Lorieth squeaked in excitement, dashing over to Matsu. She looked at the small little creature with wide eyes. Realizing that she needed to be learning and not fawning over the cute animal, Lorieth calmed herself, letting the Force flow into her body. This time she didn't need to breath in deeply at all. It came more or less without any effort. She still had to think about it and focus on it, but it was definitely becoming much easier. Letting the Force reach out to the small animal, she grasped onto it's essence, feeling it through the Force. And, noticeably, she felt that it was cute even through the Force.

Feeling the heart beat of the animal was magical, as it pumped blood toward the rest of the body, she felt it all moving, coursing through. "It's so adorable," Lorieth whispered. "Even in the Force I can feel the small frailness of the tiny creature. Can I keep it as a pet?" her voice became high pitched with excitement. "I'll take good care of it I promise!"

Matsu looked at her go from giddy to serious and she offered a smile though while holding the creature. Handing it over while she spoke to the girl and was giving her the creature while preparing through the caves. "You can, it is small, very adorable and trusting. Reminding you the value and preciousness of life. Also if I have to clean up after it cause you get bored I know how to ground you using the force for weeks." Mtsu said it with a playful seriousness to her gaze moving over her as she continued through the cave watching the snow and ice while raising a hand to move the ice underneath it.. Ice shaping something she had learned from the shapers with water more then enough while she was going towards the back sections of the cave.

Lorieth was absolutely ecstatic. The small animal cuddled into her arms. It was surprisingly warm despite the conditions of the planet. Reaching over her head, she placed it sort of between her pack and her back so that it nestled in and got comfortable. She made sure to not the way that such a small animal fit in with the Force so that later she would recognize different forms of life. Then as Matsu started shifting ice, Lorieth got distracted from her new pet. "What are you doing?" her voice lingered in mystical curiosity. This was something that she never knew her mother was able to do. Let alone any other Jedi she had ever met. It occurred to Lorieth that maybe she didn't know everything about Matsu. But that left things exciting.

Matsu was looking at her for a moment and gave a small nod of her head. THe water and ice under her hand shimmering while she was moving with her attention on some of the wall before she came into an open chamber with a grin on her face. "I am shaping the water and ice within the walls to get a feeling for this cave." She had some ideas standing in the cave chamber while looking at the snow on the floor. The sounds of more ropo's as they moved around in the cave in bundles walking over each other was more adorable as Matsu saw her daughter setting hers in her jacket and pack. The sections of caves under the ice she could make out as there was snowfall frm something crashing through the mountain and into the ground belw icing over. That was her real interest while shifting some until they could nearly see through the floor down to an old model ship. "It looks like an old lambada shuttle."

Lorieth's mouth opened in amazement. The ice and water moved in a flowing form that had Lorieth confused. The ropo behind her hard started nuzzling in, making itself more comfortable with a couple of small squeaks. Starting to move gingerly across the ice, Lorieth began head further into the downward sloping cave. "I've got a couple of questions," she said as she went. "First, how do we get down to that thing? And second, can you teach me how to do that!?" Learning to manipulate ice would be an amazing ability. Something that she would never be able to forget. She hoped it was teachable because now her head was stuck on it.

Matsu looked at the girl and offered a smile on her face while she put her hands in her pockets. "Yes I can in time, it is not something many can learn easily or control to the degree of a master. It will take time and you will have to learn other things first." Matsu was looking at her and then lower at the ship while she brought a foot forward and then stomped it as her hands reached out gripping at the ice. Slowly spreading it as the ice started compacting and rising up a little as she was making a path down to it in the ice with the sounds of ropo's and some of the tauntauns coming towards them. The preserve they could set up here in the caves was one thing but they could work on exploring beneath the ice s well. "As for getting down there it is easier when you can make an opening." Matsu was lookig down at the ship as she moved down carefully to it and kicked at the doors making an opening they could go through. "And one other part of it my dear is you need to be willing to explore the unknown."
