Defense and Offense can be one in the same. (Lightsaber training)

I was new to the faction. As seeing as the Fel Family that I had once worked for had suddenly vanished into thin air, I had to find a new place. And that was the CIS. Now that I had become part of them, On my right hand I still looked at the Signet ring that I was given, and wearing my new Templar armor, I wore the robed variation of the armor. Even though it was heavier, I didn't really attest to the regal and lighter version.

I just didn't seem to fit in around here, but like that was something I cared about. I didn't fit in anywhere else anyways. Being a young man at the age of sixteen and taking on two Sith at the same time, was a feat in itself. but even then, Almost no one knew about it. That was because nobody really cared.

For me it did. It was the top of my condition, and since then, I had improved! Learning a New lightsaber form, Getting a second lightsaber, and even armor that could now protect me from more attacks than just a few blaster bolts.

I walked into the Training room, waiting for a Zabrak that would be training me. I had my hood down, and was messing with my Signet ring. Spinning it around my right ring finger. Wondering what Lightsaber form I would be learning this time. Already I knew some about Soresu, Shi-Cho, and Shien, Three of the seven forms. As a Templar Duelist now, I hoped to learn all of them.

@[member="Krest"].

Krest hummed lightly as he entered the room. He himself was wearing the typical armor of the Templars. In truth there were only two forms he chose to use. Juyo and Ataru, both ferocious. Both relying on control and the force. And that's how he wanted it. He had his hood on low, smiling under his hood. At least @[member="Xander Carrick"] was on time. He claps his hands together before holding his hands wide.

"Good! You're here, and on time. Shall we begin then?"

I turned around to face the Zabrak. Taken slightly aback by his look and stature, I nodded my head to his question. "Yes, I try to be on time, and if you wish for me to."

I drew out my lightsaber, the cylinder hilt come to life with a yellow blade rather than my white one. If I was going to be training, should we get so intense that my lightsaber should break, I would rather it be one that can be easily replaced. I hoped to change my lightsaber crystal to that of Green really to match with that of our colors.

I let the saber hang in my hand and I decided to ask, "So what will you be teaching me?"

@[member="Krest"]

Krest rubbed his chin lightly, looking to the saber. It was a nice blade, looked balanced. Krest pulls up his own saber, turning the light blue blade on. "Ataru for now. But first." He holds blade up, then off to the side. His feet spread out, both lightly digging into the ground. "Let's see what you know."

@[member="Xander Carrick"]

I smiled as he said Ataru. A known aggressive form. Shien was rather aggressive for a defensive based form. but Ataru was known and named as being just the opposite. I let the yellow blade hum as my teacher's light blue ring out as well. Where he would be attacking from all angles, I would be defending from all angles with my Soresu. Taking the standard stance of feet shoulder width apart, left arm out at him and right hanging back with the saber pointed forward. I motioned him to come at me. "Yes, Let's."

@[member="Krest"]

Krest shifted his dominant foot, bursting towards @[member="Xander Carrick"]. The man was not new to saber combat, so there was no reason to hold back. He leaped, jumping right over the boys figure, his blade ringing out twice for his shoulders. He'd land on the other side, twirling mid-landing to slash lengthwise for his back.

I smiled as the man suddenly burst forwards. With the heavy draw that he had on his dominate foot, I had a feeling that he would jump, and such he did. With his saber coming down at me, I ducked slightly and brought my blade up twice to block each attack. And as he landed, I turned with him. And sent a force push at him as his feet were touching the ground. I then moved back into the standard position to see his next move.

I was to be the Eye of the storm.

Krest slide back, smirking. He caught himself, lightly moving on the balls of his feet. "Good good.." He nods to @[member="Xander Carrick"] before bursting forward again. He leaped not over the boy but right at him, spinning through the air with his saber in his hand. With the barrel he spun by Xander, slashing constantly on the way by. He caught himself on the ground, his non dominant hand against the ground and his saber hand high, sending his own force push at him.

I smiled as the man once more came at me. This time the man went to the right, and I had a twinge that he may be using more than just a blade from now on. As his constant strikes came at me, I blocked them with the utmost precision. Letting his blue blade slide across mine, rather than taking the full force of his attacks.

