Dust in the Wind

Jeela nodded, taking the stance, and bouncing slightly on the balls of her feet, ready to move in whichever direction she needed to move."Grab, twist, and disable. Right. Any specific technique you would say works best?" She knew a few in theory and with basic practice, but not serious enough to really use without retraining. That came from not spending much time fighting. It certainly wasn't a bad thing though.

"I recommend shattering their forearm as quickly as you can to keep them from attacking you." Matsu continued while she went through the stance bringing her hand around and then up. "Teras Kasi is a technique developed to face off against force users but it has been adopted by several different groups. The techniques within it are great for personal defense."

Jeela nodded again, watching the demonstration very carefully. She gave it a practice run, more slowly though, transitioning from the stance into the movement while focusing on flowing from one to the next. Then she did it again, still focusing on flow and control. It was hownshenhad learned to use a lightsaber as well. "I have heard of teras kasi on old holograms and a holocron we possessed. I did not realize it was stil used though."

"Oh there is much still used, the real question is for those who master or practice it correctly. There is a templar who was quite skilled in it but I do not know if he is still around." The jedi master gave a nod to that though and thought about vohri and she knew Saki one of the youngest masters in the order knew the techniques. "Come we'll get you some equipment to use. A training saber for personal protection and to practice with."

Jeela nodded, "I suppose I should have expected that. Many things still live on despite entropy's influence. Ideas, especially." Bitterness tinged her voice and a shadow passed over her face, but she gave her the slightest shake of her head and they seemed to drop away. She fell into step behind [member="Matsu Ike"]. "I have a lightsaber for protection already. I built it a few years ago and brought it when I left."

Matsu gave a nod it was good that Jeela had a saber and Matsu slid her off her hip. The orange bladed training saber while she held it unactivated in her hands. "Alright bring out your saber and show me how much you know of the basics."

Jeela nodded, and pulled her saber from a hidden pocket in her coat. She examined it. Nothing special. It was just a plain metal hilt with an activator. She pushed the button and the rich green blade snapped to life, crackling with power. A fearful thing for many to hear, but comforting for her.

She shifted her stance to a ready position and began running through what seemed to be a dance, almost, flowing from a high guard to a feint to a low guard to a lunge and back to a defensive posture. She looked over to see some sign of an opinion. She was a little rusty, and it showed some. Nor did it seem a duel would be easy for her. Practice was one thing. She had never really been in a real duel before, so she did not know her actual skill.

Matsu gave a nod as Jeela went into her stance and her hand came up with the saber, letting the snap hiss sound and orange blade activate while she went into a ready stance. Slowly her feet shifted through slightly different stances before settling with one foot forward and one back. The training blade pointed down and behind her near her hip. "WHen you are ready."

Jeela nodded, and slowly began stepping In a circle, and darted her blade out in a feint toward her left, before pulling back and making a lunge towards her right. She didn't really expect to accomplish anything with those two other than seeing how fast Matsu was so she knew how quickly she'd have to move for the rest of it. She had a feeling she'd be needing to move very quickly. Probably quicker than she had anywhere else,

Matsu stepped with Jeela as her student moved and she had a smirk on her face. Letting the orange blade hum while the force flowed through her and outwards while her blade came up. A sizzling ad small blow as they touched and Matsu pushed up with her strength and moved more with her feet to try and get behind and run the blade along Jee;a's hand.

Jeela dove into the rover that was the Frce and let it carry her, guiding her muscles and leading her feet, She stepped back and twosted aside, but winced as [member="Matsu Ike"]'s blade stung her hand anyways. She momentarily lost her immersion and stumbled slightly, but regained her balance and returned her blade to a defensive stance, That time without training or practice with a partner had not been good,

Matsu moved and held the blade out from her body while backing a little. Her saber jutting out towards Jeela's thigh while she brought it up to block and lock sabers if she defended. "Keep it up." Matsu held a grin on her face while moving about and focusing on keeping the force flowing within herself.

Jeela shook the sting from her hand, and immersed herself once more in the Force, and tried again, her blade darting from low to high with a flip of the wrist, and then to the side as she rotated slightly.

Matsu moved bringing the blade up to catch the underside of it and have her hands above Jeela's blade. A good place for the girl to lunge forward and clip the jedi master in the shoulder. A smile played on her lips as she moved to disengage and let the blade come back at her students hand for another attempt at a contact burn.

Jeela felt the flow of the Force shift her, and she followed, eyes widening as the heat from [member="Matsu Ike"] singed her hand. Too close. She ducked forward in a quick lunge, standing up on her toes to get the best range of motion, ready to jump back or duck, wherever the Force took her, assuming it moved her quickly enough.

Matsu shrunk down, she wasn't the tallest and now looking up at the student and her blade went up. Using the force to empower and reinforce her limbs as she grounded herself and prepared for an overhead strike.

Jeela shiftd off balance suddenly as Matsu suddenly shrank, or seemed to, anyways. She hadn't anticipated that. She regained her balance and instinctively went for the obvious and easy overhead strike, only realizing after she was completely committed that it was not a good idea.

That was it and Matsu moved, using all of her training and skills as her blade came up to block and her feet with it. A telekinetic jump and spin so her boot went up to clip her rams and try to disarm her softly. Not to hurt as it was practice but her hands remained locked on the blade clenching it

Jeela staggered back at the sudden, and belatedly expected response, arms staining slightly from all the impacts and eyes wide from how suddenly she found herself disarmed.

She gave a respectful bow. She was not an independent warrior now who didn't need to train and practice to deal with petty criminals and other lowlifes. She was an apprentice again. What was the Jedi term? Padawans? That sounded right. She was a padawan among masters, literally. And their knowledge and skill far surpassed her own. That would be quite a tough pill to swallow after several years of being on her own. She was back in the major leagues with the professionals.

"Clearly, I have made a grave error in neglecting my trainig and practice, despite never truly needing it. I apologize."

She wasn't sure what made her apologize, but it felt right.

"There is no need for apology Jeela." Matsu rose from where she was crouched after flipping onto her feet and slowly made sure her she was cleaned off before offering a smile. "You are doing well and were focused on the task, most force users will not have the advantage of being small. They love to bolster themselves up, be bigger and tougher. The best way to handle a situation is to be like water, to move the currents of the force and go not where you want but where it leads you changing course only in the most dangerous and devastating way."
