Discussion: Why Did You Leave The Galactic Republic?

200_s.gif
I know, right? What a controversial topic. Try to keep any Skype or any other related dramas away. It's a genuine question. With the recent formation of the Galactic Alliance- with most being former Republic affiliated characters- and former established factions, such as the Silver Jedi and Lanctum (?) Sanctum (now the Silver Sanctum) being formed by the same type of members, I have concerns.

It is my perspective and opinion, that the Galactic Republic wouldn't be where it is in it's war with the One Sith, if the characters/writers who formed the GA etc. hadn't left in the first place. Eleven defeats says it all.

...

Why did you leave the Galactic Republic?

Topics like this I prefer not to take part in, because this rouses people up, but The Republic was Toxic before the Silvers and the GA were formed, that same toxicity has remained and increased since...people don't want to deal with drama it hinders the creative process, so what did we do? we left; and that all happened after people tried to speak up.

Left the Republic way back shortly after Omega Pyre formed. In other words, back in 2013. Before it was the cool and trendy thing for Jedi to go rogue and found their own groups! Guess that's not your target area, but nonetheless. Reasoning is simple, my character was a Jedi In Name Only and her good budy Tegs was OP's 2IC.

Moira left after Roche. Republic drama was already a thing then. Rest of my chars had nothing to do with it, beyond Callisto briefly being Aurelia's minion. No IC or OOC reason to stick around for the dramatic ragefest, as amusing as some Senate scenes were.

And this as well.

Also: because this kind of question, with this kind of overtone, doesn't come up so much in other factions.

That, too. * quoting intensifies *

I ran the Republic once. Even in early 2013 it was a dramatic ragefest.
The saltiness of the faction has varied from 'sprinkle on the fries' to 'Dead Sea'.

My Jedi Master stuck with the Republic because IC she is an old school Jedi Master who loves the Order and the Jedi. Recently I pulled her out because I found myself unwelcome and also I found I could still have all the fun independently or with other factions.

I think the Republic should dissolve, eventually to reform in new circumstances and a new name. That's just my opinion on the matter.

The toxicity is bred by threads like this, that question our very existence. That coupled with continuous invasions in which losses are continuously sustained.

If you lose enough, people tend to get upset about it. Bad reactions will happen, even though they shouldn't. We are only human.

While I first I was against such notions, however I found this site to be so much more resilient in new factions ability to make a comeback.
In essence its like the Sith Empire years ago, when faced with total defeat, it became that, defeated. Everyone moved on and the OS was born. Instead the republic limps on, refusing to do what the Sith Empire did: Admit Defeat. And it clutches on screaming and screaming, hoping for a comeback. Most people however are turning to the GA.

Depends which character. Most them had their story go as far as it would go with the Republic or they were just a poor fit. My characters all inherently outsiders and wanderers of the Outer Rim. Working as part of a centralized, hierarchical organization concerned with the core didn't fit them, so they went back to where they belonged. Outlanders moving from place to place as fate takes them.

Not all of the writers who formed the GA were in the pubs or were active leaders in the pubs (at least not recently). The GA has very little to do with the GR's war with the OS.

I realize that threads like this only add to the toxicity. But these responses are helpful. It gives me a platform to point out the problems. How those problems are fixed remains to be seen.

[member="Ashin Varanin"] I will endeavor not to burn.