And as his little torrent of attacks came to an end, he sent a force push my way. I had expected that he might use such a move, and used the limited powers of my Telekinesis to pull myself down to the ground Limiting my exposure to the force, and keeping myself from flying back.

I then decided to attack.

Coming after him I simply sent a wide swing, only at the point of where my swing would end, did I use the tactics of Shien to my advantage, My grip changed as I brought my blade back in suddenly and at a very fast pace, in the reverse grip on the lightsaber. As my arm was coming from right to left my blade then shut off before it would even touch his own blade, and my left hand was already in position for the force push that I sent back at him.

@[member="Krest"]

Krest switched to the defensive with ease. His life had revolved around the blade, and such a fight was what he lived for. But the Templar still had much to learn about using the force with his blade. When @[member="Xander Carrick"] slashed out for him he moved his blade to collide with it, only the blade wasn't there. He flew back from the push, completely caught off guard by it. He landed on his feet, crouched down and digging his robotic hand into the floor to keep himself from falling over.

He stood slow, rolling his shoulders for a second. His left leg popped open, the hidden compartment now visible. A second saber hilt shot out into Krest's palm and he ignited the blood red blade. The compartment closed, and Krest ran forward. He threw his saber, utilizing the force to send it spinning for Xander before leaping after it. The saber would go over Xanders head, but so would Krest, who was using his blue saber to slash for Xanders, shoulders on his way over. Krest would grab his red blade in a reverse grip and slash upwards with it in a reverse grip, spinning through the air before he landed, the red saber in a reverse grip and the blue in a normal.

I smiled as my attacks had caught the man off guard. It was good that I still had my game against those who were of a higher rank than myself. He had slowed himself down with his metal hand and had drawn his second lightsaber, Red in color, I had to just smile, As his saber was thrown, I drew my own, only this saber was different than most. Instead of the normal rounded edges of the aura around the lightsaber blade, mine looked as though it were made of pure white hot flames. A testament of my white synith-crystal that I had made.

It activated to be that of to defend myself. Even if the thrown saber went over my head, I slammed the yellow blade into the mid air red. Smacking it away from a potential attack. The Zabrak had jumped over me again, Sending a force push at him as he lept over me, I had missed him my inches. Landing behind me, my white saber came to block the blow to my shoulder.

As the saber that he thought he had, was no longer there, his hand came up with a "fake" uppercut. I simply allowed myself to send a kick to the man's midsection as there was no saber to cut off my leg.

@[member="Krest"]

Krest's hand flipped back, a third saber igniting from his palm as he landed without his red blade. It was a short saber, but a saber none the less. The kick pushed him back, but he kept to his feet, his form switching. He moved like a blur, slashing his way around @[member="Xander Carrick"], both pale blue blades alight.

How many sabers does Krest have? no one knows!

he drew a third saber both having a light blue hues, the came to clash with my own yellow and white blades. As he was now using force speed, I had to do so as well to keep up. he came in with blow after blow, I had reverted back to my own form of Soresu, protecting myself from the relentless attacks that were sent at me. I grimaced as i was being pressed by the man. And when I had a feeling that it was my chance, I took it. Lashing both of my hands out just as the saber was coming for my chest, I sent a force push with all the power that I could muster.

Even after I had did this, My grips on the lightsabers changed that of the revers grip. and launching myself at him. I began the wide ark strikes at the man. back and fort from right to left, up and down. Using a mix of Jar'Kai, Shien, Shi-cho, and the limited attacking forms of Soresu against the man and his aggressive forms of Ataru and Juyo. This time, I was the aggressor.

@[member="Krest"]

Krest flipped himself backwards, shutting off his palm saber mid flight. He wasn't caught off guard by the push this time, but he couldn't ground himself from it. He placed both hands on his blade, moving to the defense. He had limited defending techniques, and @[member="Xander Carrick"] was easily able to gain the upper hand.

Krest gritted his teeth. He narrowly dodged one of the saber strikes, listening to it hiss as it passed by his ear. He found himself backed up into a wall before long, and then he had an idea. The Zabrak built the force up in his foot, still blocking before slamming his foot down. A force repulse would surge through the floor, intending to push everything around him.

Whether or not it pushed @[member="Xander Carrick"] back, he'd shut down his saber, holding his hands up.

"Wo wo now. You've given me quite the run for my money. I've got the idea needed to teach you Ataru now."

