Dust in the Wind

Jeela nodded again, especially with the part about using a parasol as a defense rather than just always using a lightsaber. It certainly made sense. More sense that what many Force users seemed to think. She lifted an eyebrow as [member="Matsu Ike"] levitated. That was not something she had seen before. "That would certainly work, although I have never seen such a feat performed."

"The art of levitation and flight is easy enough for most to do, once you know how to work with the rules you can do as you want. The only limitation is what is in your mind." She continued to walk around and rise up until Matsu was sitting down in the air with a full grin. "Focus on your body and take the air into your stomach. From there hold it in yourself until it is all of your muscles and expel it to push out with the force."

Jeela nodded, chewing her lip, visualizing the instructions [member="Matsu Ike"] had just given. She took a deep breath in, and held it, trying to spread the air everywhere. Nothing. Her face just started turning blue before she broke into violent coughing as her body tried to get enough air, "It appears I do not know the rules well enough yet."

Matsu had a small tight lipped smile on her face as she gave a nod. "It is okay most fail their first time." Matsu had a look on her face before moving about. "But one never learns by giving up, try and try again until we get it."

Jeela nodded, and took another deep breath, letting herself drift into the flow of the Force as she did so, and using it to nudge the air throughout her entire body. She almost felt like she might have begun floating. Her lungs began to burn, so she expelled the air out, using the Force to strengthen it. Her lungs emptied faster for sure, but she didn't levitate. She had a strange feeling that she wasn't doing it correctly.

Matsu touched the ground and looked at Jeela. "Alright lets try it this way." The jedi master stood still and took a breath letting her hands trace the path it went in her. Rotating them as she inhaled and then pushing out towards the ground once... twice.... three times until she was floating in the air with her eyes closed. "It is all in the motions, your breathing, your mind. Sometimes I tell my daughters you need to think happy thoughts."

Happy thoughts. Those were interesting, and not really anything she had heard from previous teachers. She imitated her actions though, trying to remember her happiest moments. Which was it? Finishing her lightsaber? Finally leaving? Helping the first person in trouble that she met? She picked the last one, and took another deep breath, sending the air along the indicated route before releasing it with the aid of the Force. She felt lighter and seemed to go upwards a centimeter or two before dropping down again. She gave a guarded smile, surprised at the result. It was very unexpected, to say the least.

Matsu looked at her and gave a nod while she kept her eyes opened and hovered there. The idea of happy thoughts could keep someone in a state of enjoyment without going to the negative. "Very good now keep it and focus on this moment. Concentrate on the sounds of my breathing and this state of mind you want to reach it whenever you try this technique. A point of serenity."

Jeela nodded, and closer her eyes, listening to the rhythm of the other woman's breathing, settling into that same rhythm, and narrowing her focus on that specific moment. The rest of the galaxy faded away and became the small contentment that eased the tension from travelling and gently washed away edges long ago hardened and sharpened by working in some of the darkest places in the galaxy. Was this how the Jedi were nearly always so calm? Remembering a moment and holding onto it? Didn't they have something against emotions though? How did this fit into it? She let those questions drift away and focused on the feeling of floating. She smiled. It was such an unexpected feeling, but so soothing as well.

Matsu gave a nod of her head while she moved about in the air and remained very silent letting the girl learn what best to do. Her hands came up a little to slowly lift herself and Jeela towards the roofs but kept focus to allow her to be safe. Then carefully she set them down while sliding the twin turadium fans out for use. "You are doing well"

Jeela caught her breath as they floated up to the roof. Her heart pounded in her ears, but she maintained that peaceful joy she had found just in case. Her eyes widened as they settled down onto the roof, slightly stunned that they had done that. She nodded thankfully at [member="Matsu Ike"]'s comment, "Thank you."

"Very good, you maintained your composure and didn't lose focus now while up here you can practice and work on it with a little more real needed applications. I have found it helps to have a little danger but not to much, levitating and keeping on the roof with the force can prove more useful then just hearing me talk about it all the time." Matsu continued to stand there and moved back a bit on the roof. "Alright now focus on me and hover over here."

Jeela nodded, and took a deep breath, calming herself, and pushed herself a little higher, to be several inches off the ground now, and wobbling. Her face paled when she saw the ground beneath them. She swallowed, but kept focusing on that feeling and floating. She gave a weak smile and propelled herself forward a little, an inch or two at a time, keeping her hands out to balance.

Matsu gave a nod and continued to remain there more for being a spotter while she focused on the force and air around Jeela to catch her if she fell bu the padawan wouldn't know that. She kept moving back little by little but was smiling. "You are doing well now keep it up and when you get over to me stop."

Jeela nodded, lips pressed together and face still pale. She wasn't quite so terrified now. Just moderately so. She stopped as a wind blew past, causing her to bob side to side. The air stilled, and she went on until stopping in front of [member="Matsu Ike"]. She gave a weak smile.

Matsu watched her and when Jeela stopped her face remained passive but she was proud. She was seeing her try and try and learn how to handle the problem. "Good now focus on the force and use it to go back to the ground level like so." Matsu moved sliding down the roof on the air as the wind blew the sleeves and she on an angle landed.

Jeela's face went even paler and her stomach went ahead and jumped down to the ground, leaving the rest of her on the roof. She nodded, though, and drifted to the edge of the roof. Once again, she had to trust the Force. It had led her here, and it would hopefully get her to the ground. Usually these leaps of faith were not literal leaps. She drifted over the edge and dropped a foot before regaining her levitation. She stopped there, breathing hard. Then she continued, body tense and jaw tight. She made it down though, visibly relaxing as her boots landed on the ground,

Matsu watched her and kept her focus to protect her and keep her steady as needed until she was down and Matsu bowed her head. "You have done well, now we will rest for a few and move on to more practical defense. Without your armor and if you are not able to fly away you will want to be able to contort and move." The jedi master cracked her knuckles and rolled her shoulders while relaxing a little in preparation.

Jeela returned the bow, bending at the waist though, and catching her breath again, "Thank you so much." She gave a small smile. "That is certainly true. Simply taking blows is not something I wish to do." She checked her pulse. A little too high. She took a few calming breaths, letting the Force flow into her, and resting in its flow until the tension mostly slipped away. Much better.

"Well you won't just be taking blows." The jedi master moved not bringing her blade up but her hand while she moved quickly around Jeela. "Arms up and feet apart." Matsu went into the posiiton and she held one hand out in front of her while the other went to her waist in a clenched fist. "When someone comes at you, use your speed, grab the wrist and twist before striking it to disable."
