INTRODUCTION
It is said that the might of the Confederacy rests within the unfeeling hands of her droid armies. However, when the situation is dire and the fate of trillions hang in the balance, the nation places her trust in an elite few. They are warriors of the highest caliber. Some were born and bred as clone sons of the famed Sarge Potteiger. Others hail from every walk of life. All have banded together to become the Rapid-Response arm of the Confederate Defense Force. Easily, these are the greatest soldiers that the Southern System has to offer. They are Dauntless.
In terms of mission profile, the 117th Dauntless Legion specializes in the most high risk operations. By design, they are the first ones in - last ones out, regardless if the adversary is foreign or domestic. To this end, they are equipped with the finest arms and armor, enabling them to withstand whatever Hell the Galaxy throws their way. However, technological advances aside, what sets the Dauntless Legion apart is their unit cohesion. Though the overwhelming majority of the Legion are clones who have undergone meticulous, genetic grooming - a minority of exceptional individuals lead every charge. These souls, whether cloned or otherwise, are hand-picked due to their unique abilities - and together, they form the battalion of Dauntless Commandos.
For the most part, the burden of leadership is shared by the Commandos - who are each fully authorized to lead varying numbers of Dauntless Troopers to any sortie. However, overseeing the formation as a whole is a formal Dauntless Commander, a General who reports directly to the top brass of the CDF. While the Commandos themselves operate on an experienced based, first-among-equals system, the Commander formalizes the Chain of Command by being the standing officer. Furthermore, the Commander has the ability to appoint a number of Adjudants who will aide in the organization and direction of the Legion. Much akin to the Exarchs of the Viceroyalty, Adjudants are literal extensions of the Commander’s authority and office.
All in all, the 117th Dauntless Legion is one of the most effective units ever assembled by the Confederacy. Between their diverse training, skills, and assets, they are more than equipped to face down whatever any and all threats to the Southern System.