The thing will full on onslaughts in the form of Shien, is that you had to have complete control of the battle to be effective. even one mess up could cause you to loose the battle. As Krest's foot came down and sent out a force wave, I was knocked back by my feet first, and back. I landed in the pushup position as Krest said that I gave him a run for his money. Well, being able to do it to others as well was a thing of the past. he stopped himself and said that he would be teaching me Ataru.

Good an official aggressive form. Since most of my other forms were that of defense, maybe it was time for me to start going the other way. I nodded my head and turned off my saber so I could show respect and listen to him. "Sounds good to me as anything."

@[member="Krest"]

Krest nodded. He waved @[member="Xander Carrick"] over before moving outside. "Ataru is a form focused on extreme movement. Cartwheels, leaps, flips. All while slashing at your foe. The force is your ally in this form, allowing you to move faster and hit harder. Enough to keep your opponent off balance." The Zabrack held his hands behind his back. In front of them was what looked like an obstacle course. Circles that were marked as targets laid randomly throughout, over barricades, around corners, over pits. Each target was seemingly just out of reach for a normal strike. One would have to jump in order to hit them.

"Do not let this course fool you. It may look simple, but there are times where the right answer will be wrong. And once you start, do not stop. Should you be in the same spot for longer then a second, the floor will give way and you will have to start over."

A perfect way to train Ataru. Constant movement was key. "Begin when you feel ready."

I paid my utmost attention to the man. if I was to get anywhere close to getting this form down, I would have to learn from those that use it. No matter the cost. Turning to face the obsitical course that was set before me, I knew that I would have to keep moving even before Krest had said so. I saw the many amount of targets that laid before me. Each in areas where it would have to jump with the force. Igniting just my yellow lightsaber, I began the course.

The first target was a simple jump and twiste with my wrist. Cutting the target in half parallel with the ground. As my feet touch the ground, I knew that it would fall out from under neath me, taking a small step forwards, it seemed as though I moved several steps with the help of force dash to the next target. Jumping up and cutting the second one into twain with an uppercut. before my body could even drop, I dashed across the air to the third target. piercing it in the bull's eye. and with a twist of my body fell to touch the ground for only a second as I jumped once more.

(OOC: how many targets are there? and what is the rest of the course like?)

@[member="Krest"]

((OOC: 25. The course will slowly angle upwards onto thin beams about as wide as your foot. The jumps will be longer as you progress to the end, and targets will start to group together, needing to be cut at the same time. I'm making this up as I go so if you have more questions please ask x3)

Krest walked calmly to the end of the course. He had a feeling @[member="Xander Carrick"] would be able to conquer this on his first try, but he didn't want to be at the back should Xander fall. Those that fell were thrown back to the start, and the Zabrak had every intention of not having the boy land on him.

(OOC: will do!)
Three first post,
As the angling of the floor became apparent, it would force me to push myself to my limits of the force. I continued to move on. Jumping form the next two targets. hanging about three feet apart, I held my blade out to my side and spun, cutting two more in half. As a fell, I took out a third but holding out the saber in front of me, and it simply cut the target as I fell. Touching the ground, I ran to the next set of targets.

Six down.

As I came up from another jump, I threw my saber. it pierced into the first target and was yanked back down to my hand as I came up. The saber hit connected with my hand only to quickly be spun and cut two more. Only to pierce a third and cut out the bottom section as I fell. My feet didn't even touch the ground as I dashed less than a foot above the surface of the ground, coming up to the next set with now my second saber alive in it's white brilliance. Chopping two with one, and two with another. I fell down once more.

Six and eight is 14,

The incline was more sever after this. Forcing me to jump and rely on my force more often. Already I was sweating and it dripped from my face and hands. I had dark spots on my back, pits, and chest. as well as the back of my knees. my grip was reversed and sabers thrown to cut three more down as I dashed across the air once more.

17 down.

@[member="Krest"]

Krest watched @[member="Xander Carrick"] from the side. The course was a short walk, but it involved moving from side to side. While one ran through it, another could keep pace simply walking. It was made this way so a teacher could watch the progression. And the progression of Xander was astounding. The boy was only sixteen, yet he was already well past the point others failed. Before he knew it, Krest would end up learning from Xander.
